Given we are two episodes in to bdubs this HC seasons I will ramble a tad about his format this season and the timeline/comparisons to past ones!

Let's talk in parts for a second. For thumbnails. I didn't really know what to expect tbh. He's been going more minimalist in thumbnails for a while now- HC S9 and Create have very simple thumbnails very focus on the builds (if they occur in the HC video). Go from season 7 HC to now and they've changed a Lot. S8 was simple too if you take away the color overlay. But S10 is mega simple. There isn't even a title on the thumbnails!

Then intros. S7 and S8 would randomly have an intro of "welcome to hermitcraft!" And sometimes none at all. S9 started "welcome to hoymicraf" (how do we spell this) consistently. Additionally all those seasons had some intros beginning with some third person camera to start a scene (more consistent as time went), or without that intro in season 7, 8 and 10 we'd also just start in first pov while bdubs is already in action. Additionally intro music was always very energetic, and so far what we heard in his first s10 intro (and based off the time lapses) we are getting something way more chill. Ep2's intro is one of those exceptions for the specific scenarios that happen sometimes. The choice of situational music.

General editing? Kinda crossed over with intros here because intros have very blatant editing with music and camera etc. Tbh the biggest thing to any season is music choice, which changes how things feel entirely. Past seasons had faster paced songs in intros and many building segments had orchestral, so on. The way those building segments play out has slowly turned into bdubs cutting it up to fit the beat of music, which is most apparent now in S10 and bwb S3. For S10 I feel like this enunciates the calm music even more as it puts emphasis on what is the louder/more striking note of the song. Through S10 episodes right now we have seen more use of replay mod in more than just the intro. Usually wide shots with music. Thought out compositions and wide shots often showing scale of things around him. Even purposefully taking moments to stop and pause and linger on the shot. Definitely more cinematic, and completely different with his it slows down.

It is interesting to see what some people might feel is a total 180! Considering I have seen the flow of his format for so long "slow" is not unfamiliar but because he has grown so much as a commentator he handles this very well. It's not "old inexperienced commentator" slow. Because you can tell if you pay attention he isn't different from who he has been in recent years. He's always the same and going this direction is done w the same level of development and experience. Hes still silly, he's still got energy. It's just presentation! It feels different a lot by how he's editing.

Even so it makes me wonder Why. Was his previous loud style and high energy more aimed at when his kids were just born and very little, and he had an obvious shift to making his videos possibly more appealing to children and be child appropriate? Has he 'mellowed out' for any particular reason? If you watch him a lot, especially his Livestreams (the member ones rly) bdubs thinks hard about his building skills. He is genuinely an artist aiming to improve every day and I think he's gotten a lot back into really expressing his thoughts and feelings regarding the art. It's been a gradual focus returning I have seen. Perhaps he has decided to lean into this more on purpose, and in doing so that shifts his focus away from what people felt was "childish" acting. But it's important to remember, as a bdubs lover, the analysis here isn't actually one to say he's "changed" because he hasn't. As a content creator he knows what he's going for and to some level has consciously made these changes. We still got bdubs, he's just doing it different. And honestly if you were turned off by the energy of S9, I highly recommend giving this season a watch if you want something more artistic, and good discussion about building process.

hi, sure!! i will say that 1) things shouldnt have changed so much with new patches. mods do break, but the mod authors are usually quick to rectify them so they work with the patches (check your downloaded mods in nexus and change the order to most recently updated and dl it. bg3mm is rly good at just overwriting old mods with the newer versions w/o having to do anything but import them)

and 2) i am just. a layperson doing my best when it comes to modding. i dont know shit so this is just my experience!

Okay, i just copied and pasted this from my mods page because this is a good starting point methinks. I don't mod through nexus' program, so i can only guide through bg3 mod manager (bg3mm)

alright lets start with the easiest types of mods: paks. PAKs are what bg3mm are able to export directly into the game without us having to do anything but i'll break it down

PAKs are typically: additional gear, hairstyles, earrings, weapons, faces, horns, eye colors, makeup colors, dyes, dice, new spells, new classes, new potions, and the like. they're things that dont need to override things in the vanilla game in order to be added, however, order is still important in bg3mm

find some shit you wanna dl. i'm gonna use tav’s hair salon as an example. they dl as zip files

i recommend having all of your dl-ed mods moved to a specific folder for you to keep track of

open up bg3mm and go to >file>import mod

4. select the mod/s you want to import

5. they will get loaded into bg3mm on the RIGHT SIDE (inactive mods)

6. you just have to click and drag the mods you want over to the right side to move them to active

7. certain mods need a special load order in bg3mm. ex: tav's hair salon needs to be above (a lower number) and it's icon patch needs to be below it (a higher number)

7a. unique tav should be loaded at the bottom of the load order(a higher number) and any "unique tav patches" that you need for other mods should be loaded beneath it (a higher number than unique tav)

