How to support writers

Buy their books. If you can't afford a print copy, but the e-copy. If you can't afford a book you want, request it through your local library; they're paying for the book so you don't have to. If you want a copy to keep, get it through a used book store. Don't download it "for free." When you buy a book, you're paying for the writer's skill, imagination, effort, hundreds of hours of their lives. You're supporting a publisher, paying for design, typesetting, printing, art, editing proofreading & paper. These are things of value. Don't download books "for free." That means fewer books are sold, which means the publisher may not buy the author's next book so you can enjoy it. When you download a book "for free," you're saying a writer's work has no worth. You're saying you're more important than they are. And though their work adds joy to your life, *their* life, effort, heart isn't worth anything to you. Now for the hard talk: Downloading books "for free" from the internet is stealing, plain and simple. It's the electronic version of shoplifting. It's disrespectful, it's dismissive of the artists you love and, oh yeah, it's illegal. Support writers. Buy books. Be one of the good guys. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

My OC... I've named her Irene Vesper Nyx. I'm mesmerised by various galaxy patterns. I love them! And I wanted to incorporate them in my art. I've used digital media and traditional, free to use brushes, free to use transparent pngs and psds, in gimp 2.8, free gimp extention plug-ins, neon glow brushes, colored pencils, watercolor, sketch markers and gel pens. ~NYAN~

Authors do it to put in your hands with love and trust, the tools that they did not have, and that it took them so much effort to get.

There are many legends amongst us… but few masters. @roncarterbassist is certainly the latter. Even legends themselves like @russell.malone & @donaldvegamusic watch the master at work from inches away in awe. • One of the last rooms I was in before the world shut down was @birdlandjazz . Owning & running a small coffee shop was hard enough… what @giannibirdland was able to pull off and reopen is commendable to say the least. One of the best rooms in the City, #Birdland is back and better than ever. #Mr. Carter has three nights left at his residency. I’d run to check this show out. These really only need one word #KISS! • Kiss, has influenced countless bands and caused children to dream (me included). At 70, and embarking a monumental tour that well culminate on their 50th Anniversary is no small undertaking. • The men that made up KISS #PaulStanley, #GeneSimmons, #PeterCriss and #AceFrehley created the biggest band in the world! Now with #TommyThayer and #EricSinger stepping in for years now, will give fans that had not been able to see them. • The @aetv @aenetworks #documentary that premiered at the @tribecafilmfestival in @tribeca was an unvarnished look at the history of the band (#Kisstory) and quite the reveal. The term LEGEND gets thrown around quite easily these days. But here, very few are as deserving as #HerlinRiley of that moniker. And the astonishing musicians he chose for @jazzdotorg opening week at Dizzy’s @heyemmet @russellhall_ @giveton @godwinloue are future holders of that word. When @briannewmanny has a party, he throws a party! What’s phenomenal about these musicians, is they just completed two sold out nights at @radiocitymusichall with @ladygaga and @itstonybennett, but still came to jam for the community at @fineandrarenyc till the wee hours of the morning. And the stars rolled through to help with the jam. Astonishing musicians like @joesaylor @darius_christian @dominickmusic @saxophonesteve @byrddryms @danielfoose and @theacademy winner @jonbatiste came to play like it was no big deal. The @foofighters LIVE at @thegarden! - Chris, Nate, Pat, and Taylor have been holding down the backbone of what #DaveGrohl conceived for over two decades. The last to be brought on was Chris, I was there for the previous guitar players last show at Giant Stadium opening for the Stones and I was there for Chris’s second show and documented it. Shy young player, we were around the same age, but I had already been shooting since I was a kid, and I could see the amazement in Chris’s eyes, like, “holy shit, I’m playing with Dave Grohl in front of thousands of people!” He nailed it and has grown into a MONSTROUS player. I met Taylor working with Alanis and was in awe of his playing. Could do it all. I met Pat in the #Nirvana days and his #Germs reputation proceeded him. A dirty growl and tone that has yet to be mimicked. Enough cannot be said about this jolly ol’ #Chef of a #Tuscan man from #LaTavernaSanGiuseppe in #Siena #Italy. People from far and wide need to come and experience what this phenomenal place is offering from the Tuscan countryside. There are all these places with reputations here and reputations there. But at the end of the day, as in any art form, it’s the passion you do it with.
