i had assumed an arquebus was the size of a pistol, like a flintlock pistol maybe (especially because that's how it's depicted in his jr year artwork), but i got curious and looked it up and gang i cannot stress enough that this gun is, on average, larger than riz gukgak. this is an arquebus:

by even the most optimistic estimations, riz gukgak is four feet tall max. the average arquebus according to google (and gun geeks feel free to chime in if this is wrong) is about 4-5 feet long.

i had been picturing riz with an inconspicuous, easily concealed handgun that wouldn't raise any eyebrows, but no, riz's primary weapon is fully the same size as him, possibly even taller. and if you don't think that's goddamn hilarious then i don't know what to tell you

I mean this gently but I have to say somethin' here- I've been getting so much "make your skirts cheaper" "I love this but why are they soooo expensive" etc lately and like look, I know a lot of this is because times are hard.. (otherwise why would I be hearing this more & more this year when prices haven't changed compared to last year) but I just wanna say that one of the only ways I could lower prices (if I was ruthless and didn't care) would be to cut sizing options. Like idk how to word what I'm trying to say, but just know when you shout stuff like this at other brands & they decide they need to find a way to cut costs to lower prices, being size inclusive is gonna be one of the first things to go. I have no plans to do this myself, but for example, a D Size Skater costs me almost twice as much (talking about only the direct from the manu cost, there are other factors too such as that they weigh more so that adds more shipping costs as well) as an A Size Skater. Say I cut D Size altogether.. and many companies would have by now while also not even lowering the price.. I could increase my profit margins significantly right away. Now lets say I cut both C and D and become a shop that only offers the standard range of SM-XL. Wow! Suddenly profits are up so much!! Or maybe going not full corporate greed, I could handle lowering skater prices by like $10 (random number not based on real math idk what things would actually work out to because I'm not gonna do it). But now no one over a size XL can order from me. I fear none of what I'm trying to get across is getting across but I just mean to say, in order to offer what I offer, the prices need to be what they are. They aren't set arbitrarily high & lowering them would mean needing to make choices that I will not make (becoming less size inclusive or making my business unsustainable in the sense that it would not survive long).

#It seems completely arbitrary but my mind is just drawn to it so much #Maybe it's that sweet spot of potential where it's enough to be noticable and enough to be a significant amount of weight to gain #And at the same time it's not yet in the range of 'damn I put on a lot of weight'#It's a good starter amount of weight to gain from any size #And it's an amount of weight for even people of modestly above-average height to start feeling their clothes getting tighter #It's also closer to 50lbs gained than it is to your start weight #So it can make closing that 20-pound gap start to feel enticing and maybe not so far out of reach...#Idk man I just like it when someone decided they needed to be carrying 30 pounds of extra weight and then did that

so obviously bosses are programmed to know generally where the player is, but something i really love about meta knight boss fights in particular is that he is literally always one step behind you. his movements are not erratic, they're directly tied to yours. even if you're on the other side of the stage, he will catch up to your last point of action. it's so cool.

#i wish indie pattern designers weren't all skinny.........#I'M SORRY but like even when they offer patterns for a wide size range #they often neglect to size up design features proportionally with the bust/waist/hip increase #like this pattern i'm sewing rn keeps the same exact collar width for all sizes #the neckline does get longer--but the collar *width* stays the same #so the collar looks bigger on smaller sizes and smaller on bigger sizes #and because the pattern designer wears a size 2. guess what #the small sizes get the correct collar proportions and the large sizes get a smaller-looking collar #i was staring at myself in the mirror going huh why is this muslin like. not quite as cute as the pattern pic #and then i photoshopped the collar a little wider and BAM. THAT WAS IT #anyway i'm adding half an inch to the collar now #edit: i just realized the v-neck depth wasn't scaled either AUGH #lowering that by an inch also

More (early) reinterpretations! ... And a rare case of Avak standing with the back straight, because I noticed many HC him smaller than the rest of the Piraka, but actually he is as tall as Reidak LOL (or at least what I took from the lineup gag publicity of them together). I like both ideas because it's funny to think of someone so stupidly tall trying to look small/sneak from unnecessary trouble (or just hunching from constantly pacing while guarding prison corridors).

And yes: I MADE THOK FLUFFY! Those are actually thick, long feathers, like those of penguins. For me makes sense for a critter that is adapted to stand cold weather. Plus, it makes him look sooo fancy.

TBH Reidak is the least I like of my attempts here... I need to pull harder on visual motifs for him. I was thinking of studying rhinos and ankylosaurs? Make his armor-skin densier/bulkier mmm

And well, Avak! If you noticed, he has some bug-insect motifs (I'm thinking next time, trying to give him something similar to compound eyes-lenses mmm) emphasized with how his tail looks like a bug abdomen, and the way his back spines "pinch" together. Same reason why I added mechanical arms, and because he is a multitasker for sure: he doesn't have ENOUGH ARMS to do all he wants to do!
