The creamy coconut-based sauce is spiced with a blend of aromatic Indian spices, making this korma a delicious and satisfying option for lunch or dinner.
Before we jump into the recipe, let's talk about some of the health benefits of the ingredients in this dish. Chickpeas are an excellent source of plant-based protein and fiber, which can help you feel full and satisfied for longer. They are also rich in folate, iron, and zinc, which are essential minerals for maintaining good health. Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable that is high in vitamin C, vitamin K, and fiber. Red and yellow bell peppers are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, while red onions are a good source of quercetin, a flavonoid that has anti-inflammatory properties.
Ingredients
For the korma:
1 can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
1 red onion, sliced
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon of curry powder
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
1 teaspoon of ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional)
1 can of coconut milk
1 tablespoon of olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh cilantro for garnish
For the brown rice:
1 cup of brown rice
2 cups of water
1/4 teaspoon of salt
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the brown rice
Combine the brown rice, water, and salt in a medium-sized saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender. Fluff with a fork and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the vegetables
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers and sauté for 5-7 minutes until slightly softened. Add the broccoli florets and sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes.
Step 3: Make the korma sauce
Add the curry powder, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the skillet and stir to combine with the vegetables. Add the chickpeas and coconut milk and stir well. Reduce the heat to low and let the korma simmer for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens and the vegetables are tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Serve
Serve the chickpea vegetable korma over the brown rice and garnish with fresh cilantro. Enjoy!

Pale 11.2
“How did you meet these two?” Verona’s mom asked. That put her on the spot.  “Group project.” “What kind of project?” Aaaaa.
big mood Avery, I am continually impressed with how many technically-true statements the other two manage
“Fake pork on a bagel?” Avery scrunched up her nose. “With tons of barbecue sauce and stuff, looks like,” Lucy added. “On a bagel?  I dunno.  Fake meat I’ve tried is maybe half mediocre, squint-and-you-could-interpret-it-as-meat stuff,” Avery said.  “And the other half was real sad.  My siblings looked at the turkey slice stuff and they went from making fun of the vegetarian stuff to feeling sorry for me.  And making fun of me a little, still.”
even leaving aside the fake meat aspect, I am deeply weirded out by the idea of a barbecue pork bagel sandwich. A bagel should have smoked salmon and cream cheese! You can add tomato/red onion/capers if you want, or I guess do something with eggs and/or salad. But not meat! Especially pork, that's just bizarre
“If it’s decent then you could come back and have it again,” Verona’s mom said. “I dunno, I don’t want to ruin a whole meal though.”
this is why I just always order the same thing at a restaurant once I've found something I like
“It’s a generation thing,” Verona said, still talking in a tone like she was laying sage wisdom down from above and having fun at the same time.  Verona was being very Verona and it felt a lot like Avery had felt when she was just getting into the flow of these two, after Miss had introduced them.
I think Verona is feeling very off-balance still, but also the sudden release of being away from her dad, and is being very outwardly herself to work through her emotions
“Lox and cream cheese with double helping of black olive and red onion, please, poppyseed.”
aside from the olives this is respectable
“I’m not into art as a career, though,” Verona said.  “And like, who even thinks about careers at thirteen?” “Me either, with sports,” Avery interjected.
that's probably good, those are two careers that are very hard to actually make a living off of
“It’s an advantage, if you can tackle a new project without feeling like you’re leaving behind the things you really want to do.  I get excited about any new venture, and I think I can sell people on that excitement and make things happen.”
have you considered becoming a startup CEO
“What have you done?” Verona asked them, mock-horrified, even though she looked like she was enjoying herself at the same time. [...] “What have you done?” Verona asked her mom and Lucy’s mom, exaggerated.  “Have you no mercy?”
ok, this is very stressful for Avery and coming at a bad time, but I'm also with Verona that it is very funny
(I am an only child)
“Just the one, I think,” Jasmine said.  “She works for the whole hospital, and doubles as IT, I think.” “That’s not nearly enough,” Connor said.  “One health information specialist?”
pour one out for that poor poor IT/information worker. That's not nearly enough, and you can bet they're being drafted into any project that needs a bit of code or analysis done
also ngl I would read more of the parents talking about healthcare data analysis, I wonder if wildbow has personal experience with it? I have a friend who does basically the job that Connor has, and it's not something people tend to think of when they think either "healthcare work" or "tech work", so it seems oddly specific
Avery focused on that, drew on the connection, and channeled it.  Snowdrop raised a paw, ‘thumb’ extended, then went back to sleep. She adopted the omnivore scavenger’s palate.
oh that's a neat benefit. I was going to say probably not useful for anything major, but actually it would be a live-saver in the Hungry Choir ritual, and I bet there are other practices that require eating something gross
“Avery!” Avery flinched like she’d been slapped in the back of her head. Her dad.
