It's a compilation and also there's some Stone for practice bc I have no idea how to draw him pipipi Eggman is easier bc it's just his Sonic Boom design (I love it)

-Robotnik and Stone are married, very much married. Cartoon villains in love, I love that for them.

-["MARTHA I'M COMING HOME SWEETIE-"] Mixing up the movie things and the whatever's going on in the Sonic Boom, so Robotnik was gone for eight months and when he's back she's already born.

>Also the drawing is a reference to Icarly's "Whatcha got there?" "A smoothie" but she was clearly asking about the ostrich Spencer brought with him.

>Alternatively, Eggman's there and they go through the journey together yippiee. Choosing names, making evil parenting plans and whatever, being their idiot selves.

-In the one where he comes back and the baby's already there, Eggman does a terrible job as a father the few first months, but then he gets the hang of it and it's not so bad.

>He gets projectile vomited on and he's immediately asking to get an abortion (the baby's already born) (he didn't give birth to her), Stone says no anyways.

>"Surprisingly, I'm a good father" he thinks one day and it's because he's still very much an orphan here with no frame of comparation or example aside from researching the matter.

-In the one where they wait for her together, he does all the research necessary in all those months, absolutely refusing in doing an average job in that matter, he's the great Ivo Robotnik c'mon. He excels at anything and he'll be a great father (jk he's terrified of fucking up).

-The Stobotnik family is an evil but loving family, like the bears in Puss in Boots whwh criminal family✨

-For the funny of it, Sonic and Eggman got a sort of relationship like in Sonic Boom, so sometime maybe our favorite boy, Tails and Knuckles had to look after their child.

-Also since Knuckles broke Stone's and Robotnik's hands with their handshake, let's have him handle the baby with the most careful grip ever, just to demonstrate that he didn't have to grab their hands that hard aksdjask

-She's a big fan of Sonic and friends (Sonic the Hedgehog, not Sonic Wachowski, the second guy hadn't done even half the things she admires him for, but no one has the heart to tell her when she's a kid). Has a bunch of merch and all the comics of Sonic the Hedgehog.

>When she's a teenager she proudly uses her Sonic backpack in the same way Deadpool uses his Hello Kitty backpack.

-BTW Sonic, Knuckles and Tails are all brothers and Maddie and Tom's kids bc that's the best idea ever made.

-ALSO I'm definitely gonna draw that scene where Knuckles was about to put the baby in the blender and Sonic shouts THE CHILI DOG NOT THE BABY. Some day, you'll see pipipi.

-SAGE was created for various reasons, to be her sister (since she wouldn't stop asking for one but neither Stone nor Robotnik were willing in raising another human kid, thanks very much), to protect her, and also to answer the tedious "why?" questions that neither father had the patience for (A+ parenting right there). Maybe she was used for the original purpose too idk (I don't know that sonic game where she debuts).

>The child's delighted about having a sister, then she grows up and SAGE doesn't, so she has a little sister.

>METAL SONIC TOO MAYBE? Perfect lil american family, the two happily married parents and their three kids (one human girl, an IA and a robot clone of their alien enemy).

-On her early months she was called Pebble, because she really was a mini Stone, Robotnik went along with it (bc he also looked at her and only saw his husband whw) until she was a little older and they started calling her by her name.

>Alternatively, since Eggman was gone, Stone waited for him to return in hopes of choosing together a name for their child, and Pebble worked as a placeholder since she was just a bebi.

-She's a spoiled kid and also a little menace, unintentionally evil, she can't help it.

>Good-hearted too sometimes, she loves Sage and does her best to protect her back (it's not necessary but it's appreciated anyways).

-Robotnik calls himself 'daddy' way too much in the live-action movies to ignore it, so he's daddy and Stone's dad (dada when she was younger).

>"These are my daddies!" (points to what's clearly two villains -but also good fathers-)

-She has Robotnik's eyes but as big as Stone's. They're the lethal-est sad puppy eyes ever (they work wonders on both parents and other people) (both men got beautiful dark brown eyes with visible eyelashes fight me).

-She's the five-year-old that made Sonic fear them because 'they can be so cruel when they sense weakness' (she was brutally honest as any young kid is).

-Stone and Robotnik got Gomez and Morticia Addams kinda parenting. They see their child beating up someone and they're like:

"What did we do wrong?" (Stone while shaking his head in disappointment) "I know... she lacks resourcefulness." (Eggman) "Exactly, there's her baseball bat right there, why doesn't she use it?"

-Remember that Shadow said in a game that he wouldn't mind taking a candy from a baby? (fandub I think but still) This comes in handy when neither Tails, Sonic or Knuckles want to upset the kid (so Shadow does it instead).

-She plays sports too because she got too much energy. In each of them she loses her patience. She grabs the football and hauls it at the nearest team member, she throws her baseball bat to the ground and starts beating up whoever threw the ball that she missed, she stomps in frustration if she loses, she's great at dodgeball (sends her classmates to the infirmary).

-Throws tantrums and stuff and overall's an annoying kid if she's upset. Eggman's like UGH WHY'S SHE LIKE THIS?? and Stone's like Because of you, doctor (terrible temperament runs in the family and also Robotnik just spoiled her too much).

-I'm kinda dressing her up in the clothes that existed in my mind that supposedly Eggman wore (the weird dress-like jacket with the big zipper in the middle). Under her jacket there's a dress in the same pattern as the original Eggman's clothes, also she wears a baby onesie like that too.

-When she's older she's definitely proud of her fathers, but she doesn't appreciate the rumors that she's prone to go power-crazy like Robotnik did. Especially because it may be true, but what do they know.

-For the irony, she can't stand drinking coffee, but loves the smell of it because it reminds her of home (omg).

-THEY HAVE A PET CAT like I read in some fics and her name is Robot and she's a lil shit and also grumpy like Robotnik.

>Maybe she brings her alive mice to experiment on all sort of stuff (like Pávlov and his dogs and the guy Skinner with his mice and cats (??))

-She gets to hang out with Sonic and friends under the condition of annoying him as much as possible. So, she complies. (She loves Sonic the Hedgehog, but she loves making her fathers happy more).

-Very smart kid but not to the level of Tails or Robotnik at that age, she's just got very good memory and learning skills and knows a lot of stuff ever since she was a little kid. More like a Matilda-kinda intelligence.

-She's a scientist when she grows up too but the kind that makes evil potions and serums and stuff aksjdk probably (chemistry things? biochem idk). She can make silly little robots for the fun of it but it's not her passion, unlike Robotnik and Stone's. PROBABLY. I'm still deciding.

-BTW LOOK (it says 'carefully crafted ploy to distract space porcupines')

OKAY!! SO!!! I watched Sonic movie 3 yesterday and I NEED to talk about it! Spoilers below!

They seriously LOCKED IN when making this movie cuz it was SO GOOD!!! ACTUAL PEAK CINEMA!!! And honestly, it's probably the best instalment in the series!

I LOVED how they did Shadow's character in the movie! He isn't this edgelord and is this tragic and complex character, like how he is in the games!

I found it very interesting that he came from a meteorite instead of being made by Gerald, but it's still pretty likely that Shadow's still related to the Black Arms!

And DUDE!! Each scene with Shadow and Maria made my heart swell! They were SO cute! Like, that 1st scene with them, where Maria drew a little face on Shadow's tube thingy, and they put their hands against the glass, UUGGH!! I was tearin' up! I was seriously tearin' up, yo! Then they showed a little montage of them spending time together...! It was- It was so good. I LOVE how they handled their relationship! And, oh.. The way Maria died... She didn't actually get shot, but SHE WAS GOING TO!! And that is SO crazy to think about! Instead, she died from a explosion, caused by one of the G.U.N soldiers. And the very moment they showed Shadow and Gerald tearing UP! Eyes WATERING!! On the brink of TEARS!!! Like, I can't believe they actually showed that! Like- 😭😭😭

Okay, now I wanna talk about Sonic cuz HO-LY CRAP!

