Theory of Cultural Change
Social systems result from resources exploitation. This means that cultural changes are as a result of complex and continuing processes but not isolable events.
People must learn to adapt to their environments

Nigeria’s Archaeological Heritage: Resource Exploitation and Technology

Sci-Fi Story I'm Not Gonna Write
I thought of a great sci-fi story that's probably already been done, in which case, good for that guy, but this is my blog. So, the earth gets invaded by a species with hyper-advanced technology and then it is revealed that they are not mere aliens, but time traveling aliens from a million years in the future, where all the universe has been mined and exploited and nothing remains but to use their advanced technology to travel back in time to a period when raw material still existed to be exploited. But then you get a second shocking reveal: these aliens aren't merely time traveling aliens, but they're the daughter species that humans evolved into over the eons and they targeted earth first, because the need for foolish and symbolic gestures persisted; or maybe there is some lingering home-sickness in their genes? Who knows! And then they get the War of the Worlds treatment when a virus mutates and kills them all. Except this time it at least kind of makes sense, since they didn't evolve on Mars or wherever, but have actual roots on earth, where species that exist on earth today would have some evolutionary history with their progenitors. It also kind of gives them the Independence Day treatment, i.e. the introduction of a virus, but more plausible because, well, you've probably seen Independence Day.

Morales comments on the“Occupy Davao vs. DSWD” controversy; on the government’s inefficient response to the needs of the survivors of typhoon Pablo; on climate change and resource extraction (esp. logging and large-scale mining), as linked to broader political issues – i.e., neoliberal policies which have facilitated the systematic exploitation of the country’s resources at the expense of genuine human development and national sovereignty – and the need for collective action in the face of threats posed to People and Planet by the dictates of Profit.
Morales is the Executive Director of Balsa Mindanao. Recorded at the “Church People’s Forum: On the Impact of Typhoon Pablo and the call for sustained relief and rehabilitation support to families and communities”, National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) Compound, QC. February 27, 2013.

Israeli diamond dealing and mining tycoon billionaire Dan Gertler is largely responsible for the child slavery in Congo. He has been sanctioned since 2017 for serious human rights abuses and corruption that was enabled by his close friendship with disgraced former DRC president Joseph Kabila. Gertler has received support from the former director of Mossad, i$r@3l’s foreign-intelligence agency, who went to Congo three different in 2019 on his behalf. But now genocide Joe is considering dropping these sanctions so Gertler can continue to profit alongside South African apartheid king Elon Musk in a new deal for batteries for electric vehicles.

while apple is the biggest and most well known company name that can be named when discussing this topic, it's important to understand that cobalt can be found in most cell phones, laptops and electric vehicles. not only that but also in cosmetics and make-up, hair dyeing, and tattoos, in clothes coloured in blue (or in some greens), in antiperspirants, in dental or orthopaedic prostheses, in detergents, washing powders and more. it's a BIG problem. this is a HUGE issue. breaks my fucking heart!!

Congo is silently going through a silent genocide. Millions of people are being killed so that the western world can benefit from its natural resources. More than 60% of the world’s cobalt reserves are found in Congo, used in the production of smartphones. Western countries are providing financial military aid to invade regions filled with reserves and in the process millions are getting killed and millions homeless. Multinationals mining companies are enslaving people especially children to mine. #congoisbleeding

THOUSANDS FLEE M23 RESURGENCE IN GOMA East DRC is witnessing a mass exodus, amid fears the M23 rebels will capture the region’s biggest city, Goma. In the last few days, thousands have abandoned their homes and fled, while rockets have been raining down on the city’s outskirts. The Congolese army appears to be on the back foot but the government has vowed it will hold the city. M23 - allegedly armed by Rwanda (something Kigali strongly denies) - has been making gains recently in the country’s mineral-rich provinces of North and South Kivu. The conflict, decades old, has seen over a million Congolese leave the country, and over 7 million internally displaced - in the grip of a humanitarian disaster. It’s feared the intensifying conflict could draw in neighbouring countries in the Great Lakes region if the violence is not decisively quelled fast.
