I'm fucked.

Pisaeng is now my baby boy, and I'm fully invested in his well-being. He took so many hits this episode, and I'm taking it personally.

Let's recap exactly how this episode hurt Piseang's and my feelings because I need to make sure I deliver the maximum damage to myself:

Kawi telling Piseang that he is intentionally creating distance between them because Pisaeng makes him feel uncomfortable and unsafe in front of the pink neon light and sign that reads "Extending our friendship, connection, and happiness to you all" was the cherry on top of this shitty pain sandwich.

Kawi chasing Pisaeng to the parking lot just to shove money into his face, so he won't owe Pisaeng anything.

DJ Squirtle! Pisaeng was so excited to give Kawi this, only to throw it at him from the car after such a horrible day.

Pisaeng turned down Pear's invite, but lit up when Kawi invited him out for drinks, only to be ambushed by a group that included Knot.

Pisaeng mentioned not being comfortable around him. Knot is misogynistic and Kawi KNOWS he is an asshole in the future, yet Knot keeps making comments about Pisaeng's sex life and the fact that they went to an all-boys school. Knot also mentioned believing Kawi was with Max (aka GAY), so is Knot homophobic and this is another reason Pisaeng does not want this dumpster in his life?

On the topic of Max, my other baby boy - Is this the reason for their dispute? Max could be gay and Kawi didn't like the implication that they might be in a relationship? Also, he was supposed to meet Max later. Did he? Or did he go out with Knot and the guys instead? He check-marked Max off his list, but this won't be as simple as he is making it if he continues to be friendly with Knot if his issues with Max really do stem from queerness.

Back to my other baby boy - Pear does like Pisaeng, but more importantly, IS MY BABY BOY DEPRESSED?! He is lonely. His old friends suck. His new friend said he makes him uncomfortable. He doesn't want to feel the pressure from Pear's dad. What is his relationship with his own parents? WHO IS THERE FOR MY BOY?!

He looked like he was going to cry in that classroom when Kawi told him he was annoying. He was trying to keep his shit together but was *this* close to having a breakdown when he was scrambling to gather his stuff so he could haul ass out of there. He didn't even turn in the quiz.

LOOK AT HIM!

I'm glad Kawi chased after him, but Pisaeng is really begging for someone to care about it, yet Kawi refuses.

He is quick to forgive and share his food with Kawi, so when Kawi told him that he is bothered by Pisaeng's behavior (thinking it's funny when Kawi is upset), Pisaeng clearly looked pained to know he unintentionally hurt Kawi. He wanted to fix it, but Kawi left immediately when Knot showed up.

Kawi turning down every offer Pisaeng extended to hang out upset him, and he even mentioned it later in the classroom. He tried to joke it off in the class, but he was hurt when it happened.

He went from being happy seeing Kawi and Pear together, to being somber since the realization of what he set in motion hit him.

Because he likes Kawi, a guy he can't have.

And he has liked him the entire time. TEN YEARS!

The worst part of all of this is Kawi isn't bad. He is trying to fix this, yet is delivering the most blows to my guy. He doesn't want Pear to be hurt in the future, so he must keep his distance from Pisaeng. He doesn't want to owe Pisaeng, so he pays him back. He doesn't want Pisaeng to be lonely, so he tries to mend his friendships. He wants his life to be better, which includes befriending Max again, saving his dad's life, and being with Pear, but he is missing what is right in front of him. He needs Pisaeng for his life to be better.

And then next week?!

"I guess this is even more proof that I don't understand how the female mind works. I've seen all the Harry Potter movies, but not once did I ever think, "what if Harry and Draco were gay for each other" " - a man with questionable political views, mid thirties. Context: I sent him a link to the first fanfiction I ever read in an effort to make him less homophobic. It didn't work.

When you think about the lack of adults in fnafhs, and the lack of narrative importance they have*, Bon's dad becomes a very interesting character, even if he just appears in like one minute of one episode.

It's not THAT long but ion like scrolling

*not to say that there aren't any adults in the series, just that the ones do Nothing™ when they appear, I mean, the only one that comes to mind that ACTIVELY affects the plot (or would affect bc season cut short) is Ms Lana, but she never got to do anything so ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

I'm just gonna talk about the old man this should be quick. (Finishing notes, it wasn't)

He is part of the Yaoi shonen ai subplot alright, at this moment Bon is especially conflicted with his feelings about Bonnie as he has already realized what they are but is afraid to admit it*. The only question now is: why won't he admit them?? It's clearly something he has considered from the beginning, and, after spending more time with Bonnie, is almost a fact that is love (ignoring the possibility of platonic feelings for a bit for the sake of the argument). The answer is: his dad.

*this is more of a personal reading as we know edoo would extend the "maybe maybe not"a lot more. BUT I say this confidently bc at the end of the whole camp arc Bon gets the heartbroken forever alone joke or smth when Bonnie insist on being friends, I rest my case, I got derailed for a bit lol

In the scene where The Man appears (he is nameless you see) we get a glimpse of what the relationship with his son is.

