Prompt: You know how with the second replay of a route you can read from ‘his pov’? Well, consider this your second playthrough before the Romantic route comes out.

It had been a few days after the arrival of the new Azuchi princess that lord Mitsuhide had summoned me.

“Keep an eye on the foundling.”

The smile on my lord’s face explained all that I needed to know. To be lord Mitsuhide’s vassal means to be embroiled in an intelligence network, as well as quick wit to come by, after all.

“Yes, my lord.”

With that being said I set out to keep my eye out on the new princess. A mysterious lady that had suddenly appeared from the smoke in the Honno-ji fire and saved lord Nobunaga in great grandeur.

I have been tasked to look into her background, however I haven’t gotten anywhere as of yet. Strange, but that had been everything related to the new princess.

(Mysterious, yet easy to read… And very amusing.)

Conspicuously she checked if the coast was clear. Conspicuously she tiptoed her way over to the gate, sticking to the walls and walking in the shadows as she kept on checking the path.

(Even dressing in drag would have been a better idea.)

And now I had her here, in the Akechi manor after tricking her into following me. I still remember her sweat streaked expression when I startled her, my old habit of moving without sound catching up with me before I had realised it.

(Lord Mitsuhide is rubbing off on me.)

But that wasn’t what occupied my thoughts right now. My worries extended to the additional task Mitsuhide had placed upon me, along with the strange items I had found within [Name]’s room.

(A square black item that lit up when I pressed it at its side, a plastic card that stated her identity accompanied with a highly realistic painting, and a strangely bound book. The princess truly is a mystery.)

They didn’t seem like the products the missionaries had introduced into our markets from their western countries. It didn’t even seem like anything belonging to this era.

(But that would be outrageous, not?)

However, mystery or not, I know that she is feeling miserable because of everything. If only because she doesn’t smile so brightly anymore as when I offered to help her out at the gates.

(But how does one cheer someone up?)

My capabilities reach far and I’m versatile, but cheering up a princess has never been my task. It is lord Mitsuhide who does the front-end of pleasing people, I merely support from the shadows.

Just as I’m pondering this I pass by a stand selling sweets, the sweet scent of it reminding me of times long ago.

(All good students need a reward at times and [Name] has been very diligent.)

I tell myself this, but I know that the reality of it is that I don’t want to see [Name] upset anymore. The downtrodden image doesn’t suit her and neither does melancholy.

(I also have to apologise for trampling onto her hope for escape.)

But strategy is still on the schedule for today and I cannot defy my orders just yet. Name will have to suffer a bit.

“[Name]?”

I can hear her groan as she tries to sit up from her position, her body stiff and sore from the physical training I put her through. I don’t miss the way her eyes darken at the Go board, clearly not looking forward to another round either but composing herself.

(Time to throw out the treats.)

Producing the little gifts that the other warlords have gifted her I keep a careful eye on [Name]’s expression as she stares at the items in bewilderment, her lips parting as she examines the teaslab that lord Hideyoshi gifted her.

(These are expensive gifts. But I get a feeling that her wonder comes from another direction.)

“Did they also send this?”

“That looks mouth watering good!”

“Break time?”

But despite her childlike curiosity for the other items, ultimately she reaches out for the sweets I picked up for her earlier on the market, eager to have them.

(A simple snack could not measure up against these gifts. Yet you seem to prefer it over everything else.)

“I thought you might want something to encourage you.”

The smile I give her doesn’t reassure [Name] at all whose expression grows blank, her face screaming that she wants to run away.

(Though she knows she can’t outrun me, she has tried.)

The memory of it, accompanied with her horror, amuses me as I can’t hold back the chuckle that I have been trying to withhold, a fist pressing against my lip as I present my deal:

“If you can beat me I will give you both sweets, if you lose I will take both.”

My offer seems to ignite a fire within [Name] who straightens up with a sudden determination present in her eyes.

(That’s more like it.)

Halfway through the game I can feel her eyes glancing over at me, retreating whenever I stir or look up, as if trying to hide her gaze from me.

(Adorable, but I’m proud to know you recognise the field we’re playing on.)

Keeping my thoughts and my smile to myself I continue to place my pieces on the board, allowing [Name] to think of her counter carefully.

(Will you counter like the books suggest, or come up with something on your own? That will be the true test of today.)

But the opening of the door and the entry of lord Mitsuhide puts a halt into the game.

“Ah, Kyubei, there you are. I was looking for you.”

(I almost forgot, playing Go with [Name] is merely part of my duties.”

With that cold reminder I rise from my spot, slipping back into my duty as a vassal. The shadow of a shadow.

Hi dear!! ❤️ You’re very welcome! 😘Sorry, it took me so long to write this and in the meantime I was also translating chapter 29 and then I started online classes, I had something like 9473937 things to do but here it is.

OBVIOUSLY I played the game. And I loved it 😍 I played it a few months ago, but I can give you some advice, as far as I remember!

Some general information

- 5 coins per day when you enter the game

- every day you have 5 tickets to play 5 chapters of the story

- the story of the game follows more or less the manga story (I don’t remember how far), with a few more scenes

- there are new original scenarios (e.g. I got the final part of chapter 3 from Karino’s point of view!)

- be careful because chapters can only be viewed once

- the only scenarios you can keep and replay are the ones you win

- occasionally there are “events” ( idk what to call them) where you can win clothes, accessories, scenarios and voices (short dialogues by the voice actors of caste heaven) but you have to pay with the coins 🥺

How to play

Use the tickets to play the chapters and proceed through the story.

From time to time you will be asked to choose between 3 options to move forward. Your choice affects the path. There are 3 possible endings:

- Happy ending (HE)

- Bad ending (BE)

- Normal ending

Depending on your choices, the respective bar increases.

If in the end the points obtained in the HE and BE are the same, you get the normal ending (i hope what i say is right xD).

This is the home ( = your room):

1. Present box:

Here you get the daily coins, the prizes you win in the “events” (honestly I don’t know what to call them haha should be “gatcha” ?!?).

Here you can select: All (items) / coins / clothes / accessoriesin order to show only that category of items.

“145/145” indicates the space available in your room for the items.I filled all the space, therefore I need to buy more space to be able to store the items. Right now I can only get coins, while other items like the crepes are locked until space increases.

The circled button is used to store all items in one go.

2. Menu

There are 12 options:

1. Home page of the game

2. Your room

3. Ranking, according to the points of “charm” (I don’t know what it means).

Hope I’m not wrong but these are points you get as you buy accessories and clothes. The more you buy, the higher this score goes up.

The top places in the ranking receive more coins per day, however it’s practically impossible to get there because the japanese can buy coins (for real money) at a relatively low price. I tried but it didn’t work with my credit card :\

OMG sorry, this post will be extremely long, however regarding the story and the chapters I thought about translating them, I also started to make the screenshots, but then I realized I didn’t really have time for this…plus the story is the same as the manga and you can activate the google translator (I have Safari and there’s an app for translating the websites).

