Rayman Origins Early Build Footage Found!!!!!
Edit: just saying credit to maedagoof here cuz i had the vid linked as the credit but idk still feel like i should say so ye.
youtube
Really cool since yeah Origins has a weird development. This has some stuff that seems to be from when Origins was that episodic game but then there's also stuff like a 4 player test so who knows when this build was. Lotta stuff here, but just to point out a few:
Rayman plays a bit differently, he has the ground helicopter move from the trailers, has more underwater attacks like a charged punch and kicks, charge punching while on a ledge as well as a splits kinda move midair. Plus, he has his Rayman 1 death animation here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rayman also has a health bar instead of dying in one hit, also seen in trailers before. Plus, Lums are entirely different here! Instead of the Lum King, you would be able to combo collecting lums, causing them to turn into Orange Lums and eventually Red Lums, as well as there being a Big Lum like in Rayman 2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for the fruit of the hour, the plum! Works as you'd expect from Rayman 1 and stuff, with you being able to put it on Lividstone heads and seemingly ride it on water, but also has some physics properties.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a LOT more stuff to talk abt, like Rayman 1 exit signs, Photographer checkpoints, Tricky Treasure appearing in levels, collectable Runes(?) and a lot more!

Different kinds of Nightmares in the Rayman Franchise (Headcanons)
I feel like rambling a bit about my headcanons concerning the different kind of Nightmares in the Rayman franchise.
While editing Reverb I came across a segment where this is touched upon, but I just don't have the time to spare to infodump all of those little nuances without interrupting the story at large, so I thought instead of rambling to the folk in Discord I could just take this here for once :D
In the Dreamcatcher Lore Nightmares are not created equal and there are definitive differences among them. There's a bit of a Hierarchy amongst these, too.
Examples include (in no particular order):
Shadowborn  Sentient Nightmares born from very strong negative feelings towards another individual. Jano (from Polokus) and Raymesis (from Rayman) are prominent examples of this. They usually are equally as powerful as their counterpart and inherit the dislike for the ‘original’ they spawned from.
Darkness Particularly Powerful Nightmares with mysterious origins. Usually shadowy creatures, sometimes amalgamations of multiple Nightmares.  As a raw force of nature they are usually driven by instinct and no more intelligent than an animal, with the exception of Mr. Dark. His intellect is what makes him particularly dangerous. Prominent Examples of this are (as stated above) Mr. Dark, the “Hades Hand” and “Dark Creatures” from Rayman Legends or “the Beast” from Dream Catcher (1). Arguably the Darkmess from Mario + Rabbids if we want to include this.
Jano-Spawn Nightmares that were directly created by and from Jano; “the cute ones” - in his own words. These include the Mini Janos, the Psychlopses, the Antitoons. These can be used by Jano as scouts for him to scry and peer into the world without having to move from his spot by the Cave entrance. They usually sport an uncanny likeness to his own physique. Sometimes Minor Nightmares (like Boney Arms and Darkroots) are used for these purposes as well.
Magically Conjured Created with the purpose to be a living weapon. Not sentient, but highly dangerous and deadly to the touch. Notable examples include Bad Rayman from R1 and Shadow Rayman from the Haunted Paintings.
Corrupted Sentient beings that started out as regular dreamfolk but turned to “the dark side” at some point. Usually more powerful due to their broad experience and history. Prominent Examples include all the Bosses from Rayman 1 and Origins, Ales Mansay or Glombrox. Technically the Hoodlums if we want to stretch it, though Jano does not consider them part of his jurisdiction. (You do not mess with the Lums, the Lums are older than the Gods themselves).
Cave-Tethered Can be born off of anyone; any horrendous fear or bad dream in itself someone might have at night, may that be Polokus or your neighbor Teensy. These are born into and usually never leave the Cave of Bad Dreams and thus do not pose a threat to the Glade at large; but they are likely to cause trouble in the Cave itself and do not listen to anyone (not even Jano). Raymesis loves to “purge” them to let off steam.
Flora E.g. Darkroots and Tulips. These are not sentient but are reactive to their surroundings. Those Nightmares are not usually created consciously and more so an effect of a Nightmare infestation to a plot of land (aka the ENTIRETY of the Land of the Livid Dead, the Cave of Bad Dreams). Not to be confused with the common Flora that just happens to be dangerous like the green darkroots or sea anemones.
The Livid Dead E.g. the toxic fumes with faces from R2, the Skeletal Arms from the Cave or the Tomb of Ancients, the Zombie Chickens or the inhabitants of the Land of the Livid Dead. What makes them exceptional is that they refuse to die (e.g. the First King) or are born undead (Zombie Chicken Eggs). These Nightmares have the means to repopulate naturally. Usually, they are content and peaceful if left alone, though they can be territorial or protective (of their nests or gardens e.g.).