8. press export at the top to the game file path and you should be all loaded in

yay okay now, to mods that need to be directly overwriting game files. you need a zip extractor - i use winrar

it will be in the mod description whether or not you need to add these manually, but they are typically: unique tav, different makeup or tattoo styles, different body types or body tattoos, etc. i'll be using soft body for my example because i lov it<3

a lot of work needs to go into getting soft body to work, and it has to be done in a certain order so that things are replaced and loaded properly

trips’ old shader pack needs to be dl-ed AND installed first. extract it. anything that needs to replace files will do so in the DATA folder for bg3 OR if it's unique tav, their specific folders

companions – old shaders is next, and fortunately the two files for this mod is now 2 paks, and can be added to bg3mm easily

soft body is finally to be dl-ed, extracted, and moved into the data folder. you have to enter the extracted folder and move the GENERATED folder created from the mod into the DATA folder for bg3. every time you install manually, you will get a prompt to overwrite the files. click YES as that is what is allowing the mods to exist

as u can see, i like pinning the data folder to the quick access so i can just throw the generated folders in when i need to

what sonic game should i play first, and which ones should i avoid, if there are any

hmm... depends on what you want!

If you want a more 2d platforming experience, Sonic 1, 2, or CD are my go-to recs! just stick to the IOS/sonic origins versions that support widescreen! Sonic 3 & Knuckles/Sonic 3 A.I.R. can also be good, but you should play through at least 1 or 2 to really appreciate just how much went into it comparatively!

if you want 3d platforming with focused and refined gameplay, i'd recommend sonic adventure 2! if you want 3d platforming that's less polished, with a splash of a bunch of different gameplay experiences, sonic adventure 1 is super diverse thanks to its hub worlds and how differently every character plays (big is a charming change of pace for example, ignore the idiots that call all sonic fans furries and say Big sucks)! (i'd also recommend emulating Sonic Adventure 1 on dreamcast over playing the DX port on steam/gamecube, but the PC/steam SA2/SA2B Port is fine!)

If you want "Boost" gameplay, which is essentially a 3d platformer if it was more like a racing sim (think Forza or Need for Speed), I'd recommend Generations or Colors! There's drifting, and generally the stages are more like giant race courses with simple obstacles that rely more purely on reflexes than controlling the character in a space!

Lastly, if you wanna try some open world stuff, apparently Frontiers is considered pretty good! It still mostly plays like a "Boost" game but considering the reception of most sonic games since 06, the fact that I've never really heard bad things about it since its release is nothing to sneeze at!

Avoid Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) (unfinished, and the gameplay between the 3 characters is boring and stuck between platforming and the future "Boost" gameplay), Sonic Unleashed (has good Boost gameplay but you have to deal with the Werehog Beat Em Up stages which are Not Worth It), and Shadow the Hedgehog (not as tightly designed as SA1/SA2/Heroes, a lot more Grungy which may or may not interest you)! I will say though, if you get into the Sonic series, you can enjoy pretty much any game released outside of purely unfinished or poorly made ones like 06 and Sonic Boom! The core focus of "Platforming but Fast" is pretty consistent!

Ooh and highlights for spin-off games for me are Sonic Riders (absurdly good mascot racer/snowboard hybrid game and a sort of precursor to Sega All Stars Racing) and Sonic the Fighters (really fun and simple 2d fighter that can be bought and played on the Xbox Live Arcade), and Sonic Robo Blast 2/Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart (SRB2 is a fanmade 3d platformer that's been actively worked on for 20+ years, and SRB2Kart is a fanmade mod of that platformer that's super popular for being a rly good mascot racer!)

I'll also pass it on to followers if they have personal reasons for recommending some games!

Looking for genuine insight from like-minded folks, and this blog was the only place i could rly think of for reaching the intended audience.

I really enjoy an AU fic I'm reading right now; it's a human AU of animal/anthro characters, with some mythological creatures thrown in. But there is one detail in the story that doesnt sit right with me: i assume to still keep a few animalistic traits for the characters around, this author has used Native American stereotypes involving shamanism, shapeshifting, and animal spirits. The author strikes me as someone who isn't American and genuinely doesn't mean harm, is just genuinely a bit ignorant (not saying that as a neg thing, just an observation.)

This this detail could easily be substituted for something more mundane w/o changing the story much, aside from minor editing. Im tempted to (very politely) comment/DM author about this and request they change it, as it's fairly uncomfy & goodness knowns native americans have to deal w/ enough appropriation in media/fandom as is.

But should i even bother? I don't want to come across like im trying to police fandom content or "white knight" for a minority I'm not part of. But this detail is also something that i think will keep me from ever recommending the fic to a friend w/o at least a heavy disclaimer beforehand, bc it's pretty obviously not something that crosses author's mind other than a """realistic""" way to give their humanized characters familiar animal traits (like ears, or fur/feathers, or an anthro "in-between" form.)

