Yes! A perfect summary of what I've been trying to learn all about this summer, and also what I'm exploring in my work for my thesis before I complete my undergrad in Global Nutrition and Health. Excerpt is taken from the book "Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming." Highly recommend it for easy to read, highly informative and scientific solutions to reverse global warming and mitigate the effects of climate change by the year 2050 (book is also aesthetically pleasing, reads like a magazine). #GNH #TMA #internship #foodsustainability #regenerativefoodsystems #foodsecurity #healthyearthhealthypeople

Nou gen 3 pye kounye a plen ak fwi ak yon lòt 8 ki gen flè pou premye fwa. Sanble nou pral gen rekòlt djaka tout ane a nan ritm sa a. Did you know that hanging tomato plants upside down not only frees up more ground space but also avoids most pest like snails and slugs. A companion plant can also be planted topside to maximize space and benefits. Hanging upside down also bemeans there's no need for staking and good air flow means that soil borne diseases are also reduced. . . Èske w te konnen ke Lè’w pandye plant tomat yo tèt anba non sèlman libere plis espas, men tou evite pifò ensèk nuizib tankou kalmason. Yon plant konpayon kapab tou plante avè’l pou maksimize espas ak benefis yo. Pann tèt anba vle di tou pa gen okenn nesesite pou jalonj ak bon sikilasyon lè vle di ke maladi tè yo tou redwi. . . #growninhaiti #tomatoes #tomato #upsidedownplanter #haiti #ayiti #companionplanting #regenerativefoodsystems #foodsecurity https://www.instagram.com/p/CmMMl0GuV6k/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Roses are red, violets are blue, but planting a tree shows you care for more than just us two! 🌳❤️ This Valentine's Day, skip the dead flowers and give a gift that keeps on giving. Planting a tree not only shows your love for your significant other, but also for the planet we all call home. Let's spread some love and help make the world a better place, one tree at a time! Happy Valentine's Day everyone! ❤️🌍 . . Roz wouj, vyolèt yo ble, men plante yon pye bwa montre ou pran swen plis pase jis nou de! 🌳❤️ Jou Valentine sa a, bliye flè ki gentan mouri yo epi bay yon kado ki kontinye bay. Plante yon pye bwa pa sèlman montre lanmou ou pou lòt, men tou pou planèt la nou tout rele lakay nou. Ann pataje lanmou epi ede fè mond lan yon pi bon kote, yon pye bwa alafwa! Bòn fèt Valentine a tout moun! ❤️🌍 . . 📸 @pitterpadder . . #GrownInHaiti #AgriNatif #PlantATree #LoveYourPlanet #ValentinesDay2023 #Haiti #Ayiti #RegenerativeFoodSystems https://www.instagram.com/p/CopUqvCOf68/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Just wanted to introduce our, all Haitian, agroforestry team, @agrinatif! Since our beginning in June, we’ve planted well over 500 trees, started two regenerative food systems and aided many neighbors start their journey to a more sustainable path. Please show your support for Peter, Mida, Sorèl and Ande! They’re doing amazing work and have even started training others in our community. Since we started @growninhaiti, seeing these young men and women flourish is my proudest moment 😁 #growninhaiti #agrinatif #haiti #ayiti #regenerativefoodsystems #agroforestry #teamwork #ayisyenpouayiti #sustainable #abundance #nogmos #nopesticides #noherbicides #nochemicals #organic #soilhealth https://www.instagram.com/p/CiImdALuMjO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

When it comes to nutrition, we're not just talking about eating fresh fruits and veggies—palm hearts are also a healthy, sustainable food source. Birds are constantly dropping seeds and instead of removing those that are too close together, I allow them to grow out for a delicious harvest. . . Lè n’ap pale de nitrisyon, nou pa jis pale sou manje fwi ak legim — kè palmis yo tou se yon sous manje ki an sante epi li dirab. Zwazo yo toujou ap jete grenn epi olye pou nou retire sak twò kole yo, mwen pèmèt yo grandi pou’m rekòlte pi devan. . . #growninhaiti #royalpalm #palmheart #heartofpalm #haiti #ayiti #foodsecurity #sustainablefoodsource #regenerativefoodsystems #nutritious #delicious https://www.instagram.com/p/CmJmihJOoBp/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Have you guys ever seen a Hispaniolan Hutia? I actually picked this little guy up thinking it was a baby rat (to get over some fears) and it ended being one of Haiti’s few remaining endemic and endangered mammals. So grateful for this encounter. Thankful that hurricane Fiona missed us and gave us a chance to transplant all these babies. A bunch of rollinia (Annona mucosa) from @beachybryan‘s first harvest of Haitian grown fruits and a ton of wax jambu (Syzygium samarangense), plenty of abiu (Pouteria caimito), and lots of maprang (Bouea macrophylla) from our Hawaiian homie @roikiller 🙌🏾 These were actually started indoors since many of the seeds came already sprouting and now it’s time to adapt them to outdoor conditions. Supposed to be cloudy and rainy for the next few days so it’s an ideal time, from my experience, to get them acclimated without over stressing the plants. Happy planting everyone! 🌱 #growninhaiti #seedlings #saplings #abiu #maprang #rollinia #waxjambu #diversity #nursery #progress #haiti #ayiti #regenerativefoodsystems #abundance #transplant #adaptation https://www.instagram.com/p/CixP1Oyuxkz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Wild harvested wood ears 👂🏽 Wood Ear mushrooms, botanically classified as Auricularia auricula-judae, are an edible ear jelly fungus that is a member of the Auriculariaceae family. Also known as the Cloud Ear, Jew Ear, Black fungus, and Jelly Ear, Wood Ear mushrooms are found in humid, temperate forests. Wood Ear mushrooms are utilized for their chewy texture rather than their mild taste and are a popular textural element in many Asian soup dishes. When cooked, Wood Ear mushrooms are firm, crunchy, and toothsome with a mild, musty flavor. Wood Ear mushrooms contain iron, protein, fiber, and vitamins B1 and B2. In Asia, Wood Ear mushrooms are known as Yung ngo, Kikurage, Mokurage, and Aragekikurage. The Chinese call it "Hei mu-er,” and consider the Wood Ear mushroom to be both edible and medicinal as it has been used since the Tang dynasty from 618-907 BCE. In China, Wood Ear mushrooms are added to dishes to help improve breathing, circulation, sore throats, and wellbeing, and to help reduce colds and fevers. #growninhaiti #woodears #fungi #mycology #forage #wildharvested #mushroom #haiti #ayiti #organic #soilhealth #regenerativefoodsystems https://www.instagram.com/p/CkYDP-bOReA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This is just 3 out of 6 varieties of guavas growing in our food forest. Ensuring genetic diversity is important because it can strongly influence the long-term viability of plant populations, and their ability to adapt to changing climatic and environmental conditions.