... that is a strong reaction. The lingering head injury, or his reaction to her coming out?
“Here,” he said.  He reached into his pocket and got his wallet.  He pressed a card into her hand.  Then he turned to the cashier.  “My daughter has my card, Connor Kelly.  She has my permission to use it.  That okay?”
this feels like guilt
“I really can’t think of much I need,” Avery said.  “Some shirts, maybe, shorts…” “Two hundred dollars?” Verona repeated. Avery shook her head, looking around.  “While Snowdrop is leveling up in- I don’t even know what to call it.  Intensity of fashion?  I feel like I should do something similar but I don’t know what.”
to echo a fandom desire from early-mid Ward: shopping trip!
time for a butch makeover montage
“This is what she does,” Verona said.  “Hey, while you’re doing that, Ave, buy your basics, I can think of some things to buy for Tashlit.  I have some money too.”
aww
“In ten hours, yeah,” Lucy said.  “And then I got stressed because I knew not sleeping before a day like today which might really matter…” “Yeah.  I get that.” “Made it even harder to sleep because I was stressed.”
that happens to my partner sometimes, it always sucks
“It did suck and it was lonely but I get it.  It’s cool.”
on the one hand Avery's right that Lucy was also going through it and this was understandable, but on the other I'm not thrilled how quickly she goes "This was bad for me but it's fine."
“I like the idea of sticking by one another, it’s just tricky sometimes.  People are… personality-wise I see us all as jagged, weirdly shaped things, and we try to mesh together as best as we can but sometimes…” “Yeah.” “The mesh isn’t perfect and we bounce off one another or something and that doesn’t at all mean I don’t care or I’m not in your corner.”
hedgehog dilemma
Avery shook her head.  “He smacked me in the back of the head near the brain stem and that can give you gnarly headaches that last for a whole month.  But when he said I could have the post-concussion thing, he was saying I could have mental difficutlies or problems for the rest of my life.  And that’s when, you know…  I was spooked.”
fucking christ that's terrifying no wonder you were spooked
“You know that you’re like… cool, right, Ave?” “I don’t, no.”
ouch
“I don’t mean sunglasses and slicked back hair cool, or snowboarder chick cool, or leather jackets type cool, I mean-”
she could be those if she wanted! maybe. actually no, sweet and earnest kind of gets in the way of most of those. but she could still get a leather jacket.
“These are your measurements for cool?  Sunglasses and slicked back hair?  What?” Avery asked, smiling.
... is Lucy's metric for cool just Zed
“Do we have to move on?  Because calling me cool is awkward but defining what you see as cool is fun.  Who’s a cool guy, Lucy?  One cool guy you know.” “I had a point I was getting to.” “First one off the top of your head.  Is it Zed?”
called it!
“What’s the commonality between those guys?  Tymon’s a bit laid back, especially when you put him with a bunch of these practitioners from uptight families, and George is sort of above it all.  Tymon’s from a big drug-spirit summoning family and George partakes…” “Not really the direction I was thinking.” “Very angular faces.  Sharp chins, defined cheekbones…”
lol
“Is this punishment?  For leaving you hanging while I moped?  Are you channeling Snowdrop’s chaotic spirit?”
what goes around comes around! otherverse runs on karma
“Oh, they both have longer hair.  Are you into longer hair?  I can understand that.” “The longer hair is a plus.”
fits with liking indie rock/pop I think? I don't know music. Or guys.
