Also, curiosity, what’s your take on Amelie’s personality for Scarlet Lady? Just curiosity. Cause siblings in canon are usually opposites. So, this mean SL!Amelie, instead of main character syndrome, has background character syndrome? Or low self-Steem?

I'd put SL Amelie as So Normal. Like she's born into this bizarre English family that still does arranged marriages in this day and age (not totally knocking the practice, but it's definitely implied it's being done against Emilie's and Amelie's wishes), has a super dramatic sister who runs off with her equally dramatic husband (who Amelie barely likes) to become a fashion mogul's actress wife, rubbing elbows with the Mayor of Paris and a bunch of weird rich people who throw bizarre Diamond Dances to show off their kids as if they're a spectacle and holding Eyes Wide Shut parties in their house.

And Amelie's just like "anyway" on the sideline.

been thinking about my drifter for so long and finally i was able to draw him... almost for the first time since 2021.... they're growing so fast 🤧🤧

close ups and a few thoughts about him are below!

(sorry for any mistakes I still use my poor knowledge of english in tandem with a translator 😔)

• In Duviri, he wore a mask of Guilt for so long that at some point, thanks to a conceptual embodiment, it literally replaced his face. It was only after Teshin appeared that he remembered what normal people should look like, tore it off his face (bodyhorror intended) and manifested a new one.

• He tried to grow the same magnificent beard as Teshin's, but he only got a thin mustache, which he left. Thrax laughed so hard in that loop that it set a record for the longest undying time. Later, they cut off his head anyway, but the next few spirals were painfully Joyful.

• Since after escaping from Duviri (which he left literally in ruins), he still had no idea what the paradox was or what the hell was going on in the Original System. So he was initially motivated only by a desire to repay the debt to this mysterious Other Side. But later, after getting to know Ordis and finding Lotus, this struggle with Narmer became a personal crusade for freedom. Or another role that he imposed on himself.

• There was too much of a shared past between him and Operator, weighed down by his own feelings of abandonment, envy, unwillingness to let go, and fear of loss. Therefore, he decided nothing better than to push away and run again. For half a year he drifted in search of his place and himself, until the Song sounded on the system. He was the only one of them two who remembered Zariman completely, so he rushed to the ship, knowing that the Operator would be there. The idea of being alone in the main place of their nightmares overcame his own horror of the place. He couldn't let that happen.

• Unlike Ole (Operator), he still does not have a specific name, and some kind of feeling does not allow him to choose a new one for himself. But he really loves the nicknames that others give him with all his heart: names from Ordis, Cavia, Syndicates and even the inhabitants of Duviri firmly occupy a place in his soul, as his personal treasure. "If you give something a name, it means you recognize that it exists" — and judging by how many names The Hex gave to him, he really is seen and recognized.

I think it’s less that Lucanis dislikes planning or does not plan (I think he quite likes having A Plan, actually, if only to riff off of and even if that plan js extremely simple a la stabbing a cloud) so much as he enjoys looking for and/or leaving himself room for improvisation. He is a professional who has been doing practically the same job for years. If you believe he’s been taking contracts since he was at least 18, and that he’s 35ish by the time of Veilguard, that’s nearly two decades of working as an assassin, with an unknown chunk of that time dedicated to specializing in mage-killing. Long enough to know even the most well-thought out plan will go awry in his line of work simply for who his targets often are. Long enough to have gained the level of experience necessary to be able to improvise as successfully as he does. It’s the difference between a professional athlete/musician/artist and a hall of famer. It’s the thing that sets him apart from any other Crow and makes his particular set of skills needed by the Veilguard team.

We know that he’s good at his job, enough to have a reputation outside of the Crows for his work, and part of that is, yes, presenting as bit of a wild card to would-be enemies so that he doesn’t become predictable. Which… does actually require a level of forethought to keep from unintentionally falling into the same patterns. We see in WMJ how much pre-planning went in to getting inside the party—unless you believe he just has enough latent knowledge of Vyrantium’s layout to be able to use the aqueducts or that all elves just inherently trust him with their secret passages or that he dragged Illario along with him and gave him access to the dossier he wrote on the target for no reason. Also, too, if you believe said dossier does not contain anything he would have had to spend time gathering and compiling and only info he got… passively? I guess??

Most of his behavior in Veilguard reads to me as someone who is internalizing enough failure to doubt all of his abilities and also is reacting to the reality they know too little about what they’re up against—improvisation is really all he’s able to do. Setting aside the fact that he’s not the boss of this job and consistently offers his thoughts during team meetings, the whole team is flying by the seat of their pants and relying on their skills to carry them through. This is reinforced over and over again as the plot progresses. More to the point, it’s consistently highlighting how high the stakes actually are and how skilled the team is that they’re able to keep adapting.

Idk it’s just more interesting to me that Lucanis seems to be someone who thinks in terms of variables (to say nothing of what the unpredictability of his childhood likely endowed him with irt how he approaches the world) and leans into his ability to pivot and adapt (which is not a skill many people have or understand irl tbh and it is a skill), not because of an allergy to planning or inability to stick to a plan, but because he does plan enough and is so confident in what he does that he intentionally leaves himself room to go off script when it becomes necessary— and for him it is a when, not an if. Something something his rebellions against Caterina. It makes his self-doubt in VG hit harder, tbh. The one thing he’s been raised to be good at and he’s failing at it. It’s gifted child burn out in extreme mode while he’s working under conditions he legitimately cannot plan for in the way he would any other contract. Which the team keeps having to remind him of.

It is additionally more interesting to me that Lucanis is someone who has earned his ability to improvise over some… natural ability at winging it and keep coming out alive bc idk assassin prodigy.

They go from eating fucking nutrient cubes aboard the Zariman to not eating anything for thousands of years while they spiraled in Duviri* to eating whatever small batch, nutritionally optimized algae-paste -type shit they eat on the orbiter** to GREASY MALL PIZZA. This post was in regards to a rally that was taking place for these 3 terrorists. Also, guess who was at that rally? The Speaker of Punjab Provincial assembly (Pakistani Punjab).

Kasuri was outright flaunting the infamy he gained for this terror attack. He was enjoying the fame of being attached to a terror attack.

Talha Saeed, son of Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed, along with Malik Ahmad Khan, speaker of the Punjab assembly - something that once again laid bare Pakistan's claim of having taken action against terrorists. Talha publicly lauded Pakistan's so called Bunyan al-Marsoos operation, in retaliation to India's Operation Sindoor. "Allah loves those who engage in jihad," he said while Kasuri and others cheered.

It's quite fascinating how Pakistan even has the audacity to tell India to give proof, when their own leaders engage with terrorists near their capital Islamabad, and are cheered on by hundreds of people. Pakistan WAS and IS a terrorist state

nanako would maybe make an appearance over a call or something in narukami's s.link at most due to yknow. being in inaba, but i imagine narukami bringing her up a lot in s.link events! p5si takes place in the 2019-2020 school year, so nanako would be a 1st year at yasogami at this point in time. just a year behind akane
