unironically started to listen to ragtime music (specifically Joplin because i’m a sucker for The Entertainer and Maple Leaf Rag) and now i feel transported back in time to the 1920’s and being on a train platform in London, waiting for the train to take me to the next city over and a distinguished, very attractive, gentleman is sitting at the piano playing sweet tunes and i’m bopping my head along and tapping my foot in my overly fun patterned suit, waiting for the damn train and the people around me are doing the same and suddenly the pianist stops just as the train is in sight and the whistle blows, he walks over to me and asks for my telegraph number and…

i’m not writing historical fiction queer romance right now! what are you talking about?!?! i don’t even know if half of that was historical accurate, i was just thinking

Happy Music Monday!!! 🎶

For those that don’t know, I play saxophone (among other things), and am actually in an all-female saxophone quartet. We hardly ever get together because we’re so busy, but we did today! This is a ragtime piece which is super fun, and also very new to us. We had never seen it before about 2 years ago, and this is our second time playing it through since then😂 So forgive the mistakes, but it’s so fun to play again. I’m on tenor (which is oddly enough my least favorite saxophone and the one I have the least experience on, but they’re all fun), AKA the loudest one you can hear on the video since I’m the one that recorded us, lol. Enjoy something a little different from me!!!🫶🏼🫶🏼

"Last year's one-night-only Ragtime reunion concert, a benefit for The Entertainment Community Fund, will air on PBS. Broadcasts begin November 29, but dates will vary according to location. Check local listings at PBS.org.  The performance will also stream for PBS Passport members beginning November 29."

Those of us still suffering from the debunked theatrical release back in February will be overjoyed to know that this time they really mean it when they say there's distant music, changing the tune, changing the time, ahead. Twin Cities will stream on December 2. SoCal on the 6th and 7th. For those of us in New York, allegedly we will be getting a December 26 broadcast, though the schedule doesn't list that far in advance.