He was kinda scary after Shadow punched the living daylights out of his dad. (That scene was also so crazy btw! Like-! Like-! The parallels between Shadow to Maria's death, and Sonic to Tom's supposed death, UGH, IT'S SO GOOD) But anyway, yeah, so I feel like we've never seen Movie Sonic so serious, so ANGRY before! And the scene where Sonic is demanding the Master Emerald from Knux...! It was so hard to see them like that... (But I really liked the brief cameo that Wade had, I actually really like his character)

And OF COURSE I gotta talk about Super Sonic vs. Super Shadow! 1st of all, was NOT expecting it. 2nd of all, it was SO COOL, and SO HYPE! And that scene where they had a heart-to-heart on the moon, yo!! I just... I just love how they did that... And THEN! They teamed up and FUDGING LIVE AND LEARN STARTED PLAYING, AND THEY DID THE POSE!!! I freaked the fudge out, if you couldn't already tell.

Now I gotta talk about Robotnik and Stone cuz they made me sad. I felt SO bad for Stone in this movie! Like, that one scene with him and Tails where Tails asked Stone if him and Robotnik were friends, and Stone's just like, "Oh y-yeah! We're TOTALLY friends! Yeah. Haha..." Or something like that. And the scene where Stone says he doesn't want to loose Robotnik again, like DUDE😭 It's real, they are canon (well it might be one-sided on Robotnik's part-) BUT STILL!!!

And of course, I can't forget about the part where Robotnik is saying his final words to Stone. The scene was ACTUALLY emotional! I never thought anything like that would happen in the movie! It's also the closest thing to the "I've come to make an announcement", but instead of being hilarious, it's sad and bittersweet... And gay-

Can't believe they actually redeemed Robotnik too. Such a good send off to his character.

You already KNOW I freaked out during the after credit scene! I got spoiled that Amy was gonna be there, but Metal Sonic?! Wasn't spoiled for that! Dude. He looked so cool!! And there were other Metal Sonics! And they also looked cool! But where'd they come from? Who built them? Guess we'll hafta wait until the next movie!

All in all, this movie was super good, and I enjoyed every second of it! So much so, that I wanna watch it again! VERY BADLY!!

It makes Super Mario Bros (the old one with Bob Hoskins) look like a 1:1 adaptation.

"GROUNDER!"

Scratch yelled in Grounder's face. "Ah! Y- yeah?!" Grounder replied with a flinch. "Did you set up the trap? Jeez pay more attention!!" Scratch growled, crossing his arms. "Yea I got it set up, and I AM paying attention," he argued. "You just ignored my question 3 times!!" Scratch scoffed. "I did?" Grounder asked, seeming genuinely confused. "Oh whatever boltbrain, now all we have to do is wait and SO help me if you messed up the trap," Scratch fumed. "Me?! If anything you're gonna give away our hiding spot!" Grounder yelled back. "Shut up!!" Scratch groaned. "Wh- you need to shut up!!" Grounder ordered. "Fine!" Scratch growled, sitting down with a fussy trill. Grounder just rolled his eyes, eventually looking away and off into the distance.

At some point he had zoned out. He heard some noises but he didn't bother to look away from where he was staring off to. His mind was both racing but also numb. Like he had thoughts screaming in his mind yet it was fuzzy. He then felt a weird sense of dread come over him. He didn't know why though. He just felt sick all of the sudden-

"GROUNDER WOULD YOU QUIT IT?!" Scratch crowed in his face. Grounder flinched horribly, nearly passing out from how loud Scratch was. "Wh- what??-" Grounder was about to ask, but then looked up at Scratch. He was.. Definitely beat up!

"Take. One guess. At what happened while YOU were slacking off. Go on!" Scratch sarcastically prompted. ".. Sonic didn't fall for the trap and you got-" "YES. DUMB BOT. HE DIDN'T FALL FOR IT AND I GOT MY WORLD ROCKED!! AND YOU DIDN'T HELP!!" Scratch growled. Grounder shrunk back a bit, like a dog who knows they're guilty of causing trouble. "Sorry," he murmured. "IF DOCTOR ROBOTNIK GETS MAD IT'S GONNA BE ON YOU!! WHAT IS WITH YOU!!" Scratch hissed. "I don't know!!" Grounder responded sadly.

"What do you MEAN you don't know?! What so you don't know why you've been ignoring me!! Like I don't even matter!!" Scratch scolded. "I'm not ignoring you!! I just can't hear you!!" Grounder replied defensively. "Why? You need your ears fixed or something?.. Do we even.. Have ears?" Scratch asked, trailing off at the end. "No I just, I dunno I keep zoning off!" Grounder cried out. "Well stop daydreaming, we have work to do!" Scratch groaned. "I'm not though!! It's like, my mind becomes all weird a-and it's hard for me to think," Grounder attempted to explain. "Well you're like that all the time, so what's the problem now?" Scratch sarcastically teased. "Scratch I'm serious! Would you stop being a selfish asshole and let me explain?!" Grounder snapped at him, almost just as loud as his squawking. Scratch shut his mouth real quick, blinking in shock. ".. Thank you!" Grounder sighed out.

"When I say weird I mean like.. Fuzzy. Like nothing feels real in that moment. And I feel weirdly um.. Nauseated I think it's called? And I feel this sense of.. I dunno that something bad is gonna happen," Grounder finally explained, Scratch staying quiet the whole time. The bird tilted his head in confusion. "Why?" He asked. "Scratch, if I KNEW I'd tell you," Grounder groaned. "Oh," Scratch blinked, sitting next to Grounder.

"Scratch do you think there's a problem with me..?" Grounder asked nervously. "What, the fact you're dumb or the fact you're annoying?" Scratch scoffed. "Am I breaking..? A- am I supposed to be like this??" Grounder stuttered out, shaking a bit. "Oh that! That I.. I.. I dunno? I mean it's just zoning out right?" Scratch asked. "What if I AM breaking? Robotnik's gonna.. He's gonna tear me apart, probably while I'm awake too, and what if I don't even realize it!! What if I get stuck like that for good?! What if-"

"GROUNDER," Scratch shook him. Grounder quickly turned his head towards Scratch. "Grounder. Calm down, I'm sure you're fine!" Scratch brushed off. "Oh no I didn't hear you again, I'm getting worse it's getting worse," Grounder hyperventilated, holding himself. "What n- no you did hear me that time!! Grounder it's only you over thinking maybe you're just tired or something!!" Grounder just continued his anxious rambling, about how there was something wrong with him and how he couldn't be fixed and how he'll be scraped. Scratch was clueless on what to do. "Grounder calm down! I'm sure if it is a problem Robotnik can fix it!" Scratch tried to assure Grounder. But, that only confirmed the idea that there was something wrong with him more in his head. "A- and I keep having horrible thoughts and I keep feeling this idea of- of something horrible and- and-"

Grounder quieted up and flinched when he felt something grab his shoulder. "Grounder it's.. It's fine!" Scratch simply stated, awkwardly rubbing his shoulder. Grounder blinked through his hyperventilating. Was this his way of comforting? It was.. Pathetic. "I mean come on!! I have a ton of problems and yeah Robotnik threatens to throw me in the dump after beating me over the head every day, but he hasn't yet!! So stop.. Stop fussing over it," Scratch spat out. "That's not really that reassuring you know," Grounder mumbled quietly. He was expecting some sassy, snippy reply. "Yeah I know.." was what he got instead. Grounder sighed. "Well.. Thanks," he shrugged. Scratch patted his back. "Y.. Yeah! Now let's go catch Sonic!" He cheered, standing up and walking off. Grounder hesitated. "Scratch I know you said not to 'fuss' about it but what if it happens again?" Grounder asked hesitantly. Scratch stopped and turned around, looking down at Grounder. "Well.. Do you think it'll happen again?" Scratch asked. "I dunno.." Grounder mumbled. Scratch hummed. "Then maybe you can just.. Help with setting stuff up, I can do all the catching!" Scratch suggested. "But then you'll take all the credit and it'll give Robotnik more of a reason to scrap-" "I swear on my life I won't," Scratch firmly promised. Not playfully or sarcastically or angrily. Just firm and honest. ".. Are you sure?" "I'll say we did it, if he suspects anything just take the credit and I'll fight you for it," Scratch whispered. ".. Sense when did you have GOOD plans?" Grounder teased. "Oh shut it all my plans are good, now come on! We're wasting time!!" Scratch nagged, walking away. Grounder followed, and oddly enough the feeling of dread slowly began to fade away.

