Sam / Darlin Headcanons

[In no particular order]

✩ Sam has stretch marks on his hips and across his back from growing so fast after leaving Mont Blanc

✩ Darlin has a high pain tolerance so they literally don’t realize when they’re seriously injured sometimes

✩ Sam has a lot of faded scars on his hands

✩ Sam is the oldest brother, Darlin is a middle child - they both had to leave their younger siblings behind and still feel bad about it

✩ The younger pack members think Sam is the absolute coolest even though they don’t get to see him very often

✩ Sam still has David’s name saved as Mr. Shaw in his phone

✩ Since Sam convinced Darlin to start eating actual food they are BUILT - their muscles aren’t super lean and defined anymore, but they’re noticeably stronger

✩ Occasionally when they’re stressed Darlin will shift and lay directly on top of Sam like a wolf-shaped weighted blanket

✩ Sam hates the question “are you a tea or coffee person?” because people rarely accept his answer of “both”

✩ Darlin was very uneasy about any kind of physical touch after Quinn, especially skin-to-skin, so they almost exclusively wore clothes that covered their entire body for about a year - they feel safe enough to wear tank tops and shorts now

✩ Darlin likes holding both sides of Sam’s face when they kiss

✩ Sam pretends to be more oblivious to modern media than he really is 

✩ Before turning, Sam needed glasses - for a while afterwards he would still wear them out of habit

✩When shifted, Darlin is one of the biggest wolves in the pack

✩ When he was younger, Sam used to fight in shady arenas for some quick cash

✩ Darlin knows how to play bass

✩ Sam shaved his head after leaving Mont Blanc and after turning as his way of “starting his new life” - he keeps it fairly long now but makes an effort to keep it trimmed and maintained

✩ Darlin has convinced Sam to paint his nails with them at least once

✩ Sam looks like his dad but he has his mom’s eyes and her smile

✩ Sam dances like a tipsy suburban dad at a backyard barbecue

✩ Darlin has a habit of glaring like they’re about to murder the next person who enters their line of sight when they’re actually just thinking about what they want for dinner

✩ Sam was raised on a ranch so he knows how to ride horses, herd cattle, etc.

Fun fact!

Darlin and Sam’s anniversary is technically January 9th.

In the timeline it says nine days after the inversion (New Year’s Eve) is when Sam and Darlin made their relationship official and said they loved each other and Darlin called Sam their Mate.

I know Sam is already a fan favourite but I feel like we don't give his and Darlin's "Cuddles and Confessions" video enough credit.

This man is so fucking in love and so anxious about it. The way he laughs about Darlin noticing his fast heartbeat - like...this man is blushing so hard and contemplating every single move because it had been so long since he last let someone that close. Same for Darlin.

The intimacy in that video is so beautiful. They're both dealing with a shitty situation but decide to put that on hold for one day to spend it with each other LIKE HELLO?!

And then the way his mother hen instincts kick in when he realises Darlin hasn't eaten in a while? And sure he's sassy about it but then makes a point to establish closeness again, not shaming them about it at all.

And then such a beautiful way of confessing his feelings and that soft first kiss?!?! AHEM?!?!

Okay so like I was gonna post this when I had ALL my shaw pack listeners drawn out and put them all in one big line up, but like alot of my friends have gone Feral for this design and I mean like absolutely down bad barking and everything. Thinking about how Tank and David probably see Gabe in each other. Gabe was the closest thing Tank got to a fully functional adult who cared about them and Gabe was David father, they both had deeply personal relationships with Gabe.

It’d be no surprise somethings stuck

It’s no surprise David grew up with similar features as Gabe but there was always such an overwhelming David of how he held himself. Tank though, had no problem seeing how much of Gabe lived in David. Sometimes they’d look up and see David move in such a way it’s like Gabe is right there in front of them. Arms crossed loosely, hands tucked into his armpit, leaning back a bit as David pinched his face a bit more than Gabe would as he listened.

Tank, it’s more subtle, more quiet and something that flys over your head. Something that’s quite normal in things regarding Tank. But David, with years of life with his father and seeing Tank a few times when his dad would pull him and guide a young Tank through the threshold. Tank dressed in a similar way to Gabe, practically and casually; leather jacket attached to their body and old worn jeans with boots that looks like they were older than him. Tank wore looser clothes though, Gabe was fine with more form fitting shirts and pants where Tank tried to hide.

Ok but consider...

Someone shit talks the pack in front of darlin but they don't stop them. Darlin lets them talk, they agree, they even add onto all the person's thoughts and feelings with their own. They have a full on conversation and Darlin lets the feelings fester, all their frustrations with the pack, every time David has pissed them off, every smart comment Milo made, every douchebag statement Christian made, every whiney annoying sentence Asher has ever spewed, it all comes to the surface. Then Darlin punches the shit talker square in the nose. There's a sudden confusion before Darlin leans in over them so that they're face to face with the offender who has since fallen to the ground and is now looking up at Darlin who with their most approachable smile says. "Those are some solid points. Don't ever say that shit again."

I decided to choose violence today and give y’all a somewhat sad Darlin/David headcanon

David usually visits Gabe’s grave during the day and Darlin knows this so they only visit at night.

When Darlin visits they bring new flowers for his grave and take the dead flowers so when David visits he doesn’t have to worry about changing them himself.

Darlin thinks David doesn’t know it’s them but one time David decided to visit Gabe’s grave late at night and seen Darlin talking to his grave while changing the flowers.

David never brought it up to Darlin because he doesn’t want them to feel embarrassed.

But, secretly Darlin want to visit Gabe’s grave with David but is to shy to ask. David feels the same way but doesn’t think Darlin would want to.