I only have one original scenario and it’s the final part of chapter 3 (one of best chapters 😍) from Karino’s point of view, if you want I can try to translate it :)

Uncharted 4: An Era’s End

It’s recently come to light that game developer Naughty Dog has been subjecting its employees to crunch; the practice of overworking and underpaying staff in order to meet deadlines. This is not unique to Naughty Dog, nor to their current project pending release later this year, The Last Of US 2. Reports suggest that crunch has been endemic in the working culture of Naughty Dog for some time and this is now no surprise to us as such reports continue to surface about studio after studio, most in the corporately structured, premium funded and managed space we call “triple A” or AAA, but many smaller studios and independent spaces also. Several senior and long-tenured creatives have left Naughty Dog quite recently, and some may have been leaving earlier than those that have been reported during what’s turning out to be a turbulent development cycle for The Last Of Us 2.

Each month, as part of the paid subscription to the Playstation Plus online service, Sony offers a small selection of games. For April, one of them was Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, from which I derived my title. Not only am I here to suggest the studio’s troubles may have begun during the development of this game, first released back in 2016, but the title may have been one of the first significant indications that the book was closing on AAA development as we know it. I appreciate there have been many good voices shouting from the rooftops about the how unsustainable it’s been from before then, but the Naughty Dog for a long time seemed like a light in the dark, signalling that a big studio could still produce good product under strong leadership.

I feel that Uncharted 4 rather than The Last Of Us 2 is the real light, and instead of a light-house, it turned out to be a signal-fire warning that even then the composure of Naughty Dog was an illusion.

This piece is going to contain significant spoilers for Uncharted 4. It’s also not investigative - I just played it for the first time, completed it and I have some thoughts about it; these are my thoughts.

I didn’t like the third game at all. I took nothing away from it. I’ll never play it again as there’s nothing I want to relive from it, so I’d better look up the wiki on what happened in it... well that didn’t help at all as I don’t remember playing any of that, it was so unmemorable. I remember the wandering around in the desert bit and then some shooting in the desert which was all pointless. There were also some puzzles with shadow puppets that were almost good but so short and pointless, those two things sum up my feelings about the third game entirely.

What a way to start.

I’ve replayed the first and second games once each, so I’ve played those each twice thru and have decided that the first game is overlong and poorly paced, and the second game is the best and probably two-thirds good. Honestly, Elena should drop the Drakes in the ocean, run-off with Chloe and keep in touch with Sully because those are the only three characters with any depth and meaning. Let’s roll-back a bit.

I get that Nathan’s supposed to be a charming, happy-go-lucky character and for the most part, it works. Maybe I’m just getting too old for it or it’s wearing too thin. I really think the third game was completely unnecessary. When I review my notes on the fourth game, I think about the emotional quandary it attempts to set up i.e., ultimately that Nathan should be more honest with Elena - spoiler; he isn’t, but don’t worry it all works out *SPIT* - this was already a problem I was ready to face at the end of the second game. Given my feelings on the third game, I’d have much preferred a simple trilogy and conclusion that faced that emotional brunt to wrap things up. Naturally of-course, that’s not how money-spinners work.

If Uncharted 4 doesn’t spend time on Elena, who does it spend time on? Nathan has a brother! To be fair, I love Troy Baker as a voice actor and if there’s one thing that is consistent in Naughty Dog games, it’s excellent voice acting. I don’t know if I’m now biased after seeing so much of Nolan North and Troy Baker on YouTube outside of their VO talent work, but they’re wonderful people and their professional work is always great. The supporting cast is always great, too - so too the villains even if the narrative arcs are always completely absurd. I know these are always a bit of a lark, you can’t take them too seriously so I can’t hold Uncharted up to Kentucky Route Zero (got my mention in) and shake them comparatively, that’s not fair. It’s OK to have an excuse for a romp even if it does wear on a bit over time.

The problems I have with Uncharted 4 specifically are things like the level and environmental design. I’ve never gotten lost in this franchise up until now when it happened in almost every level... several times. I simply didn’t know where to go. There would be absolutely no clear indication of where to go and no assists, no subtle environmental guide and no camera nudges to help. There is a timer that eventually tells the player where to go and at times, this is tied to deaths so at one point I just threw Nathan off cliffs repeatedly to respawn until the hint appeared. This is unquestionably stupid design. I began to wonder if this was due to criticism that previous games had too much hand-holding, but when the UI assist was finally given and I made my way to the next check-point, I would *never* have found it under normal exploratory gameplay.

This remained true during several moments of scripted action sequences, some including during combat which brings up something else I now remember about the third game. I still couldn’t tell you when it was other than I didn’t know where to go and it was stupid, so there you have it. Maybe the third game was the real signal fire in my metaphor, who knows. In any case, constantly reverting to check-points and having to repeat, not understanding why you’re failing when the game isn’t telegraphing what you need for a success state in a scripted sequence is an exercise in frustration I’m not willing to ever repeat. While I’m not a souls-like player, I completely appreciate the admiration and respect for those games because they have rules that are clear to parse. Video games are *all about* providing feedback to the player. I’m not saying it’s easy, it is an incredibly difficult thing to achieve but it is literally the job you set out to do, it is the only vehicle you have to convey the lofty emotions you want to communicate to your audience.

And then there’s the driving. Naughty Dog. Do not put driving in your games. This is something you’re not able to do.

I don’t want to bash the driving so hard because at this point I feel like it may have been bolted on without time to make it stick correctly. This is the first game in the title where the hot-zones for interactions weren’t quite right. Where I bugged out of animations and had check-points or re-spawns instanced or loaded. Where I glitched out and fell off things, where I had to walk back and forth in-front of things to make buttons appear. The edges of that Naughty Dog polish were fraying. I’d attempt to do a thing and it just wouldn’t work, I’d fall to my death. I’d attempt to do the same thing the same way and it would work. Again this is dredging up more nondescript memories of the third game so I’m beginning to have my suspicions about the working environment there and when in the timeline things started getting bad - but cameras and jumping distances got really difficult to judge. One gap at one time would be fine to jump, then another would have you plunge to your death, and they’d be inconsistent to read or judge. These were not frequent, as with the third game, almost as if the artists and level designers were given time to adjust lighting and camera geometry tracking and control mapping as much as possible but just couldn’t get to them all. But throughout the games, it creeps in more and more.

I’d talk about combat - it’s functional, but it’s not interesting. These games don’t add anything interesting to the genre or video games in general. I play the games on easy because I don’t need to prolong the experience, I don’t actually have the physical time - if I could play the games without combat, I would. There are other games to play if I want dexterity challenges which I do engage in, Uncharted isn’t one of them. Even in 2016 I’m not entirely sure this would have turned heads. I realise I’m playing this a full four years later, but it’s hard to think of the sum-total of this game’s parts and see it as relevant...