Moving onto the next part of Shorty’s introduction story, we get a battle of wills, with Robotnik being confident that the cybernik armour will never break and Shorty being confident that he’ll never obey Robotnik. For a lot of people, that would be just talk, but after seeing how passionate Shorty is in his Robotnik hatred last time, I’d believe him that he’s got the will-power to overcome this, even if I didn’t already know how this ends

And here it is, a big moment in StC history - Shorty the Squirrel becoming Shortfuse the Cybernik

At first, the experiment seems to be a success and Shortfuse behaves like a normal brainwashed badnik. I’ve gotta say, while the cybernik design does vary between artists, I do like how cute and squirrel-y it looks in this first appearance. They probably didn’t intend for it to look “cute” as such, but idk to me it makes it look more fitting to a Sonic character than some of the other random boss-tier robot designs we’ve seen so far

Thrilled with this success, Robotnik immediately sends his new cybernik off to front an attack on the Emerald Hill Zone. Y’know, I know this is a different era and the circumstances are different, but this does somehow make me think of the start of  e103 Gamma’s story in Sonic Adventure. I guess seeing Robotnik making his newest badniks and sending them off to battle is interesting to me?

Yeah, Shorty was bluffing! Of course he still has control of his own mind and all Robotnik’s done today is weaponized someone who’s going to become a powerful enemy for him

Robotnik takes this news about as well as anyone would expect. First date night at the Robotnik con was ruined and now this? It’s a bad day for these two

He isn’t going to take this lying down. Despite his confidence that not even Sonic could take down the cybernik, Robotnik’s convinced that he can destroy Shortfuse himself. And we’ll see how badly that goes for him next time!

Shadow has never been stated to be 18 or 20 though, he has only ever been stated to be physically 15 /nm

(Long post ahead. Tags are also important in advance. I will admit this post spirals into a tangent on how this matter started as well as stuff about other characters, and despite all linking together under the same theme-gazebo, it kinda derails, so feel free to read at your own pace.)

I don’t know much about the games—and that may make you feel “oh then why are you..” yeah, I mean like I don’t check manuals or have played them but I watch analysis videos, avidly Google shit and revisit the wikis now and then.

Just putting that out there.

The Sonic News Network wiki page merely renders him as ageless, whereas the Sega Wiki wiki page (where I got my information from last post) stated three (kinda) ages for the character:

Well, I know Wikis aren’t always accurate, so to back up the apparent evidence I had, if I’m just to Google his age just to double check—

Think this was my mistake in the previous reply, so I suppose I should apologise. And I do. I think my train of thought was: “He’s 18 years of age (y), with some range in other games (17-22y respectively)”, which isn’t right—but every source I could find on the character’s age came up with 18y and not 15y, so I stand by the claim that even though he’s “ageless” (immortal, basically) he’s physically 18.

It also doesn’t make much sense that he is “ageless”—perhaps due to his origins of being put into stasis like some sort of autobot, or something—when a physical age for him has been stated to be 18 (which makes sense, as Knuckles was, by technicality, the original Shadow, having been invented seven years before Shadow was, and as far as I remember is meant to be a year or two older (16 or 17) than Sonic (15)—it also makes sense because Rouge is also 18, apparently, and I’d have imagined them to be of very similar age). Technically that should just let him do an Edward Cullen and be 18 forever.

(I will note that I’ve never liked the prospect of Shadow being immortal. Or the duration it took for him to come out of stasis just to link to Dr. Robotnik somehow. Perhaps I’m just biased, but to me it feels heavily unjust—I wanted Shadow and Sonic carrying their rivalry all the way to the old folks’ home, damnit. And now that vision is ruined.)

Overall, being immortal really doesn’t suit Shadow’s character, in my opinion, and just feels like a plot point now simply discarded and forgotten. It really wasn’t necessary in the first place, and making him 18 (immortal or otherwise) would have been much easier, rather than the oh-so-enigmatic “ageless” genotype we all know and love today.

To remedy this, I like to think red-eyed Shadow is different to brown-eyed Shadow in the sense of age and therefore backstory. I made a post on it—in fact I think it’s probably the post right before this one on my blog—but currently my main focus is going to be on Prime, which is why I’m now so bitter about Shadow’s age, and Sonic character ages as a whole.

None of it really fits, and I think they all need to be updated (Sonic and Amy’s, especially). I mean, I know Amy’s was back in the day, but with how she’s depicted now as opposed to back then, even post-redesign (she went from an 8yo Sonic recolour to a 12yo what-we-know-now). I mean, I know her main, more “well regarded” character arc is learning how to mature, but with her literally being fucking 12 is just a pisstake.

Sonic’s age is less annoying as opposed to Shadow and Amy’s (respectively) because I don’t think too much into it until I notice it doesn’t suit him due to the situations he’s in. Yes, he’s young and he’s a teenager—a cocky one at that, which is one of the many good things Hardcore Sonic Fans (aka the “bronies” of this fandom, for lack of a more adequate word) praise Prime for depicting—so it’d make sense for him to be such (15yo), but to me it’s make much more sense for him to be like 16.

I’d be willing to say “maybe even 17”, but 16 just seems so perfect and on the nose. It’s such a nitpicky little detail but to me Sonic’s age wouldn’t seem so absurd if they just made him 16. It’d both make an immense difference and yet basically none at all that would force any impact on his characterisation.

Amy’s the most absurd—her age still hasn’t been updated from 12 and even though it’s an improvement from her being 8, it’s still ridiculous. If you’re (and by that, I mean the creators, not you, the anon) not going to change Sonic’s age, at least change hers. To me, she seems like she should be a year younger than Sonic at least.

Same could be said for Tails. To me he feels similar to Amy, or at least in the terms of arcs. He should be younger than Sonic, and either the same or younger than Amy, too. He’s still eight, and with how his character has evolved over the years, especially in the modern era, he needs to be just a mite older, like 12 or something.

I feel like Shadow’s age, I most have a problem with for literally being 50 (I don’t care if he’s “physically” 18 or whatever. He’s not Edward Cullen, although that too is also pretty creepy) and as for the coma thing, put it like this: if Timmy fell down the well at 8 years of age and woke up from his head-trauma-induced coma 50 years later, he isn’t automatically excused from picking fights or relationships with kids.

I added the “relationships” into it because this (the thing with the coma) seems to be the primary excuse for Sonadow shippers (I suppose with Rougeow it isn’t so bad because she’s canonically 18, probably to make her past sex appeal to humans somewhat legal, but still). I mean, I’ve seen the same being said for other ships, but not really. The primary ship seems to be for Sonadow, seeing as Amy’s age is always disregarded anyway, especially in the Sonamy side of the fandom.

Shadow was my favourite part in Prime, I’ll admit—I liked his banter with Sonic, and I liked his voice actor (oh, Ian Hanlin, how I love your vocal range so)—which is why my anger for Shadow’s age and backstory made a resurgence (it was either mid-last year or the one just before, where I went through a Sonic phase on my blog after revisiting Boom, and somewhere during that I’d said the same thing, although not to this much feedback from an anon/anons).

I also made the post about Shadow’s eyes because if noticed they were brown in Prime but didn’t really pick up on what exactly was off until I’d googled it. One could argue they’re red for TV as opposed to the games, but in Sonic X they’re red, like in the games, and in Sonic Boom they’re a more saturated colour, making them mostly dark red, borderline brown.

So, I assume as the modern era of Sonic-based media progresses/progressed, they’ve turned from brown to red. It’s subtle but I hope it says a lot. Mostly for his backstory, because god, do I hate Shadow’s backstory.

Just a few random headcanon-y thoughts after watching Sonic.

Why is nothing ever said about the fact Tom and Maddie have the same last name (Wachowski) as the creators of one of the coolest action movies ever made (The Matrix). You know that had to be one of the "too many action movies" Sonic says he's watched.

Maddie is awesome for being so cool with all of this. It's probably gotten to a point where other people react to whatever shenanigans Sonic gets up to and she's just like "yup, same shit that usually goes on around here." or "yeah, in this house, that just means it's Tuesday."

There was probably a mention from her of "this isn't exactly how I pictured having kids, Tom, but okay let's go with it."

