like i know the religious symbolism in evangelion is there to look cool but rei's connection to lilith is meaningful To Me specifically even though it wasn’t intentional.

lilith, mother of demons, the first woman, who became the first succubus when she refused to be subservient to adam. rei, born from lilith in a sense, bearing her soul. in a way, almost a mockery of the idea of lilith- not only being created by force, by extracting the soul of a restrained, captive lilith, but being young, being a clone, being the furthest thing from a temptress.

but all those things affect how she’s seen, aren’t they? shinji views her like a mother figure. she's labelled as the first. and, sickeningly, her own creator, her father, views her as a subservient doll to serve as an emotional replacement for his dead wife at the minimum, grooming her into at the very least an emotionally incestous relationship she literally does not know isn’t normal. rei herself is none of those things, but she is forced into the role of lilith nonetheless. and lilith is forced into being a mockery of herself, subservient and controlled. rei is, in a sense, eve. the perfect, cloned woman. no matter if that’s what she wants or not.

and it’s not what rei wants. rei embraces lilith- embracing rebellion- and she becomes one, regardless of what her creator desires. after all, even eve ate the apple. after having adam forced upon her, like lilith was forced to lie underneath him, she rejects that and merges on her own terms with both adam and lilith. adam, eve, lilith, all in one. she is all of humanity- very literally, after third impact. gods creation usurping him.

so imagine with me for a second. you're a demon right. you're a demon who's been feeling pretty shaky in your identity because you were born a demon and people say this is all you can be, and then youre out possessing some fuckin housewife for the weekly possession quota your boss has in place for reasons you're not allowed to question, but you're kinda feeling like shit so the projectile vomit is more of a stream and you've resorted to insulting the husband's search history on google, and then in comes the most sopping wet pathetic and hilarious preacherman you ever did see, and he's so hot and weirdly charming in how bad he is at exorcism you decide to really play up getting exorcised so you can get sent home early but also you can't stop thinking about his kind eyes as he finally takes the woman you're possessing in his arms and you get the distinct impression that he's not looking at the woman, he's looking at you, like he sees you underneath it all and his voice is so pitying and gentle as he says, "may the lord bless your journey home" and you're haunted because. what could a demon have done to earn so sincere a blessing?

( max irons, cis male, he/him, 36) ** ♔ announcing aleksander romanov,  the czar of russia! in a recent portrait they seem to resemble max irons. it is a miracle that he survived the last five years and for that reason, they are against the kingdoms working together. reflecting on them now, they remind me of blood on fresh snow, sharp blade, imperial easter eggs, fur trim.

Since becoming Tsar in his 20s, every year brings a tighter reign Aleksander has on his people and his family. Some describe him as vile and always plotting the next calculated power move to make Russia stronger. Aleksander is all about keeping a false illusion that all is well in his marriage, his family, and his country. He will deny outright truths, and by the end of discussion; have the other party convinced he knows better. Nothing could be further from the truth. Behind closed doors he cares little for his wife, their personalities always clashing. He is sure to let her know that he married her for Russia’s security; and the least of all love. On the outside, this Tsar is as religious and pious as his forefathers’ but the reality Aleksander regards the following of religion as reserved for the weak-minded. He is not above using it to further his power over his kingdom or his siblings. He might be outright dismissive of their feelings and plans their marriages for Russia’s future. 

Despite all of this strength of mind and power of will, he is relatively less controlling and more calm in the presence of nature. He enjoys equestrian hobbies and bestowing the few he has admiration for with elegant gifts.

Zeke is one of the most wholesome clergy men I’ve ever seen. He is never not adorable when it comes to relationships, romantic or platonic. The way you write him helps to remind me of the nicer aspects of Abrahamic faiths that tend to be overshadowed by...well, I don’t think I need to elaborate here. You put a lot of research into it, and I can definitely respect that.

Feste also seems like a cool character, though I haven’t been able to come up with a good scenario for interaction yet. Maybe you can think of something? ;;

PEACHES. okay this is gonna get long so I’mma throw this under a read more. you have no idea how much this excited me. 

TW for infant death, abuse, rape, drug dealing, smuggling, religious themes, sex trafficking, drug trafficking, gang violence, and more. 

When Josie was born, Ruth had already been accepted as the next heir and baptized. As Josie was declared deceased at birth, her first breath being taken in that of the underworld, it wasn’t looking too good for her. as the second born, her mother decided she didn’t want Josie; upon being brought back to life via the curse of Mama (a celestial being that has been there since the beginning of the universe and regulates the death channels between realms) and the sacrifice of her own maternal grandmother (grandmother gave up her soul in exchange for Josie’s, as nothing comes free and equivalent exchanges are essential). She is birthed by her mother and tended to by Lakenn, watched over by Edalina, and visited by Magnolia. 

the odds were already stacked against her. She is rejected by her mother and Ruth is taken away from her. Josie goes to her father for early childhood rearing. since their parents didn’t live together, and her father traveled a lot for work (i.e., crime/mob boss things). 

Josie developed as a child normally would, but a tad bit faster and more advanced. like in days, she was already rolling over and putting herself to sleep. she would sleep during the mornings and daytime and be awake during the evenings. She is with her Father until she’s about 6 years old and she doesn’t have very many emotions (nephilims and angels lack emotions at first and develop them through exposure to humans). 