Not-Really-Nightmares
Minions Often confused for Nightmares this category encompasses anything that passes as regular Dreamfolk. The “Common Enemies” encountered in the games that are never seen redeemed and are actively out to cause trouble. E.g. the Lividstones and Hunters, less so territorial native wildlife, like the Piranha. Calling someone a "Nightmare" is a popular insult for people who are a nuisance (depending on the situation either used jokingly or as a legit slur).
Various Just because a character is an enemy doesn't strictly make them a Nightmare. The Knaaren are their own culture from their own god, and the Pirates were an outside force (which is why Polokus was willing to deal with them and Jano attempted to help by spreading rumors of a treasure hidden in his cave - but that's a headcanon for a different day :D)
Is all of this a shameless plug for my fic? Maybe :'D (you can find more about that here /cough). Is it me just wanting to Infodump? Also Yeah. I do it rarely enough here - and the Rayman Nightmares give me brainworms.

Because I don't have money for Netflix just to watch Captain Laserhawk, I might as well do some lore building for my au.
The AU is called "Sun Setted" - The Meadow of Hopes is where Ashlen, Gnarr, etc have originated from and it serves as a parallel universe to the Glade of Dreams but it has notable differences.
• Hoodlums are the prominent enemies in this universe and they have been around for years. It was more of a "what if" situation where André managed to successfully reach the Heart but the Heart had been divided up into 5 Lum Shards and scattered across the land, each ending up into the 4 Kings possession while one of the Shards were in Ashlen's care currently.
• The Meadow was once originally just as vast as the Glades but majority of it fell in Hoodlum territory. What remains became a safe haven for the survivors: The Lastians. Mostly comprised of Teensies from the different tribes, most important Rue, who was an advisor for the Grand Minimus. She once served as the guardian for the Lum Shard.
• Ashlen's creation was natural rather than being manmade, the Lastians did not created Ashlen but they did raised her at a young age. She was considered as a miracle at some extent as she was made out of red lums, which had been scarce nowadays and this grants her healing ability. However, they were fearful that she can easily be corrupted so they would always advise her to not feel fear and always be brave. Rue didn't believe that it was not the good way but she did believed it was necessary so Ashlen wouldn't fall into the Hoodlums' influence.
• Ashlen was led to believe that she was abandoned by Rue and the Lastians but she was abandoned out of her safety. Rue gifted her the Lum Shard in her sleep and sent her away through a raft with the aid of others just before the Hoodlums can reach to her. Rue was never seen or heard of again after this and Ashlen had to learn to grow up alone... until she met Gnarr.
• Gnarr just tolerates this child following around but they grew closer when they were facing the invasion. The Pirates had a pact with the Hoodlums but it was all just a betrayal plan so the Hoodlums can gain their metal for their guns, armor, etc. Some ships were saved but most were renovated to become new HQ's or have crashed after the invasion - one which became Ashlen and Gnarr's forever home.
• Ashlen was more of an anti-hero, especially under the alias of The Crimson Thief, cause all she wants was just to survive and not risk herself turning. It was Gnarr, unironically, that tried to convince her to save the world but Ashlen already see it as a lost cause and again, it was too risky. The whole accidental encounter with André all those years ago was way too hard to forget. Fortunately, Rayman and Globox would accidentally find a way into their universe...
• Ashlen didn't like Rayman with his heroic ideologies and his carefree personality, she didn't understand yet Ray softened her up around the idea. He also helped her that she doesn't have to be strong all the time: "it's okay to be scared, you know". In return, she helps him with his combat skills and even show him some battle tricks. For Gnarr and Globox... well, Gnarr can act as a grumpy uncle to his kids.. which almost made him jump out of his skin by how many they were.
They go around to find the 4 Kings, collect the Lum Shards, and stop André for good yada yada... but this is still a work in progress and I promise you that I'll make it more interesting. I watched Raya and the Last Dragon for some inspiration (I know, it's mid but I still liked it... I like dragons). Also, André in Sun Setted is way different than original André in both appearance and personality. Pretty much, I Mr. Dark-ified André since Mr Dark likely doesn't exist here, I haven't decided yet.

can’t wait to see your ideas on Raymesis friends(?), Selena and Glombrox. I always had a few ideas in mind for them.
You have reminded me!
