My fave part of Spy x Family episode 2 is when Loid and Yor are running from the guys attacking them, and Loid is about to get hit but Yor jumps in and saves him.

He finds out she’s an excellent fighter, capable of fighting for herself and saving him, and he kinda goes:

And my Rivamika AU brain tried to imagine what Levi’s curious face looked like when he first heard about this girl Mikasa whose strength/skill comparable to his own

and even MORE, his reaction to actually seeing Mikasa’s strength/combat for the first time. I know they kinda worked together during the Female Titan/forest scene but Mikasa didn’t really showcase fighting skills there; there must’ve been another point where he actually witnesses it

Like!! You can’t tell me he wasn’t impressed like??? Damn???

AND THENNN imagine their first time getting to fight together on a mission??? It must’ve been a breath of fresh air for Levi to have a right hand comrade with his level of skill — because 10000% there has never been a comrade of Levi’s at Mikasa’s level.

I imagine that was Levi after he and Mikasa fought Kenny’s crew in the Crystal caves together (or really, all of the Uprising Arc lmao)

About that Sicario spy AU you talked about, I think I've read a rivamika fanfic with themes and story you've described but I'm not sure if it was exactly that or not, it was called "A dangerous game" by LittleWhisperer and I had read it on AO3 (and it was dark as well and they smashed :D and Levi left her forever), you can check that if you want.

Ah, thanks for calling that out tho, because i really loved that Sicario spy AU concept. Also, i actually made all those gifs and it was ANNOYING AF to time it just right so i could write a little blurb for the scene context. And to those who havent seen the film- PLEASE DO. It is tragically underrated, but feel free to skip the joyless cashgrab that was the sequel.

Anyway to your ask- YES YES YES, @whispermethis is a true Rivamika champion, her fics are legendary and usually make it on any fic rec list. In fact, while i did not list it specifically i do give a special shout out to ALL her fics on my very outdated RM fic rec list: One Big Slutty Fuckoff List of Gloriously Smutty RivaMika fanfics :D

Far warning to all, the fic handles pretty heavy themes and situations but is beautifully written. If you're an angsty smut slut like me then this fic is right up your alley!

And i have to admit, i actually have a tough time getting invested in AU-verse fics as my soul is so tied to Levi's & Mikasa's personal tragic backstories in canonverse, i just love it when fics explore/expand on that and can lead to fascinating character studies. With AU-verse, more time needs to be spent building up their backstories in the context of the AU world and well, my impatient slutty ovaries simply demand to see that angsty raw-doggin' smut ASAP (im sorry but im allowed a preference!!!)

All that said, A Dangerous Game is so masterfully written that i was FULLY invested in the AU world and have read this fic many, MANY times- y'all please do yourself a favor and READ THIS FIC!!!! And thanks for the solid fic rec anon, you're doin God's work :D

I decided to do this thing. I’m going to post six or so however many I deem necessary sentences from several WIPs of mine, partly to guilt myself into finally cracking down on updates and partly to promote my writing.

Loose Ends, chapter 4; slow burn, post-reveal love square

"I expect to be shown into a closet with you any day now," Adrien said lightly. Marinette snorted at that.

"They're not that desperate yet. I hope."

"So, My Lady. It appears our friends have deserted us. What shall we do?"

"Hmmm." Marinette pretended to think hard. "We could swing by the bakery, get some treats and have a study picnic in the park."

"That sounds like a great way to spend the afternoon. And according to the new schedule Nathalie sent me, I have the rest of the day free."

It felt like a loose tooth. Actually, Chat corrected himself, it was like what he imagined a loose tooth to feel like. After all, the moment he expressed the slightest pain or discomfort in regards to his teeth, he was usually whisked away to a high-paying dentist to keep his smile in its pristine and highly valued condition. But he had come across the phrase often enough to be able to use it correctly.

The fact that Marinette had a crush was something that had kept niggling at him. Yes, there was a bit of a jealousy involved, now that he had admitted to himself his feelings for her were less platonic than he had believed. But the main drive behind his interest was curiousity.

Mikasa was just checking some broken branches to the side of the trail when the wind shifted and she almost gagged at the stench it carried. The smell of rot mixed with something incredibly foul. It was acrid and metallic, not unlike blood but more bitter, more repulsive. Every instinct she possessed rallied against the smell, urging her to do something, to make it go away.

Mikasa pulled out her sword with one hand and prepared the marks for defense and shielding in her mind, ready to let them loose at the first hint of danger.

“Mikasa?” Armin called out, his right hand moving towards his own weapon and his face scrunching as the wind blew past him.

“Something’s ahead,” she replied, trying to block out the smell-induced nausea. “Free Magic of some kind.”

Keep It Simple, Stupid; a missing scene from Unconditional, a fake!marriage, spy!AU rivamika

"Are we going with Ajave as the beginning?" Mikasa asked. It made sense, it had been a two-person mission that had lasted for two weeks due to bad intel that had left them stranded in a desert with very few necessities. Levi shook his head after thinking about it for a while.

"We were still distant after we came back."

"That could have been due to the fact we released the stress on the mission and felt awkward afterwards," Mikasa suggested. Levi stared at her.

"Are you suggesting we pretend to have been unprofessional like that?"

Mikasa leant forward, resting her elbows on the table. Levi looked almost flustered. It was funny in a way.

"We're just humans. And honestly, thinking back on that hellish time, having sex would have at least made those two weeks more bearable."

He glared at her.

"You're not letting that one go?"

Mikasa shrugged.

"You were an absolute asshole during that time. If we were stuck there for any longer, I would have probably snapped and killed you."

Today I remembered the extremely problematic ‘90s romcom Addicted to Love, in which Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick play jilted lovers whose exes get together and who team up to break them up, falling in love in the process. And because I’m terminally brain poisoned, I thought this would make a really cute Rivamika AU. (Plus you can easily throw some Eren x Historia in there as the other couple.) I’ve been enjoying some toxic!Mikasa headcanons lately, where she unlearns some of those behaviors and starts to heal as a result of her acquaintance with Levi, and this definitely falls in that category.

In the movie, they end up essentially stalking their exes — Matthew Broderick is an astronomer who uses his equipment to spy on the new couple from the abandoned building across the street from their apartment — and committing a bunch of crimes to try to make it seem like they’re cheating on each other. There’s a scene where they break into the lovers’ apartment and start trashing it, but they get so worked up they end up having sex on their exes’ bed, which has big Rivamika energy for me. In the end they successfully ruin their exes’ lives (especially Meg Ryan’s ex, which is just more fuel for toxic!Mikasa) but end up regretting it, so they repair all the damage and then get together.

Imagine it: Rivamika using their strength and intelligence to be complete assholes and criminals (there’s a lot of stealing, breaking and entering, that kind of thing), but also realizing that they work so well together and that they’re actually having more fun plotting and scheming with each other than they did with their respective exes.

Someone please write and/or draw this, there’s not enough time in the day for me to produce all the Rivamika content I want 🤪😭