But you know what? Uncharted 4 visually looks immaculate. Outside of the voice-acting and sound design, without question, the highest priority has been given to the visual fidelity of this game inclusive of the animations. So much has been invested in how the tech works, to the abandonment of everything else, I’d say the for example, the driving suffered the most, level design next, then interaction scripting. The attention to detail in the environments is stupendous...

...yet it’s all hollow. You know what? I don’t care about pirates and adventures anymore. Whatever. By the fourth game, I don’t care. I totally get that the game’s not for me but I played it and I’m writing how I feel about it. You’re telling me a story about a guy who met the person of his dreams and marries, then his brother turns up and he can’t be honest to his wife? Meow meow meow it’s all for the sake of drama so we skip over all the details but the contrivance is too much. You want me to accept these things on face value, then on face value, I say Nathan and his brother can go get fucked.

I took particular issue with the comically brief relationship discussion Elena and Nathan have after she saves him and they set off together in which she concludes she’s with him “for better or for worse”, which from memory the game chapter is titled after. Now either the character genuinely believes she owes him under the sanctity of nuptial obligation or she’s using it as a justification of such. This is a wholly unsatisfying discussion for me was when I finally checked out of this game - sure I should have done so hours before but this was the last straw and the indication that I am definitely too old for this shit - but this is a horrifying and stupid message to be spouting. Elena don’t owe anyone shit. Married or not, she’s free to save Nathan if she wants to, for any reason, but she’s certainly not obliged to. I despise this massive chunk of traditionalist patriarchy smashed into her character and the narrative, even if it is “well it’s just about her character” yea great, so that just re-enforces her as a loyal dog-trophy for the main character in the on-going male power-fantasy shenanigans shit-train. Nathan’s behaviour isn’t exactly selfish but it’s certainly not adult or considerate. He behaves like a child not taking on an appropriate level of responsibility. Others around him, being Elena and Sully, continuously bail him out - literally saving his life while endangering their own, and he continues to behave like a manchild that neither acknowledges their physical and emotional labour nor does he grow and evolve as an individual. What a fucker. Does he ever sort his shit out, ask Elena what she wants to do for a career and support whatever the fuck she wants to do with her life? Of-course the fuck he doesn’t. Know why? Because he’s a literal man-baby. And his brother is too. But that’s OK cos he’s a fucken jock-hero and a funny guy so as long as we can all laugh about it and the narrative says-so and it all works out in the end and he gets the girl and she ends-up supporting his career anyway, it’s aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall fine.

Nathan should have died and Elena shouldn’t have given a fuck.

I know I know, it’s not that serious. Look I’ve been thru some shit, alright? I can see it both ways. Sometimes you don’t think about stupid shit that deep and sometimes you do. Most of the time, I do, and most of the time, I take it to the nth degree, so yea, shit like that gets to me. I call it bad writing, so no, I don’t like the story. At all. Nathan’s supposed to be flawed but nothing ever costs him. When people make mistakes in life, those mistakes cost. The unfortunately thing is the cost is most often paid by the others around them, and sometimes they themselves never realise it. I don’t like stories where there’s a fuckhead at the centre but everyone still stays happy. Nathan seems to have been given a lesson, but I don’t think he earned it. This is why y’all watch Game of Thrones and are surprised when characters die because you keep consuming narratives with no stakes, and GoT is *still* only middling stuff.

Anyway.

How could Elena’s character have been given more attention? Uncharted 4 isn’t all bad. The most valuable thing Naughty Dog achieved was the recreation of real domestic spaces; the Drake households. Twice, we’re given time and space and encouraged to explore them without being funnelled by level design, events, NPC shepherding or audio cues. Rooms and the objects that fill them are meticulously and beautifully created, and they're given life and purpose in a way that has meaning far beyond all the pirate nonsense that while almost as equally beautiful, is completely vacuous.

Putting on Elena’s vinyl record as her daughter Cassie was the only time I enjoyed the music in the game, and it was a great call-back to Nathan having done the same thing in their house much earlier. Sure, there’s the Drake theme that repeats ad nauseam throughout the series but otherwise the soundtrack is bland and unremarkable adventuring fare. It contributes more to the feeling of this game being out of touch, contrasted to something like Control which certainly has a completely different setting, sure - but that’s part of it, so that affords the creative team room for more modular synths and drones and to have a distinct sound.

Walking thru those houses, first as Nathan but really as the player repositioning themselves from adventurer to ordinary life-living person in a domestic setting, and then as Cassie - daughter of these two amazing characters in an equalling urbane setting yet filled with wonderful objects, made up the most fascinating and enjoyable moments of the game for me. The mess of each room gave the houses the perfect lived-in feel to a degree that most other games struggle to achieve, probably due to how much effort it takes to get that much geometry mapped in - Giant Sparrow’s What Became of Edith Finch is probably one of the few games that has come close. The difference between the tropical islands, decaying pirate mansions and the domestic Drake residences is that the houses felt like everything in there felt like it meant something and was in there for a reason, like it had been part of something. I don’t mean that just for the objects that were intrinsically tied to implicit narrative beats like collectables or even items from countries where Uncharted 4 or prior games are set, but also things like towels, washing baskets, plates and dishes, books and picture frames, shampoo bottles, food - the detail in the fridges! That you can feed Cassie’s dog, Vicky is the most meaningful interaction of the game - by the way, the second most meaningful set of interactions is buying an apple in the market in Madagascar then playing with lemur and letting it take the apple.

Back to the houses, I’m disappointed we never got to walk through one of them as Elena. Now that the core of the franchise is wrapped, I’m left with the impression that she’s the most important character in the series and she’s left woefully under-served. This is a very me thing, and unsurprising. I doubt anyone else cares enough about writing and character to have thoughts like this. They’re into Uncharted for the adventuring and the shooting, but as soon as you present me the opportunity for character drama and you want to have a red-hot go at it, I’m here to set aside the rest of that guff and go for it. The running and jumping and shooting never changes, and I’m here to say that the puzzling could have stepped up orders of magnitude that Naughty Dog never committed to - Crystal Dynamics did far better with Rise Of The Romb Raider, and while the puzzling was never really difficult, the way I described it to a friend was to liken the puzzles to desk toys; not intended to be too challenging, but more satisfying in their tactile nature. I feel Fireproof’s The Room series for iOS and Android are great examples of providing similar sensations.

I don’t mind a game mostly about shenanigans, I just don’t want it centred around a character that won’t learn, or who gets off cheaply. Elena is infinitely more interesting to me - her concerns, her desires - Chloe too, for that matter, and I absolutely am not above making the joke about shipping them as I’m sure thousands have before me (no I won’t write a fanfic about them, I’m sure there are plenty around).