So for Glombrox, it says in his bio he was taken over by darktoons, which I still wanna incorporate that
I think when he met glombrox he was still fairly young, like ... teenage young? And stakes were kinda high, (in his mind at least) cuz i think this would be days or maybe even HOURS after leaving mr dark
And for the sake of evil things being alittle silly, I think black lums would be kind of unstable, and that is literally what he is made out of, so when he's pissed u can imagine he's pissed
And I think his jealousy for Rayman would be at an all time high, and to him, if RAYMAN had a toad friend, he should to, because he also deserves friends, but. There is a fatal flaw in this, he doesn't know how to make friends, let alone would he actually want to put in the effort? So what he ends up doing is using darktoons to infect one of the globoxians (does his species have a name I have no clue) and he just told him he's his friend now and they probably immediately started beating the shit out each other but raymesis saw this as "my plan worked....I have a friend now haha"
I don't think they actually figured out each others names till one day they were maybe fighting, or yelling to tell the other to shut up, and they were like "SHUT U- wait, what even is your name??" Then it's like one of those comical moments where after they find out each others names they are like "hey uhm, what were we doing again?" Then the others like, "I dunno" then they just take a nap
This is like. Already a lot so I'll talk about Selena and first king in another post

Rayman Head Canons: Voice Claims Part 4
Clark the Giant:
Clark was a character introduced in Rayman 2, I believe that was really the only time we saw him. In Rayman Retold, he was going to appear often. He's one of Rayman's best friends just like Globox is.
I could never get the idea of Clark being voiced by John DiMaggio out of my head. John is known for his roles as Bender the Robot in Futurama, King Zog in Disenchantment, Jake the dog in Adventure Time, Killer Croc from Batman Unlimited, Timandahaf from the English dub of Asterix and the vikings, and the Scotsman from Samurai Jack to name a few.
youtube
-------------------------------------------------
Andre:
The same black lum from Rayman 3 hoodlum Havoc. Andre is another I where I veer off from the original voice material for a fully voiced character.
The way I portray Andre is not as much of a villain, but more of just a general troublemaker. Similar to Raymesis. He's had to stay on the down low since he lost his main muscle. He causes trouble to the local lums and this includes Lumlight.
As much as I liked the original portrayal, there is a different voice actor that I think fits this little trouble maker a lot better. Alex Brightman.
Alex Brightman is a Broadway Actor well known for his role as the voice for Fizzarolli from Hellova Boss, Sir Pentious and Adam from Hazbin Hotel, but my personal favorites is his acting role as Beetlejuice.
youtube
-------------------------------------------------
Space Mama:
Some of you may have seen the stand alone post for this. That will be taken down shortly after this post launches.
Space Mama is one of the characters from Rayman 1 that will pop up over to Rayman's current homeland. She is a famous actress and will travel all over the world to give performances. After the events of Rayman 1, Rayman and Space Mama hold no ill will towards each other and have become good friends. Space Mama will even reserve special seats for him whenever she's alerted that he's coming to her show.
I have Natasia Demetriou for Space Mama's voice claim. She is known for roles such as Cala Maria in The Cuphead Show on Netflix, Sleep in Orion and the Dark, and Wingnut from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
youtube
-------------------------------------------------
Carmen the Whale:
Carmen was a character from Rayman 2 that, as far as I know, did not have any in game voice lines. Possibly due to her only having like one line in Rayman Revolution. I'm not sure if she had dialogue in the over versions of Rayman 2.
Carmen is one of Rayman's many mother/aunt figures in his life. She will watch over him and protect him whenever he's swimming or boating on the ocean. She will make sure the Limbless gets safe passage and will chase off any foes that seek to do him or his boat harm. She is a very protective, motherly force of nature.
I posted about the inspiration for her character a long time ago. This is also why I chose this for her voice claim. Roz Ryan.
Roz Ryan has done voice acting for characters like Cake from the Fiona and Cake series, Bubbie the whale from The Marvelous Adventures of Flapjack (which is her character inspiration), Witch Lezah from The Looney Tunes Show, and Thalia the muse of comedy from the Disney Hercules media.
Since I've used the original Bubbie video to death at this point, I've opted for a different one for this post that is also 100% accurate for Carmen the Whale.

Ly the fairy from Rayman, but a Magic Winx fairy! The Fairy of Lums, complete with her bonded pixie being a ‘humanized’ version of the Lum King fellas from the Ubiart games
What if I started a thing called Fairy Friday? Pretty self-explanatory, and because I’m a fan of the fantasy creature; but I probably won’t be consistent with it… just a hunch. Maybe I could post more than just art for it?

The Ultimate Story the Beginnings Chapter 5-The Quest to Save Rayman's World
The journey begins in the Marshes of Awakening. As they journeyed on, they came across a very scary creature with one eye. As the creature spoke to Rayman and the girls, they all looked at him with terrified looks on their faces, except for Buttercup, Blossom, Maggie and Lisa. After it was done speaking, some of them gleefully ran out. Misty: "What was that horrible looking thing saying to us?" Lisa: "It's telling us that we can't enter some realm unless we know what the name of it is." Misty: "Well thank goodness we got out of there. I don't want to face that thing again." Rayman: ["I don't want to face him, either, Misty. Come on, let's keep looking around."]