Dr. Robotnik will have a new arch nemesis now. Sonic is just like " you tried to kill me and Tom, it's not me you should be afraid of" right before Maddie goes all Mama Grizzly on him

I picture, now that they know about him, the townspeople actually invite Sonic to things, and maybe even let him play in a baseball game.

Crazy Carl is still rubbing it in everyone's faces that he was right about the 'Blue Devil'. There is a town ordinance banning him from having a chainsaw outside his own property.

The workers at the donut place start calling Tom 'Donut Lord'. Tom knows exactly who is responsible for this.

There are now local or school sports teams named the Blue Devils in Green Hills. Sonic himself sometimes attends their games as the mascot, making out-of-towners think there is a hyperactive midget living somewhere in town who likes to be a sports mascot.

The whole town will help protect Sonic from the government whenever some organization comes looking for him. During these times the 'No chainsaws for Carl' ordinance is not enforced (because let's face it, he was way scarier with the saw than the cop with a gun was)

shes my longest lasting sonic oc, with origins as sonics beloved sister in a roblox roleplaying game. over time she developed, at first through extensive Autistic Child Thoughts, then through roleplays (still on roblox). when i stopped playing roblox i totally forgot about her, but a while back i remembered her existance and gave her new life. i wont be talking about her lore as sonics sister savannah, because shes so far gone from that its hard to tell theyre the same.

her mega old lore:

skylar was a member of what was basically a magical girl duo (trio?) of sisters, all members of which represented a music genre. im fairly sure skylar was the pop-themed girlie. there was also a rockstar who i forgot most of the lore abt. and MAYBE there was a pink one but i have no idea what genre she cldve represented! anyways this was where skylar first got her telekinetic powers, she didnt have them as savannah. this version of sky could be considered classic sky.

her old lore:

born to powers she didnt really understand, skylar was the daughter of a renowned scientist who was studying strange crystals she found. but the crystals had been infused with corrosive dark mana, and skylars mother went insane from prolonged exposure, going on a skilling spree and eventually being shot to death by g.u.n. soldiers. the crystals were gone however, scattered throughout the realm. she was raised by her father, who tried to teach her how to use her telekinetic powers, but he was eventually captured by robotic when he seized their home city. when evil forces becomes aware of the crystals, dubbed the 'demon crystals', skylar must find them before he unleashed their corruptive power and destroys the world as she knows it.

this version of skylar is quite similar to the modern rendition, just with a bit stranger story. shes 15 and she had a boyfriend in the rps i did. at one point she got like fuckin posessed??? she was like a protoblorbo i loved her so much. a bit of her lore revolved around the rp game i played, which was like...crossover sonic rpg i think? i loved to fuck arnd in there

her current lore:

skylar remembers very little about her childhood, her memories scattered and blurry. her mother azula was a military scientist tasked with creating a perfect weapon. she somehow uncovered crystals infused with a dark energy, and eventually the power consumed her making her go mad. azula was locked away in a g.u.n. facility for a long time, and skylar was raised by her father colbalt. when she was 18 robotnik took over her city, and 'inducted her father into his ranks'. azula eventually broke out of of the g.u.n. facility and joined robotniks ranks, searching for her weapon so they could jointly rule the world. skylar joins up with team dark to search for the crystals, which she believes her mother is hellbent on looking for, all while g.u.n. and robotnik + azula are after her.

she doesnt know that she is the weapon.

this is her current iteration and i love her lore soooo much. yeah her father got roboticized. its a little awkward when azula and colbalt run into each other in the halls. ANYWAYS shes a lebsian and rouge is her crush (and later hee girlfriend) because i said so! she also probably gets mistaken for sonic a lot, being a blue hedgehog with greenish eyes. she looks a lot more like sonic than any of the other s-name hedgehog boys.

You know it’s for the best, but you can’t help but wish you could help Agatha more.

Your magic is incredibly unstable, and no matter how much you’ve been practicing you still struggle to control it. Agatha’s been happy to cover for you and keep you away from Wanda so she doesn’t get suspicious, but it’s getting a little boring to not participate in all the fun. Occasionally you’ll run into Billy and Tommy and they’ll wave to you, despite them having no idea who you are. Most people probably think you’re just “Agnes’s” friend, since she seems to be the only person you consistently hang around and talk to.

Agatha tells you that soon you’ll be able to reveal yourselves, and even though you’ll still have to be careful with your powers, at least you won’t have to hide anymore. That gives you hope, that the plan will be fulfilled, and someday soon “The Scarlet Witch” will be a danger no more.

You go for a walk in the afternoon while Agatha goes over to Wanda’s house, and you pass by the playground with only Billy and Tommy. It’s so strange that Wanda doesn’t often use other children in her little town. At least she’s not traumatizing them, but it would be nice for her boys to have some other friends their age.

They wave to you as you pass by, but this time they call to you as well.

You’re not sure if you should talk to them at all, but it can’t hurt to play with them a bit, right?

“Hey boys! How are you?” you ask with a smile.

“Great! Do you want to play tag with us?” Tommy jumps down from the monkey bars.

“Sure!” you nod, chasing them around for a while.

Once they’re both out of breath, they sit on one of the benches.

“What’s your name?” Billy asks.

“It’s Y/N,”

“Are you one of our neighbors?”

“Mhmm. I live next door! I live with Agath- Agnes,”

Oh, no. Should you have said that?

“Cool. Are you guys married?”

“Yes, actually,” you laugh.

“I can’t wait to get married. Seems fun. Except for when mommy and daddy fight,”

“They’ve been fighting?”

“Yeah. Daddy thinks mommy is hiding secrets from him. Do you keep secrets from Agnes?”

“None that I can think of,” you shrug. “I’m sure it’ll be alright though, don’t worry. It’ll all be over soon,”

 When Agatha comes home in the evening, she looks a bit angry, which is incredibly rare for her, especially if it’s directed in any way at you.

“Darling,” she takes a deep breath. “Why did you tell the kids that we’re married?”

“I’m so sorry, I ran into them today and it just slipped out,”

“You didn’t remember that I’ve already told Wanda I’m married to a guy named Ralph? Now she’s confused and I need her to trust me!”

“Oh,” you sigh. You totally forgot about that little lie. “Maybe she’ll just think you’re polyamorous or something? It’ll be fine, Aggie,”

“The plan was to make her question herself and this world she created, not us,” she sits on the couch next to you, shaking her head and calming down. “I’m sorry, hun. I just…I want this to work. We’re dealing with some of the most powerful sorcery in the universe here, she could hurt you if she finds out who we are. I can’t let that happen,”

“Thank you for protecting me,” you kiss her. “But we’ll get through all this together. She can’t hurt us as long as we stand by each other,”

Wait, you would be upset if it doesn't turn out Knuckles is the last echdna? I get that's different from canon, but so is Movie!Sonic in a lot of ways.

yeah maybe a little pissed LMFAO 😭 it depends how they’d go about it but honestly with the proposed ideas of those fake leaks, combined with how them actually showing up in this movie for more than two seconds with speaking roles would be STRANGLING that budget of theirs...you gotta be honest, it sounds like they’d be creating the most unnecessary changes and problems for themselves that would create a worse product and story anyway. I think if that were to happen, it would be WAY different from those fabricated concepts and honestly probably still really strong?? My belief is they’d find some sort of compromise. Maybe other echidna are out there, but for whatever reason they aren’t really in contact with Knuckles, and are still otherwise just a concept that exists. I don’t really want them to stay relevant in any present story, honestly. Flesh em out through flashbacks n whatever but otherwise they’re overstaying their visit and them interacting directly with Knuckles COMPLETELY takes away from the fact that he is supposed to be an unsocialized loner, the exact traits that lead him to falling for Robotnik’s tricks.

But, it’s honestly hard to talk about that hypothetical situation, since...I believe we are getting a really source-material faithful Knuckles with 100 percent certainty by this point. Jeff Fowler, amongst others, has made their vision clear for what they want to do with the character, and I’m pretty sure it would be impossible to carry that out and not have him being the last of his kind at the VERY forefront of your mind when getting started with the conceptualization process.