I didn’t play the first The Last of Us. There was a horrifically jarring moment when the game felt it was over-playing its sense of cinema to me, then had a sudden camera zoom transition onto I think the first combat gameplay and I checked out. The tone of that game is trying to telegraph TAKE ME SERIOUSLY and I feel all I’m going to do is read tonally similar things to what I have here but far worse. Also post-apocalypse is easy pickings for bad writing, especially by video games narrative writers, I just don’t have the patience. I’m pleased that there’s lesbian representation in the second game but I’m not sure it’ll be handled with sensitivity. While I’m in no way invested in the game as a product, I continue to be concerned for the welfare of the employees at Naughty Dog, and all game developers everywhere, as always. It is a hugely unregulated industry that is in the process of slow collapse, and now more than ever do we need reform and cultural change.

And in the midst of that, one day we’ll get a decent game that’s about domestic partnerships and wonderful emotional relationships with stunning visual fidelity; maybe it’ll have running and jumping and shooting and maybe it won’t. Maybe it’ll end sadly and maybe it’ll end happily but hopefully it’ll be well-written.

According to Plagg, Ladybug was supposed to be Chat Noir’s partner, and maybe if his dad hadn’t found out he had the ring, it would’ve been that way.

His first outing declaring himself her enemy all those months ago didn’t go so bad. And for a while, he’d say things went pretty well. Sure, they might be fighting, but he couldn’t help driving Plagg insane, talking over and over about how incredible that girl really was despite playing a villain, but Ladybug was a real superhero. Sometimes, he wished he could’ve been a hero alongside her, but he chalked it up to the bad luck that ran his life.

It didn’t take that long either for his luck again to run everything straight into the ground.

Still, sitting on the balcony with this girl, quietly eating a croissant, it felt like this had been a long time coming.

“Lost in thought there, Kitten?”

He gave a start, shifting over as Marinette sat beside him wrapped in one of her fluffy blankets. When she gave him a smile, he found himself mustering up his own in return. His belt tail’s buckle lightly clicked against the ground.

Ladybug had originally brought him here just because Marinette wanted to thank him during some of the akuma attacks, but then, she’d invited him back. It confused him why she was being so hospitable to someone who was Paris’s enemy, but he found himself making subsequent returns despite the worries of waltzing into a trap. Chat Noir would blame his isolation though in the end, unable to remember the last time he’d talk to anyone cordially.

… Almost like a real friend.

He was eager to visit more and more. Sometimes, he got to sit in the blanket with her; some nights, they talked for hours; but a few nights, they also just sat in silence. She drew and he’d watch or risk taking a nap. However, there was always food for him whether it be leftovers from her family’s dinner or the bakery itself. She didn’t need to do this for him anymore, but it was nice feeling like someone cared.

Slowly, his head dropped onto her shoulder and he sighed, feeling his ears droop on his head.

Could it stay like this?

“Hey, Chat?”

“Mmm?”

He felt the warmth of her fingers seep through his suit, her hand resting on his own. Would it be weird to say she smelled nice?

“A little,” she giggled. His face burned – he hadn’t realized he’d said it out loud, but she took it in stride. “Anyway, could I ask you something?”

“… Sure? What would you like to know, Princess?”

Feeling her shift, he turned and wrapped his arms around her, whining ‘Noooooo’ to keep her from pulling away. That nickname always garnered a different reaction, but he wouldn’t fall over this time! He grinned while she rolled her eyes, flashing back a brief smirk.

“Silly cat… Why do you fight Ladybug again?”

The mood shifted from playful to somber and he hesitated to answer. He didn’t know if there’d be any harm in telling her, but he could imagine the reaction when his father found out.

If his father found out.

“… Someone important to me went missing.”

He bit his tongue lightly, still unsure to say more. Though he feared the repercussions, he felt tired from everything. Lying on her lap, his arms still loosely secured around her waist, didn’t make the feeling go away either, but it did make him feel safer. Curled fingers proceeded to comb through his hair, coaxing a wavering purr from his throat.

Akumatized victims were the only way to draw Ladybug out, his father explained, while they sat at the table for the first time in, well, ever. Since his mother’s disappearance barely a year ago, Gabriel had begun shutting himself away and barring Adrien from visiting. They had to be scheduled through Nathalie as to ‘not disturb him’, and keep them within the hours he was expected to be studying or with tutors. When Adrien finally managed to see his dad for the first time, he had asked if he could do anything to help – maybe relieve him of some company work – or anything to spend more time with him.

It worked, sort of.

He scheduled a second meeting when that first ended up changing nothing, asking to attend public school.

Unsurprisingly, his father denied that request in such a tone that Adrien didn’t consider asking again.

The desire and need for interactions with people grew. Chloé’s visits had become so few that they failed to staunch the loneliness growing in his heart. Trying to take matters into his own hands, Adrien set himself up to attend a local collège and snuck out between his History and Maths sessions, but helping an old man allowed the Gorilla and Nathalie to catch up.

One stern lecture from his father later, the first akuma appeared. Plagg appeared and his dad just happened to walk in.

The rest was history.

His dad revealed himself to be the one behind the akumatized victim, taking on the moniker of Hawkmoth with the Butterfly Miraculous’ powers. Together, if they could acquire the Ladybug Miraculous, they’d be able to wish for his mother to come home. Whatever happened to her would be a bad memory – they’d be a complete family again.

How could he pass up the opportunity? He wanted to see his mother again.

Without the need to hide Hawkmoth anymore, Adrien found himself at the dining table with his father trying to plot their next strategies to gain Ladybug’s Miraculous over dinner. It was great! They hadn’t had meals together in months, and Adrien ignored the niggling feeling that this was wrong.

He laid two simple rules for his dad for their move forward: 1. Adrien’s only target was Ladybug, and 2. unless the akumatized was capable of controlling others, he wanted no civilians harmed.

While rule one was never an issue, Stormy Weather and Evillustrator were two akuma early on that violated rule two. They were lucky that Ladybug’s power could fix any damages done, but the thought of anyone accidentally injured or – heaven forbid – killed made his stomach churn. It was already enough they terrorized the city for a pair of earrings. Mom would be disappointed with those actions and he could live with that, but she’d never forgive them for harming innocent people.

“Hey, Plagg?”

“What?”

Adrien grimaced at the kwami’s usual indifferent tone, used to it, but hating it on principle. Ever since awakening from the ring and the whole villainy route, Adrien knew how much Plagg hated everything and everyone. He could probably do more than growl at Adrien, too, but he never did so the boy often used him as an echo chamber. It made things feel less lonely.

“If I just asked Ladybug, do you think she’d give me the earrings? Just long enough to make the wish?”

Gleaming acid eyes and thinned pupils turned, locking with Adrien’s eyes, but Plagg said nothing for a minute. His mouth slowly curled into fanged sneer and he returned his focused on his Camembert cheese.

“No way. Ladybug’s not going to let you or anyone have her earrings. Doesn’t matter your reason and doesn’t matter how kindly you try to ask.”

“But why?”

The snort was typical – critical and harsh with his voice just above a hiss.

