Fun idea for a Helluva Boss Au:

Blitzø, Stolas, and Stella but their Reba, Brock, and Barbra Jean from Reba.

Think how silly that would be! Incase you don't know, Reba is a show about Reba, (the actor is named Reba too.) Who got cheated on by Brock, her husband. Barbra Jean is the affair partner that's pregnant. Because Barbra Jean is pregnant Brock and her get married. Hijinks and shenanigans insue yada yada. The part that I would think be fun is Reba and Barbra Jean's relationship.

Obviously at first Reba hates Barbra Jean and wants her to go away. Barbra Jean LOVES Reba. She always wants to be around her, wants to hug her, makes multiple jokes about marrying Reba instead. The thing about their relationship is later Reba actually genuinely likes being around Barbra Jean.

Can you imagine how cool that would be! Blitzø loves hanging around Stella, Stella hates Blitzø at first, but soon Stella begins to care for Blitzø and even loves him more than her ex husband.

I just think that would be such a cool au and I honestly wanna draw art of it.

At the risk of sounding dumb, would you ever write a fic about buck x fem!reader in the camps together? Maybe she was part of the crew and was captured too. Suspending the fact that they would not house men and women together, I can just picture Buck and reader trying to take care of eachother in the camp (and maybe she gets sick when it’s really cold?) I can just see caretaker/protective Buck coming out full force.

Sorry if that’s stupid, you had said you welcomed Buck prompts and I could not get this off my mind. I’m excited for your Buck fic and more of Bucky and ACORN. Thanks for your writing!

Darling Anon! Thank you for this ask, it’s delicious and I’ve got myself some thoughts.

First off -I’ve got a million and one different scenarios and AU’s all centering around life in the camp and I doubt many of them will expire any time soon, it’s just full of too many experimental chances to explore characterization more than even in the hustle and bustle of wartime. So, yes I’d totally be down, shhh, doesn’t sound dumb at all.

At first glance to me there’s a couple of intriguing situations to set it up, one being the real life struggle of Flight Nurse Reba Whittle who had to fight for her rights as an officer and a woman to be considered a POW. I believe the knock-out talent that is @blurredcolour may have more info/inspo in this for you if you’d like to (respectfully) yell at her regarding it.

Another take would indeed be the suspension of their keeping the genders separate and here’s where I feel like we could get super interesting: if we went full Integrated Service AU -as has been discussed on here with other anons about an AU where women are as plentiful as the men. Imagine the disdain the Germans actually had for America’s multi racial service members suddenly doubled by the concept of women in the armed forces. Apply their derision and hatred of say: the serving Soviet women. Like, things could get ugly and intense in those camps and Gale Cleven would 100% be on the front lines of ensuring his crews get their rightful treatment. I’m rubbing my grubby little author paws just thinking of the potential.

Breathless

I don't love this story, but "Hannibal is effectively braindead after the fall, but Will keeps caring for the body and feels that Hannibal is there with him, up until the body dies and Will turns himself in because there isn't any point anymore" probably counts as the most angsty? If you are in the market for a "Hannibal receives a brain injury and he, along with everyone else around him, has to cope with that" story Tina's For Remembrance (Holes in the Floor of the Mind) is a much better pick. And as I continue to think about it, Means of Influence has a pretty angsty ending.

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my stories have slightly bittersweet but still mostly happy endings. Part of the thing about that is I think it's really hard to envision a situation where Will is like 100% Happy Happy, his own mind hates him too much and every little scrap of happiness needs to be fought for and then vigilantly guarded. But I put both him and Hannibal through so much that I always want them to be as close to content as they each can be.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I have gotten two flavors of Fic Hate. 1.) People calling the five year old kid OC in ATTACHMENT slurs like "r*tard" and saying "he belongs in jail" and etc.

Every time Hannibal or Will fuck someone who isn't each other at least one person decides to Yell At Me.

I think I've gotten the old "you didn't tag for bottom Hannibal!!" nonsense once or twice too, but who hasn't?

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

A little. I actually started Hannishark bc I was really intimidated by sex scenes and wanted to see if I could pull off a short monsterfucker story. I feel like I've gotten better at writing these but am generally more comfortable leaving them sparce on anatomical details and big on feelings/conversations.

10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one?

I've got a WRONG TURN crossover series that I'm very proud of here: Bear Mountain Road AU. You don't need to have seen any of the movies to read it, or anything, the movies' premise of "a clan of inbred mountain cannibals waylays travelers" is really just an excuse to put Hannibal (and Will and D, as child members of the cannibal family) In Situations. If I counts as a cross over, I've got a universe swap between the novels and NBC HANNIBAL here: Shiloh

I also have a vague idea for a SAW / HANNIBAL crossover but I've been sitting on that for so long, who knows if it'll ever happen?

Thinking about a Reba/Jim switch AU where Reba goes and quits her job with fish and wildlife and returns to her routs, poaching! She never liked that tree hugging protect-and-serve bullshit, anyway. While Jim, opportunistic bastard that he is, takes the job she left when it's offered (under the same conditions that Reba did- stay outta jail free card comes with the paystub) and eventually ends up Sheriff.

Imagine Reba working with Murdoch 😅 I don't think Murdoch would have gotten away with half the disrespect she did if Poacher Era Reba was on it. Nooo way XD

What drew you to writing in the first place? And please tell me some behind the scenes from making Somewhere Out There Is Somebody!!