As they looked around, they broke out and met Rayman's friend, SSSSSAM. SSSSSAM and Rayman exchanged a few works and then SSSSSAM offered to help guide them through the marshes. Thanks to SSSSSAM, they were able to reach the other end of the marshes safely. SSSSSAM left and so did Rayman and the girls and they headed towards the Bayou.
Meanwhile, one of Razorbeard's men informed them of Rayman and Co’s current location, which aggravated Razorbeard to the greatest extent. His informant then tells him of a tall girl with bright, orange hair. She was from a far distant planet called Earth and she only received a portion of her powers. Razorbeard became very interested and insisted that he must have her before she receives all of her powers. He then ate one of the Lums, reducing Rayman and Co’s Lum collecting count from 1000 to 999.
By the time they reached the Bayou, Razorbeard has sent down a small ship to stop Rayman and his friends. Misty: "Oh, no, it's one of those horrible ships!" Peach: "Those terrible pirates are on to us!" Rayman: ["You don't have to tell me twice. Come on, let's keep moving."]
The ship did very little to derail their efforts. Along the way, they got lost. Rayman: ["Um…OK, which way do we go?"] They looked around. Blossom: "I don't know, there's a lot here that I'm not too familiar with." Buttercup: "No kidding, this place is like Misty's taste in style, messy and badly arranged." Misty: "Hey! What exactly is wrong with my style!?" Buttercup: "Uh, the real question should be what isn't wrong with it." Misty: "Why you, listen here, you scrawny little, bad-mannered pest! I awe to…" Buttercup: "Scrawny? Bad-mannered? PEST? Why you…!"
Everyone else watched as the 2 of them got into a fierce argument. Bubbles then flew in and intervened. Bubbles: "Stop! Stop it please! I hate it when my friends fight." Rayman: ["I agree with Bubbles on this one, we're supposed to be fighting our enemies, not each other."] Lisa: "Let's save these squabbles for after this incident is over, OK?" Misty: "OK, Lisa." Buttercup: "Whatever." Misty: "I'm still not finished with you!"
Buttercup smiled in a self-satisfying manner. They were eventually able to find their way out of the Bayou.
They soon arrived at the Sanctuary of Water and Ice. Before they could enter the realm, they were faced with the one of the Teenzies wearing the crown. Misty: "I see that you've managed to figure out who the real king is." Teenzie: ["Uh…well…not exactly…"]
They looked behind the first Teenzie and saw that the others lined up behind it. Buttercup: "You've got to be kidding me, you're actually taking turns?" Blossom: "Apparently they're still indecisive."
One by one, they told Rayman and the girls that entering a new world require a lot of energy and that they have enough Lums to enter the next world. And so, the Teenzie guardians opened the door and Rayman and the girls entered it. They arrived at a beach area. They solved a puzzle here and there and they soon entered a large chamber. There, they faced the many trials and the realm's guardian. It was a tough challenge. Lisa, Misty, Maggie and the Powerpuff Girls worked together to divert the guardian while Rayman and Peach tried to make it to the very end of the realm. They all succeeded in working together to bring down the guardian. They soon came across at large pedestal as Rayman slowly approaches it. He then stops in front of it and with that, the power the lies within Rayman opens the pedestal, revealing the first Mask. Rayman jumps up, grabs it and holds it up. Misty: "Is that…one of the Masks?" Buttercup: "Duh! What do you think it is?" Misty: "Hey! Be quiet, Buttercup!" Bubbles: "Alright! We found one of the Masks!"
After collecting the mask, they disappeared.
They then reappeared in a strange realm. Misty: "Where are we?"
Lisa pondered for a moment. Bubbles then looked over towards some strange creature with long arms standing on another pedestal. Bubbles: "Hey! Who's that?"
They looked over. Blossom: "I don't know, Bubbles. Let's try to find out."
They ran over. The strange creature looked over towards them. Peach: "Are you…Polokus…?" Polokus: ["Yes, I am Polokus, the creator of this world."]
He looked over and saw Rayman holding the first Mask. Polokus: ["Ah! I see that you have found the first of my masks."] Lisa: "Yes, this is…one of your Masks…I guess…" Buttercup: "You won't believe in what we had to go through just to get it, so you had better be grateful to us!" Peach: "Buttercup!"
Rayman then gave Polokus the Mask. It placed in on 1 side of his pedestal. The Mask fixated itself and its eyes glowed. He sent them on their way. Polokus: ["Be strong. Our world is in your hands."]