Wallace tended to lighten his hair and wear shirts with wild geometric or fractal patterns, prints, and/or colors.
oh that's neat, I love a good geometric pattern. I am now rooting for Wallace, sorry Tymon
At Tashlit’s instruction, such as it was, Lucy sat on the log by the fire and then rolled up her shirt as much as she could without being indecent
this is a very Avery this to notice and way of phrasing
It was gnarly.
no wait I take it back, this is Avery phrasing
3:00pm. “Of course.  I’ll help,” John said. Verona, Avery, and Lucy held papers, guaranteeing privacy.
oh, so they're doing the rounds of their allies. Tashlit, John... I wonder who else? Probably Alpeana, Crooked Rock might have put them in contact with the ghouls, maybe they'll talk to Guilherme and Toadswallow. I think this will go fine, my concern is that helping the girls arrest Edith is a good way for a secret conspirator to ward off suspicion
John nodded.  He took the little games that Verona had brought and set them aside, bending down briefly to slip them into his bag.  There was also a collection of darts Avery had grabbed on impulse.  No dartboard, that had been too expensive.  Just darts.  She figured John could improvise.  He seemed to like it.
cute that they're bringing gifts, and I do like it as part of this recruitment process. Too small to be a bribe, but a show of friendliness and respect. Reminds me of how ritualized gift-giving worked between allies and vassals in ye olden times
“Sorry,” John said, settling into a sitting position, moving his bag to be closer to his foot.  “If that’s too much.  All I mean is- be prepared for this to not go the way you need it to.  Even if it comes to you getting hurt, cornered, imprisoned, if you have plans or things set in motion, you don’t want to think ‘I should’ve’ in the moment before you have no options.  Be prepared.” “What does-” Lucy paused, swallowing.  “What sort of thing would we need to do to be prepared?”
gods this is sad to have to think of. Write letters for your families, for Zed and their other allies at the school? Put together a will for the various powerful items they have? I don't know if Avery would need to make arrangements for Snowdrop
Jessica had sent a picture of herself and her girlfriend in their house.  It looked small but it was packed with decorations, to the point that some stuff was sitting on the ground around the base of some of the tables next to a futon.  Avery was fond of the stone carvings and she’d asked, and Jessica had sent pictures of some.
good to see they're still in contact :)
“Avery! Sheridan, Kerry, Declan! Dinner!”
it has just now struck me 1) how deeply irish all these kids' names are (except, oddly enough, for Avery) and 2) what a deeply unfortunate name Kerry Kelly is
Kerry K.J. Kelly
oh gods and she has another K-name for a middle name. Poor kid.
Her dad addressed the table.  “This is going to be a brief but very important family discussion.  And I do mean discussion.  We need to talk about something serious.” Avery had already spent the day on high alert, and she didn’t miss the fact that her mom reached over to place a hand over Grumble’s.
well fuck, this is bad timing. With the attention on Grumble, is he moving to a nursing home?
“On the upside, there are ice cream bars for dessert,” her mom said.  “So let’s tough this out.”
so I have some bad news about that
“Rook is trusting us with information.  Our doppleganger and cancer stick are with the candle spirit,” Lucy told her.  “They were out there.”
aw, I was hoping Lis wasn't involved
“I’d do something else, I think.  I think of, I dunno.  A house without a floor.  Ropes and things.” Verona laughed.  “That’d be out there.” “Isn’t it?  Or a loft with enough open space on the second floor where you could have a big hammock or something stretched across, like they do in tiny houses.” “That’s neat.  I can see it.  Path-y.” “Yeah, with doors and windows out to Paths.  Maybe so you can peek through?”
this seems wildly inconvenient, but a neat visual. Might be hard to move around quickly though, which could get annoying for Avery
“My mom was talking about passions and not having any one particular passion for herself.  And that’s cool, but like, how do I decide on a place to call my place of power if I do something like that?  How do you define a space and make it cool if your approach to practice or to the world changes all the time?”
I mean I've only seen a few months of Verona's life, but art, magical knowledge, diagrams, things that are weird and gross and fleshy.
“I know this sounds awful, but… countermeasures for John?” Verona asked.
this sucks, and I don't think either John or Tashlit will be issues, but considering how worried I am about the real culprit remaining hidden through this conflict, or even aiding the girls, I'm glad that they have countermeasures prepared for everyone
The blackness behind her deepened.  The Sable Prince stepped out of the darkness behind her.  Trees rustled and leaves went still, branches creaking and bowing.
oh hello!
Avery could see Edith’s face, and she saw the moment that she recognized that the Sable Prince was there. All fight dropped away.  She let Matthew hold her shoulder. Surrender, just like that.  Which didn’t mean this was over.
... huh. Easier than I thought! Though of course the real challenge will be getting information from her

Shrimp cocktail aficionados might have noticed that this classic appetizer often has green bits. But why?
