Miraculous Adventurer Au 2: Electric Boogaloo!

Hi again, it's me! So, quick story time! I was looking through my notes the other day and found a few more things for this Au. I completely forgot I never followed up on it, so here we goooooooooo!

Nah I'm kidding, context/recap first. This Au takes place in Fantasy Anime France, which is Medieval France...but better! Basically just a Medieval Au with adventurers guilds and monsters! Typical RPG shenanigans! Gabriel and Emilie are king and queen (she's alive by the way and Gabriel is more like Hesperia than Hawkmoth. Good guy.), with Adrien as their son. Amelie and Felix also exist in Lunden (London) which is obviously in England. Important note is that this setting isn't tied down to a specific century, I just wanted the vibes. We have vampires, syrens and mages anyway, realism was never a priority. Now...it just so happens that Prince Adrien and Princess Kagami (of an as-of-yet-undecided) eastern kingdom are married. Just follow me on this.

In terms of a recap: Marinette wants to go to the Capital (Paris) to attend a prestigious fashion academy, or at least to try and get in/get a fashion-related job. On her way she decides she needs more money for her trip, and picks up adventuring. Now...it just so happens that she meets a handsome "pro" at the job, named Chat Noir. So naturally, she doesn't give this guy her name yet, because he's a stranger. Marinette's first job is pretty simple. Pick up a sword, whack a couple wolves over the head because they haven't been letting an herblist go into the nearby forest, get paid. Unfortunately, the resident rogue in black leather decides to follow the pretty girl around. Low and behold, they end up fighting the few wolves side by side and turns out they make a pretty good team! Marinette doesn't exactly know how to swordfight anyway, she was basically bashing the wolves with the flat side of her sword.

And so begins the amazing partnership that will surely drive this poor girl insane! And because it just so happens that a ladybug lands on Marinette's face as they leave the battlefield, Chat of course has a new name for her. Ladybug the Scarlet Adventurer is born! And...it just so happens that the herbalist I mentioned last paragraph is named Alya. She is, in fact, a witch. Well...kind of. She specializes in illusion magic, which is completely useless for helping around her village in day to day work. So she got a part time job as a herblist to get some experience. And after being saved by Ladybug (as well as some heroic bragging from Chat Noir), they have their first fan! Back to the adventurer's guild they go, where Chat insists she keep all the money from the job, and urges Marinette to work with him again. He walks away, not giving her a chance to refuse, leaving her a little flabbergasted. I'm sure that won't be important later...

Now...do you all remember how I said that Prince Adrien and Kagami are married? And clearly, Adrien is also Chat Noir? So how can he be in two places at once? Why, Felix of course! Amelie and her son were visiting for the wedding preparations, which lasted a good few weeks, and he got to know Kagami pretty well. Naturally, they fell in love, especially since while she likes Adrien, Kagami isn't in love with him. So...with a bit of help from Amelie, they pulled the swicharoo! Adrien wanted freedom and to explore the country anyway, so why not let Felix (who clearly likes administrative stuff) take over and also marry the girl he loves? Therefore, Adrien Agreste has to hide his identity as the Prince of Paris, and I'm sure that won't be important later...

About Alya, she goes back to her village after getting saved by Ladynoir...and naturally, she decides to also take up adventuring because they've inspired her! What good is she doing wasting away in a small town anyway, when she could be traveling the world and exploring new places? Of course, she drags her boyfriend Nino into this mess almost immediately, since he happens to be a Bard. A DnD-style bard, where music is also (kinda) magic. He would have been perfectly happy to be a local celebrity in a small town if it meant staying with the girl he loves, but hey! If Alya wants adventure, consider him on board! Is it any wonder then that these two duos end up meeting eventually? Ladynoir has gone on a few more jobs, and they're slowly getting the hang of working together and beating up wolves, small smiles and the occasional bandit. So when they suddenly bump into DjWifi a few weeks later, and with a real chance to talk once Nino encourages Alya to push down her hero worship, Marinette and Alya hit it off and become good friends! Adrien is also really happy to have a friendly guy who treats him like a normal person, instead of "your highness" this and "my prince" that. Naturally, they all team up in a party of four! And so, the adventures continue!

I have waaaaay more to say about this Au, for example Max being a genius artificer, Kim being a sailor boy who falls in love with the pretty mermaid Ondine, Luka the travelling bard (and Marinette's ex), Juleka who is nursing a wounded (mermaid) Rose back to health on the Liberty (and also got bit by a vampire recently), and Chloe asking for the famous Ladybug and her team to go on a job for her. So yeah, the Adventurer AU is still alive and kicking! I'll be back with more details, but in the meantime feel free to AMA if you want! Anon asks are on! Chat: No! It's always been you, it's been you with the other heros, it's been you coming up with plans..finding out about Fu, finding out all these upgrades to our miraculous!