And yes, I’m aware Movie! Sonic is very different, but like...did Sonic really have that fleshed out of a main backstory or character anyway upon his debut? All that was needed was to go from Point A to Point B, creating an origin story for this Sonic and Robotnik. It’s the fact that in order to give Sonic a more multi-faceted personality with big emotional motivations FOR that backstory and journey...they had to dig a little deeper for how to do that. Knuckles has a lot more canon history and backstory behind him, from his late tribe to his connection to the Master Emerald, even including how he befriended Sonic. They wouldn’t need to do as much ground-up work for him if they knew they already had some solid and iconic material to work with for him, it’s practical. Why change a character backstory and motivation that’s already is so easy to carry out and sympathize with?

That’s not to say I want Knuckles to be COMPLETELY 100% accurate and unchanged from his 90s self, though, which I don’t think I express enough :O

If the clan is gone, would Knuckles know more about them and how that went down? It appears he wasn’t in the vicinity of this movie’s Master Emerald altar when he encountered Robotnik, so where was he? What’s his association with the Master Emerald? If it’s guarded and hidden away, and he knows how to access it, what has he been doing otherwise? If he doesn’t need Sonic’s power, but it’s his destiny to destroy him, what does that say about why he’s taking on Sonic? Does he know about his tribe’s actions, such as killing Longclaw or going after Sonic? What does he think of them? Is Angel Island a thing in this universe? What planet, island, or location would he live on otherwise? The same island Sonic grew up on? Will he be able to glide? Cause god I hope not I’d rather it be retconned if they can’t make it look good why even bother HAHA 😭 and then of course you have his charged-up electric-y powers too!

Movie!Knuckles already poses so many questions and new concepts that I welcome with open arms! Heck, there’s some things I could understand maybe not having the time or reason to address (like his gliding...maybe his whole thing with setting off traps n stuff in S3&K too? could be maybe touched on when in the labyrinth ruins but otherwise he’s literally on an unfamiliar location for majority of the film lol), and I’m totally okay with that! For the sake of this movie universe being its own separate thing from all other Sonic media, I genuinely love all the changes brought to the interpretations of these stories through the lense of the new rules, logic, and lore put into place (without it we wouldn’t be getting Sonic/Knuckles warrior family drama which IS SO COOL). I just have enough faith to know that those who work on this know the grounds they’re traversing in terms of which pre-established concepts they can switch up and which they can alter slightly to fit this new world, but not so much that it throws non-fans AND super fans for a loop.

None of this made sense probably and was more needlessly complicated than necessary, but TLDR: I don’t know anyone who’d want Knuckles’ backstory to be changed to what the reddit posts entailed?? honestly if they hit anything but That Stuff i will not complain whatsoever 👍

As for sick Scratch and Grounder:

Grounder is a lot better at roughing it out then people think. Like if grounder gets sick you don’t notice it until it’s like actually effecting him. His hearing always seems to go so when grounder is sick if he has to do missions he prepared to get handed the wrong item. Like a lot. If grounder is allowed to stay at base for a mission when sick Scratch helps mostly just so that Robotnik doesn’t yell at them as much. Yep. That’s all it is. Scratch totally doesn’t care a lot about his little bro-not. But regardless of scratch grounder spends it taking it as easy as he can. Probably watches cartoons a lot waiting for it to pass. On the Complainer scale he’s about a 6/10. So not bad!

Scratch on the other hand broke the scale. If Scratch is sick you will hear about it non stop. Thankfully tho Scratch at least has a active build up period unlike Grounder who just suddenly can’t do snot because he’s sick. Scratch will stubbornly insist he keep working until it gets to the middle of him starting to feel it. After tbat he def takes it easy. Spends a lot of his time sleeping, where grounder will usually try his best to sneak scratch stuff to heal up faster. Grounder cares and isn’t afraid to show it regardless of what some may thing.

But yeah! Never feel bad about sending me multiple asks I love thinking about this stuff!!

Agent Stone Returneth (SIO PT 7)

You sit at your desk, boredly staring at your phone. You had a peaceful weekend, despite the embarrassment you felt by giving Dr. Robotnik the wrong lunch.

He probably thinks I'm so childish and lame.

As you sit with a blush on your cheeks, the front entrance opening breaks the quiet atmosphere.

You look up to see your favorite agent walking in. You give him a big smile and set your phone down. He returns the smile, immediately leaning up against your desk.

"Hey! How are you?", you say excitedly.

"I'm pretty good, I'm actually pretty surprised you're still here. I mean, you're pretty strong considering the week you had to spend alone with the Dr."

"Oh gosh, yeah. It was nice to do nothing over the weekend." You both catch up before he asks specifically how the prior week went.

"It went pretty okay, I think. I mean..I'm still here!", you giggle before biting your lip. Stone looks at you intrigued. "I think the Dr. really likes me."

"Well, that's good...right?"

"Yeah, I just didn't expect him to."

"Eh, who knows."

"It's just...after the power outage he's kinda been more...interested in me?"

"There was a power outage?"

"Yeah, on the first day. We ended up sharing lunch and he let me watch him work and stuff. Actually, I've been bringing him lunch everyday since."

"Woah..." Stone trails off.

"What?"

"Well...I shouldn't say this, but Dr. Robotnik..."afraid" isn't the right word but...he just really dislikes the dark."

"Huh?", you ask extremely confused. The man that can make a grown army man shiver...is afraid of the dark?

"Not afraid! He's just more vulnerable...I don't know. I think it has to do with his bots not working properly so he feels less safe or something. I'm not sure."

"Well, I guess that makes sense...he seemed to enjoy me staying with him."

"What do you mean?"

"Well it was just the two of us-"

"Alone?"

"Yeah. Nothing happened though!"

"Oh?"

"Yeah, I swear! I don't even like him like that! But we just talked and...okay...well..." Stone's eyes are glue to you, completely invested. "We were talking and...I guess there was a little face moving...and we were pretty close to each other...but then the lights came back!"

Stone's eyes widen, a hand going over his mouth. You nervously smile at his expression as you begin to toy with your hair.

"Are you joking?!"

"No..."

"Y/N! You almost ki-"

"Not so loud!"

Stone leans over the desk closer to you.

"You almost kissed Robotnik!", he hisses. You squeal in response, scrunching your eyes closed.

"I know! I know!"

"Did you want to?!" You don't respond, instead look down, away from his eyes. He gasps. "I thought you "didn't like him like that", huh?"

"Ugh...okay, but he's so handsome!", you say as quiet as you can.

"Oooh, handsome!", Stone teases. "If the lights didn't come on, do you think you would've kissed him?"

You lean back and think. You hadn't actually thought about it seriously. In the moment, you were humiliated and scared. In hindsight...you feel disappointed.

"Honestly, I don't think he was trying to kiss me. I mean, I was boosting his ego at the time, and he probably was just interested in what I was saying. Maybe he wanted to hear me better."

"That's not an answer to my question."

"...I don't know if I would've, I mean, Robotnik has all the power, and he had it in the moment. I'm not the type to just go kissing my bosses."

"Sure, okay."

"I swear! It just...happened. Ugh, or it didn't! Maybe I just thought it would!"

"Y/N, if the Dr. were to walk in right now and ask you to kiss him, would you?" You bashfully cover your face with your hands. Stone chuckles at your reaction. As the two of you are distracted, a confused Robotnik walks in.

"Ahem." You both look up and see Robotnik giving you both an unenthused look.

"Hello Dr.!", Stone says.

"Good morning, sir."

"Welcome back, Stone. Now, if you two are done with this foolishness, I would like Agent Stone to make me a latte and you", Dr. Robotnik looks right into your eyes. "I'd like you to come down to my lab immediately. "

You nod and follow behind the Dr. You turn to look at Stone who is holding in a laugh. You mouth to him, "holy shit" and silently giggle.

Once you and the Dr. reach his lab, he stops you before entering.

"Miss L/N, I'd like to show you one of my favorite bots." He opens the door and holds it open for you.

You walk in and wait for him. He waves to you and leads you over to his desk where sits in his chair and turns on his blue holographic screen. He clicks around for a bit before pulling up what looks to be a video.

"You see this?" You nod. "This right here is the feed to my security camera which is connected to the security system. It records all hours of the day, everyday of the year. Helpful, isn't it?"

"Yes sir-"

"Shush", he puts his finger up. "Now, if we rewind a bit..." He clicks on the video and begins to rewind it. He hits play. You realize it's the conversation you just had with Stone. "We can hear some interesting things."