The next place they went to was the Menhir Hills. Murfy came in and warned Rayman of the walking shells, then informed him that they can be tamed. Rayman thanked him for the info and Murfy was on his way. Just then, they heard large explosions. Misty: "What was that!?"
They looked up and saw the mountains between them toppled over. The girls flew out to catch them before they fell over. Misty: "Rayman! Do something! We don't know how long we can hold these things!"
Rayman looked around. Suddenly, he spotted the walking shell again. Rayman: ["Peach, we have to use the walking shell, it's our only hope!"]
Rayman then lured out the walking shell, he then calmed it down. He and Peach got on it and rode it out. The girls soon dropped the toppling mountains. Bubble: "Phew! That was close."
Buttercup then punched through the rocks in fits of rage. Buttercup: "ALRIGHT, PIRATE JERKS! COME GET SOME!" Blossom: "Easy, Buttercup, don't wake the entire valley." Lisa: "Let's catch up with Peach and Rayman."
And so they continued on.
Later on, they entered a room full of dismantled robots. Rayman looked over and saw a big, burly guy with and incredibly, huge chin sitting on the floor. Rayman: "Clark!"
He ran over to him. Rayman: ["Was it you that finished off all of these robots?"]
The 2 of them began exchanging words. The girls listened in. Misty: "What are they saying?" Lisa: "Hm…apparently, Clark, that's the big guy in the corner, ate something bad for him and needs some kind of potion." Peach: "Oh, dear, how terrible." Misty: "Where can we find this potion?" Lisa: "Hm…he's saying that we can find it in this place called the Cave of Bad Dreams." Misty: "The Cave of Bad Dreams? Sounds horrible." Bubbles: "I don't want to go there!" Peach: "Where is this place located?"
Lisa listened in some more. Lisa: "Do you remember that thing we came across in the Marshes of Awakening?" Misty: "I hope you don't mean that thing with 1 eye. Oh, man, I was hoping we wouldn't have to run into him again." Bubbles: "I volunteer to stay here and looking after that burly guy." Buttercup: "His name is Clark and don't be such a baby, Bubbles. How bad can this place be?" Blossom: "I'm with Bubbles on this one; I'm not looking forward to this at all." Rayman: ["Come on, guys. Let's head back to the Marshes of Awakening. We have to get that elixir for Clark."]
Rayman ran off. Bubbles: "Oh…I don't want to go." Lisa: "Come on, girls, we have to go. Rayman may need our help." Misty: "Do we have to?" Lisa: "Yes! Now let's go!" Misty: "Oh…alright."
They made their way back to the Marshes of Awakening and went back to the very scary creature they ran into earlier. The creature was pleased that they each remember the name of the place and sent them to the Cave of Bad Dreams. When they arrived, the girls were horrified at everything that they saw. Misty: "Oh…what a horrible place." Peach: "I don't like it here one bit." Buttercup: "OK, I have to admit, this place is terrifying." Bubbles: "No wonder this place is called the Cave of Bad Dreams." Rayman: ["Come on, we have to find that elixir."]
Rayman ran off. The girls went off after Rayman. Rayman confronted many of his worst nightmares as he faced the trials of the cave. Along the way, he along with Peach and Misty lost sight of the others. Misty: "Hey! Where's Lisa? Or Maggie? Or the Powerpuff Girls?" Peach: "Oh, dear, I hope they didn't get lost in this horrible place." Rayman: ["I hope not either. Come on, maybe we'll be able to find them along the way."] Misty: "Oh…I knew this was a bad idea."
As they were nearing the end of the cave, they ran into the creature again, only much larger than before. Rayman, Peach and Misty, terrified out of their minds, tried to escape as it chased them. After the chase, Rayman looked around and noticed that Misty and Peach were nowhere to be found. Rayman: ["Misty? Peach? Where are you guys?"]
Loud screams were heard. He turned around and saw that the creature has captured both Misty and Peach. He trapped inside floating containment fields. Rayman: ["Hey! You! Let my friends go! Now!"]
The creature refuses to let them go and a fierce battle commenced between them. Just as Rayman was about to reach the end, the creature pulls a fast one on him and he fell. Peach: "RAYMAN! NO!"
Just then, he was rescued by Bubbles and Lisa came in, taking down the creature with the use of her psychic powers while Buttercup came in and delivered her famous knuckle sandwiches. Maggie then freed Misty and Peach with the use of her psychic powers. Peach was immediately caught by Blossom. All the girls regrouped. Lisa: "Is everyone OK?" Misty: "I sure am, thanks to you guys." Bubbles: "Don't mention it." Rayman: ["What happened to you guys? We lost you on the way through the cave!"] Bubbles: "We don't know, one minute we're together, the next minute, we're separated." Blossom: "Well, we're back together again and that's all that matters." Rayman: ["Come on, let's keep moving."]