When bon is in his room getting ready for school (and pondering on his results of the Am I Gay? Quiz of life) we hear the voice of his dad to come downstairs. He notices the (not so subtle) injuries on his son and ask what that's about. Bon tells him it's from a fight. He gets up from his seat to clearly interested about it, whether he won, if he used some technique he taught him, etc., looking all invested and proud at his son's actions, finishing the conversation saying how he is proud that Bon is finally acting as a man and that he was getting worried of Bon being "effeminate" (or woman-like to be exact) with all the accessories and especially the sleeve he usually wears. He doesn't make another appearance from there (besides at the end of the episode where he introduces toddy, but he isn't important in here, so it doesn't count)

So, his character is pretty straight forward, he is stereotypically masculine, incites violence and is emotionally distanced from his son, as we see how he dismisses his interest and tries to push him to fight with his lessons on various fighting "techniques". Bon gets pretty bummed out from this short conversation afterwards, having to reassure himself after leaving his house. From here we take that Bon is not close with his dad, and also that he seeks for his approval or at least to not get on his bad side, and understandingly so, seeing how he reacts to smaller things, such as the sleeve.

So what's so interesting about him then?? He gives Bon depth, even if said depth is just showing that he comes from a "kinda homophobic-ish, idk if my dad would kick me out of the house if I'm gay" background. This small information gives us a new perspective of Bon's conflict, after that it's not only a story of a teenage boy trying to understand his sexuality and get a bf or smth, it goes deeper now, what are those feelings exactly, how much influence does his dad have on him?, how does this affect the relationship with his dad? What would he do if his family rejects him for being himself?

Soo idk what I'm going with this I just wanted to talk about my thoughts about the old man whose role is being homophobic for the plot ok bye

I'm gonna tell y'all the story of the funniest insult I ever received anonymously (short read, but I'll put it below a readmore anyhow)

So back in the day, when I was wading through the waters of Web 1.0, we didn't have UQuiz -- we had Quizilla, which is unfortunately defunct nowadays. Same concept as UQuiz, different name.

So I was scrolling through cartoon personality quizzes, as you do, and I came across an Ed, Edd n Eddy quiz. And I was like oh, sweet, I love that show, I wonder who I'll get. And I took the quiz indiscriminately, like I wasn't picking untrue answers to hopefully get a character I wanted... And I got my answer.

a love letter to seamoon

disclaimer this will get Very long. majority will be under the cut. this will be very personal

i didn't grow up seeing lgbt media, only glimpses of gay fanart and fanfiction, created by fans. openly gay or trans characters in media didn't really exist when i was a child, and when they were, it was all homophobic and transphobic stereotypes, meant to get a laugh out of the cishet audience.

i grew up in a society where being gay (or trans), was a bad, shameful thing to be. the very first time i came out to anyone, it was my best friend in 7th grade. i texted her, crying bc i was so ashamed of myself, and afraid of her reaction. i texted her, bc i couldn't bear to say it aloud. she was the only one i had told, for years.

It's terrifying to even think of outing yourself when your peers were like hungry wolves, taking any opportunity to find anything wrong with you. i was already fat, ugly, a teacher's pet, etc. I generally kept to myself, and other kids didn't like that. especially since i was poor, and would often show up to school in old, torn clothes every day. nooo way i felt safe enough to come out to anyone else, until a few years later in high school (which was still super scary btw!!)

imagine how i felt as a teenager, seeing Steven Universe on air, especially after the Ruby + Sapphire reveal. a kid's cartoon with largely female/nonbinary characters AND canon lesbians? with onscreen lesbian kisses? on the MOUTH?? nowadays it might seem silly to praise SU for its lgbt representation, when now there's a lot more (by comparison) of openly lgbt media. but i feel like people, esp young people who grew up alongside SU and other openly lgbt media, don't realize just how revolutionary (and recent!!) SU was for its time. SU had actually been cancelled shortly after the Rupphire wedding, for obvious reason. before then, people would jump thru hoops to say that Ruby and Sapphire were sisters, or just "very good friends" . other countries would censor their relationship or not air it at all. sadly, i still see the same happen to other sapphic characters/relationships, including seamoon.

All of this is to say, i just want to let out how important Sea Fairy and Moonlight, and their relationship, are to me.

I first learned about Cookie Run 6-7 years ago when kinning CR characters was a big thing on tumblr lol. one of my mutuals would post about it, and the characters i saw looked cute, so i went to the wiki to look at some more. immediately i was drawn to Moonlight Cookie, and getting her on the official CR personality quiz didnt help either lol

then when i saw Sea Fairy's page, and her mentioning her deep love of the moon, i immediately knew she was really talking about Moonlight, and that seamoon was intended to be canon. this was all before the relationship charts, mind you. all we had were Sea Fairy's inital LINE/Kakao release event, and both Sea Fairy's and Moonlight’s loading lines to go off of

even back then, people were upset at the possibility of them being in love, headcanoning them as sisters or just "best friends", others would say Sea Fairy was talking about the literal moon, or even the moon that Moonlight rides on...