“You don’t need to know.”

“I’d like to know.”

“Too bad.”

Figuring one day he’d try asking Plagg again, Adrien kept on fighting Ladybug whenever his father made another akuma victim, enjoying each opportunity to be outside and then come home to have a meal with his dad. No matter what they tried, Ladybug’s Lucky Charm always helped her win the day. Adrien should’ve been annoyed like his father was, but he couldn’t help seeing her abilities as incredible – miraculous, even? Ah, if only he had someone he could tell that one to. But joking aside, she saved the day no matter how many people – akumatized or otherwise – faced her. And he’d probably be doing the same at her side if his father hadn’t caught Plagg.

Why did he find himself lingering on that fact? And saving people when he had to, it felt better than what he was doing now – or maybe that wrongness he felt before was growing stronger.

Could it be wrong to want his mother back?

He tried not to think about it anymore, but then he made a mistake.

Adrien wasn’t sure why his father thought Simon Says was a good idea. Considering who Simon’s target was and his powers, taking his side would increase the danger, but his father didn’t listen. Ladybug came to the mansion herself to help seconds before Simon and his army arrived, and though Adrien doubled back after pretending to escape, he watched from the rooftops - eyes bulging – as Simon Says’ army carried his father away.

Stick to the plan, he told himself repeatedly, but sticking to the plan was not possible when Simon ordered his dad to jump from the TVi Station’s roof.

Father had not been pleased by the turn in events. Adrien later stood in his bedroom, staring at photos of his mother while his mind replayed his dad shouting at him for his incompetence. Not only had it been his fault they didn’t get the earrings again, but Ladybug had stolen two things from the house: some old book and a pin? Adrien hadn’t known about either object before or why they were so important.

Ignoring stinging eyes, he continued looking at the smiling photos of his mom.

It would be fine. The two of them would just have dinner later and plan the next move like always. And if he kept his mind on their goal, he’d be able to withstand any more outbursts his father might have – it would be worth it in the end.

But his father didn’t show up to dinner that night, or the next.

Akumas continued to occur and Nathalie would inform Adrien to go out as Chat Noir.

One day, he saw his father in the hallway, but he walked into his office without saying a word.

The holidays came and passed with Adrien celebrating in the dining room alone, and in that moment, the mansion was back in the days before he possessed the ring. The only difference now was Plagg, but Adrien watched the kwami purposefully phase out the window, disappearing into the snowy night.

Adrien wanted to confront his father, but he never did. Instead, the day his home school lessons were to resume, he heard glass shattering on the opposite side of the grand foyer. Cautiously, Adrien risked venturing into Gabriel’s office and gasped. Broken frames and glass strewn about, but the windows intact, he was bewildered at the destruction. But that was nothing as he watched his akumatized father rise from the floor via a secret elevator.

He didn’t get the chance to yell before the book hit him.

He avoided his father out after The Collector, or tried to anyway.

Wasn’t it ironic then when his father began talking to him again and pretending like nothing had happened? Adrien knew his dad hadn’t forgotten it. He’d also become acutely aware of his laughter whenever it echoed out of the assumed Lair now. What was he supposed to do though? The Gorilla and Nathalie acted like this was par for the course, but he couldn’t do the same – not with the influx of akumatized people interrupting his schedule, resulting in cut times to his studies and modeling.

Don’t fall behind.

Don’t be late.

If he did everything, his father wouldn’t akumatize himself again. His father wouldn’t try to akumatize him either… maybe.

Was Plagg actually showing him some concern now?

No, he had to be imagining things. No one was worried about him in this house.

Mom would be worth it in the end though, right?

Adrien ignored his growing exhaustion and bouts of dizziness, and he tried to get the earrings. He tried so hard, but found himself that fateful evening being held down by Ladybug and her fingers grabbed his ring. Watching her, he wanted to scream, to beg, to do anything, but he couldn’t bring himself to speak.

If she took it, maybe this nightmare would be over.

Staring at the ring with its blazing green paw pad in the center, Ladybug had truly given him mercy by bringing him to the patisserie. How he’d missed so many meals and not realized it, he wasn’t entirely sure. He’d been stuck inside his head for so long doing his best to make everything perfect.

“Hawkmoth said I could wish for them back, but I need Ladybug’s earrings to do that. And I need them back…”

His felt his arms tense and his hold around her tightened.

“Everything’s wrong at home and I’m not sure how much longer I can say this is worth it. But if I give up, I don’t know what’ll happen. When Ladybug brought me here that first night, I wish she had taken my ring.”

“Chat…”

Burying his face into her side, found himself engulfed by darkness, Marinette having taken her blanket and wrapping it around them both. He imagined the headlines reading that the notorious villain Chat Noir was discovered crying on some bakery’s roof, but he doubted such thoughts had gone through her head.

Marinette was empathetic and kind – brave too when the time came for it. Her actions reminded him so much of his mother; she was keenly aware that he needed an affection that had begun to feel unobtainable in life. She allowed him to cry himself out and curl against her legs, and the exhaustions from the day made his eyelids feel heavy.

Protected and warm, Chat Noir – Adrien fell asleep, dreaming of a future where he’d feel happy and whole again, and with Marinette by his side.

THE ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Hey guys!

So I have just come out of last weekend's book fest, am writing this at like 4am waiting for my sleep aids to finally kick in because I really should be going to bed now, and I thought It'd be a good time to start a blog post.

This past week has been crazy and just picking up more and more as it goes on. I've been ordering books, selling to stores(more to come on that little detail soon), signing up for signings in other states, booking meetings, and getting together more places to perform my art live. It's a work out for sure but the more I do the clouser I feel like I am to where I wanna be in life, so it's all worth a little lack of sleep. Although I have been making a commitment to sticking to a decent regemin for taking care of myself. If you read my poetry, you know I struggle with this daily, but if I wanna be at my best on stage and at signings and in my work, than it's an important step. It's also something I wanna encourage. For people not to just accept the narrative of being unhealthy and tired, if you're unhealthy and tired, strive to change that. I have so many ideas for blog posts and videos about how I've been going about doing that which I hope you'll enjoy and take something from. This post though, I wanted to talk about something that I've been asked for a lot lately, advice.

Now I knew when I started this that there would be people who looked up to me and people who want to know I did it and want to know what they can do for their dream and just wanna know more about my journey, the thing about that was just I thought all that as a little kid and I thought it'd be something that came from record deals and being rich and screaming stadiums, never did I think my self-published books and my open mic performances would draw so many people asking me for guidance through their own journey or draw so much curiosity for how I got where I am today (which for a time I thought wasn't very far). I've even been mistaken as a professional in the craft, someone with years of signings and publishing under their belt. This got me thinking, what exactly makes a professional, and what do I have to offer?