Chat: We aren't a team! We probably were never a team! It's always you, and I was just..your sidekick.

Ladybug: Wha..? Chat you aren't-!

Chat: Save it! We..aren't partners and we haven't been for a long time..I'm done.

Ladybug: A..are you giving up your miraculous?

Chat: No..not this time..I don't think I trust you with it either.

So there's lots of talk about how Felix named himself Argos, which obviously is a reference to the Thousand Eyed Giant who was slain by Hermes and turned into either a peacock's tail or a peacock itself.

But can we PLEASE talk about Argos, Odysseus' loyal dog, and the implications regarding the myth???

Theory: Chat Noir will go rogue after, erm, the cat gets out of the bag about his father.

I don't think Adrien will become a full on villain like his father but rather akumatized thanks to Lila revealing who Gabriel really was and Ladybug learning his identity in the process. Adrien keeps the Miraculous because he's still a hero at heart but goes it on his own in his heartbreak.

And to add to this deliciously dramatic irony? Adrien finds solace in Marinette who knows he's Chat Noir but can't say it lest she risks leaking this info under influence of an Akuma. It's one thing if Lila gets one of their Miraculous but both?

Think how Spider Man 2 had Harry Osborne hold it against Spider Man for his father's death while being besties with Peter Parker.

I see this as a season long arc. Say... Season 7 is when Adrien starts asking questions and becomes evilized in the finale. Season 8 deals with the superhero break-up with Marinette trying to fix it both as her and Ladybug. And it would be an interesting way to show Su-han's fear come to pass about Plagg's holder going rogue.

And the resolution will be bundled with Ladybug revealing herself as Marinette to Chat Noir.

Zoé Lee never really wanted to leave New York. She's half Parisian, but she's also half New Yorker, and she's lived there since she could remember. But sometimes something happens--something SO bad-- that running is the only choice you have.

Being the daughter of Audrey Bourgeois, THE Queen of Fashion, isn't easy. Not when you're a living, breathing chip in her diamond studded belt. And being Chloé's half sister is even harder.

So when Ladybug offers her the deal of a lifetime-- to have real, actual superpowers-- she finds she can't refuse. Not when it means being free from her family, free from her trauma, and finally have a bit of FUN.

But with freedom comes a price.

The powers are temporary. She's supposed to give them back.

Well. Ladybug can pry them from her black and yellow hands.

Because to keep her freedom, this wasp is prepared to sting.

Part Two

Ladybug: Zoé Lee, will you be the holder of the bee miraculous?

Idk why Zag insist on torturing me by still putting Queen Bee in all their promotions. We all know Chloe is never gonna get a redemption now, so I can only think this is pure laziness by reusing existing artwork. 😩

I guess if they stuck Vesperia there instead you’d have a lot of people scratching their heads saying “Who the heck is THAT?!”…. 🤔

…A bit like their reaction to the characters to the left and right in Zag’s other ‘hit’ shows. :p 🤣😇

Attention ML fanfic writers

Regardless of whether or not you give Chloe a redemption arc in your fanfics, Chloe should always among the characters who raises their hands when someone asks for ideas, only for Chloe to be among the people who has to put their hand back down when the idea-asker specifies "that DON'T involve murder."

Scenario 1- AU where Chloe gets an actual redemption arc and remains Queen Bee

Ladybug: in light of Rena Rogue's research suggesting Hawk Moth may be Gabriel Agreste, do any of you have any ideas on how to go about investigating this theory or reclaiming the butterfly and peacock miraculous in the event of the theory turning out to be true?

(half of the team, including Queen Bee raises their hand)

Ladybug: ...that DON'T involve murder?

(Queen Bee, Ryuko, Carapace, and Purple Tigress putting their hands bacck down)

Scenario 2- AU where in season 5, instead of melting all of the stolen miraculi into rings that transfer power to akuma, Gabriel instead hands otu the stolen miraculi is lackeys, including Chloe, who assists the various akumas.

Mr. Pigeon: thank you all so much for coming to assist me. Unfortunately, one can only be akumatized so many time before running out of fresh ideas. DO any of you have any suggestions regarding how to give Paris to the pigeon or taking Ladybug and Chat Noir's miraculous?

(Turtle!Chloe, Goat!Lila, and Rooster!Bob Roth all raise their hands)

Mr. Pigeon: that DON'T involve murder?

