i really think you can give yourself something akin to dysphoria w things unrelated to gender too. i think it may be the same feeling that otherkin and fictionkin people describe, and uhhhhh not to expose myself but yeah i was a hardcore kinnie and still dabble in it, and the feeling is a YEARNING for a different body and a different self, a yearning to not just be your boring cringy lonely self, bc you tried to fix and like that one but it's just too much work and it's annoying

i think also that any body modification or identity changes eventually gets boring, or at least neutral. you change your pronouns online or even irl, it makes you nervous, bashfully happy when someone uses it, giddy with emotion, etc it consumes your days until everyone uses them long enough then it all loses its spark and you have to focus on normal life again. there's a feeling of boredom followed by sudden thrilling nervewracking excitement when they (and i include myself in that) think of a higher stake like "omg should i legally change my name again? should i change my pronouns for the millionth time? what if i'm genderfluid instead of agender? what if i'm bigender instead of demigirl? what would it feel like? omg let me get into the mind of what those identities would feel like let me meditate and see if the ~vibe~ matches my true inner self let me journal on my blog let me go thru the tumblr tag of it to see if all the memes speak to my soul!! ugh this isn't big enough actually, this hasn't changed my life radically and fixed all my life problems and self-esteem yet, should i go on hormones? should i get surgeries? should i tell loved ones that i know will be bigoted and once they show themselves as transphobes i'll have to cut them off? bc my trans friends will reaffirm that they're as bad as abusers? should i get bottom surgery too?"

there's a fun secretive feeling of anonymity, a persona, a simulacrum. almost an OC of your ideal self you get to work on for sooo long until the changes happen, and by then you're emotionally attached to that OC, you want to be them So Bad. it's special rebirth. and many of those ppl... well not all, i do respect that some choose that path for other reasons and for healthier ones than others, i'm not 100% against transition/identification and not all dysphoria is healable, but as a detrans woman who's talked to many like me... MANY of these are just desperate people looking for good feelings and self-esteem, like i used to be. desperate ppl will grasp at anything they think will fix it, especially if luck is involved like hrt/surgeries where you don't actually fully know what the result will be and if you'll even like it, and if you don't you'll just be an ugly boring detrans reject. that's HIGH STAKES and for a mentally unwell person struggling w dysphoric symptoms it's addictive as hell and it makes you feel so special and makes your life finally feel thrilling like a movie, you have a vibrant community, you're finally interesting enough, and you'll finally be attractive enough after all the surgeries and hormones and with the cutest name and the most fitting pronouns and everybody will love you forever and will protect you from the big bad bigoted meanies who you should never talk to ever again shh any indecision is internalized transphobia and any worries from others is bigotry! just keep going!! never question anything or slow down ever and any therapy is just conversion therapy sweetie, don't listen to them <3

if you don't identify as a woman why would you be allowed to speak on womanhood? i think THAT is why we have a recent surge of transmasc ppl identifying as partially girls and eventually detransitioning, they suddenly feel lonely in their female-passing experiences and trauma from afab upbringing and they can't handle ignoring it anymore. more and more nonbinary ppl identify as she/they nonbinary women, boygirls, just anything that makes it so they can still speak on female issues but also feel detached from full womanhood, whatever "full womanhood" feels like. the trans man > they/them agender > she/he boygirl > they/she nonbinary girl > she/her girl pipeline is real and so many detrans women have been through it!! it's when dysphoria and disconnect from the concept of womanhood is slowly healed thru trauma processing, bonding w women, seeing that women can be gnc, yearning for sisterhood, etc

Yes. I find it annoying how USA centric radblr, rad Twitter and rad servers are. But I'm not gonna leave them. I'd rather explain for the fourth time I don't know where Oregon is than to isolate and tolerate misogyny on top of entitlement in Latino non rad spaces. I prefer to explain to an American woman why immigration is different depending on race and how America being a melting pot is debatable as a good thing than to face misogyny alone.

Also if ur American or white or in a hetero relationship pls keep your eyes and ears open. Try to learn from other women. Your experience dominates the entire media. I beg you to ask questions.

As radfems rad leaning women we need to learn from other women. That's where class consciousness arises. When you actually know that being a woman is a different experience to all of us and that sometimes all we have in common is being a human female in a patriarchal world. But that's the only unity we need.

Please learn from your fellow women and tolerate their faux aus pas. Try to educate them and yourself. Try to tolerate them but also call them on their racism, their colonial attitudes, their entitlements, their homophobia, their xenophobia. We need to open a communication channel that's based on gaining class consciousness not woke points.

These discussions are necessary and productive only when we know is for gaining strength in numbers and for a common goal. The liberation of the female sex and all its limitations like poverty, racism and colonialism.

Themyscira, named after the infamous women-only island, is a discord server created after the latest separatism-is-evil discourse in radfemblr a little while back, when the homophobia really jumped out. I made it for those of us who wanted a space where we could discuss both political and not topics without having to deal with homophobia, or general hetero bullshittery.

this blog is new and specifically made to advertise, as my personal blogs are all “stealth” and would be impossible to advertise on, but I’ve been a part of radfemblr for a good 10 years now. users such as:

the rules themselves are pretty straightforward.

*rad-leaning actual homosexual women only. you don’t have to actually consider yourself a radical feminist. many of us don’t after dealing with a large amount of homophobia from radical feminists, with things like “political lesbianism” being seen/treated as a core belief, separatism treated as an evil ploy by vindictive lesbians out to make hetero women miserable, ext. I stopped identifying as a radical feminist a while ago, but this channel is for actual homosexual women who recognize biological sex, oppression based on sex, ext, and you don’t have to actively consider yourself a radfem to know these things.

*no abuse. all debates, should you have them, need to be kept civil and friendly. we are free to agree to disagree, but if you feel a belief or opinion of another member is beyond that, inform a mod or myself. personal insults, harassment, and Mean Girls-esque cliques are prohibited. we’re all friends here.

*no slurs. it's one thing to refer to yourself with a slur you've reclaimed, but do not do so for someone else without their permission. this also includes the use of words such as tr*nny and f*ggot. these words have a history of bloodshed and oppression and regardless of modern politics should be avoided. modern words such as “troon” have no such history and pretty well only refer to modern bullshittery and therefor, for now, are acceptable. if you feel a word may be questionable, ask ahead of time.

rule of thumb: if you replace the comment with the slur with another minority group, if it sounds like something someone on fox news or the 700 club would say (ex: “the tr*nnies are targeting our children!” -> “the f*ggots/q*eers are targeting our children!”) you need to rephrase it. your point may be valid and entirely factual, but if your wording is hateful it will get you nowhere. if it is truly valid and factual and without hate, it can be reworded to reflect that. if it can’t, it may not be as factual and accurate as you think it is.

*no bigotry. things like racism, ableism, ext are not acceptable. and yes, that does include actual transphobia. many may think that's obvious, but as we tend to see in radfemblr, it isn’t always so obvious, so I gotta say it anyway. treat your sisters the way you'd like to be treated; do no harm but taking no shit. and if you see some shit, flag down a mod or myself. flame wars help no one. don’t waste your time once you realize what you’re dealing with.

*for these reasons, users such as toppdyke and those who associate with her or act in a similar manor will not be accepted. ya’ll are absolute drama lamas at best and I’m not having that shit in my server. sorry not sorry.