So for the people who ask me about my experience, I've pretty much been at this my whole life. It's been a constant uphill battle for me with anxiety and doubt and obstacles of all sort pushing back, but since I was a little child dressed as Hannah Montana and using letter stencils to write songs I was sure this is when I wanted. Something I need. That meant going to every free class I could find. The library funded a lot of my passion and education, with improv and acting classes, guitar lessons, computer courses, open mics, and workshops. I lived in libraries. I would read books about design and flip through adventures, I'd sit in the stacks learning about podcasts, I took photography and leadership in freshman and sophomore year of high school (for the gods' awful times I was in online school *shudders*). I still go to those classes now, the maker's space is going to help me tremendously in the next coming year. I'm so excited about it all still. For a long time with all those classes, I was still the quiet one. Even with all these teachers believing in me, I couldn't beileve in my own voice. I didn't think I could speak, and around my peers I was still weird, so I was quiet. Until JYPS workshop, that is when I was put on a stage for the first time in my teenage career. Working with the group definitely drove me to who I am now, instead of just being taught poetry, I was taught business, I was taught to stand on corners and give out flyers, to promote myself, to be confident and build connections, and I still go now. I'll be there this weekend, learning just like everyone else will be. This is where I found my voice. So as you can see, I've got experience, but I'm still trying to learn more. I don't really think I'll ever not be a student.

Knowing that, I will now give my best advice. I'm going to break it down into FAQ's because I do get a lot of questions, and most are more or less the same things.

1. How Do yoU Find Events?

I find all of my events through my mum and word of mouth. My mother started releasing books about a year before I did and she finds a lot of the events this year since most are ones she researched years prior. Other events I find through the library system and old fashioned word of mouth, it is not uncommon for people to come to my performances or see me at a signing and invite me to another somewhere else. Networking is key. Always remember to talk to people at these things as you'll never know who you'll meet. Do not be afraid to ASK "Hey can I preform here? Hey what signings are there in town? Hey Siri search local book signings?" You'll find something surely.

2. How Do You Find Inspiration?

Everywhere. My life, other books and art, music, dancing, etc. I've been dancing and gotten entire scenes in my head randomly or laying back and listening to music then I'll start replaying the song as a whole outline shows itself to me. It's really a magickal thing, being an artist. It does take practice for some to get to that level of spacey but you can always start by writing about what you know. Many scenes or emotions or characters in my books can be connected to my life in some way or another, maybe an altered moment, maybe a name I heard, maybe a character that reminds me heavily of a friend. Start with writing what you know, I will occasionally write out my thoughts like a novel when I'm trying to sort things out or I'm in a funk, find your thing.

3. How Do You Get Over Stage Fright?

You just do it. Get on stage, it's really the only way I've found to deal with it. A lot of people don't know this but I do have grand stage fright, to the point of running off the stage when I was younger actually. It still bothers me and I'm in constant management with it. If you don't get on stage you'll surely never get over it. Start small. For me going up and performing in front of people who don't know me, acting as a character who was not me, would help tremendously. Occassionally I'll still channel some more confident and emotionally showing version of myself for my performances, it's whatever works as a small step for you. Some people feel more comfortable anon like me, but others may want to start by preforming in front of people they trust and slowly work their way to strangers. Don't push yourself too far to fast, and don't worry about if you start by running off the stage, you get over it.

4. How Do You Self-Publish?

There are several ways to self-publish your books, the way I chose to go through primarily was Amazon. I put my books on their website (not signing their exclusivity contract) and then I can sell it other places. So I've also been trying to add my books to Lulu, I have previews up on Tablo and Wattpad, and I'm selling them to a local bookstore. Amazon prints my books so I do pay them to order the copies but I do not pay the same price as a normal costumer, since they are mine I only pay the cost of shipping and printing. You can find loads of other self-publishing routes with some diligent research, look around and find what's right for you, don't be afraid to ask other authors who self-publish questions at book signings, many are willing to help others.

5. What are the benefits of self publishing?

Since I self-publish my book I get to tell the story my way, without some of the hurtles trade might give me. For instance, my books are quite dark and do contain not only strong language but descriptive violence. When JK Rowling was publishing Harry Potter, Ron actually swore quite a lot, but because the publisher felt the book series would appeal so well to children, they had her change that about the character so as not to poke any parents. Prisoner Nineteen could bring a very wide audience (though I in no way compare my work to Harry Potter) but seeing as the characters are mostly quite young (the main being only fourteen) I could see it drawing in a younger crowd than would be expected for a series like it, because I published it myself, I don't have to worry about that. I market it as YA, and really leave it up to the reader (and their parents) what they feel comfortable reading. This for me is the biggest plus of self-publishing, you get no deadlines and complete creative freedom.

6. How Do You Write A Book?

I can't exactly tell you that. Everyone has a different way of writing their book, I've seen a million different writing styles and writing processes, it's really up to you how you write your book. As for finshing it, what helped me was having a clear goal and deadline in mind.

7. How Do You Balance Everything?

Chaotically. I'm definitely not going to lie and say this is all super easy. Meetings, school, art projects, volunteering, blogs, writing, signings, performances, and whatever else I have to do that week balanced on having a social life and not going crazy? It's not exactly easy. And occasionally you will probably freak out and/or cry from stress and anxiety, that does happen to me sometimes, but if it's what you want to be doing and I mean really want to be doing? Oddly enough, it doesn't feel like work a lot of the times. It feels great to be able to be doing something you actually love and want to be doing. If going a little bit crazy is a part of the process, eh, just makes for better writing and more theatrics. Did the sane man really ever make great art or great changes?

8. How Do You Get Your Stuff?

So usually this is directed towards my merch. Everything you see on my tables is customised and designed by yours truly (save for things like my lights or shell). I get an idea, I plan it out, and I then search all over the internet to find my supplies. (Honey really helps with this. Save money, create smarter.) Look on Pinterest or Tumblr or at other cons to try and think of something that fits your book.

9. How Do You Find The Courage?

Caffeine. Straight to the vein. I just get an iv drip before every apperence.

No but, really it's a lot of channeling your nerves into your work. Of deciding if this is really really really something you wanna be doing. If the answer to that is yes? You'll find your courage and strength. A support system doesn't hurt. If that can't be friends or parents, then you can find it in groups. Look around your local art scene. I'm sure somewhere there's a workshop or two, check on NaNaWrimo they do video chats, join a group on social media, find a pen pal, but nothing can really replace knowing people are rooting for you and knowing that you're working towards your dream goals.

10. How old are you?

I am eighteen years old and my birthday is June 24th, so. You're certainly not too young to do something and make decisions with your life. There is no "starting age" that's when you decide it is.

And to close, the thing that makes you a professional. I really didn't know, but a friend of mine posted online a few days ago "You are a rapper if you are rapping." This I think is true in all things. Especially in art, there is no point when you should ever stop learning, but you are what you are. If you sing, and you're serious about it, you are a singer. If you dance, and you're serious about it, you are a dancer. If you act, and you're serious about it, you are a dancer. If you write, and you're serious about it, you are a writer.