As they reached the very end, they saw large piles of gold. They all became amazed at what they all saw. Misty: "Whoa! Just look at all of this gold." Rayman: ["Yesssss. It is gold, Misty."] Buttercup: "No way…we're rich! Rich! Rich beyond our wildest dreams! (Laugh)" Lisa: "Hold on, Buttercup, there may be a catch." Blossom: "I'm with Lisa on this one; I don't trust this place one bit."
Buttercup folded her arms. Buttercup: "Oh…you spoilsports always ruin everything."
The creature then tossed 1 gold coin towards Rayman. He picked it up and looked at it. He then looked at the creature, who spoke to Rayman. Misty: "What did that thing just say?" Lisa: "You have defeated me. My treasure is yours. Take what you want."
Rayman looked at the coin again then looked back at the girls. Rayman: ["What do you think? Should I take it?"] Lisa: "I highly doubt that's a wise decision, Rayman." Misty: "I'm with Lisa on this one! I hate this place! I don't trust anything that's here, not even this gold!" Peach: "Rayman, please make the right decision. Don't give in to greed." Maggie: "Hm…me thinks this all is an illusion."
He looked over to the Powerpuff Girls. Rayman: ["I want all of your opinions. What do you girls think?"] Blossom: "I think Lisa and Misty are right, I don't trust this place at all and I also think that it's very unwise to accept any of this." Bubbles: "Well, I think the greatest treasure of all lies inside each and every single one of us." Buttercup: "Oh, brother, do you even listen to yourselves? Rayman, accept this treasure! We may never have another moment like this again!"
Rayman then looked at Buttercup with an angry look on his face. Rayman: ["You want the gold so bad? Take it!"]
He tossed the coin right in between Buttercup's eyes. Buttercup: "OW!"
He then looked towards the creature with the same look on his face. Rayman: ["I'm not interested in any of your gold!"]
The creature sent Rayman and the girls out of the cave. He then bestowed to Rayman the medicine for Clark. Rayman: ["Thanks!"] Misty: "Come on, let's get away from this horrible place. I never want to come back here again!" Rayman: ["I'm with Misty on this. Let's go."]
They ran off. Buttercup then flew back toward the creature. Buttercup: "Is there any way you can get me back to that place? Please, oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please!"
Lisa, Maggie, Blossom and Bubbles flew back and grabbed onto Buttercup. Blossom: "Come on, Buttercup, let's go!"
They then pulled her away. Buttercup: "NO! I WANT THAT GOLD!" Rayman, Peach and Misty looked back at Buttercup in a hopeless manner. Rayman: ["Oh, brother. Poor, diluted girl."] Peach: "I can't help but feel bad for her." Misty: "I can." They soon left the marshes.
Later on, they went back to Clark to give him the medicine. Rayman: ["Here, Clark. This is the elixir."]
Clark took the elixir and drank it. He immediately began to feel much better. All the girls celebrated except Buttercup, who was still pouting. He then smashed through a wall and helped to guide them through the rest of the area. Rayman, Clark and all of the girls worked together to make it out of the area. They bid a farewell to Clark and they were on their way.

raymond headcanons.. they aren't entirely fleshed out and they're like "what if it was like this? that makes sense". so sorry if things dont quite make sense or isn't that thought out.. also there may be errors here and there but this isn't supposed to be a polished document its just a rough collection of headcanons i haven't done much with other than like... thinking of them lol
some of this stuff i've posted before but i'm going to reshare again
polokus in origins is described as "an artist and unabashed hedonist" and i see him as just that. immature. he loves all his creations, of course, but he's not exactly responsible. he sees the nymphs more as friends than his daughters. he's more concerned with people liking him than doing the right thing. when he has his first bad dream, he cowers and doesn't want to do anything about it, or he's too scared? this leads to betilla having to do everything herself, she gets help from the other nymphs and creates rayman
the masks of polokus represent his different formes, or perhaps different eras. polokus is a shapeshifter and can be whatever he wants to of course, but he has a "default" he likes to stick with. when he finally changes his "default", a mask is made of the previous forme. for example, polokus from rayman 2 and polokus from the ubiart games are him in different "eras" if that makes sense. their cultural and historic significance could be expanded upon definitely i think but i havent thought too much more into that lmao. the wiki on rpc says that the four kings look like the masks but that sounds more speculative and feels like a stretch. i don’t buy that at all, i don’t see the resemblance
polokus loves all forms of art, and as a result, a lot of the glade's "religion" boils down to being creative and creating, and a lot of magic in general require some form of art, such as dancing for certain spells (the way teensies open portals in r2 or w/e). the people of the glade create art, sing, dance, to keep polokus inspired, amused, and happy so he doesn't have any more bad dreams. i thought about the nymphs all having a corresponding art form, with, obviously, holly being music and edith being culinary, but im not sure what annetta or helena would be. helena maybe textiles... annetta im not sure what i would do with her since she's the most... withdrawn nymph
polokus’ feelings on rayman’s existence are complicated since he is the only creature not created by him. he doesn’t know what he’s capable of, but he’s done a lot already in terms of stopping nightmares and foreign threats such as the pirates. he’s impressed, intrigued... a bit intimidated maybe..... he respects rayman and does love him (polokus has to love every creature after all)
im not sure if the muse of the poets is considered to be actual canon since it appears she was only mentioned in a license guide and not in any other official media. but she's a popular character and i like her too so she gets mentioned. she and polokus fall in love and she has their children, the teensies. she is disgusted by them and runs away, leaving them and polokus forever. she is disgusted by herself, too. if her children are ugly, she must be ugly as well. she becomes obsessed with making herself beautiful, and having beautiful children. she eventually becomes begoniax, which you know how that turns out...
