It is rather simple - the one that fits to your Rogue Trader 😉

For my Venria it depends - if I go with the ending slides from the game I would say the Master of Whispers ending with merciful Heinrix. Important here is that there is no mentioning in the ending slides that Heinrix gets indeed assassinated by his former colleagues. Otherwise I think I would not have it as my preferred ending because that would be too heart breaking.

I like with the Master of Whispers ending that Heinrix and RT can stay together, seeing each other every day.

Sorry - I know what I am going to write will some people make feel like they want to throw up - I apologize, but this is my head canon (and yes, I am totally aware that I don't really belong in the Warhammer fandom with my happy non grim dark thoughts):

For him and Venria I don't see it as toxic relationship - they are partners, they support each other and in my head canon Venria will also try to find possibilities to make Heinrix less dependent on her. They trust each other and Venria is also not the type to flirt with other men so I don't see any jealousy drama there for them too. Sounds pretty boring, I know, but for me that is just a healthy relationship that I think they can have - that also helps them heal from all the trauma they had to endure.

While duty is important for Heinrix, he can also do good and help the Expanse and the Imperium by staying with Venria. And seeing how he himself tells RT how staying with the Inquisition leads "to one place only" and we see how Emelina and he nearly too falls to chaos, I rather have him not staying with the Inquisition (at least without RT to have his back).

For me as MoW he would also not interrogate any longer people - he doesn't have to any longer and I don't think he enjoys it personally (aside from xenos, apparently - I wonder if something happened before that made him so hateful towards them or if it is just the dogmatic brainwashing especially since he is from Ordo Xenos).

The LI ending where he stays in the Inquisition is also quite nice - but since the ending implies they keep that long distance relationship up until they die - I am not a fan of that. Temporarily fine but not forever.

What I also like a lot is the prospect of RT joining Heinrix in the Inquisition - although then no longer being a Rogue Trader. But Heinrix (maybe as "simple" Inquisitor) with Venria together on missions with a smaller retinue sounds awesome to me. They can both keep each other in check (or fall both to chaos - that would be the more darker turn) and protect each other while staying together. Sadly, we don't really have much for this on the ending slides - just that RT can join the Inquisition (and Heinrix then acting like a dick).

Had an absolute fantastic 40K night. Played about 6 hours of Rogue Trader, and my party finished up the end of their first adventure, did some downtime scenes, and a got a good chunk into the second adventure. They just hit Rank 2 on their level tree, and are feeling pretty tough. I think that means it’s time for them to face something a bit nastier than Orks and zombies. :)

After that, one of the party members decided he wanted to give 40K a try for the very first time. So, I broke out my old orks and he played Space Marines in a nice little 500 point game! It went great, he had a blast, and he’s already talking about trying Age of Sigmar next.

Venria sees in Heinrix how her own life could have been, if she had managed to hide her empathy away, to become more hardened and ruthless and is disturbed by this reflection of herself.

Heinrix sees in Venria how his life could have been, a softer Heinrix who would not have made it to Interrogator and is intrigued and a bit wistful.

Yeah, a buddy of mine and I bounced off each other so hard over this game, we accidentally created a whole TTRPG campaign.

Basically Heinrix got dumped by the RT for Jae, which shattered him into a million pieces. In addition, he caught the blame for Calcazar's insane schemes, being the only one of the retinue still alive and the Inquisition sent him back to the wild west of the Koronus Expanse as a punishmen with the nominal goal of cleaning it up. And it's up to the party as his acolytes to save him from his worst impulses or pitch him into puritanical fire.

Naturally, I created Selene Orsellio, Cassia's cousin a softie iconoclast with a similar power to her novator who has the personality of an Oriental Short-hair, curious, outgoing and unable to be alone for significant periods of time. Because it's my job, no matter the setting to break this man with the power of empathy.

creating a rogue trader OC because you're playing rogue trader is completely reasonable because it's an rpg. but once you start thinking about creating ocs in that universe whom are not rogue traders that's when you gotta watch out because that is literally just Being a fan of warhammer

Introducing, Heinrix van Calox

Our Rogue Trader party has been made in-full tonight! We have:

@depraved-perfumer as the Rogue Trader, who ended up starting with 30 insanity with her life path choices. Wonderful! The character himself is obsessed with looking as cool as possible and living up to a the shadow of a Warrant of Trade nearly as old as the Imperium itself.

A Kroot who has selected the stealth-Kroot morph, making this thing a highly stealthy bird-man with a 80 strength (with that unnatural strength x2) Fella thinks Void Kraken may be good for eating, and may find out that this is a bad idea.

Our master helmsman is a little freak from Cadia, who has been haunted by dreams of the Eye for as long as she can remember. A flagellant with Frenzy, and a funny corruption Malignancy that makes her black out with the GM controlling what she does during the duration of it.

A Navigator who plans to bite off more than she can chew, making an enemy of one of the most powerful Rogue Traders in the expanse. She’s all about duty to her role, but will do everything she can to get revenge.

A archeotechnologist explorator with a ridiculous amount of peer talents starting out. Won’t be the deadliest in combat starting out, but who cares when you got cybernetics and connections?

Last but not least, we have a Seneschal first-officer that is an unsanctioned Psyker. While he does have that going on, he is sort of the solid rock of sanity who will have to do his best to deal with his rowdy fellow bridge crew.

Overall, stoked to get playing and roll some dice. I’m running a highly modified version of the Forsaken Bounty demo-adventure, altered to fit the backstory of the Rogue Trader and add a lot more omph to the little narrative. Should be a great time, and once it’s over, I’m opening up the entirety of the Kornous Expanse and Calixis sector to them to do as they will.