Josie was raised by herself and kept in a cabin on the outskirts of towns. as faerie buildings appear and disappear with the changing of dawn to dusk, she was often spending time in the forest ... being trained to hunt and kill whatever. she would be left with compasses and one knife (dull) and timed to see how long it would take her to come back to her father’s house. if she failed, she’d be placed in an even worse environment and made to do it again, but with more of a time crunch. 

she begins developing empathy and other emotions when she’s reunited with Ruth, who had been around humans her whole upbringing. Josie’s upbringing involved training missions, learning weapons, tailoring her diet to that of a soldier, physical training, and so on. her father had been created to be the perfect warrior, and he expected no less from his children. 

Josie and Ruth live together until they are about 8. They move into the main household with their mother, brothers, and sister Minerva. The twins are kept in a separate building (think of a tower) and left there to study, train, and discover their powers. 

Josie is about 7 when Tristessa is killed, and she brings Trissy back from the brink but was unable to retrieve the entirety of the faerie’s soul, so it resets during great periods of stress. 

Upon hearing that there is not only a damned nephilim family, but one of them being able to bring back the deceased/work with souls, and the other child able to read worlds into existence, the twins became prized. they were hunted by angels and demons alike - often, nephilims are killed in utero and the mother dies; sometimes they’re killed in early childhood if angels or demons or inbetweens can get their hands on them. They would be beneficial as pawns to manipulate, meat to curate and consume, and the ground-up powder of their bones could be used in dark magic spells. Overall, nephilims are like a Cash Cow that are ready to slaughter. Its easier to get one’s hands on them when they’re young, dumb, and considerably weak. 

So a plan emerges that involves both twins being kidnapped while their father and mother are away. With their siblings preoccupied with a distraction of some sort, the girls are lured out of the magical forest and into the cages of holy bars. Think of the tale of the Pied Piper - in my lore, the Piper was a faerie who consumed children or sold them for profit. The Pearle twins are lured away with the music, taken by demons, and hidden deep underground. While there, they are starved, beaten, and caged. Whatever way there was to make them weaker, more malleable, more… obedient(?), the better. Neither girl really had her powers activated yet, except for Josie who brought back one(1) person from the brink of death and didn’t do it correctly. 

First they were sold off to the highest bidder. When Ruth was about to be sacrificed or slain first, Josie’s powers fully activate and she gains her wings (having one’s wings allows them to fly, be “on the radar” of other angels/nephilims, powers activate, etc). With her sudden appearance on the angel’s radar, her brothers and sister were able to find them and save them before any more neglect, abuse, and trauma could be dealt. 

As the girls were kidnapped under their parents watchful eye, and Josie’s powers having activated (which meant she was kinda like a ticking time bomb of When things would get worse, what sort of special talent she would have as her mother was a witch, etc). So she is taken into custody by her older brother Leonard and under constant monitoring, she is trained again to expand upon her gift. 

Which led to the ballet programme disguised as supernatural trafficking she was involved in. The Pearles would find supernatural beings, pay their family for them, and they would be taken to learn “ballet” or, rather, be taught to fight to the death. Josie is here until she’s roughly 12 years old. This is where she meets Nihara, Irissa, and Melody. The four of them are the lone survivors when the center is attacked by angels and other candidates are killed. 

When Josie wasn’t being trained, she would be moving from area to area, hunting supernatural creatures that harmed humans and following her brothers around to slay pedophiles, child traffickers, abusive significant others, and more. With Josie posed as bait, she would take the lives of the men and women who committed such crimes and free their victims. Or, if that wasn’t possible, find the remains and make anonymous tips to the police and settle cold cases. If a man, woman, child, or young person of the LGBTQIA+ community was wrongfully killed, their case would be looked at and the Pearles would try to solve it. 

(Of course, while the older Pearles were involved in this lifestyle for a while, they were also handling the dirty underbelly of society by taking out corrupt politicians, having their hands in every country’s pocket [their father ruled the heavens and had influences on every major country too], and finding and destroying human trafficking rings. But they’d support drug trafficking for the financial part of it - but they’d sell pure narcotics to dealers who would take it upon themselves to lace it with dangerous chemicals. Any money earned would be reinvested in the community, mostly for the lowerclass and ghettos. So yes, this is VERY dirty money).

But that doesn’t mean all of their kills were “good for the cause”. Wiley and Miles were serial killers who targeted men (abusive, dangerous men, politicians and priests and so on). Eventually, the spirits of those who felt they were “wrongfully” killed would haunt Josie and beg for resurrection. 

And eventually, she broke down. 

Around that time, her younger sister Hunter was born. And Josie…. Comes back to life for that little girl and promises her that she will protect her. Despite her own hands being dirty, Josie eventually comes clean to the cops about what’s been happening in her family without mentioning other gangs. She is roughly 13 when Theodosia and Minerva are attacked, molested, and stabbed, and her childhood house burnt down. All because Josie opened her mouth to the cops and rival gangs stepped up to kill them. 

She tries to go on the good path afterwards, but first …. She slaughtered the entire faction who had dared touch Theodosia and Minerva’s bodies. Maxine is born around this time, and her father slays her mother. Now armed with three children, two of them under 5 and one of them so psychologically and physically damaged that she can barely stand being alone, Josie…. 

Josie does what she feels she needs to. And that’s to tell the truth about what’s actually happening, all the gnarly bits and bloody edges. She shows evidence of murder weapons, bodies lain in mass graves, how they received their wealth …. And as she was technically an accessory, she has to sell off a majority of the non-dirty money she owned to bail herself out. 

Her father and brothers are killed in the following months, and their gang seeks a new leader - Ruth - who keeps them on the straight and narrow. Josie had to choose between her little sisters and the people who raised and abused her.

And Josie ... Josie chose her little sisters. She’s still technically in trouble with the law, but many of those involved in her case see her as a victim as much as an accessory so she’s paying off fines and doing community service. 

And her background changes slightly depending on the timeline.