The green ingredient in shrimp cocktail is usually a combination of celery, onion, and green bell pepper. The brightness of the green vegetables contrasts with the pink of the shrimps which adds visual appeal to the dish. In older recipes, the vegetables were sometimes cooked in red wine, giving them a pinkish hue as well.
Green vegetables in shrimp cocktail also help to balance out the flavors and textures of the dish. Celery, onion, and bell pepper provide a crunchy texture which pairs well with the softer texture of the shrimp. The vegetables also help to block the intense flavor of the cocktail sauce, allowing the subtly sweet flavor of the shrimp to shine through.
Additionally, the green vegetables aid in the health benefits of the dish. Onions, bell peppers, and celery are all rich in vitamins and minerals which, when combined with shrimp, create a balanced and nutritious appetizer.
So the next time you’re enjoying some shrimp cocktail, pay extra attention to the green pieces and know that they do more than just to add color.

STORY AT-A-GLANCE
Quercetin is a natural antihistamine with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antiviral properties
This natural flavonoid is useful for boosting heart health, relieving allergy symptoms, supporting liver health and more
Quercetin acts as a zinc ionophore, helping to shuttle zinc through the cellular membrane and into the cell, which is crucial for stopping virus replication
Rich sources of quercetin include apples — especially the skins — onions, broccoli, cherries, berries and green tea
I recommend keeping quercetin in your medicine chest for times when you feel you're coming down with something, such as a cold or influenza
Quercetin is one of more than 4,000 known flavonoids,1 compounds that contribute to the bitterness, astringency, flavor, aroma and oxidative stability of many fruits, berries and vegetables.
Quercetin, in particular, is a plant pigment and natural antiviral agent2 found in foods such as onions, apples, plums and green tea, which also combats inflammation and works as a natural antihistamine.
I recommend keeping quercetin in your medicine chest for times when you feel you're coming down with something, such as a cold or influenza. However, there’s also good reason to include plenty of quercetin-rich foods in your diet on a regular basis, as it offers multiple benefits to your health.
Quercetin Supports Heart Health
Quercetin exerts a range of biological activities that have a positive role in heart disease, including:3
Anti-inflammatory
Antihypertensive
Vasodilator effects
Antiobesity
Antihypercholesterolemic
Antiatherosclerotic
In one study of 30 men with coronary heart disease, consuming quercetin-rich red grape polyphenol extract led to an increase in flow-mediated dilation of arteries, which can signal improved endothelial health.4 It also inhibits platelet aggregation and has vasorelaxant properties that help lower blood pressure and prevent cardiac hypertrophy, in which the heart muscles thickens.
Another benefit to quercetin is its potential to lower uric acid levels,5 elevated levels of which are linked to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke,6 not to mention gout insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes. Dr. David Perlmutter told Yahoo:7
"While we’ve known for decades about how uric acid increases the risk of gout, this new understanding about the role it plays in stroke is really encouraging, since there’s so much we can do to bring our uric acid levels under control. In fact, there’s great research showing how the nutrient quercetin can substantially lower uric acid levels."
Perlmutter suggests supplementing with 500 milligrams (mg) of quercetin along with 100 mg of luteolin for a gout-lowering effect similar to that induced by the gout drug Allopurinol.8
This natural compound is also useful for optimizing cholesterol levels, as it may help inhibit oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL). It also has blood pressure-lowering effects. A study on rats found daily supplementation reduced systolic blood pressure by 18% and diastolic by 23%.9
In addition, a six-week trial on overweight humans at high risk of heart disease also found that quercetin — at a dose of 150 mg per day — reduced systolic blood pressure and oxidized LDL levels.10 It may even support a healthy weight via multiple antiobesity effects. According to Pharmacognosy Review:
"Quercetin has a specific feature which inhibits fat accumulation in maturing human fat cells and simultaneously triggers apoptosis (programmed destruction) in existing fat cells. In addition, quercetin also blocks the uptake of glucose from the blood, blocks the fat cell production, and enhances fat cell necrosis."
Quercetin Offers Allergy Relief
youtube
In the video above, chiropractor Dr. Jin Sung highlights quercetin’s role in seasonal allergies, noting that it demonstrates the greatest anti-allergy activity among flavonoids and works by modulating the release of histamine from basophils and mast cells.11
In a study comparing quercetin with herbal water on histamine release from mast cells, quercetin inhibited cells’ release of histamine by 95% to 97%.12 Other research shows quercetin supplementation may reduce allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and itchy eyes.13 The half-life of quercetin is 3.5 to 7.5 hours, so for best results you may want to take it in divided doses.
