Today in the Department of Before They Were Star Trek Stars, William Shatner guest stars in "Admotting Service," episode 6 of the first season of Dr. Kildare (original air date November 2, 1961).

Shatner plays Dr. Cunningham, the supervising resident for Dr. Kildare's internship on the admitting ward. Kildare and Cunningham come into conflict over over a patient Cunningham discharges when Kildare has a gut feeling his case is more serious than Cunningham's examination indicates. The patient goes home and immediately dies, and his family threatens to sue the hospital and Cunningham. But the autopsy indicates that while Kildare's instinct was correct, the patient's condition was so rare Cunningham couldn't have been expected to catch it.