(Turtle!Chloe and Goat!Lila both put their hands back down)

Mr. Pigeon: Nevermind. I'll just have the pigeons take the Effiel Tower into space again. Third time's the charm.

Scenario 3

Bustier: Do any of you have an idea for what to do for the fundraiser?

Bustier: that DON'T involve murder?

Bustier: and people wonder why my canon self decided to switch over to politics.

Okay so I think it's time for another spaghetti theory:

Lilamoth isn't collecting moms. She's collecting sisters (or siblings)

Let me explain my thought process here. So a big complaint the fandom has is that we don't have a proper rogue gallery for villains. It's just the butterfly, and nothing else. It worked for early seasons, but things might be getting stale for some folks.

Enter new characters connected to Lilamoth somehow.

So she has 3 moms so far (that we know about.) All but one have something in common: dark hair and blue eyes.

From left to right we have Mrs. Rossi (red), Mrs. Bianca (white), and her third mother who is deaf could possibly be Mrs. Verdi (green).

Then we have this fourth lady that we see Lilamoth watching on her phone in the season 5 finale. I would NOT be surprised if Odille is going to be her 4th mom. Dark hair and blue eyes, and she is also disabled, just like her third mom.

(And I would not be surprised if we find out her surname is Nero (black), or Viola (violet). More on that aspect of this crack theory in a bit...)

Anyway, back to the concept of a rogues gallery. In the finale we see Lila in a disguise that 's VERY reminiscent of one of her moms:

Certainly she can't expect to disguise herself as a woman in her 30's-40's, and especially not with glasses and bangs. But she can pass reasonably as a teenage girl with a dark bob and glasses. You know, a sister.

So we know a certain main character whose name is in the title and wears red with black polkadots has dark hair and blue eyes. We don't know Lilamoth's motivations and and end goal, but we can surmise that she wants to take the place of Marinette.

(And I KNOW I've seen at least one other person theorize this, and I cannot find the post(s) so if you can find it please let me know so I can link it here!)

The pictures we see is one of Marinette with her classmates on the Liberty where Zoe is accepted in the friend group, Marinette with her parents, 3 pictures of Marinette with Kagami, and one picture of Marinette with Luka.

It's interesting to note that there isn't a picture of Marinette and Adrien together shown to the audience. You'd think they'd emphasize that, but no, it's mostly Kagami. I know it's because it's because the episode focuses on Kagami, but still. Other than her, it's just Marinette's parents, Zoe and Luka (Luka! Marinette's ex!) showcased in the closeup screenshot.

I got sidetracked! Anyway, I think other than similar coloring (and color-themed surnames haha) Lilamoth is trying to find other teenagers who are willing to join forces with her. She probably will get her hands on some Miraculous for them, somehow. But I don't think the new jewels will be from the Chinese box.

Here's where things start REALLY going off the rails with this theory:

All of Lilamoth's rogue gallery of villains are her adopted sisters (or siblings) and they are all Luka's exes. He's got a type for Italians with dark hair and blue eyes...

Going back to the surnames, all the surnames have something in common: they share the colors of all of Adrien's various transformations over the course of the series so far:

Rossi: Mister Bug

Bianca: Chat Blanc

Verdi: Aspik

We're just missing Chat Noir (could possibly will be the surname Nero, as it's Italian)

and Ephemeral (it's interesting to note that the surname Lee in Chinese can mean plum, which of course, is purple)

So naturally, my crack theory circles back to Lukadrien is endgame.

I will NOT be surprised if this girl with black hair in an extremely recognizable style is a disguise of another sister.

Is Lilamoth collecting blackmail to manipulate them later? She's very obviously walking disguised in areas where there would be lots of cameras (The inside of the Agreste mansion, and the hotel).

Now we know the synopsis of the London Special, I believe the disguises are to hide Lilamoth's tracks because she knows Maribug's identity. Bonus points if these girls were previous Ladybugs in past time lines that Lilamoth stole the identities of...

I think I found the names of the previous Ladybugs: Marina, Shone, and Mio. (Please enjoy a silly extremely rough draft of where I'd personally go with the show)

As for the rest of the spray paint on the walls, this mural is an actual feature of the Paris Catacombs:

And while I think that most of the other tags on the wall are functionally meaningless and just there for ambiance, I do find the 777-777 tag to be of note. 7 Ladybugs till Lilamoth's goal? What's the deal with the arrows and the floating away 3 7's? Are 3 already "gone"??? Fascinating stuff! My mind is reeling!
