I'm rewatching Steven Universe and I will never forgive Fandom for what it did to her
#also watching it at age 19-20 as it was released and experiencing the resulting clusterfuck online fandom response was a wild trip#im finally rewatching it again at 25 and really really feel lucky to have seen it at the age i did#i have completely different perspective on it now that i have 3 young nephews and a neice where before i was in college#the music is still as incredible as it was back then#and the animation#i cant beleive people got honestly and truly upset and violently aggressive about characters being off model sometimes#early stevens voice though kills me after awhile...... the yelling .... but his characters growth and development also being reflected in#his voice changing as he grows up#they also go crazy hard on some scenes#who am i kidding the show was a masterpiece and ahead of its time

THIS FREAKING SCENE!!!!!!!!!!
Like you have Buck who again is very much characterized as a womanizer at this point in time looking at a gay couple and seeing them and their love story and referring to that as love like… Buck has and will always be a bisexual character and anyone that says otherwise clearly isn’t paying attention to all the small details the show literally demonstrates on screen from the very beginning
Like one of the main arguments from people against Buck’s storyline in season 7 with him coming out as bisexual and people against the storyline saying that “this came out of nowhere” like how do you view this scene clearly from all the way in season 2 of Buck getting emotional on a call over a gay couple that passes away together and calls it love and not get any indication at all that it was very heavily queer coded scene for Buck because he clearly says “That’s love” and we see him specifically in this scene sitting with Thomas while the team is handling the situation at hand with Mitchell and then when it comes to finally handling now Thomas passing away a few moments later, we see Buck get the scrapbook of the photos of memories they had together and it all just adds to the wording and the volume and the emotion of Buck going on to say “That’s love” like c’mon what aren’t you seeing here it’s so loud it’s insane

do love how this is an asoiaf blog but i did not put either show in my top 10 this is the world we live in
#the only season that really compares to the book is season 1.#the rest even when they’re engaging have changed something that feels so central to the hook that i’m mad aksjd.#getting on my soap box#if iwtv s3 is good it may knock someone out. probably qaf.#bsg is p high up there i just think season 4 really suffered on pacing & the suspicious nature of who dies annoyed me.#veep is also very high up there tbh i need to rewatch it. the thing is. as we know. i am a romantic at heart and amy & jonah have my favorit#sitcom relationship. veep has genuinely one of the best finales to ever exist but i’m a sap.#and amy coming back to tell jonah that he made her realize she doesn’t actually have to expect the worst from life. oh my god.#also superstore >>> parks & rec >>> the office bc superstore never romanticized the hell of their job#amy quitting her corporate job when she realized she would never be able to make the changes she wanted within the system she was always#going to compromise too much and wind up like jeff. glenn reopening his dad’s hardware shop & specifically who goes w him & who stays w gina#at the store? it has what the other two lack which is characters that feel like they keep existing after you stop watching#BECAUSE the way they interacted with the world was so real and so much more realistic. amy can’t fix the system but she can find a job that#she doesn’t feel is so soul sucking. glenn may be choosing a harder path by reopening the hardware store but it’s the one that makes him#most fulfilled. gina just gets to make money and be bossy w people who do what they’re told. that rings so true to me.#i almost out bojack horseman in here too actually but once again i think the last season just needed to be a tad longer just like bsg.#also same issue w pitch as w bly manor - it’s an amazingly written season of tv but it’s ONE season of tv#big brother as always outsells yes i am hoping to tempt some of u into watching by posting dan & ian in the dog costume#i have that gif and the ‘sit’ scene saved on my phone always