I've been doing creative writing on and off since I was a kid. And even when I wasn't physically writing ideas down, I was constantly creating stories in my head. I just can't shut it off. It was only after joining tumblr in August 2021 that I decided to try writing fanfic. After realizing at least a few people actually wanted to read what I wrote, I was hooked and have been writing fanfic ever since.

So the idea for the boxes in Somewhere Out There Is Somebody is very loosely based on the mailbox from The Lake House (2006). I wanted to create a new soulmate AU concept and it seemed like an interesting idea that you could communicate with your soulmate (with strict rules in place) to get to know them a little and help figure out who they were before actually meeting. And since I was writing this as a Valentine's Day fic, it seemed fitting to make them heart-shaped boxes!

Also, the title is a reference to the Reba McEntire song "Somebody" which is about a guy talking to his waitress about his horrible love life and she says his love is out there and it might be literally anyone he passes throughout the day, including "somebody that you look at but never really see, somewhere out there is somebody". And at the end of the song sometime later, the man and waitress realize they are who the other has been looking for.

I've always loved this song since I was a kid, and it fit so perfectly with the plot of my fic, that I just had to use it!

goodbye my princess: OMFG SO MUCH CRYING. if you like pain and main chars doing dumb shit and thinking it's all for love yeaaaa. also a bad end so fyi. i was so bitter about. refuse to rewatch it again but dont regret watching it.

nirvana in fire 1 & 2: less romance but i love the politics in it esp in nirvana 1!!!! everyone is soooo smart and the mind games is LEGIT in this.

scarlet heart: i--i love this so much. it's achingly poignant and the chars are so complicated and the ending will ripped your heart out.

under the queen's umbrella: the only kdrama on this list and IT'S SOOOO FUN but also just gut-wrenching. the family feels all to this and how chars are so multidimesional even the badies that im so glad to see some of them getting redeem while knowing that some ppl are just fucking evil ya know??? the family vibes in this is just chefs kiss. also super great politic and harem fighting for the crown.

the king's woman: this like just trashy romance but i fucking love it. i love ppl being awful and doing awful things for love. no fucking redemption and it's great. also reba is soooo pretty I LOVE HER.

what would it be like if daisy was ever hurt/injured or (god forbid) captured ? how would ron react ? what would their reunion be like ? loving Sad Beautiful Tragic, its my favorite fic at the moment 🥰

THIS!! this is a fun question (for me, because the agony of it). I’ll answer this in two parts because some type of au where Daisy was captured itches a specific part of my brain crossover anyone? spare crossover?

Daisy’s had a couple minor cuts and bruises through the fic itself and usually Ron only ends up seeing it afterward. She’s never been shot (thank God) or anything drastic but it’s … Ron so when he does see it it’s always an immediate “how did this happen?” or just the Concerned Wordless Ron Stare that he gives her and she’s pretty quick to wave off her own injuries.

But let’s say she is shot a-la-Eugene Roe in Replacements: Ron obviously doesn’t… take that very well, I don’t think. I don’t think he’s the type to have an explosive reaction if he isn’t there to witness it but that’s more of a “Trying to keep a semblance of composure because if I flip out it will become that much harder to see her,” which is what he really wants: to see her, see that she’s okay and recovering. He has a hard time believing it until he sees her. Which he does, by the way, as soon as he’s actually able to, he’s seeing her and half-scolding her and she’s smiling at him because he’s been protective since they were children. He sees her as much as he can during the recovery period because he can’t compromise his job and she wouldn’t want him to.

Daisy as a POW is where it gets… interesting.

Because I think in order for that to happen, it’d have to be one of two situations.

She was captured with the rest of the medics in the 326th in Bastogne

She was in a more precarious position, such as being a flight nurse / evacuation nurse (like the only female POW in the ETO, Reba Whittle)

Either way, however this reaches Ron (through word of mouth in the first instance, possibly through a letter in the second instance) he… does not take it well. Grief is weird for him, because he knows that these things happen but in his mind he cannot fathom something like that happening to her. He probably thinks she’s dead at first, especially if she was in a plane and it went down: which is a very harrowing thought, because whenever he dares to let himself think of the future, she is in it.

He enters this uncomfortable grief and he’s not… pleasant to be around, not in the slightest, but does anyone really know why? No, not unless you know Daisy. He’s very angry, I think it’s very akin to the aggression he’d displayed on D-Day. This is a man who already considered himself dead, who has now lost the love of his life. He’s very reckless with himself — not the lives of his men, but certainly his own life.

Daisy, however, has always been very clever.

I imagine it’d be harder to write to infantry troops as a POW because they’re always moving, so instead she writes to his sister (probably Mary) asking him to pass on the message that she is alive and okay, because that’s about as much as German censors are going to let her say. And Mary, of course, passes this message along in a letter to her brother, and that really pulls him out of it, I think. Tangible proof that she is alive and (for the most part) okay. Mary is pretty much the middleman for their sparse correspondence from that point forward until Ron hits Austria and knows they won’t be moving anytime soon as they become an occupying force.

The reunion is a teary-eyed one. I’m torn between whether it’d be in Europe or one back in Boston (but it’s probably the former): but she is thinner than when he’d last saw her and the embrace is bone-crushing, and there’s a lot of kissing involved because she is real and alive and pouring “I’m here”s into his mouth like prayers. They spend quite a bit of time relearning each other, and similarly to canon, pieces of their wars that the other didn’t see are just things that come out in their own time.
