          it’s supposed to be a bloody mess of a fight, he’s told--high risk of nobody coming back from this one.  granted, that’s what they’ve normally signed up for, but this time, looking at the places they’re going to be going--it’s next to certain that rose and the tsukiyama family won’t take kindly to the invasion of their home.  

          he can hear his brother barking out orders, but once hide gets his, and the order to move in begins, he takes his earpiece out and covers his ears with the same big, bulky headphones he used to use in college--he had hidden them away so nobody would question it--and turned his music on.  he’s aware that the sudden combination of metal-and-dubstep blaring at full volume must be startling, from the way sasaki looks over at him and starts saying something, but hide just takes that as his cue to go, quickly moving to engage in combat with the guards walking the perimetre.

          and hide flips over one easily enough, slamming the blade of his naginata into one of the guards and then the music he’s listening to drops the bass---and that’s when hide ducks down under a kagune, spinning around and moving to stand as he does, quinque meeting ghoul flesh as a knife to butter.

haise wrapping his entire body around hide. extra layer of protection. pets his pretty hair and whispers safe things.

          he blinks at the sensation of haise holding him, but hide chooses to not question it--to be selfish and revel in the feeling haise wants to share.  he closes his eyes and leans more on the other, his body shaking as he whimpers pathetically.  tears threaten to spill over, but hide doesn’t care, just clinging to haise and trying to not sob.

It had been a simple plan at first. Draw him in (not hard, considering the way he had been eyeing her), accept his offer for a date, ask him to walk her home, and have herself a nice meal when all was said and done. Such an easy thing to do. Then, when she was about to take a bite, she didn’t. Instead, she started thinking. Her hunger was unyielding, never satisfied, pinching at her where she assumed other ghouls, the ones who thought themselves so above it all, must feel some semblance of peace, that the notion of letting someone go was laughable. Yet... maybe she shouldn’t eat this one quite yet.

When all was said and done, their ‘date’ had been pleasant. Kaneki Ken made good company. Sometimes, even monsters desired for a human touch.

It had started with her changing her mind and spiraled into this. Good or bad? She wasn’t sure. As she opened her eyes and offered a smile to the person across from her, Rize told herself that if things went downhill she could still have a nice meal. If they didn’t... she might still feel a little peckish. Still. Last night was, in her opinion, not regrettable in the least.

Rize stretched her arms out and gave a light yawn. “Good morning, Kaneki. Did you sleep well?”

After her avatar dying right at the beginning of the level for what felt like the hundredth time she put it down with a heavy sigh and instead opted to roll around on the couch, before finally settling down to give the wall an angry stare.

Somehow, he’d become so important - his support, his smile, the way he could cheer her up oh so easily.

It’s been a while since he left. It’s dark. He isn’t back yet. 

What if something happened? Something must’ve happened for sure-

At the sound of the door unlocking, she perked up and ran to the entrance as fast as her feet could carry her.

Soon enough her small figure collided with his and both tumbled to the ground, him too surprised by the sudden force to retain his balance.

She, however, does not care the slightest, rather snaking her arms around his form and nuzzling closer to him.