#A great episode tbh especially given the low budget. I feel like they really did their very best#And even though what I'm going to say next is probably going to be all critic - because I nitpick things and that's what I always end up–#talking about - I still want to underline that it was a very solid and enjoyable episode!!!#Alright the ss/kk was so 💞💞💞 every scene I had to rewatch twice or thrice akhscbashfb they're so cute!!!#Except for the riding scene tho. That scene gives me massive second hand embarrassment every time I just wish it will end as fast as–#possible pffttt. Mmmmhhh... The drawings weren't even too bad all accounted. My main complain is about the quicksand scene...#I feel like that one should be a slow quiet emotional scene. I never licked the choice of using the song as background soundtrack :/#I feel like it ruins the mood of the scene (it was still good though)#I also... Generally don't like the direction they seem to go for with Akutagawa's character in the anime‚ he seems quite a bit flatter–#compared to how he is in the manga. He can't be angry and evil ALL the time you need to show that softness get through from time to time.#If not what even is the point of his character. Yet in the anime he's angry (and not distraught) when he loses the mine craft and he's–#angry when he's questioning Atsushi about his motifs and he's angry when he's bragging about Atsushi's abilities to Goncharov and he's–#angry when he makes the promise with Atsushi at the end of the episode and eventually he'll be just as angry even when telling Atsushi–#to run away as he's sacrificing his life for him. It is pretty flat at the end of the day.#If I can say something about K/ensho Ono without being killed I think they do contribute to making him feel angry all the time.#But that said it's all probably poor directing choices (or simply choices I don't agree with).#Also‚ about cuts. Usually I try to be lenient about it– I understand it's hard to fit in everything and b/sd already does a very–#good job by adapting the manga almost panel-by panel. It's just that... You skip Akutagawa showing compassion for Atsushi after the–#orphanage director died. You skip Atsushi sharing the same compassion when Akutagawa loses his targed in the mines chase. You skip the–#“Nothing special about that. // I suppose he's far crueler than my own mentor.” line. And sure each of them may be negligible by their own#But together they wave a consistent web of relationship between the two characters you know? And it's a loss to omit them all#Well no mind. Again it was still a great episode overall!!!!#I think the colors in the mines could have been prettier in the mines but we can't have it all#Off to season 4!!! Omg I can't believe we got this far :DDD#random rambles#FINALLY was able to catch up in time for the season 3 finale!!!!!!

every time I rewatch the Rusty Anchor bathroom scene, it becomes gayer and gayer
#the amount of weight and emotion blanche puts behind every single one of her words#that scene (and actually the entire episode) carries the weight of a genuine love confession#i'm serious. the way blanche gets a little upset with dorothy for ''taking her place'' first#the way dorothy almost walks away but blanche can't let her leave. so she stops her with a very very intimate confession (''i'm jealous'')#the way jealous seems to mean ''i love you'' the way she says it#like i'm sorry but i don't think too many people tear up while telling their friend they're jealous of them#especially not after telling your friend how beautiful she is and how she lights up a room when she sings#hello there??#and that final question blanche asks dorothy#if she's jealous of *her* sometimes too#i have THOUGHTS about it#(yes i just rewatched that scene for the umpteenth time for research purposes. what of it)#the golden girls#blanche devereaux#dorothy zbornak#blanche x dorothy#...my whole post is in the tags again isn't it

#twabbbiih's edit#tdj#the devil judge#tw blood#kang yohan#kang yo han#a character study via legendary emo classic Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge#I put so much effort into this I really hope the fandom enjoys it#I know I don't exactly go here in a big way but guys please#girl does a tdj rewatch for the fun of it and spirals so far into making bad edits she has to try and figure out how to just get the text#from an album cover to make a mock one like some unhinged loser who barely knows how editing software works#you guys have NO IDEA#I spent an entire night pestering mid-n0vember about how this album is perfect for KYH 2 years ago and so finally I did something about it#to the end has especially been rattling around my brain for WAY TOO LONG because that is not a house or home to KYH#it's a constant reminder of the people he's lost and the horrors he suffered due to the utter shithead that was his father#ive been debating between 2 edits i did for that song for two nights and I've ended up picking the more literal one because I didn't want#too many close up images of peoples faces for this. but just know there is a file on this laptop of kyh crying while hes literally haunted#by memories of his father#I really did try to use a shot from the knife scene for the album cover because it would have been SO GOOD as a mirror to the original albu#however my editing skills are not good enough to make the background less distracting and I'm working with not HD images so it looked worse#so a moments silence for what could have been#no one asked but its 2am and that means oversharing so#Interlude absolutely had to be the on a line by itself because despite everything else going on with KYH keeping Elijah save is Rule One#it's supposed to kind of overshadow everything else because keeping her safe and unaware of Certain Things absolutely does for him#whether it actually translates is a different matter#kgo being on his knees (yet again) is what swung it for that picture otherwise it would have been kyh looking on as jae hee grabs her
