I also think it's nice that they made Camilla a sci-fi nerd and Luz a fantasy nerd. They're genres that are often seen as completely opposing one another by many people, which is what we're led to believe about Luz and Camilla in season 1. Luz is silly, nerdy, frequently in over her head and irresponsible and loves the boiling isles. We're led to believe that Camilla is the normal, conventional TV mother who'd be disgusted and terrified by the demon realm if she saw it.
Then yesterday's lie gives us a lot of nuance to this, and we realize that while they're still very different and now on opposite sides of a conflict, both mother and daughter are incredibly kind people (seen in their treatment of Vee) who love each other but struggle to make the right choices without hurting one another.
Then thanks to them drops all this Camilla characterization and we realize! She was a nerd too this whole time! The wedge between Camilla and Luz is motivated by past traumas and grief! and for the future has them switching sides on the central conflict of where Luz should stay (Camilla now wanting Luz in the demon realm because it's what's best for her, and Luz believing that staying in the human realm is what's best for the people she loves). They finally talk and realize that, like Willow pointed out earlier in the ep, the two are so alike. Camilla reveals that she's a secret nerd too! That she had a hard time growing up and accidentally hurt Luz trying to save her from the same fait! It's so important to me that Camilla keeps calling Luz a good witch. It's affirming her interests and goals, reminding her that she's just as good as the hero of her favorite story. And Luz finally only realizes that she wants to be understood...when she's finally able to understand her mom. When she realizes that the woman she loves and admires is just as much of a nerdy screw-up as her and that there's hope for her. Her palismen ends being multiple animals at once, showing both how Luz making unconventional choices (like carving an egg) keeps paying off for her and how her potential is limitless now that she finally knows and accepts her own goals, but to me it also reminds of the fact that Camilla is a vet and passed a love of all the weird and unliked animals (like wolves, possums, snakes, etc) to her.
It's just so so sweet and it really shows how much love and thought the crew put into this mother daughter storyline (FTF haters are not welcome on this page, respectfully). I can't wait to see how both of these misunderstood but healing women (who radiate "little/big sister" and "mom" energy respectively) are gonna interact with a) the lonely, easily manipulated and well intentioned but ignorant collector (a mix of both their interests as a magic being with a space motif! I just realized that lol) and b) the nasty puritan white man who's really obsessed with conforming to society's norms even when it literally doesn't benefit him at all.
Anyway, I believe in noceda( AND clawthorne 👀) family supremacy 💙

Thinking about Enerjak possessing Knuckles, completely wiping his mind as he does so even when his influence is lifted, Knuckles is this quiet shell, too devoid of memory to know to be confused or distressed. And the Master Emerald gets to be the hero and restores his memories since it has known him his entire life...
Thinking specifically about Enerjak possessing Knuckles Wachowski and all the angst that would come of that. But in this universe the Master Emerald has only known him a short time. It restores his memories of the Wachowski’s but he loses the echidnas. His tribes’ faces, his father’s voice, his native language, his lessons on how to manipulate chaos, his original name--all gone forever.

Heads Up Seven Up
I was tagged by @that-angry-noldo to share the last seven lines I wrote in my WIP! Thank you for the summons!
From To Partake:
He had let his anger get the better of him. He realizes that now, like a cold shock to his spine, here in the dark alone. He had overreacted.
That is why he is so angry. He is not angry at Elrond, not really. Ereinion is angry with himself.
He does not know how he will be able to stand facing Elrond tomorrow.
And from Beneath a Boundless Sky
He meant to broach the idea to Istiel, so she could put the question to her people.
To our people, Elrond fiercely reminded himself.
My people.
Sometimes he wondered if it had been a mistake to refuse to take on any mantle of formal leadership for the remnants of Doriath. He only had not wished to tempt them to name him king — a title Elrond neither wanted nor felt that he deserved — with his Ñoldorin braids and his Fëanorian accent and his ignorance to his own childhood customs. He knew that it was hardly his fault, but there had been plenty of others who were better qualified than he was to lead the Doriathrim. Istiel had been their second choice, and Elrond’s first.
I think most people have already played by now, but just in case I am tagging @raointean @thesolarangel and @greyjedijaneite and whomever else has not played yet but would like to!