Sung recommends a dose of 500 mg to 1,000 mg two to four times a day during allergy season to help manage the symptoms, starting with the lowest dose — 500 mg, twice a day — and gradually increasing if necessary.14
Synergistic supplements for allergy relief, which you can take along with quercetin, include stinging nettle, butterbur extract, mangosteen extract, ginger, vitamin C and vitamin D.15

Powerful Antiviral Effects
In addition to offering antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antimicrobial and immune-modulating properties, quercetin acts as a zinc ionophore.16 These work by shuttling zinc through the cellular membrane and into the cell, which is crucial for stopping virus replication. This is part of what makes it so useful during cold and flu season due to its antiviral effects.
Quercetin was initially found to provide broad-spectrum protection against SARS coronavirus in the aftermath of the 2003 SARS epidemic.17,18,19 A number of studies have also shown quercetin, when used early, also lowers your risk of hospitalization and death from COVID-1920 and improves clinical outcomes.
In one study, patients with COVID-19 who received quercetin along with standard care recovered faster and had less severe symptoms.21
Other viruses known to respond to quercetin include adenovirus, herpes simplex virus, Japanese encephalitis virus, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).22 If you're prone to colds and flu, you could consider taking quercetin for a couple of months before cold and flu season hits to boost your immune system.
Quercetin likely drives zinc into the cell to inhibit viral replication and also works synergistically with vitamin C, which enhances plasma quercetin levels,23 so consider using both together for best results. According to a Frontiers in Immunology review article:24
"There is evidence that vitamin C and quercetin co-administration exerts a synergistic antiviral action due to overlapping antiviral and immunomodulatory properties and the capacity of ascorbate to recycle quercetin, increasing its efficacy."
Help to Keep Gray Hair Away
Research suggests the use of onion juice as a natural, topical treatment to support hair regrowth,25 and one reason could be due to quercetin. In addition to helping reduce inflammation,26 quercetin enhances the expression of the antioxidant enzyme catalase27 in your scalp, which helps break down hydrogen peroxide that contributes to cell damage and thinning hair.28
By breaking down hydrogen peroxide, catalase — and by extension, quercetin — may also be beneficial for slowing down hair graying. Hydrogen peroxide is a well-known tool for bleaching your hair, but many people aren't aware that your hair cells make hydrogen peroxide, too.
As you age, the amount produced increases, which researchers believe ultimately bleaches out your hair pigment, turning your hair gray and then white.29
Quercetin is well known for maintaining oxidative balance in the body, both by inhibiting and alleviating oxidative stress.30 This is another way that it may help keep gray hair away. Oxidative stress is the state in which your body’s free radicals (from pollution, poor diet, stress) outnumber your antioxidant defenses (from healthy diet).
Graying hair may be an indicator of oxidative stress-induced damage.31 Research has also shown that people with premature graying had a higher level of pro-oxidants and lower levels of antioxidants than those with normal hair.32 As researchers noted in the FASEB Journal, compounds that slow oxidative stress, such as quercetin, may be useful for slowing down or stopping hair graying.33
Support for Vision, Liver Health and Tumor Regression
Other reasons to embrace quercetin-rich foods include its promise for helping to protect vision, with researchers describing its potential effects on degenerative retinal diseases, noting, "Some polyphenols, especially flavonoids (e.g., quercetin and tannic acid), could attenuate light-induced receptor damage and promote visual health benefits."34
Additional research published in the August 2019 issue of Phytotherapy Research concluded quercetin has a beneficial impact on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) "by ameliorating inflammation, oxidative stress and lipid metabolism."35
It may also be useful for fighting cancer. According to research published in 2016, quercetin may trigger tumor regression by interacting with your DNA and activating the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis (the programmed cell death of damaged cells).36 Quercetin was found to induce cytotoxicity in leukemic cells, and the effect was dose-dependent.
Limited cytotoxic effects were also found in breast cancer cells. Overall, quercetin increased the lifespan of at least 40% of mice with cancer fivefold compared to untreated controls. The authors attributed these effects to quercetin's direct interaction with DNA and its activation of the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis, and suggested quercetin's potential use as a cancer therapy adjunct deserves further exploration.