"If the lights didn't come on, do you think you would've kissed him?"

Dr. Robotnik fast forwards a bit.

"Y/N, if the Dr. were to walk in right now and ask you to kiss him, would you?"

Dr. Robotnik pauses the video and turns around to look at you. You're completely humiliated and scared. You don't want to look at him so you just stare at the screen.

"Well, what is the answer to that?"

Life was crazy at the moment your Best friend Tom and this Blue Alien?? Hedgehog?? Got into some trouble. You see there was a huge power outage and everyone was freaking out. And the government decided to send in this Government Wackjob. How did you know all this well let's find out.

You were walking around the small place of Green Hills, it was currently night time and you just wanted some fresh air. Until you got a phone call. It was an unknown number, you sighed and picked up. "Hello?" You said.

"Y/N! OH THANK GOD YOU ANSWERED."

You gasped, it was Tom. Looking around making sure no one was around you. You held your phone and walked somewhere more private.

"Why are you all over the news Tom!" You whispered yelled. "Where are you!"

"Look I don't have that much time to tell. But this Alien Hedgehog thing caused the power outage and the government is after it! But you have to promise not to say anything okay! Please don't say anything to anyone."

You sighed. "Okay Tom, but what are you saying this about this Blue Ali-" You were cut off since someone placed a gloved hand over your mouth. You tried to screaming but couldn't. The person held you close to their body. Snatching your phone away from you.

"Hello there Mr. Wachowski. I have your friend here. I suggest you turn yourself in and turn in that creature you have. Unless you don't want your little friend getting hurt. You have until tomorrow." Then with that the stranger hanged up the phone. Dropping the phone and stepping on it. "We don't want anyone tracking you down sweetheart."

You struggled but he had a strong firm grip on you. You then elbowed him on the stomach. He quickly let go of you. You turned around, fucking asshole ruined your phone.

Looking at him, he was dressed in Black with a strange looking mustache. He looked like that typical men in black. He just held onto his stomach. Trying to catch his breath. You just back away, about to run off until you bumped into someone else.

"Agent Stone grab her."

You began to freak out once again. And this Stone guy quickly grabbed you holding on to you. You struggle. As you you saw the other guy walk towards you. He has a Needle in his hand. He walked towards you.

"SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME."

The Agent who held you placed a hand over your mouth.

"Little brat, you dare hit me." The guy with the mustache said. He then grabbed your head and tilting it to the side. Expsoing your neck he quickly injected you with the Needle. You began getting tried all of the sudden.

"Agent Stone make sure to take her with us. She might be useful in something."

The last thing you herad before your body got limp.

You soon woke up after a few hours, you were on the cold floor. Groaning in pain, your head was dizzy. You looked around and you started to panic again. You didn't know this place! Where were you! You look around your surroundings. You seemed to be the this cage, it had no bars. It just looked like you were in a box, a glass box. It did have holes so you could get air. But you tried remembering what happened. Until you herad the door open of the room, seeing a guy dressed in black walk in. NOW YOU REMEMBER THIS WACKJOB WITH THE MUSTACHE TOOK YOU AWAY! He walked towards your cage.

"Who the hell do you think you are! Let me go!" You began yelling at him, getting up and you walked up to him, he just smirked. Knowing very well you couldn't hurt him or do anything since you were in a cage and he wasn't.

"How rude of me, let me introduce myself. I'm Dr. Ivo Robotnik but you can call me Dr. Robotnik. I work with the government." He said, taking a chair and placing it front of your cell. He took a seat and just smirked at you. "So.. Y/N L/N, did your friend tell you anything?"

You just looked at him, you just sat on the floor with your arms crossed over your chest. "I'm not saying anything to you, you wackjob."

Robotnik just looked you with a smirk, he started to tap his foot on the floor. "If you don't want your friend getting hurt I suggest you start talking missy!"

"Why should I! Tom is my friend! My Best friend, why would I throw a friend under the bus." You hiss at Robotnik. "A friend would never throw a other friend under the bus or leave them behind."

"Hm how interesting, are sure friends never leave one another behind?" He said, chuckling slightly. He stood up and walked closer to the cell, looking down at you. "I don't know I'm pretty sure your friend Tom isn't coming for you."

"You're lying! He's my best friend he would come and help me." You said, your voice cracking a bit.

Robotnik just pulled up a small screen device from his coat pocket, showing you that Tom was on his way to San Francisco and not here. You just looked at it, frowning. "You're still lying you asshole! He's coming! He's a friend! How would you even know you probably don't have anyone or A SINGLE FRIEND!" You yelled out, sobbing while at it.

Robotnik looked down at you, he didn't know why but he felt bad, almost awful seeing you cry. He shook his head. Raising an eyebrow, he just made a face. "You're right I have no friends or anyone since my mother and father decided to give me up when I was born. But who needs them anyways. They tend to let you down just like how Tom did to you."

Robotnik then clicked on a button from his glove and your cell door opened. He walked in the cell, you didn't seem to notice and he just grabbed you picking you up. You started to struggle.

"if you keep on struggling I won't hesitate to bring out that needle from last time, you wouldn't want that right?"

You just huffed, he forcefully sat you down on the chair. "Now be a good little girl and stay put there we are about to have fun." He said with a smirk.

You couldn't help but blush and make a face. He turned around and he was looking at a screen, you looked and saw Tom's car. You just gasped.

He turned around and smirked. You didn't want to anything what's going to happen. But the damn Doctor forced you to look, he would grab your face and make you look at the screen even though you were crying. You had to witness robots being sent to Tom, thankfully whatever was thrown at them was unsuccessfully. You smiled and he just let go of your face.

"Wow they are survivors." Agent Stone said.

Robotnik made a face and looked at you. "I will be back with you in a minute." He said. "And you, we could we have a moment." He said to Stone. And they walked off to the side.

You sighed and zoned out, you ran your hands over your face. You couldn't believe that Robotnik was right, that Tom wasn't coming for you. It really did hurt you, tearing up. You frown, feeling bad for what you said to the Doctor about not having anyone. And his response was really heartbreaking. Everyone deserves a friend right?

Just lay your head on the table, maybe this guy wasn't so bad. Maybe he just needed some kind of friendship. You thought to yourself. Then feeling a hand on your shoulder you jumped and turned around and to see Robotnik.

"Hm I can see you're not crying." He said.

"Why should I huh? You were right he isn't coming for me. I guess helping out an Alien or Hedgehog whatever he said it was is more important." You said. You know you sounded selfish, but come on.

Robotnik wanted to make a sassy and rude comment but he couldn't he didn't know why, was he being all soft? What no way! He just looked at you rolling his eyes. He then put a water bottle and a single apple on the table. "Here. You need some food and water in your system." And with that he was about to walk away.

You spoke up. "Thank you" you said. All you got was a small "Hmm." You look at the water bottle and apple. "And I'm sorry for saying those things about you..of having no friends. I'm sure you're an amazing guy it's just that most people suck." You said.

Robotnik just looked at you, he grinned and walked off.

After a few hours, you ate your Apple and drink your water. You laid your head on the table taking a small nap. You were shooting woken up to music. You tried to ingore it but you just couldn't. As you listened it was one of your favorite songs!! Where Evil Grows!

As you listened, you picked up your head and looked around. Until Robotnik caught your eye, he was dancing to this song. You giggle to yourself, it was cute actually. And you were pretty impressived that The Doctor had great moves. You just kept on staring at him. Until he noticed you looking at him he stopped the music and screamed.

You jumped and quickly looking away. Blushing. Crap crap. "I'm sorry!! I just love that song! And I just got distracted with your dancing." You said quickly.

He just walked up to you. "You actually like my dance moves."

You just nodded, and slowly looking up to him. You just stood up. "Yeah... I've never seen them before. They are unique." You say and look down.

Robotnik couldn't help but smile, he looked at you. Maybe she wasn't so bad he thought to himself. He couldn't help but admire you. "I never knew you were into great music and dance moves." He said, placing a hand on your chin and lifting your head up so you could look at him. "No one has ever complimented me and my dance moves. Everyone just calls me a wack job." He whispered.

"I'm so sorry for saying that, I really am." You whisper. You just placed a hand on his cheek and smile softly. Looking at him, yeah wasn't so bad he's just a lonely guy who needs someone.