It's just... Bo-Katan is starting so cynical about Mandalorian culture and clearly considers it to be all superstition, good for appeasing your subjects and that's it. And then she has this moment as Din enters the living waters that I am choosing to read as soft. Like maybe there's something about her culture that does speak to her, but she doesn't quite want to admit it. Because it's all silly anyway, and her father didn't even care about her mando baptism he just cared about her not embarrassing him. And then she sees the mythosaur! And she's kinda going through it about that!
And like... all her followers left her. She failed in her duty as a ruler and a Kryze, and doesn't really have that power she's supposed to anymore. And now she's part of a Mandalorian covert all of a sudden! Now instead of being all gloomy in her castle and sleeping on her sadgirl throne, she can find new community. She requests a mythosaur pauldron!!! She's seen a real living mythosaur and maybe all this isn't such silly superstition anymore!!

This is random but did you also avoid the Depp/Heard trial? Not because you didn’t care, but just because it was too overwhelming and unpleasant to engage with.
i did avoid diving too far into that sphere intentionally, though of course i still saw news about it through cultural osmosis and the high profile nature of the case, and some of the things online being so downright evil that others couldn't help but comment on them (understandably). i actually still have an article from the atlantic last year saved in my drafts about this (this piece), and i think it's an important, illuminating read, and i've actually been thinking about it a lot again over the past couple of weeks. :/ (the article author kaitlyn tiffany also wrote in 2020 about fandom conspiracy theories is also such an important piece imho, though a disquieting read.)
"
The case is complicated, and the testimony is rife with sordid, disturbing details. In short, Depp has taken Heard to court for defamation over a 2018 essay she published in The Washington Post that identified her as a victim of domestic abuse and sexual violence. Heard also made abuse allegations when she filed for divorce from Depp in early 2016, and was granted a restraining order against him.
Rebecca felt betrayed by Depp when Heard came forward with her story, and has since renounced her fandom. But she’s been positively horrified by the behavior of Depp’s other fans, who have spent the past several years trying to discredit Heard as a “gold digger” and a “monster.” (I agreed to identify Rebecca by only her first name because she was concerned about harassment from this community.)
...For Millennials in particular, she told me, fans’ sense of their own morality is deeply entwined with fandom. “We hang so much of our own identity on these things that we love,” she said. “So if those things are threatened, you either have to admit that you’re sort of a bad person for liking those things or you have to convince yourself that everyone else is wrong.”
Hilde Van den Bulck, a professor of communication at Drexel University, has studied the version of fandom that inverts its practices and creates a community of denigration. Where fandom tends to derive from a positive emotion (I love this actor; I love that character), anti-fandom draws from just the opposite, and nurtures negative feelings toward a famous person or character. Fans and anti-fans both express themselves through online sleuthing: They hang on the object of their fascination’s every word, and analyze every detail of that person’s wardrobe and hairstyling and self-presentation. “Anti-fans know as much about their object of anti-fandom as fans do about their object of fandom,” Van den Bulck said. Their relationship with the celebrity they despise is “often very deep, very emotional.”"
idk i have a lot of things i could write about and delve into with this given more current events, but this exemplifies a lot of where fandom's problems with women intersect with confused ideas about social justice and morality intersect with emotions about things we love intersect with the very incorrect idea that enjoying a work of art or an artist is equivalent to endorsement of everything they do, and it's so complex. absolutely we should hold people accountable, absolutely people should be called out for harmful actions and behavior (be that abuse, racism, misogyny, homophobia, -isms and hurt or disregard for others of any kind), and it should not be tolerated. at the same time, i do worry that overcorrection in tying things we enjoy to morality is leading to us punishing each other for the bad actions of individuals far out of our control, and that doesn't solve the problem or help uplift anyone.
sorry, this got super off-topic! but i understand why you tried to avoid it, because it was overwhelming and unpleasant and triggery, and revealed some ugly and shameful things about the way fans - even predominantly female ones - will behave and harass others online and how we need to curtail that going forward as best as we can.