Quercetin may also act as a senolytic agent against senescence-mediated cancer growth.37 Cellular senescence is a dynamic and multistep process associated with alterations in metabolic activity and gene expression.38 This can compromise tissue regeneration and contribute to aging.
On the other hand, by removing senescent cells, which are similar to nonreplicating cancer cells that secrete powerful proinflammatory cytokines that destroy your health, age-related dysfunction can be attenuated and potentially extend lifespan.
What Are the Best Sources of Quercetin?
Quercetin is found in many foods, including citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, broccoli, apples, onions, green tea, red grapes, dark cherries and berries, such as blueberries and cranberries. Among these, the highest levels are found in apples — especially the skins — onions, broccoli, cherries, berries and green tea.39
For an especially concentrated source, consider onion skins. They may have 77 times more quercetin than the flesh.40,41 While consuming onion skins may be unpalatable, consider sipping on a broth made from onion peels for more potent therapeutic effects. Quercetin is also found in medicinal products such as Ginkgo biloba, St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) and elderberry (Sambucus canadensis).
If you’re using quercetin in supplement form, consider taking it at night (with zinc) before you go to bed and you haven’t eaten for at least three to four hours. If you are metabolically flexible, you will dive into nutritional ketosis while you sleep.
The other benefit of taking quercetin at night is to take advantage of its senolytic action to remove senescent cells. You can further optimize quercetin’s senolytic properties if you take it while you are fasting.

Mangalvar Vrat Katha – Reason, Method, and Story behind Tuesday’s Fast
Tumblr media
Mangalvar vrat is a popular fast dedicated to Hanuman Ji on Tuesday. Vrat Katha is read or heard, and people also chant Hanuman Chalisa.
“भूत-पिशाच निकट नहीं आवे।
महावीर जब नाम सुनावे ।।”
The energy, courage, and fearlessness we get just by hearing these lines are out of this world. Lord Hanuman gives us the dare to fight every challenge in life, and his blessings can help humans to excel in life. Imagine if just his name can bring so much liveliness, what his day can do.
Tuesday (Mangalvar in Hindi) is a day for Lord Hanuman; believe it or not, this auspicious day has its own significance. Praying and fasting on this particular day, along with Mangalvar vrat katha, can bring happiness and prosperity.
What is the significance of Mangalvar vrat Katha
Indian mythology believes this vrat flows happiness, success, mental and physical strength, long life, and recovery from illness. Hanuman ji has considered one God present in the world till eternity, and this vrat is one of the simplest methods to seek his blessings. Couples who cannot conceive or are childless for a long period perform this fast to get blessed with a child.
Astrology suggests that a person with weak Mars in his horoscope should keep Mangalvar vrat to overcome the hurdles in life peacefully. It will also help reduce Mangal Dosha (Manglik dosh) with the grace of Hanuman Ji.
Besides mythology and astrology, fasting once a week can improve your metabolism and provide many health benefits.
How can I follow Mangalvar Vrat?
Alongside the significance and beliefs, this fast is blissful and calming, relieving stress and burdens and blessing humans with happiness and prosperity.
Devotees can start fasting on any Tuesday and continue it for 21 weeks. Keeping fast for 21 Tuesdays can vanish all your problems, and you can say goodbye to unforeseen life events.
The procedure is pretty simple as well;
Wake up, take a bath, and wear clean clothes (preferably red)
Sprinkle holy water of Ganga in the whole puja room
Light a diya with ghee and offer sindoor, flowers, betel leaf garland, sweets, and fruits to Hanuman ji
Sit comfortably and begin the puja vidhi. Worship Ganesha, Shree Ram, and Mata Sita, followed by Mangalvar vrat katha and Hanuman Chalisa. (According to Indian mythology Lord Hanuman is a great devotee of the Shree ram, and thus, offering prayers to him beforehand can please him in the simplest manner)
Devotees can also read Sundarkand to seek blissful blessings
Perform an aarti to complete your Puja. Then, distribute the offered sweets (Prasad) to your family.
Have food once in the whole day without onion or garlic and continue the procedure for the next 21 Tuesdays
Perform the same puja vidhi on the 22nd Tuesday and feed 21 Brahmins if possible and complete your fast
The story behind Mangalvar vrat
used to pray to Lord Hanuman to seek his blessings for a healthy child. Once, Nanda went to the dense jungle to pray to Hanuman ji to bless him with a child; on the other side, his wife used to pray to Hanuman ji daily. She used to keep fast on Tuesdays and offer food to Lord Hanuman before having any.