betilla: polokus' pride and joy, she loves him as a father, but is disappointed with his lack of responsibility. when she was younger she was very mischevious and much like him. she learned magic just to be able to pull pranks perform elaborate pull magic tricks. eventually when the first bad dream happened, it was a wake up call. she tried to get him to do something about jano but he wouldn't respond to her. she took matters into her own hands since she was the most magically capable of anyone she knew. with the help of the other nymphs, they created rayman. she's been the "responsible" one ever since. if you catch her in a good mood she might be a bit playful but her days of frivolity are long gone. likes to knit and crochet when she has the time (which is rarely), and spend time with her sisters.
other nymphs: i dont have quite as many headcanons about them, but they are rayman's aunts obviously. edith is rayman's favourite aunt since she's a good cook, followed by holly, who has taught him everything he knows about music. helena is very enthusiastic and a bit overbearing. annetta is the aunt that never shows up to anything
the nymphs all have an element tied to them. betilla and fee de la mort obviously being life and death. holly is air, edith is fire, anetta is water, and helena is earth. seems pretty obvious this part but i've rarely seen ppl attribute helena with earth despite the fact she lives on a mountain...? (stone men, stone dogs, golly g....)
ly is interested in the magical workings of the world and is especially fascinated with lums and their power. betilla sees her potential as a magic user and has accepted her as her pupil. another reason betilla has taken a liking to ly is that she reminds her of her own youth, since ly is fairly playful as well, using magic for tricks. ly is initially just interested in rayman because of the fact he's a being entirely made out of lums, but it eventually turns into a genuine, and close, friendship.
a lot of fairies and some teensies can make "weak" silver lums to give to rayman, but they might not do much, or the effects are temporary. only ly and the nymphs are able to give rayman powers with "stronger" silver lums.
polokus does not dream of every individual in the glade. he dreamt of the first peoples of each species, then they procreate by themselves. most places in the glade are natural, similar to earth, but polokus' dreams may affect them (the icy parts of gourmand land is an obvious example. giant fruit? that's silly)
teensies: naturally hairless and there is little dimorphism between the sexes. their fashion is inspired by the fairies', and have adopted to wear wigs, false eyelashes, fake facial hair, etc. all teensies have the ability to perform magic but they have to actively for it to be useful. teensies with an interest in magic will attend a magic school. the best of the best of teensie magic users can become a minimus, and, of course, the best out of THEM become the grand minimus. there are many teensie races, and each may vary in size, colour (turquoise like in the ubiarts, more grey like in 2 and 3. usually just varying shades of blue), markings, nose length and shape. some races may be more adept at certain magic styles than others.
mr dark: i have some ideas but nothing concrete. might not even go with this story as my definitive headcanon. fairy. he was always critical of polokus, and after the first bad dream, that made him hate the god even more. he was the one who wanted to stop jano, and maybe become someone powerful enough to be seen as the glade's new "god" or whatever. betilla has proven herself to be the better magic user after the creation of rayman. polokus' main thing was that he was the creator, he was able to create life, and now betilla's able to create life. she may as well be polokus! she's a threat! when he steals the protoon/heart of the world and eventually kidnaps betilla, he uses her power to create dark rayman/raymesis. raymesis is *not* was not created by dark by himself, and he would not have been able to pull off this feat without betilla's knowledge of creating "thingamajigs". rayman and raymesis are the only two thingamajigs known in existence, both created by betilla. not saying it's impossible that others could exist, but they would have to be dreamt into existence by polokus.
