Śaśāṃkāsana | Child Pose | Step-by-Step | With Health Benefits | Abhyas School of Yoga
How to practice Śaśāṃkāsana or Child Pose (Rabbit Pose)
The benefits of Śaśāṃkāsana:
- Śaśāṃkāsana helps in releasing stress from the spine. The extension of the shoulders provides relaxation to the middle back and neck muscles.
- Compression at the abdominal and reproductive organs enhances its functioning and helps in releasing constipation.
-Tones and massages the pelvic region and makes back muscles stronger.
Steps to practice Śaśāṃkāsana:-
- Sit in Vajrasana, toes together and heels apart. As you breathe in, slowly lift both your hands from the front and touch your biceps muscles to the ears. Stretch up your spine, and as you breathe out, bend your body forward from the hip joint.
- Rest the abdomen on your thighs, chest on your knees, and forehead on the ground. Keep the arms stretched forward. Now, slowly slide your arms back, from the side, and rest them near your hips. Palms facing up and shoulders relaxed.
- Stay here for a few breaths. Slowly release the posture, return to the initial position and relax.
Disclaimer-
If discomfort is caused while practicing Śaśāṃkāsana then the knees can be kept slightly apart, while bending forward.

I posted this a few days ago with different music. Isn't it amazing how that one element can change the tone and viewing experience? I fucking made it, so I wouldn't expect it to be that big of a shift to me but it was profound. What we say (or sing) matters. The words we repeat over and over to ourselves about ourselves but also about others. That toxic shit will get you. And spill out onto others. Day 4 of #yogabeasts is #rabbitpose or #sasangasana 🐰 Today we want to touch a subject that might be an issue for many of us: what do we eat? . Yes, I returned to be #vegetarian with the exception of fish. People become vegetarians for a variety of reasons. Some do it to alleviate animal suffering, others because they want to pursue a healthier lifestyle or wish to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gas are for the majority produced by animal agriculture, second in this infamous list are buildings, and third cars. An Oxford Martin School’s Future of Food programme, tried to quantify what would happen if everyone became vegetarian by 2050. The results indicate that food-related emissions would drop by about 60%. If the world went vegan instead, emissions declines would be around 70%. . No matter how much their carnivorous friends might deny it, vegetarians have a point: cutting out meat delivers multiple benefits. And the more who make the switch, the more those perks would manifest on a global scale. So for just a day or two I invite you to try the vegetarian diet, just to see if it's really that difficult.