The Oldest Game: Chapter 2

Summary: On his way home from work, Gold runs into a lady of the night called Lacey. He finds himself drawn to her, and soon realises that he can’t stop thinking about the young woman on the street corner, and the web of secrets she has spun.

Chapter Two: Obsession

Almost a week had passed since Lacey had stormed out of Gold’s house, yet barely an hour went by without her crossing his mind. He went over the encounter, over and over in his head, to the point that he was certain the memory must have changed a thousand times by now. But despite the lengths he went to to distract himself, his thoughts always wandered back to her. Particularly that small smile that escaped her lips for a fraction of a second when he gave her his jacket to warm her up, and the way that her eyes lit up when she saw the artefacts in his lounge. Despite the tough exterior that she put on, the little glimpse that Gold caught of the girl underneath felt like a drug that he needed more of.

Although he previously enjoyed his walks home, he now took his car to and from work every day. This way, he could remain hidden should he happen to run into her again. Every night on his journey home, he drove the same route, passing the same corner of the street with the hope that he’d catch a glimpse of her. Sometimes, he’d even drive a full circle so that he would have to pass it again, but she was never there. He’d never seen her before in this small town, and apparently, he would never see her again.

What business did he even have, looking around the streets for her? What would he do if he found her? He wasn’t entirely sure. He could feel her face slipping away from his mind and he needed another fix, an assurance that she wasn’t a dream. And, he supposed, that was his only answer. It seemed he only had one more option to understand more about Lacey, and that was to ask residents around town about her. Although he quickly noted that he couldn’t just ask around if anybody had seen the local prostitute without people getting the wrong impression. Even worse, he didn’t want to get her in trouble with the sheriff or potential horny clients.

So, one morning, Gold popped into Granny’s, deciding that there must be somebody in there who was worth asking about her. When he entered the building, felt a sense of pride at how quiet the atmosphere suddenly became. He took a quick glace over the customers, checking that Lacey wasn’t amongst them, but once again he was disappointed. Instead, the diner was full of people who suddenly seemed very interested in their food.

He made his way over to the counter and the volume of the diner seemed to pick back up again. Ruby turned to him, ready to take his order.

“A black coffee to go,” he said. “And… well, I was just wondering if you’d seen a young woman around. Left something behind in my shop the other day. She’s got long brown hair and her name is Lacey. Probably around your age.”

“Doesn’t sound familiar, but maybe you should try the Rabbit Hole. People around my age spend more time around there than they do around this dingy place.” She rolled her eyes, seeming exasperated, but Gold wasn’t interested. He paid for his coffee and left, heading over to open the shop.

Before he began his tasks for the day, he sat down with his coffee and flicked through the newspaper, taking an interest in the stock shares. A particular article caught his eye – KILLER CONVICTED FOR MURDER OF PROSTITUTE FOUND IN PORTLAND. He read on, reading of how the murder had taken place several months previously, and they had finally found the suspect, who was one of the woman’s clients, guilty. Underneath the article was a section with several helpline numbers and statistics on prostitution.

Gold felt his stomach lurch upon reading the facts, each worse than the last. They detailed the physical and sexual assault that somehow seemed commonplace amongst sex workers, with some being even as young as nine. Twenty times more likely to be a victim of murder. Christ. The more he read, the tenser he felt, thinking of the blatant sexism and assault that these women - even young girls - must have to put up with on a daily basis. Most of all though, he felt anger on behalf of Lacey for the shit hand that life had dealt her to have thrown her into a life of sex work in the first place. God, he needed to see her again.

The rest of the day dragged by, and Gold found himself unable to concentrate on anything. He filled most of his time searching through old books in his shop, attempting to research further into prostitution and escort services. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find anything and he settled for replaying scenarios in his head of what he’d do if he saw her again. He would probably follow Ruby’s suggestion and drive by the Rabbit Hole tonight in hope that he’d finally see her there. Was this stalking? Gold suddenly froze at the rational voice in his head. If she knew the lengths to which he’d gone to try and see her again, she would surely think him a creep. But then, he wasn’t doing it out of his own pleasure, it was more so out of concern for her… right?

Gold shook his head of the thought. He was never one for morals anyway.

Eventually, Gold found himself back in his car, the day thankfully behind him. He had decided on going the long way home, which would allow him to pass the Rabbit Hole purely out of sheer coincidence. He drove slowly, butterflies in his stomach although he couldn’t explain why, particularly because if the rest of the week was anything to go by then he wouldn’t see her anyway.

He saw the bar and pulled over to get a better look – although from any angle this place was looking as grimey as ever. A broken window was boarded up, and a puddle of sick lay just a few metres from the entrance. A quick survey of the scene told him that Lacey was nowhere to be seen. He tried to replace his disappointment with disdain for the building instead, but the sinking feeling in his stomach told him he wasn’t doing a good job of it. He put the car back into gear when he suddenly saw Lacey walking out the entrance with a young, dark-haired man.

A bolt of jealousy ran through his bones at the fact that this man would be taking her home. Not that she would enjoy it, mind. He felt his heart sink, although for her or himself he couldn’t be sure. He was about to drive home, but then he saw something that made him slam his foot on the brakes. Lacey was trying to snatch her arm away from this man, who was pushing her towards the wall.

“I’m with friends tonight,” she said, pleadingly.

“But I know you love it… come on, just ten minutes? We don’t even need to go to mine, we could just go in an alleyway,” he attempted to compromise, still trying to catch her flying limbs as she tried to escape his grasp.

“Seriously, will you just. Fuck. Off.” Lacey emphasised this point by stamping on his foot with her heel. He let out a pathetic squeal, but quickly regained control of the situation by grabbing her by the throat and slapping her across the face.

Gold got out of his car so fast that he forgot to take the keys out. He stormed over to the pair of them, and the moment Lacey saw him, a wave of relief crossed her face that she wouldn’t have to handle this alone.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” yelled Gold. The man stepped back immediately and put his hands behind his back, looking like a child who had just been caught drawing on the walls.

“Mr. Gold, we, er… we were just making out,” he said, lamely. Gold looked at him as if he had just taken a shit on his shoe.

“She said no,” said Gold, teeth barred and venom emphasised on every word.

“Well, she didn’t actually say ‘no’,” he replied, with a know-it-all tone to his voice. “And you know what women are like. With a little persuasion, they change their minds anyway.”

Thump.

Suddenly, the man was on the floor, clutching the side of his head which had just been met with the end of Gold’s cane. He tried to crawl away quickly, as if expecting to be hit again. He clumsily got to his feet and held his hands up in a surrender.

“I’ll go,” he said, backing away. Gold watched him every step of the way, fantasising in his head about the things he could do to make this guy’s life a misery. Eventually he was out of sight, and Gold turned back to Lacey, realising that she was already looking at him.

“For such a small guy, you really know how to intimidate people, don’t you?” she asked. Was that a flicker of admiration he detected?

