Pro-tip for painting with rollers: i'm a complete amateur but i needed to paint some cabinet doors with latex paint, leaving as smooth of a finish as possible. Prevailing wisdom suggested I use sponge rollers, but they were absolutely awful when it came to consistency and leaving uneven marks. So then i looked up "sponge rollers leaving marks" and the top results were "don't use sponge rollers, they're trash" so lol

anyways, what i ended up doing was going through a series of short nap (short fiber length) rollers until i finally gave in and bought the pricey rollers. however, in this case they were 100% worth it for the job they did. an actual example where money = quality

These 3/16" mohair rollers sold by Redtree are worth every penny. The website only sells them in bulk, but you can find them sold via other hardware stores or online. night and day difference between some synthetic weave and mohair. if the rest of their paint products are as good as these (they have longer nap rollers and brushes) i think all future house painting jobs are going to be using them

I tried my luck at Clanmew oc translations, I'm trying to find something better for Claud and I'm not exactly happy with Siltstar's prefix, but I thought you might want to see it.

CLAUDRAT For now I'm using Paoke'eb for the prefix, a portmanteau of the words for wandered, and squall. Eek is the translation for rat. Peoke'eb. Wander-strong-wind rat.

SNIPVOICE Faine means a sudden clearing of the skies. Ababa is the present tense form of spoke/talked, which was similar enough to voice. Faineababa. Sudden clear talk.

GINGERSTAMP Kemree also means ginger. Yaupab is a portmanteau of the words for loud and pawstep. Kemreeyaupab. Ginger loud-step.

REDTREE Rey is red, and also the color of yew berries, and the translation for trunk is chok. Reychok.

RIPPERCLAW Arrya is the word for ripped in the future tense. kach is the translation for claw. Ripperclaw was a child when he chose his prefix. Arryakach.

ORANGEFLUFF Kemree means orange, hefu means fluffy. Kemreehefu.

FIREFEATHER Swarfyf translates to "set on fire". bufr is the translation for a large wing or tail feather from a bird. Swarfyfbufr.

SILTSTAR Shefsski are the words for sand and ice combined, as DayClan (where Siltstar is from) is a beach clan, I think that this would be the closest approximation. shai is the translation for star. Shefsskishai.

FINCHSTAR Afigu is the word for a finch. shai is the translation for star. Afigushai.

LIMPETSONG Kewikki is the portmanteu of the words for snail and cone. Yanaya is the word for singing. Kewikkiyanaya.

PALEPAW Olurr is the translation for Pale, pwyr is the translation for paw. Olurrpwyr.

Fantastic translations! Shoutout to Snipvoice-- I love the sound of "Sudden Clearing of the Skies Talk," it brings to mind the image of her very voice making the rain clear away suddenly.

Stomping = Bumbuma/Bumbum/Bum

Silt/River Grit = Gssar The fine particles that build up on a thing that stays in water too long. Clan cats don't use the geological definition for this; so it can be translated as 'river grit' too.

To that end, hey. I'm working on writing things. And yes, sometimes my brain rabbit trails and I end up not touching a WIP for months, but I am trying.

I want to tell people about them.

So here, have a list of my current WIPs. All of them;

Lay Your Weapons Down

A fantasy semi-action book about "What happens when a level 20 character gets to finally go home after a years long campaign?". It's very D&D inspired in concept, but an original world and with no meta game terms.

Thorne Dawnwater, the Silver Blade, is finally able to return home to Redtree, the town where she grew up. But time has continued to move as she has been gone and all the changes make it hard for her to settle back in. Not to mention her adventures that kept her away were harrowing and she has yet to lower her guard at all.

Changelings and Scars [very loose WIP title]

Liza is thrown into the realm of Fae and Changelings all too suddenly after she chases her dog into the woods. Fortunately for her, one of the direct overseers of her and the other Taken of this particular Fae's household, a woman by the moniker of "Scars", takes the young girl under her wing immediately. Though how proverbial the wing is remains to be seen. Will Liza be able to leverage Scars' help to return home, or will the attention of "Cicely" her Fae captor only bind her further to the realm?

V:TM v5 nonsense [yes, this is the doc's actual title]

An ongoing short story collection messing around with PCs I've made for the Vampire:The Masquerade TTRPG and how I think they'd get along.

CSD [I've genuinely forgotten what this means.]

The note containing the acronym is lost apparently. I think it had something to do with Cyberpunk Social Deduction, and was a very loose WIP title.

Anyway, it was "What if game of Werewolf, except Cyberpunk?" And that is it. I have characters and potential dynamics, but no clue how to actually make the repetition idea mesh. There is a playlist of character themes tho.

Dark Forest Politics

So, in this AU, the Dark Forest has politics. There are three main factions that have formed by the time of the first arc.

BoneClan

BoneClan is made up of the cats who wish revenge. They hate the clans, and StarClan.

Notable residents are Thistleclaw, Maggottail, Houndleap, Claudrat (OC) and Silverhawk by the time Rusty joins the clans.

Notable future residents are Tigerstar, Brokenstar, Hawkfrost, and Darkstripe.

BoneClan has a sort of rotating leadership, with five cats making the decisions. The leadership rotates when a cat beats one of the leaders in a fight.

The Minders

The Minders are a group who wants to make the Dark Forest better for everyone, and stop all of the violence and disagreeable acts that are occurring.

They are lead by Frey, formerly known as One Eye, one of the oldest members of the Dark Forest.

Notable residents by the time Rusty joins the clans are One Eye, and Frecklewish.

Notable future residents are Juniperclaw, Mudclaw, Stumpytail, and Clawface.

The Deepfallen

The Deepfallen act as a sort of mutual defense pact, where no matter what they are obligated to defend each other from attack.

They do not have a leader, and their founder is the subject of much debate.

Notable residents by the time Rusty joins the clans are Mapleshade (don't worry she's still evil), Sparrowfeather, and Redtree (OC)

Notable future residents are Redwillow, Deerfoot, and Tangleburr.