frankly, it was obvious to I and many other sapphics that seamoon was canon. the moon affecting the sea's tide IRL, Sea Fairy being the legendary released after Moonlight, with her entire story up to that point was of a sea fairy who was cursed to be frozen upon trying to reach the moon she so loved. Both their lines referencing longing + loneliness, the City of Wizards and the Tower of Frozen Waves's proximity... it all added up.

finally, on November 14th 2019, Devsisters released the "I Want You Every Day" MV. where we finally get real confirmation of Sea Fairy and Moonlight's relationship, and especially Moonlight's reciprocation of Sea Fairy's feelings, with this legendary moment:

Elation, jubilation, vindication, ecstatic, the list goes on. literally where else am i supposed to find a character who's just like me, including being canonically sapphic?! to have a character i see so much of myself in, be confirmed to be in love and in a relationship with another woman, one who loves her so much as to literally go to the ends of the Earth(bread) for, i cannot find the words although LDRs arent for me, they are the reality for many lesbians, including my own at one point. seeing these two women continue to love each other unconditionally despite their distance, despite the very real reasons they cannot physically be together, brings me hope as a lesbian.

i hope that i too, can find a love that will always look to the sky, thinking of me. a love that will love me unconditionally, the way Sea Fairy loves Moonlight. a love that can bring me peace and comfort, the way that Moonlight does for Sea Fairy.

Heartstopper Season 1, Episode 3

Welcome back to my Heartstopper Feelings Diary, the series where I list all the moments of this beautiful show that give me ✨ feelings. ✨ We’re up to S1E3, and it is a DOOZY. Let’s gooooo.

1. The entire opening sequence breaks my heart. Nick has realized he might have feelings for another boy, so he decides to do some research. He is googling signs he might be gay and ends up down a rabbit hole of really depressing stories: a gay bashing, why people are opposed to marriage equality, and conversion therapy. He finally ends up taking a quiz and cries when it’s 62% homosexual. Meanwhile the song is saying, “I don’t feel like i’m my own person. i just feel like some other version of me.” My poor baby is just so confused.

2. Nick being so brave when he says, “That’s homophobic, Harry. And I really don’t like you. Happy birthday.”

3. When Nick sees Tara and Darcy kissing, it makes him brave. And then he goes to find Charlie.

4. Charlie tells Nick he ran into Ben but he handled it by shoving him into a wall. Nick, still feeling so brave, grabs Charlie’s hand. And the look on his face is just so proud and also heart eyes. I just love him.

5. The whole first kiss scene was perfect. Nick started out so confident when he teases he might have a crush on a boy, but then he completely panics when Charlie starts asking questions. It’s Charlie’s turn to be brave now, and they have just the sweetest first kiss. Nick grabs Charlie’s hand and initiates kiss two. The fact that this is a perfect recreation of the comics is the cherry on top.

6. But of course, things take a turn. Nick hears Harry down the hall and completely panics, running out of the room. Charlie thinks Nick regrets kissing him, and ends up crying on his dad’s shoulder. WHY DID YOU RUN, NICK?? I could not find this moment in the show, so pls enjoy this frame from the comic of the same moment. It will break your heart.

7. Charlie wakes up so sad to have no messages from Nick. But then who is at his door, completely soaked? NICK. ❤️ What a cliffhanger ending, amirite?

It’s possible to be bi and also have internalized homophobia. I know every bi person is different so you obviously see things a different way which is fully valid :) But I’m also bi and definitely read Mike as expressing some internalized homophobic in the rain fight. Maybe it’s because that’s one of my favorite pieces of Byler evidence and don’t wanna lose it 😭 but also because I think it’s super relatable and doesn’t just apply if Mike is gay with comphet. It makes sense to me that Mike could both be bi and like girls in general but be scared of any feelings he has for boys/his best friend as well (most likely subconsciously since he wouldn’t have the Internet or an am I gay quiz to sort through his feelings). That way, rather than being a projection of, “It’s not my fault I don’t like girls,” like a lot of gay Mike truthers believe,” or “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls yet,” like your power point says, it would be, “It’s not my fault I like boys too. I like girls (genuinely). And I have a girlfriend. Which you will soon. Obviously. It’s not my fault you don’t have one yet. Stop reminding me about my latent romantic feelings for you. Did you think we were really gonna stay in my basement all day forever? Why would you think that? No, it’s not like I’ve thought about that. Because I like girls!” I think combining the best of both worlds of fruity Mike theories makes the most sense of everything

I know it's possible but I don't think that's what's happening in the show :/

I think the part about "not having girlfriends and staying in the basement etc" was him trying to explain what he meant before, because he meant that "yet" that was unspoken but he realized he fucked up because he knows Will has been targeted for that before, he knew that phrase came out like he was bullying Will but he didn't mean anything about his sexuality

the whole problem Mike has in s3 is that he feels like he HAS to grow up because he is in a relationship now so he's not a kid anymore, I think that fits with the fight... Mike is telling Will that he thinks they all should grow up and Will makes him realize that's just stupid... Mike doesn't REALLY want to stop playing d&d and enjoy things for kids yet but he thought he had to to be cool for Eleven... Will opens up a different possibility

I just don't think Mike has internalized homophobia, I think he will accept being queer more easily than Will