dark's obsession with being the most powerful person in the world and becoming a god is why he stole the heart of the world, of course. ales mansay would take inspiration from this event. his views are similar to dark's, that's why he worships him. polokus is a terrible god, he lets people suffer. rayman is a terrible hero, all he does is sleep. ales knows he wouldn't be able to reach the heart of the world and instead tries to build his “own” using lums (maybe not exactly but something comparable... the heart of the world is made up of lums after all). i know that's like, duh, canon information, but it was never stated *WHY* he looks up to mr dark. so now you know why. its bc they both hate polokus

continuing from here i’ve also been thinking on how you could rewrite death in rayman to actually make bubblizing meld with rayman 2’s lum lore (and not just be inflation either) and that means reworking canon bubblization just a bit
so, instead of the body inflating and popping (like a bubble), when a glade resident is heavily injured: certain sections of their skin, especially around the main injury, swell into bumps and they get these glowing, yellow stretch marks/cracks that run across their body. these are clear indicators that they’re close to “popping” where in their body breaks apart and disperses their lums, leaving nothing behind
the term “bubblization” should also only be used to refer to sudden deaths/murders rather than replacing the word “death” altogether, because then there’s bubblization and then there’s “natural” deaths where a dream retires to the land of the livid dead and their body gradually breaks down (note: it takes a long, long time for a glade resident to enter their “senior years”, since time is weird in rayman and the main cast has been alive for more than one hundred years but rayman will most likely outlive some of his friends) leaving behind just a skeleton of that person, while their lums return to the collective pool of lums where they’ll eventually take another shape whenever polokus dreams up a new dream; so it’s reincarnation, more or less
bones do get properly buried, if they can be; or, in some cases, can be used to resurrect that person and call their lums back together (this is how zombies, like the first king, exist) but bubblization yields no bones and i’m not sure even polokus could revive a bubblized person; you’re essentially erasing all traces of them — as forgotten as a dream you had last night, beyond faint memories of it, so it’s a BIG deal to threaten to bubblize someone in rayman
bubblization can also occur from, but is not limited to: poisonings, drowning, getting too hot, getting too cold, etc etc and they’re all varied cases, too, that reflect how the victim dies/the cause of death

It was mentioned that Rayman looked a lot like Ales/The Magician, but a thought crossed my mind; What about Globox and Glombrox? It was said that Glombrox used to be a great hero, but ended up getting possessed by a darktoon, and it is said he looks very similar to Globox, to the point some mistakes him for him. So what if Ales and Glombrox was the old due (maybe trio if you count Betilla or The First King?) and Rayman and Globox is the new due (trio if you count Ly or the Grand Minimus)?
Let's see...this is going to be a little long to read, sorry about that-
Ales was created by Mr. Dark (who was now an ally of the nightmares that Polokus created) based on nightmares and black magic in order to conquer the valley (as I mentioned before) but he failed in his mission. Jano at this time was the leader of the nightmares, and he swore to Ales that if he failed in his conquest of the valley he would devour him if he dared to return.
After his failure, the fairies feared that if he reunited with the other nightmares they would try to attack the Glade again. So they gathered lums that managed to contain the dark power of the Magician. Although there was a condition and that is that Ales's emotions made his magic good or bad (that's why he is usually in a good mood).
In addition, there was a legend told by the Muse of Poets (Polokus's wife) in which she said that a being without limbs would be the hero of the Glade of Dreams.
Ales changed his ways with Betilla's help and proved to be very helpful in the Glade, but Polokus did not like the idea of a nightmare like Ales being the hero of the legend, thinking that nightmares could not be totally good no matter how hard they tried.
Regarding Glombrox...He and Ales knew each other but they were not as close as Rayman and Globox, but they used to collaborate for the Glade's safety, Ales being the one who came up with the strategies that Glombrox could put to plan (I want to mention that Ales is older than Glombrox).
A curious fact is that the one who really exiled the nightmares to the cave of bad dreams was Ales, but Rayman was created at that time (since Dark tried to conquer the Glade by himself) and everyone ended up thinking that it was Rayman who did it, and that he was the chosen one of the legend.
Anyway, after the events of Rayman 1 occurred with the defeat of Mr. Dark. But years later (before the events of Rayman 2) Ales disappeared without a trace, it wasn't known why and how, but it is said that Glombrox left in his search for him and was possessed on the way. And in the end he ended up meeting Raymesis and they caused trouble together.
PS: I think that the real trio would be Rayman, Globox and Barbara...Betilla didn't have time to kick some evil butts (even tho she would have loved to) since she was busy watching over the Protoon and keeping the order in the Glade with her sisters.
