Childe giving us a piece of the All-Devouring Narwhal (Lightless Mass, to be specific) for his birthday just has me thinking of Foul Legacy managing to take a hefty bite out of said Narwhal's hide.
Presents gift proudly.
~ The anon who wanted Kaveh but didn't want Baizhu or Ganyu
THIS IS SO FUNNY AND ALSO DEFINITELY SOMETHING HE WOULD DO
you know Childe LOVES taking a few hours off during his birthday to go wander around and fight various creatures, so you're not too surprised when the house is empty as you come home from work. every year you get him a little gift, and every year he brings you triumphant spoils from his little hunting spree- you wrap the tiny glass whale in a box with a deep azure ribbon, the paper decorated with tiny silver stars. Childe and Foul Legacy were always delighted by anything shiny... although you can't say you're that different. all of you have crow and magpie brains, at the end of the day. there's a click as the door unlocks, your hands neatly tying a bow, and you glance up at the sound of heavy, eager footsteps
Foul Legacy stands happily behind you, night-colored armor caked in starry blood and goop, looking very VERY pleased with himself- and for a good reason. between his sharp teeth and powerful jaws is a chunk of... something. it's dark and faceted and glittering with countless speckles of cold light, and Legacy proudly drops it on the table and nudges it towards you. whatever it is, it'll look perfect on your shelf of cool rocks, your hand raising and gratefully patting his head. Legacy rumbles, tilting this way and that so you scritch the BEST spots. when he opens his crystalline eye again there's a small gift in his hands, the very same one you wrapped, and he trills and chirps in delight upon seeing the delicate glass whale, gently scooping it up and placing it directly on top of the otherworldly fragment he brought for you
perfect.

Quick Borzoi before bed. I think I'm getting the hang of the individual parts of the Borzoi, but might need some work putting them together. What do you think? 🤔

They better not sacrifice anything living because I would cry
Like idk if it's hilichurls, slimes, animals- if it's got a pulse it better not end up on an altar of any kind, unless it's to show off how cute it is and that's it
Food sacrifices are okay though. Need some of those wolf berries
I imagine most of the sacrifices would be in game items, maybe even things they've taken notice of you farming because the whole point of a sacrifice is to appease you, meaning they would probably start with what they know you like
I've also seen it written that sacrifices could be transferred as in game mail, similar to birthday letters with things attached, maybe the things attached in the birthday letters are sacrifices 🤔
Now if they got desperate they might try some more "creative" solutions, but that's kind of a last resort 'nothing else seems to be working' sort of situation, so you can probably avoid them going to those extremes, but I guess it all just depends on how you act in game
Like if you ruthlessly kill all the animals you come across, intimidate certain npcs, rush into monster camps even if there isn't any reward etc etc, well, they might interpret that as you being more ok with certain actions on your behalf, you didn't like that npc anyway right :)
Now if you're more of a 'collect everything you see' hoarder then you're going to get a large variety of offerings, from fruit to stones to books to weapons and artifacts to any other in game item, though the weapons and artifacts probably won't be of particularly high quality considering they can only get these items in the general overworld and not through domains, but you could still use it as ascension material so no harm done
I imagine offerings would be heavily specialized per character as well, everyone has a different interpretation on what you like and don't like based on how you act when playing them, so it's anyone's guess

Tell me one of your favorite and least local dish!
Omg nobody asked me this before but djfjslaksla okay so like there's this one dish that i really really like its Chicken Coconut Curry with Green Chilli (or in my native language its called Masak Lemak Cili Api) and oh god Im so obsessed with this dish, if I ever go to a local restaurant for lunch I will order this with sides of white rice and spiced fried chicken. Idk how to explain the flavor but it doesnt taste like a curry really, its more like a creamy tumeric with a heavy hit of chilli (which is why it's yellow). I am a picky eater but I would literally add more rice if my mom ever cooks this at home.

Seasia cuisine is very flavorful and unique and I cant deny it but sometimes I just don't like some of it.
Tumblr media
Everyone like Sambal Belacan (it's a sambal made of shrimp paste usually mixed with chillies, onions and lime juice) I dont really consider this as a main course dish but more like a side dish where you eat with raw veges and herbs or as an accompanying dish to white rice. I don't want to yuck someone's yum but for me it just smells too strong to me like if you ever smell shrimp paste you understand how overpowering the smell is. It's also usually made raw and not cooked on a stove and personally Im a bit picky when its related to raw food.

I should not have to give my location, select a restaurant, pretend like I'm actively ordering, and have to wait until you are actually open to look at your menu.

i'm comfortably into my two part time jobs and still training for my third job (which'll eventually be part time up to full time).
this third job is like... i referred to it before as my ~dream job~, but that's only half true.
i'll be getting to do thing i've always wanted to do, but under a broader umbrella that includes things i never thought i'd get into. for years, ppl have been telling me that i should try it bc i'd be good at it, but i just assumed i wouldn't be. but now that i'm like 1/3 of the way through my (intense, partly self-assigned, mostly self-directed) training... i might actually be REALLY good at this. it's much more medically complicated and interesting than i thought, plus would actually allow me to use the deep foundational knowledge of food that i built from the same passion that brought me to this field in the first place.
but boss told me i have to declare sub-specialty areas of expertise, so they know what kinds of cases to give me. i'm like. i just started my career. and my other two jobs are in a totally different and basically irrelevant area. i started building my bio for the website and i was freaking out bc the only areas i could think of were like. conditions/identities i have or my loved ones have. that's fake bullshit! experience does not equal expertise!
but then i remembered that my own perspective has driven my experience in preparing for this field. throughout my higher level academic practice, internship experience, and even formal recreational learning, i have consistently chosen to do work that revolves around these facets of my life. i once joked with my best friend that the running throughline of my gradschool experience was i love autistic people and fat people and trans people actually. i chose to focus on those things and developed expertise out of that love! and i also had to remind myself that sometimes it's not all about expertise. it's also about familiarity and comfort. when you have to be vulnerable with someone, having to educate them about the basics of your lived experience is an extra burden. if you don't have to worry about that, you can put more energy into working on the things that matter to you.
i do not love my chronic illness, however, but suffering can be a good motivator, so i have learned so much about it just so i can try to live with it. i have a pubmed alert set up to send me every new study about it for fucks sake. it's a weird little illness and most of the good data on it is very very fresh (<5 years), so it's hard to find a healthcare practitioner who knows how to treat it well. for example, my old doc put me on a treatment regimen that i now know--with MY expertise--may have caused permanent damage to my body! the benefits did not outweigh the risks! but it's standard therapy. it shouldn't be! and now i can be loud about that, with evidence that i can present to the people who make those decisions!
anyway, it's cool to know that everything i've been through is now benefiting me as a professional. and to know that my loved ones have not only supported me through all this, but also made me better so that i can help them and more people like them. plus, my job will put me in a position to argue work with doctors! which i was dreading, but now i'm kind of looking forward to!
i'm getting to a point where i've barely started my career but i can start to see how it'll go, pivoting in a different direction than i initially planned, but maybe one that'll be better! i worry that i will become a workaholic like my mom, but maybe again my illness will be a benefit, because maybe my body won't LET me do that. i'm excited to see what will happen! but for now, lemme get back to my studying.

of course the first thing im doing before outlining a fic or writing out character ideas is putting together a playlist and i'm sO HAPPY getting to use this much Fearless. normally i tend to stay away from anything pre-red era bc those emotions are clearly a younger person's emotions, and i don't write much for young characters but like.....im :')