You two just stood there, saying nothing. Until you guys looked at each other. You both in started to lean in, your lips got closer. Until you were interrupted.

"Sir! The quill is done!" Agent Stone said. Robotnik turned his head at him giving him 'Don't you see I'm busy here' look. Stone got the message and quickly got out of there. Leaving you two alone. He sighed.

You just smile, then crashing your lips against his. It caught him off surprise. He just stood there until he wrapped his arms around your waist and kissed back. You wrapped your arms around his neck bringing him closer to you. You soon after pulled away for air.

He buried his face into your neck. You giggle slightly. Because his mustache tickled against your skin.

"Something about you catches my interest. So I very appreciate that if we could give us a chance." He said.

You smile and nodded your head. "Yes!" You whisper at him.

He looked at you and gave you a kiss. You giggle between the kiss and he pulled away. "What's so funny?" He said rasing an eyebrow.

"Your mustache tickles." You say.

He smirked and grabbed your hand and placed a small kiss on your hand.

"Don't you have an alien to catch Doc?" You say

Robotnik looked at you giving you a smirk. "Yes I do."

 So, the end of the year is practically upon us, and I wanna ask the question I ask pretty much every year: what are your favorite videogame tracks from this year?

You know me, I’m a big advocate for video game music being just as valid as any other type of music, and most if not all of you I know here also think the same way. So, why don’t we cut to the chase? Let yourself loose and talk about those tracks that made you vibe a lot this year. I’ll leave mine after the break.

Starry Night Act 1 - Sonic Megamix Mania [SHC 2020 Demo]

What can I say? I’m completely in love with this track. You take what’s probably my all-time favorite Sonic track and remix it with a pretty clear Future Funk vibe (fun fact: I used to listen to a lot of FF back in 2015-2018), and what you get is a latin-dr-robotnik in love so hard it feels like my first middle school crush all over again. Megamix Mania is fucking amazing, and this track is just in another level.

City Outskirts Act 1 - Sonic Megamix Mania [SHC 2020 Demo]

Okay, this is another remix from the OG Megamix 5.0, but what I said the first time I heard it still stands: this mod is trying to out-mania Mania, and it’s succeeding at that. Listen to that funky beat, that loud bass... it’s nuts.

vs. 1010 (EDM Version) - No Straight Roads

You might know I’ve been following Funk Fiction since the Sonic Before the Sequel days (2011/12), and I simply cannot get enough of his style. He did kick off this year carrying a banger of a remix in the form of Sun’s Song from December last year, and then an amazing remix of K.K. Cruisin’ with none other than the man Lopes himself. But his work on NSR has been nothing short of incredible. Around my birthday I used to listen to a lot of vs. DJ Subatomic Supernova, but since I learned the existance of this remix I literally dropped everything else. You could interchange this mention with the base version from James Landino (I also follow him since the BTS days), but this version speaks personally to me as a Funk Fiction fan. NSR has a top tier OST, though, so don’t sleep on it.

vs. SAYU (Base Version) - No Straight Roads

If you haven’t listened to this but you follow my work, then you might find a lyric or two familiar. James always had a particular style that made him stand up quite a bit after the Sonic BTS/ATS days, and for a couple of years now he started doing some vocal tracks with Nikki for Cytus II that in my opinion were simply amazing. Then 2020 came along and the duo suddenly drop this song, this fucking song. 

I remember reading the song title, reading James and Nikki’s names and then thinking “yeah I know what this gonna be like”, and I wasn’t wrong at all. It’s everything great with Bullet Waiting For Me times ten. It’s cute, it’s catchy, it’s the culmination of years of their work together. It deserves to be so massively popular.

Main Theme - Streets of Rage 4

Before NSR and before Mania Megamix, Streets of Rage 4 was the biggest candidate for OST of the year to me. Don’t get me wrong, I actually voted for this game on the Steam awards (Since NSR won’t be on Steam till next year.)

SOR 4 is a return to form in every single way: great gameplay, a fun little story featuring most of the characters we know and love, and the triumphant return of Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima as composers (among many others, though!) This main theme tells you everything you need to know: the 90s never ended, just took a small 26 year break before coming back strong as ever. This is such a beastly song. Yuzo Koshiro is still a legend among VGM composers.

Rising Up - Streets of Rage 4

Lead composer Olivier Deriviere had his work cut out for him: he had to compose for the return of a series whose last entry was 26 years ago, and do it also with the tall shadow of Yuzo Koshiro linging over him. But he did it, he knocked it out of the park.

Y Tower is your typical tower gauntlet you know and love from SOR. This is a long, tough level that will take you from ground level to the top, and surviving this gauntlet was made a lot better thanks to this absolute masterpiece of a track. During the final elevator section the synthwave kicks in, and my goodness it feels so fucking good, every single time.

The Commissioner - Streets of Rage 4

This is quite the underrated gem, just take a listen to that nasty, NASTY bassline, or them punchy drums. The second half of this song kicks harder than a mule.

Good Riddance (Eurydice Solo) - Hades

Y’know, Hades is my pick for Game of the Year 2020, and this music certainly lives up to expectations. Think about it, you’re fighting your way room by room at a frantic pace, just to arrive to a small chill checkpoint with Eurydice singing this piece. It’s so soothing, so beautiful. Of course certain things change later on, but I won’t say anything...

The Painful Way - Hades

There’s something I love about most tracks in Hades, and it’s the fact that these songs start pretty chill, pretty Greek-like, but then at certain moments they tap into their inner DOOM and suddenly they turn into massive rock bangers. This track and Scourge of Furies are some of my favorite examples. Rip and tear until--oh, you’re dead already, well... try again then!

Final Fall - Fall Guys

Hey, Fall Guys is still a great time. Y’all just left it for Among Us but ya boi is still kicking everyone’s ass at Hex-a-gone on a weekly basis. That’s what happens when you let a big platformer fan play on a competitive game about platforming your way to victory. :P

This track has a wicked bassline and it’s full of adrenaline for the final rounds. What else can I say.

Sonsal Celebration Year 2, Day 7

On the seventh day of the Sonsal celebration hosted by @boundforfreedomsonsal we have the prompt of peace. Something I’m sure many of us would have loved to have seen the Freedom Fighters get to enjoy when their respective series came to an end. Sadly the screw-ups of Archie Comics, Ken Penders well being Ken Penders, and a little of Sega’s own mishandling caused us to never truly see Sonic, Sally and Co. have their day of peace canonically. Luckily we fans can fix that.

PEACE: 

“...It brings me great pleasure to formally announce the end of the war started by Julian Kintobar, aka Dr. Robotnik, and perpetuated by his counterpart Dr. Eggman. Any and all allies of the two Empires created by these evil men have also been dealt with, leaving no one seeking to resume their mantle. Not only has this long, and difficult conflict finally over-.” Pausing in her speech, Sally took a lungful of air, but her smile never waned, as she also purposefully dragged out the pause to reign in the audience more. “All the nations of Mobius, be they any species of Mobians, or Humans have signed a hopefully lasting peace accord to not only end any potential future conflict but bring all the peoples’ of Mobius together as they never have before.” Despite prepping herself to keep her emotions in check, Sally found her eyes moisten but she kept a straight face, save for the smile widely forming as she couldn’t hide her joy. “We don’t have to live in fear anymore, and our world is truly free from tyranny. Everyone gathered here or not, thank you for your contributions. Now… LET’S CELEBRATE WE ALL EARNED IT!!”

At Sally’s last words, the crowds gathered before the stage in front of Castle Acorn hollered and cheered. After ten-plus years of living in fear of an evil scientist and his armies; the planet Mobius was free at last. Watching her people be happy made Sally’s heart glow with a warmth she didn’t know she needed. Bowing her head she turns from the podium and walks over to where her friends waited for her; especially a certain Hedgehog with a matching wedding band on his finger just like hers. As she wiped her eyes Sonic took a few steps to meet the distance, instantly his arms were around her for a hug and their lips met for a quick, but sweet and loving kiss.

Once it broke, her dear childhood friend, lover, and husband all rolled-into-one flashed one of his well-known grins. “Way past speech Sal.” “I started to nearly cry at the end.” She giggled, rubbing her eyes some more. “You’d think after all my practice I could have nailed it better.”