One fine Tuesday, she could not prepare food and feed Lord Hanuman due to another fast. She became sorrowful, slept on an empty stomach, and decided not to eat before offering food to Lord Hanuman until the following Tuesday. She went on fasting for the next six days without water and food.
She fainted early the next Tuesday due to hunger and starvation. Hanuman ji was impressed with her faith and belief and appeared before her. He blessed her with a little boy, Sunanda, named ‘Mangal.’ When her husband returned from the forest, he questioned her about the child, to which she replied with her side of the story.
The Brahim considering it hard to believe, was suspicious and refused to believe the same. One day, when Nanda was leaving for a bath, his wife asked him to take Mangal along, he agreed, but seeking a chance, he pushed the little child to a well
When Sunanda asked him about the child on his return, Mangal returned even before Nanda could respond. While Nanda couldn’t understand what had happened, he slept. Hanuman ji appeared in his dreams and clarified that his wife was right, and he blessed them with a little version of Lord Hanuman and how doubting his wife is a wrongful act of Nanda. After this, the Brahmin got happy, accepted his wife and their son, and the family lived happily. Sunanda continued her Tuesday fasts, and Hanuman ji continued his blessings on them.
Conclusion
To seek Lord Hanuman’s blessings, the most effortless process is the Mangalvar vrat. Change your fortune with this auspicious fasting and get Hanuman ji protection on your health and life.

Note
now tell the folks at home what the Mediterranean diet actually entails
the Mediterranean diet is a diet followed by the people who have lived near the Mediterranean Sea. usually it follows Spanish, south french, Italian, and Greek cultures, but we’re gonna focus on the Italian Mediterranean diet because 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
The guild lines are simple:
EAT OFTEN: fish, vegetables, fruits, legumes (lentils, peas, chickpeas, beans), nuts, seeds, whole grains (oats, barley, bulgur, farro) HERBS AND SPICES, olive oil
EAT IN MODERATION: whole fat yogurt, cheese, eggs, poultry
EAT RARELY: red meat
AVOID: processed foods and sugars, processed oils (seed oils), refined grains, refined meats (hotdogs, cold cuts)
and the best addendum to this diet is you can drink one small glass of red wine a day. the reason for this, funnily enough, is rooted in some science. basic environments in the body cause cancer. wine is acidic. Moderate amounts can balance the basic, cancer causing environments. but of course too much alcohol is a carcinogen. be wary, drink only one glass in moderation, and aim for wines that are sulphate free (can be hard to find), but absolutely LOW SUGAR or SUGAR FREE! this is key - many wines are incredibly sweet. avoid those because that means they have added sugar
another important thing about this diet is that Italians, after dinner, do something called the “passageria” which is a stroll after dinner. if feasible, add this to your dinner routine. it helps with digestion, and sets you up for bed time
this diet has been proven to be good for the heart, for the brain, for blood sugar levels, for inflammation, and for overall longevity
further not every fruit and vegetable is made the same, so here are some of the best for this diet:
vegetables - carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, onions, Brussels sprouts
fruit - apples, berries, citrus, pears, melons
nuts and seeds - almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds, cashews, pistachios
herbs and spices (often a forgotten aspect) - GARLIC!!!!!!, basil, rosemary, oregano, sage, mint, pepper, cinnamon
the reason I stress the last part of herbs and spices is because herbs and spices have sooooo many positive benefits to the body and people forget. it’s a simple and easy way to add healthy flavour to your food! for example, garlic, turmeric and pepper are essential for promoting good gut microbial health by killing anaerobic bacteria and allowing aerobic (good) bacteria to grow. herbs like rosemary are good for blood circulation. herbs like mint are good for stomach pain. So basically, those jokes about “oh the recipe says one clove of Garlic so I added 7!” are… barely jokes and rather excellent guild lines on how to promote a healthy stomach
(Plus another benefit of garlic is that it’s an insect deterrent… I never get mosquito bites, bugs avoid my like the plague.. make if that what you will 😎)
Oh and stop drinking ice cold water. Room temperature waster only
so yeah general guidelines. love to talk and share recipes if anyone wants
happy eating!
