the first time ranma kisses akane is in his cat-form. akane is visibly upset, but it's not because of the fact that he kissed her. but because she assumes that he only kissed her because she was the closest person around.

but that's clearly not true. even in his catform, ranma recognizes akane, and listens to her when she calls for him.

this scene makes it clear that he didn't kiss her because she was the closest person around. he kissed her because in this state, ranma can recognize that akane is someone that she feels safe with -- someone he wants to be affectionate with.

being in his catform didn't make ranma kiss akane, but it just made him feel safe enough to do so.

it's something he already wanted -- whether he realizes it or not -- prior to this event.

Watching the new Ramna 1/2 anime because the first one was my favorite one growing up, and now I realize the reason I loved Akane so much is because she is bisexual!!!!

Akane liking Ranma as a boy and a girl, my younger self was like "Oh yeah, they are both really pretty. I understand".

Girl, you understand because you are as queer as Akane 😂

My favourite thing about ranma 1/2 is that we're lead to believe ramna hates their girl form and feminity but everytime you see them in it or being feminine it's the happiest they are in the show.

The ramna 1/2 reboot is cute!!! Never watched the original but this whole Ranma x Akane dynamics are just *chefs kiss* 😘

I didn't grow up with the original Ranma 1/2 anime either but so far the new anime has been very well done, especially in making sure that in no uncertain terms that Ranma and Akane seem to like one another.

I'm glad Ranma fans are getting such a spirited adaptation with a strong original cast and dub cast, run by someone who wants to adapt the story in it's entirety.

one of the things that ranma teases akane about is the fact the fact that "she gets in the way" when it comes to battle.

but, this claim is something akane takes seriously. she's always set on trying to prove herself, even when she's seriously hurt.

but why does ranma say this?

one thing is very clear. ranma says it to discourage her, but it's not because he doesn't believe in her abilities, but it's because he doesn't want akane to be hurt.

if his only problem was that akane gets in the way, then he wouldn't leave his date with shampoo just to save her -- why would he? she's not getting in his way in that moment, and he has the ability to just ignore what was happening and focus on getting the cure.

but that wouldn't be ranma.

ranma will always prioritize akane over the cure. he has the opportunity to finally be the "normal man" he wanted to be, but he's restless because of the fact that akane could be in danger. even shampoo herself notices it.

again, ranma will always prioritize akane over the cure.