Idk. Thoughts, folks? Blog mods or otherwise, I'm genuinely stumped and wondering what others think, especially those who are part of the ethnic group in question. Would it be "too far" for me to ask the author if they'd CONSIDER (obvi i can't force them) changing this?

re: that "i missed bg3 so i played dai" post. i had a friend who once Genuinely recommended dai to me as a good dnd-like game (or something) (before i was blessed w a regular dnd group) (i didnt play any other dragon age games before this) and i just could not get into it. the good side of this is it was massively discounted at the time so i only spent 5ish€ on it+all the dlcs

hey oh my god this took me so long to get around to and im sorry but sotf is maybe my favorite thing in the world and i wanted to pour my heart into this answer even tho its really not necessary

survival of the fittest is an old series bdubs ran in 2014 that consisted of two seasons of a battle royale style competition set in modded minecraft. the modpack introduces guns and vehicles, including planes and helicopters allowing for air combat, and the whole thing takes place in this giant custom map full of cities that are constantly getting destroyed in airstrikes.

the map and gameplay are so cool, but rly what gets me are the players and how they all get so fucking into it. bdubs especially plays this game like its life or death and makes every decision very carefully, including his alliances. interactions with other players are high stress situations and it becomes so evident who he puts his trust in when he's forced into a world where he shouldn't trust anybody, but does anyway.

i always joke that bdubs invented minecraft death games because of sotf which is not true, but if u are looking for something similar to the life series in the fact that it's just a bunch of friends taking a minecraft minigame too seriously, and u don't mind 2014 youtube, then u should absolutely check it out! if u need a place to start, i'll give u the same recommendation that rio gave me many months ago which is to start with ethos pov of season one, and then if u can bear two hours of bdubs crawling around in the dark, watch his pov of season two!!!! and if u do and u like them please put all of ur thoughts directly into my inbox xoxo

what version of citra do you have downloaded? do you have an awakening rom? when you right click on the awakening title in citra, do you see the "open mods/romfs folder" option? after you unzip the mods from wherever you download them (Project Thabes, something I recommend, comes with Unofficial Gay Awakening so if you want Thabes you don't have to also download UGA)), have you put them in that folder? the foleer you're moving should be titled romfs.

ive wanted to play silent hill ... i had a rly hard time a couple years ago trying sh1 (mostly bc of tank controls...). do you have any recommendations for having a better time w the series? or is it kinda just a situation of like. get better LOL

yeag, silent hill 1 is rly janky. I have a hard time recommending it cuz its basically just a slightly worse re1 in terms of gameplay.

best entry point is, of course, silent hill 2. especially with the enhanced edition mod, which fixes a lot of the issues that the PC port has

alternatively, if u like female protags and some weird shit, silent hill 3 is good and genuinely a terrifying experience. it is a "direct" sequel to the first game so a lot of the story is relevant to it but mostly for contextualising why shit is happening to the protag. u can still enjoy it as a great horror experience without needing to play SH1

you don’t have to create a onceler to join either of those! there’s plenty of ocs (deloraxed or not) that are in both of them :3

but if you rly wanna do a onceler, i think it’s okay if your gimmick matches an existing onceler, especially if the blog is no longer active. like how many oncelers themed around being monsters or curses do u think exist?? so many. countless, but they're all kewl bc what matters is how you approach the character and give it your own twist! unless it’s something super specific, i don’t think anyone would mind if another idk retail onceler existed for example (thinking of retail bc i’m at work rn abloo bloo)

if this is your first time joining, i'd definitely try to pick something you're passionate about as a theme or set of personality traits! it'll keep you going and strong at the start of it all before the ball officially gets rolling.

also idk if you plan to do art or not but dont be discouraged if you dont! or if you dont think your art "is good enough"!!! some of the biggest oncelers in the fandom (swag and gent are the immediate first to come to mind) had mods who didnt draw for their posts and they still were well received! what matters is how much the concept means to YOU and how much passion you put into it. and ultimately: what matters most is if you have fun with it! :3

so like if something isnt' fun anymore. change it! or dump it and start over! it's okay!

and if you do draw, just..draw...like idk maybe its just a me thing, but i sabotage myself hard if i focus too much on my askblog/rp art being like...good lmao. i just get it out there. what matters is im enhancing the scene/perspective/emotions of what im doing and adding to it so it can be as quick as a doodle, or something fully rendered that took me hours, what matters is that i dont get too hung up on how "good" it is and if it IS something that takes longer, that it's not making me miserable to work on it. if it is? fuck it, we doodle.

also, put yourself out there! approach people with ideas or whathaveyou. test the waters to see where the chemistry lies and if those characters' mods would wanna plot w you! or even just do one-shots to see have some fun/see where things go. the worst favor u can do urself is to sit there and like...stew in fomo and let shyness/fear/whatever hold you back. and if you dont have ideas or dont get any hits back, focus on your own plot for awhile, let ppl see your character in action, it might spur some inspo

to answer ur question, its very chill! i have the channels im not interested in muted and we get @ pinged for when gumi goes live (usually before twitch alert rolls out if the mods are online)

everyone is super friendly, if u have a sub u can access the sub channel & custies/movie night once u sync ur discord and twitch, but about 70% of any conversations that go on in #general are just people sending rat emojis throughout the day

as for sub custies and movie night, customs are randomized teams with moderators lurking in the vcs, and for movie nights everyone stays muted except for gumi and we use sub chat for commentary and chit chatting

overall i recommend joining, theres never any pressure to interact or anything and you can always ask more clarifying questions for anything i rly don't mind !