“It’s all in the name, dearie. He knows who I am,” he replied. He was trying to come off as smoothly as he could, but the confidence that came from saving her had worn off the second that bastard had ran away and it was just the two of them. Now, he was once again the small man with a limp. “What happened there?”

“He was… just a previous client,” she said shortly, but Gold knew from her tone not to press on the matter. There was a short pause. “I wasn’t on duty tonight but he wouldn’t take no for an answer.”

“Look, I, uh… well, I just wanted to say, I’m sorry about how the other night turned out,” said Gold. “I shouldn’t have pushed you. I felt like I was taking advantage, and maybe got a bit impulsive.”

“No, you shouldn’t have to apologise. I shouldn’t have reacted that way. I guess that I just… I don’t know,” she cut herself off, but Gold looked at her expectantly, knowing that silence was often the greatest prompt. “I’m not used to clients being as… respectful, as you. And it made me feel a bit silly. It’s easier to be used and thrown aside and forgotten about, because that way you don’t have to stop and think about it. But you made me feel like I was trying to force you to treat me like that, and it hit home a bit.” She looked slightly embarrassed. “I’m a bit tipsy,” she admitted apologetically.

They fell into silence again. Even after all the time he’d spent imagining this scenario, Gold didn’t have a clue what to say.

“Well, I suppose I’ll let you get back to your friends then.”

“I wasn’t actually here with anyone,” she admitted, her cheeks turning slightly pink. “I just got sick of the same four walls so I came out, just as a distraction really. And look where that got me.” She laughed humourlessly, and Gold wanted nothing more than to embrace her or rub her arm reassuringly, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.

“I’m concerned that you’re on your own in the dark. Let me drive you home?”

“Fucking men,” she muttered. “Either they want your body or they treat you like a child.” There wasn’t any anger in her words, however, more of a dull resignation. Gold frowned.

“Please. I’m just worried about you. That’s hardly unreasonable, considering the position in which I just found you.”

Lacey sighed.

“Fine. You can drive me home. But I am off duty tonight, so no repeats like last time,” she said, wagging a finger at him teasingly. He smiled, becoming more besotted by the minute, and walked her back to his car.

3 – Detailed guide about how to get all of the endings – this part will contain spoilers as the choices you need to make as well as some explanations can tell a lot about what’s happening.

Of course, I suggest you play the game without any guide as I did, but I understand it takes a lot of time and dedication.

Also, keep in mind this isn’t an achievement or CG guide. I’m currently missing two item CGs, but I got everything else.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND HINTS

SoulSet has a LOT of endings, and sometimes you’ll need to see the bad endings in order to access the good ones. Why? Well, the game has a unique system of “clues”. You’ll need to see some scenes in a route and then get a bad ending for that route in order to unlock the clue.

Some characters’ good endings are accessed without and in one case the clue isn’t needed for the character’s true/normal ending but in order to access their alternative endings.

Finally, the clues have colors – characters’ names on top of the text box have colors too… Yeah, the colors match – you can easily know who needs clues by checking the colors. Though keep in mind you can only get one clue of the same color in one route. It also means you need to look for clues in all of the routes, for some characters.

SPOILER-FREE CHARACTER HINTS

Want to get the good endings (either true or normal) but don’t want to be spoiled? I’ll do my best to help here.

Keep in mind the fact that you won’t find tips for the secret routes – you should manage well enough with the character tips. But don’t forget, you also need to get the clues for some endings!

- Yvonne: be nice and sincere, remain interested in her tastes. Her route is very easy!

- Apris: you need to be honest and ready to help him whatever may happen.

- Shira: follow her lead and don’t hide anything.

- Shirr: don’t trust anyone easily - and I mean it, ANYONE.

- Marco: don’t treat him like a kid, and show him you’re not some naïve girl.

- Feathor: show compassion and kindness in front of and towards him.

CHARACTER ROUTES

And finally, the main section of this guide - detailed character routes and how to reach each ending.

I’ll go by route instead of going by character – believe me, it’s easier that way. If a route has true, normal and bad endings, I’ll always tell you how to reach the bad ones first, since you’ll need that in order to get a couple of good endings.

Usually, true and normal endings are very similar – the difference is that true endings are romance related, and normal are friendship related. If you don’t care about completion, it’s up to you if you’d rather be friends or lovers, as true or normal endings won’t grant you clues anyway.

In some cases I found it very hard to unlock a clue because I couldn’t pinpoint the scene needed for it. In cases like that, I’ll write a quick summary of the choices I did in order to unlock it, but it means you’ll have to replay a bad ending. I’ll do my best to improve the guide later and make it even easier, but in the meantime, the skip feature is your friend!

On a side note, I don’t think the choices made before the card part are really important, but I wouldn’t risk it, so I usually go after the character I want to pursue (and besides, it’s interesting so you can know them better). In the same way, when you choose a romantic path for a character, I don’t think the choices made during love related scenes matter, so feel free to do as you want. It also seems you can pick any name for Shirr and it doesn’t matter, but you’ll have some dialogue changes if you actually type “Shirr”. Feel free to try both ways – I won’t mention the choice in my guide anyway.

He’s the orange character. You don’t need the orange clue from Shira’s route for his good endings, but you DO need it in order to access his alternative route.

Shirr is the silver character, so it’s safe to assume you need to find the silver clues in order to access her good endings. One of the clues is on Shira’s route, and the other one is here. Because of that, you NEED to do a bad end first. Shirr’s route is very hard though, so I got the bad ones first anyway.

*This should get you the green clue, as the important dialogue seems to be the one you get after you say it would be irresponsible. For the red clue, I’m honestly not sure how to get it – it took me a long time and lots of tries. If you want to be on the safe side, here are the choices I made after teaming up with him: “you seemed like the most trustworthy” – “I’m feeling a little groggy” – “I’ll let you surprise me” – “sleep-over party” – “coffee” – “that’s enough” – “the locked door” – “how can I say ‘no’” – “I wouldn’t mind going in a second time” – anything with the girls – “fourteen” – “you’re really close” – “would you mind if I kissed you?” – “keep your hands” – whatever after that.

--Feathor’s Route--

This route is accessed from Yvonne’s Bad End A, once you got 5 green clues. It doesn’t have a true ending, though.

[Load the first save in Yvonne’s route – the one at the branching point between bad and good endings. If you didn’t keep it, go back to the point she asks you if you want to stay by Feathor’s side]

--The Secret Route--

This is basically Marco’s true end route, but not only. It has several good endings for you to get and is accessed from the card scene, after you got all of the red clues.

Basically, it unlocks a new choice after you pick your card, so you’ll have to go back to this point after making the choices you want up to this point. Once you draw your card, Mariko will be sure she already knows the card she got, and you’re given the option to check anyway or to believe in the heart of the cards. You need to pick the former for this route, while the other one leads you to the regular routes.
