Sooooo I did a thing and bought an Xbox 360 to replay all the DA games…. all because I’m making their full blown timelines and couldn’t remembered the choices I made (even with DA Keep’s help) buuutttt I also wanted to fix the mistakes I made - like… ignoring zev… but anyway this is that and it’s A LOT! Still got more to add but lynas will be done once I’ve finished dao again!

Saw your before and after drawing and was wondering what kind of drawing exercises you do? Your art is awesome btw

awww thank you <3 I appreciate it!! 🥹💙 I practice shapes and curves since I like to draw the body a lot. I’ll even draw stick figures over and over with dorito shaped bodies if I can��t get it right. and sometimes intended art just gets left at wonky doodles and you move on and try again.

When I’m bored I sometimes go hunting for body drawing tutorials for angles I’m struggling with, and they show the shapes used for it, to break it down. I keep practicing it until it molds into how I want to interpret it. I promise you give different artists the same pose and it will beautifully expressed in different ways.

I encourage to just keep doodling. And always keep references to help you. Sometimes it comes easy and I can just GO if I have a pose or expression in mind. sometimes I can’t draw a smile for the kriff’n life of me. I have so many unpublished art just cause it didn’t turn out the way I wanted, but I keep them because it reminds me that practice just really is the heart of art <3

After years of wanting one, but not being able to justify the price tag, I finally treated myself to a PS5. It's been an incredibly rewarding weekend getting to play Spiderman 2 for hours upon hours and not have to worry about work for a while. It's been a stressful year, especially these last few weeks, and I still have a ton of stuff to get done before our winter break, so this was a much needed respite to relax and recharge for the next couple weeks.

I still intend to play Reload, buuuuuut due to now knowing there's no FeMC/no male party member social links, it's dropped just a bit on my priority list... I guess I'll watch playthroughs of the P3P romance routes when I play it.

I think I might go in reverse order and replay P4G, *then* Reload... Although, copypasta aside, I also want to play a real SMT game, just not sure in what order I'll do all of those.

I forgot how absurdly easy Persona combat is (even while playing Royal I was like "wow this is too easy I need to raise the difficulty" only to realize it was already on "merciless" 😭) and SMT is apparently basically post-apocalypse Persona with amped up difficulty so I think I'd like it.

But also, I need you to know that only after typing all of this did I scroll back up to read the rest of the ask and you can do WHAT NOW—

Also sharing a story idea that's been eating me when drawing Yu and typing it out before I forget lolol (It's gnawing me to the point that I drew them first before the chars I use in the fanfic I'm already typing)

Summary/Prompt: A regular faceless npc student suddenly remembers his past life and all previous timelines during the 8th time loop. But without Yu and Grim anywhere, he doubts that they're going to survive this year if he does nothing.

More hcs:

Appearance of White is based off on White Rabbit, while Vaughn is based on how I remember student npcs froms the game ToT

While White also vaguely remembers his past life, he does know that he had a sister who had been the one who told him basically how the story of TWST goes

1st timeline also had no Yu nor Grim, and White got pulled out from the school after being heavily injured when Riddle had overblotted. He kept in touch with Vaughn, from whom he heard that the academy had gotten dangerous with some more overblots or with the way some Dormleaders runs their house/handles their students

2nd-7th timeline had different Yu's depending on timeline, but Grim and the way how some certain students overblots was always the same.

White does not remember anything from the near end of school year onwards, or the days after the Ramshackle prefect returns to their world.

White had shared the story to Vaughn who believes him despite not completely getting it.

They try to find a way to prevent other students from overblotting, and figure out what had caused the time loops and why only White remembers.

The disparity between Nintendo’s promotion of Pikmin vs their promotion of totk is honestly killing me. Sure they probably don’t need to promote totk all that hard since it was so highly anticipated, but seeing the Pikmin plushes, official Pikmin merchandise collabs, Pikmin-themed Nintendo online rewards, Pikmin posts on NoA social media, Pikmin on the official Nintendo magazine cover, and even a Pikmin-themed Christmas commercial compared to… 2 totk posts in the last month even after it’s been nominated for a goty award is funnier than it has any right to be. The totk amiibo figures that everyone was hyped for when the game first came out released on November 2nd and they made like one announcement about it. I only found out they existed because I went into GameStop last week and there was a pile of Ganondorfs beside the register. If someone told January 2023 me which game would get multiple sold out merch lines + a weekly manga and which one would be overshadowed by the release of splatoon 3 amiibo I would not have believed them

Pikmin 4 could be improved by. Some of the dialogue being cut down as good as it is because in the early game it really messes with the pacing which is silly for a game like pikmin where the gameplay gimmick Is your pacing

im not sure if its possible or wise to attempt to recreate a game made in rpgmaker in renpy. but regardless i am learning renpy bc the engine dialtown was made in is $80 & idk if i care to wait until it goes on sale

Continued thoughts on ex astris:

-fought the first boss to really use complex attack patterns and it is really fun to counter/dodge those kinds of attacks

-the enemy designs continue to be really really good, said boss is my favorite so far

-the combat system keeps getting more complicated (this is a very good thing)

-the game is surprisingly lowkey about there being side quests, and about informing you about the rewards for doing side quests. I found this a little confusing. The quests themselves have been strong so far though, with them fitting in naturally with the context of the world and providing some extra background to the world

-localization may apparently be getting a fix-up which is very good news

-the story has started to complicate a bit and I’m interested in where it’s going

-the journal is great, especially for someone like me who loves logbooks and bestiaries in games, but I have noticed that it occasionally gives information slightly ahead of what the player has actually experienced in-game. It’s not super egregious though

-starting to think about how I might want to replay this game in the future like I do with a lot of other rpgs I like, which is certainly a testament to how much I like the game so far. Specifically, I think the amount of tutorials could be a bit of a pace-breaker for the earlier game if you already know what to do, and it seems like most of the customization options appear gradually as you progress through the game, meaning the first hour or so on a replay might be a bit repetitive. Then again, the first hour also has some unique locations, events, and enemies that you wouldn’t have seen for a while, plus a lot of unexplained terms and concepts that you would now have context for, so that might be enough to keep it interesting (this is so long-term that I’m not even sure why I’m thinking about this, I’ve basically barely started the game)

-the story has a very different approach to that used in arknights and I find that very interesting. Arknights has a deeply personal story that treats each character as a realistic person and uses these nuanced, complex characters to tackle tough societal issues. Ex astris feels very detached in comparison, most of the side characters feel more like representations of what the people in its world would be like rather than complex individuals, and it feels like the player is then left to imagine for themself what a real person in this world would be like. The npcs feel like how they would be in older rpgs where they act mostly just to serve a purpose for providing a specific bit of extra worldbuilding, facilitating a side quest, or hinting to gameplay mechanics. I think this works just fine for the tone of the game, I think I like it even, I just thought it was interesting