A familiar hand rested on Sally’s shoulder, with a soft southern drawl reaching her ears. “Aw heck Sally-girl, so you started to mist a little. Nobody will blame ya’ I mean fer’ Pete’s sake you did just announce the end to a nearly thirteen-year war we’ve been fighting since we were kids.”

Bunnie’s husband, Antoine moving to stand beside his wife, and as always holding her hand, gave a nod with his own smile. “Oui, as my dear beloved put it, no one would be zee upset at you being over the joy with the war’s end.”

Moving over a young two-tailed fox wrapped his arms around Sally’s waist, giving a squeeze before looking up so his gaze could meet Sally’s. A smirk mirroring Sonic’s adorning his face. “I think what we’re getting at Sally is, you did great, so don’t think you messed up the speech for getting misty-eyed.”

With a loud, merry chuckle Rotor merely crossed his arms as he walked closer himself, the old gang gathering once again. “I think I’m going to have to stand by the others in saying you did great Sally. Personally, even after my stint as a council member, I’d have choked up half-way through that.”

Unable to help herself, Sally giggled, enjoying the banter as she looked at her husband and friends with a playful smirk. “What is this, pick on Sally after her speech day?”

As if on cue, Nicole materialized from a nearby emitter, and reached over to pet Sally’s head. “Maaaaybe, we all just love you and wish you still are too hard on yourself. Your speech was lovely, to the point, but also if I may add, the start of the tears I think helped the audience accept this was ‘finally’ over.”

Looking at the faces of her dearest friends, Sally internally acknowledged they were right, and simply held her arms out. “Freedom Fighters… one last group hug? As a team?”

Without a word, the band of friends all formed a group hug with Sally at the center. A multitude of emotions coursing through each of them as their bond as friends and Freedom Fighters held them together and steered the course of their lives as much as the war that forced them to grow up so fast. One by one, not an eye was dry as happy tears began to leak from everyone and their mutual holding of one another tightened but never enough to cut off oxygen.

“D-do you think now that the fighting’s over we won’t see each other much anymore?” Murmured Tails in a soft voice as the thought crossed his mind. It was one that briefly flared when they first thought they won after Robotniks’ defeat. Of course, now things were so different than it was back then. He had his parents whom he was still making up for lost time with. Rotor still had family in the Tundra waiting for him. Sonic, Sally, Bunnie, and Antoine were married and could now start their own lives. Nicole was probably gonna be busy since she now had a bio-nanite living body and could have her own life beyond the administrator of the city and the nanite colony.

Reaching over, Sonic ruffled the head-fur of the fox he deemed his little brother affectionately. “Heck to the no there li’ bro. We all might do our own things for a bit but we ain’t gonna just treat the other like strangers.” Eye twinkling he eased from the group hug to wrap his arms around Tails and give him an affectionate noggie. “Plus don’t forget you’re big brother to Manik and Sonia. That means you’ll see us plenty since Sal and I are also on tap babysitters from time to time like you are.”

This seemed to assure the fox while smiled and wiped his eyes, his expression much cheerier now. “Heh, good point, us big brothers gotta help teach the li’ sibs right?”

“That’s the spirit!”

Giggling, Bunnie smiled at the scene of brotherly love and looked over to Antoine, a crafty, yet loving gaze sent his way. “Now that we know no boogie-man is gonna pop outta th’ ground. I’m all for enacting our plans for extended second-honeymoon Sugah-Twan.”

At the mention of this idea, the coyotes’ eyes twinkled as he held up his wife’s hand and kissed her knuckles. “Oui, oui  my love, I am how do you say..? ‘All-in’ on this idea.”

The rabbit’s own eyes sparkle with love and plans, lots of future plans. “Maybe we could start planning for our own li’ brood?” When her husband’s only response was to blush but nod his head vigorously, Bunnie laughed and leaned in to kiss him. “I love you, ya’ you big sweetie!”

“Going for kids already?” Inquired Rotor with a raised eyebrow, and a smile.

“We’ve been discussing it a lot, and frankly being a Mom is something I wanna be, so why not?” Bunnie giggles, her cheeks flushed as she rubbed her belly longingly. “I got all mah parts flesh again, and we don’t gotta fight, so dreams and rest of our lives here I come!”

“Speaking of extended honeymoon’s…” Sally walks over and hugs Sonic from behind. “That sounds like a wonderful idea.”

Nodding, Sonic rested his hands over hers around his waist. “Yeah, we didn’t exactly get to have one. Just a long weekend to ourselves.” Rubbing his chin, Sonic began to ponder on where they could go. With the planet free now, sans any areas in need of rebuilding the sky was the limit.

Then a thought hit him, with a grin he urges Sally to follow him. The two make their way over to another group of friends who were like they had been, celebrating. “Yo Knux’!”

Hearing his nickname, Knuckles the Echidna looked away from the discussion he was having with Vector and Julie-Su. Spying the Hedgehog and Squirrel-munk coming his way. “What’s up Sonic?”

“Can Sal and I borrow your island for our proper honeymoon?”

“Excuse me?” His spines bristled mostly on reflex to anyone mentioning doing, well anything with his island.

Knowing how easy it was for Sonic to antagonize Knuckles without trying, Sally interjected. “What he means Knuckles, is could we visit Angel Island and just… have our honeymoon there? We’d stay out of the way, we’ve just never, been there without some crisis going on. All the different biomes and vistas just scream to be explored and enjoyed.”

“Plus given it flies over the planet the views off the edge are gorgeous.” Quipped Sonic, who now clapped his hands together and bowed his head humbly. “C’mon Knux it’s the perfect place for newlyweds to get lost and have a good time.”

Covering her mouth, Julie-Su snickered. “Oh, you bet it is.”

Picking up on this, Sally smirked widely. “Oh? Maybe you can give us some tips?”

Running with the topic, Julie kept on still smirking widely if her cheeks were now a bit pinker. “Well, not per se Knuckles and I’s make out spots but I can recommend some. Although one mutual spot I must, ‘must’ recommend is this tiny waterfall that has a small spot where an overhanging rock creates this gap big enough for two people to stand inside without being constantly pelted with water. Hmmm..” Her cheeks brightened and her body fidgeted with the memory. “Nothing like standing under the falls with your man behind you, wailing-.” Putting a hand over his ears, Vector turned away, loudly and in a very grumble-y voice chanted. “La-la-la-la I can’t hear youuuu!”

“Walkers alive Julie!” Knuckles exclaimed his muzzle beat red as he gently grasped his girlfriend by the arm. “I don’t think anyone needs to know those details!”

Both Sally and Sonic snicker, and yet also mentally filed away this idea and would get the exact location from Julie later. Refocusing, Sonic reached over to pat Knuckles on the shoulder. “So joking aside, whaddya say Knux? It’s your call but it’d be a way-past cool favor. You know we won’t disturb anything nor go where we shouldn’t.”

“Please? We’ll owe you and Julie.” Sally added, trying to sweeten the deal with the cute-eyes routine and a pouty lip.

After just staring at the two with his usual impassive expression, Knuckles let out a long sigh but then smiled. “What the heck, sure. Consider it a done favor anyway since you guys helped bail me and the island out a number of times-OW!” At a sudden pinch, he looked at Julie. “What was that for?”

“They were gonna owe us a solid and you dismissed it? Knuckles, honey, my one and only…” She cups his face, and pinches his cheeks. “You always accept being owed a favor back! Think about the possibilities!”

“Ow, ow, ow sorry!”

Laughing, Sonic waved a hand. “Consider the favor still on, and thanks a million!” He insisted, figuring he should offer if to help Knuckles out of his situation with Julie in thanks for letting them stay on Angel Island.

“You won’t even know we’re there! Promise!” Sally quipped, giving both Echidnas a hug. “Thank you so much!”

Rubbing his nose, Sonic couldn’t help but smile as he looked around at his friends and the gathered crowds all celebrating. It took a long time, and probably more sacrifices than he would have liked, but finally, they had peace.

He closed his eyes, saying a silent prayer to the fallen, those he knew and those he didn’t. He wasn’t a religious sort but the departed were owed respect. He hoped they could rest easier now, just as those still alive could now truly live their lives to the fullest.
