For nearly a decade, the Oath Keepers — which formed in 2009 in the wake of Barack Obama’s election to the presidency — have responded to disasters like hurricanes and floods by administering rescue operations, serving hot meals, and doing construction work. Disasters provide the Oath Keepers with opportunities to fundraise and gain the trust of people who might not otherwise be sympathetic to their anti-government cause. By arriving to crisis zones before federal agencies do, the Oath Keepers take advantage of bureaucratic weaknesses, holding a hand out to people in desperate circumstances.
This all serves to reinforce the militia members’ conviction that the government is fallible, negligent, and not to be trusted. And every time a new person sees the Oath Keepers as the helpers who respond when the government does not, it helps build the group’s fledgling brand.
[...]
“There’s a long-standing conspiracy theory among the far right that everything that FEMA does is dual use,” Jackson said. “It has this surface-level purpose of responding to emergencies and disasters and all that kind of stuff. But also it’s building up the infrastructure so that one day when martial law is declared, there are these huge detention camps and there are deployed resources to be used by troops who are enforcing martial law.”
Many Oath Keepers subscribe to that belief, but they’re not vocal about it. Publicly, Jackson said, they portray themselves as supplementing FEMA’s efforts and even working in tandem with the agency. It’s part and parcel of the group’s founding ethos — understand the system, work within the system, and be prepared to defeat the system when the time comes.

Alex Kaplan at MMFA:
A group of far-right media figures has announced the formation of a militia group that is dedicated to “mobiliz[ing] to DEFEND this Republic from any enemy.” The newly formed group includes Rumble streamers Pete Santilli and Stew Peters, who have both called for political opponents to be killed. The militia has established several social media accounts with the apparent aim of recruiting members, including an account on Instagram.
On June 3, podcaster and alleged January 6 participant Jake Lang announced a “NATIONAL CONSTITUTIONAL MILITIA” called the “North American Patriot and Liberty Militia,” or “NAPALM” for short. Lang claimed that NAPALM was “organized and ready to mobilize to DEFEND this Republic from any enemy. Forgien or Domestic.” Lang — who wrote that he would serve as “national chairman” of the militia group — “faces multiple charges of assaulting law enforcement officers” and has been held in jail ahead of his September trial for his alleged crimes and what a judge called “a continued willingness to engage in violence.”
The militia’s site, which was linked in the announcement post, claims that the militia already has “over 20,000+ members across all 50 states,” including “active Sheriffs, military, veterans, emergency responders, doctors, farmers, entrepreneurs, and blue collar Americans.”
[...]
To promote and recruit for the militia, the group established public, state-specific Telegram groups for people to join and then be vetted for more private chats. The militia urges people to “make your Telegram account anonymous before joining,” and a message in the public groups details next steps “to get you placed in your Vetted County Militia chat where you can message back and forth with other members & the Leadership.”
A group of far-right social media influencers such as Couy Griffin and Stew Peters are recruiting to form a new right-wing extremist militia called North American Patriot and Liberty Militia (NAPALM).

I'm so confused. Hollywood is doing what?
The whole message behind this blog is too literally burn corporate headquarters into the ground. I'm not joking. We are going to have to set industry executives points of control on fire to start to take back control of our lives. Yes, FBI - I said what I said.
Is... is Hollywood supporting this message?
This whole Beekeeper movie coming out is an entire ... what?
a) White savior comes in and pours gasoline all over a corporate headquarters after they kill his black friend over, presumably, land they want... and then
b) Proceeds to fuck an entire industry of shills up.
Like... what? Why the fuck would anyone in MGM executive offices back this message? They do know their offices should be included in the great torching, right?
I'm so confused. Definitely going to watch the movie when it comes out because watching corporate leadership and corporate shills getting their fingers cut off is good television but I'm just very confused.

I’ve been warning about this forever. This potential tactic has been written about and discussed by far-right Republicans for decades.

“Prieto was taken into custody in New Mexico on May 14 after allegedly supplying rifles to an informant and an undercover agent while plotting out an attack on African Americans and other minorities at a concert in Atlanta.
According to federal prosecutors, Prieto told the individuals, who he met while selling at gun shows, that he hoped to “kill as many people as possible” and leave Confederate flags, Ku Klux Klan propaganda and other “offensive rhetoric” at the scene of the shooting in order to incite retaliation and start a race war.”

A substantive debate can be had over whether Trump understood what forces he was unleashing in the run up to Jan 6. What is beyond question in my mind now, especially connecting the dots between stumping in Waco and declaring “I am your vengeance!” is that Trump clearly believed he owned that mob on Jan 6, it pleases him, and he now absolutely is attempting to raise an army to fight for him (as deniable assets) if 2024 does not go as he wishes. Locking him up is harm reduction and the reduction may not even be all that noticeable at this rate.
He needs to be defeated at the ballot box again clearly because 80 some million people still valued the fig leaf of legalism as a source of authority in 2020 and any more erosion of that norm is going to be real bad. But it won’t be over either. There’s no rules and norms “liberal” rapture coming to make it all go away. We will be dealing with this for a long time to come and probably even after the GOP Diadochi start battling over Trump’s legacy should he stroke out sometime soon.

Militia groups from several states were plotting to send snipers to the border to shoot border patrol agents. The shootings would be then blamed on immigrants and Mexico with the hopes of starting a foreign war, civil war, or both.
So far the only reason we haven’t devolved into civil war is because MAGAts are dumb as a bag of rocks. We can’t count on it being that way forever. Sooner or later these deranged Trump supporters will assassinate a political rival, knock out a major power station, or cause a mass causality event.
We need federal anti-militia laws now. We can’t have oligarch warlords running around with right-wing agendas and private armies equipped with military hardware. This is a disaster waiting to happen and one that China, Russia, and bad actors in the Middle East are attempting to organize and fund.

Brief 'Sanctuary' mention in the news
From a Salon article Stand your ground set the stage: How we let fascism creep in by Scott Huler
From article, describing the above image: A man holding an automatic rifle poses in front of a 3% flag which is a far-right anti-government militia movement. The Rod of Iron Freedom Festival is an anti-government, Christian far-right movement that held a 3 day 2nd Amendment Rally of Freedom, Faith and Family. A few far right politicians were in attendance and the event featured a speech from HJ Sean Moon, the founder of the World Peace and Unification Church in Pennsylvania, who often wears a crown made of bullets. Members take marriage vows to their AR-15 rifles and have blessings for their guns. Many in attendance were seen carrying guns.
