Lestat will take Claudia out to kill people and stop outside the door of the Rue Royale house to go "remember, this spree is our little secret, if your dad asks we only got one dress (murder but also dress)". Lestat sees Claudia grow up and sees himself in her. Claudia grows up and realises that to Louis she is still daddy's little girl.

honestly when i tried to figure out why some fans are so mad at ivypool these days i was looking through avos and. the scene where ivypool apologises to twigpaw for not supporting sending a patrol for skyclan is genuinely very sweet??
i actually saw someone characterize this as "ivypool forcing twigpaw to forgive her". is it crack you smoke. is that what you smoke. you smoke crack?

I think we gotta start recognizing that "things accepted online/in leftist spaces" and "things accepted by the general public in the real world" are two very different things. like no actually gnc men are Not suddenly seen as okay because there are drag queens on tiktok. men are still beaten and harassed and ostracized and Killed for being feminine. in the us. in my very liberal city full of ppl with blue hair and pronouns I am made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome for being a gnc guy. the tiktok comments on videos of men wearing make up are not indicative of the beliefs of most people

It's crucial to me that people understand that, while she is very good at what she does (seduction, entertaining at parties, getting both in and out of trouble, etc) Florence is also, fundamentally, weird and kind of a loser

#random personal stuff#the search for a new library director goes on#right now our only applicants (as far as I know) are:#A) man with uncanny similarity to That Man in appearance speech and mannerisms and who has already acted shady#B) woman with a teaching background who just started working on her library degree (a position requirement)#and C) one of our current librarians who lacks the necessary people and technology skills and has a p o l i t i c a l agenda#so you see the difficult position the hiring committee is in#I'm not on this committee of course#but as someone who would have to work under whoever they chose I have concerns#I could not work for someone who was like That Man - wouldn't be able to trust him and would be constantly on edge#(even if he somehow turned out to be just fine despite the bad signs - I would have a hard time shaking those associations)#and I couldn't work for my current co-worker either#we've already got a clique here with him and another guy and his being in charge would just further enable existing problems#and there would be nothing I could do about it - it would be the two of them running things to suit themselves#and we need someone with a library degree because it's important to the role and apparently it's also been made clear#that certain people who do have such degrees wouldn't respect anyone who didn't yet#but to be frank if these were the only options I would rather have the person with the degree in progress#who reportedly seems to have the better leadership skills#the lack of a degree is something that can change with time#but personal qualities are more fixed#& as important as a library degree is I have seen that it doesn't necessarily make one able to make the best decisions for a library

It’s always so funny to me when someone can’t tell the difference between an actor who’s over the top and an actor who is doing an intentionally over the top performance. The former can be super aggravating, I get it—but the latter can be so goddamn effective. Especially when you know the actor already, know they’re fully capable of giving normal human facial expressions and chill line deliveries. And they’re out here doing The Absolute Most all of a sudden? It’s for a reason, dude. It’s almost always for a reason. And once you can see past the camp on the surface, it’s so much fun digging in to what emotions the character is actually hiding.
#this is mainly about servant (and to a lesser degree YJ)#like Ambrose in servant is (pardon me) serving SUCH a chaotic performance#but having known her for decades I know full well that’s on purpose#Dorothy is over the top because she HAS to be. because she’s built walls so high around her own grief that the denial comes out in Crazy#and she fully thinks she’s the only one paying attention. the only sane one in the room.#you get glimpses of her being ‘normal’ in flashbacks#still a little Much. still a product of wealth and expectation. detached from reality to a degree.#but the character she becomes after the tragedy is. A Character.#it’s not the woman she was before. she bricked that woman up. she’s taken her performance from television and made a baby blanket out of it#it’s so. so intentional.#and you sort of get a similar thing going with Hewson in early eps of YJ#totally different starting block. Van doesn’t start out traumatized. but she does start out Big#she’s loud she’s silly she’s being intentionally wacky to get laughs out of people#and some of it comes off a little cringe. because it’s a kid playing a role#this is how you like me. I’m gay. I’m butch. I’m hiding.#if I’m a jester you’ll see what I want you to and nothing more. that’s the plan. it’s working. don’t look at the goalie.#not as a person.#but as the show goes on (or as she’s spending time with taissa) she slows down some. quiets. she’s snarkier. holding tension differently.#Hewson starts the performance at an 11 so they can really delve into who Van becomes when the mask is off#when there’s no point in playing the class clown#when it’s like. ah yeah. here’s the kid who grew up too fast.#here’s the kid who’s scared to death. and angry. and willing to fight to live.#it’s not an overacting thing. it’s VAN overacting to keep her secrets#watch the face so you miss what the hands are doing#actors man. actors are fucking cool. storytelling is fucking cool.#deconstructing the illusion is my favorite thing#(anyway still watching servant and it’s still really. Something Else.)

dinner in america is such a “take what you want from it and leave the rest” movie for me because i do think it’s very cute and i can buy into some of the wish fulfillment nature of the story but admittedly there are some parts that really don’t work for me, there are some parts that fall a little flat either in terms of the characters or humor, and the pacing is a bit of a challenge tbh. but it’s unbelievable what the human brain can overcome by virtue of simply Just Liking That Guy
#idk i just like that guy#obviously i’m a loser girl enjoyer but i have some qualms about how infantilized patty is throughout the script#it must be said i worry how much of the wish fulfillment thing is about guys wanting to date fairly naive young women who don’t know things#and who are ‘innocent’ and easy to take advantage of etc#but i also think that a LOT of the wish fulfillment thing is being a young woman in the world for the first time#feeling unsure about how you make sense of the world and your place in it#feeling pretty inexperienced wrt intimacy etc#and having someone see you very clearly for who you are and not caring about you figuring your shit out#and just liking you and wanting to be with you and thinking the stuff that makes you a freaky little weirdo is rad af#so like simon’s narrative role ends up being WAY more mpdg than patty’s and that actually saves the movie for me lol#anyway sorryyyyy for turning into a kyle gallner fan blog. frankly predictable behavior from tumblr user ‘devilsskettle’ though tbqh#also this movie is like. if may from may (2002) grew up in a healthy family and found somebody who could match her energy#instead of that asshole poser she gets involved with#so good for her. definitely part of the weird girl cinematic universe#honestly feels like a movie that should’ve come out in 2002 instead of 2020

Alice's actions & image should absolutely be recontextualized and given more sympathy than they are#but I have absolutely no intention of diminishing or downplaying them either. That's why I love her so much.

Last post before I crash and no-one hears from me until I return from my first final the morrow’s eve (a changed man no doubt) but there’ll never be anything funnier to me than consistently being viewed as a composed and calm saviour by peers while I’m, actively and uncontrollably losing it.
#not said sarcastically or as a vent by the way I genuinely find it so terribly amusing. you think I have it together ? aw <3 you fool.#i’ve been pacing around my room like a starving lion since the past week in whatever free time i’ve had.#and i keep getting people in my messages begging me for last minute help ? which is endearing but. i’m hanging on for dear life myself#helping isn’t foreign to me; i have 4 (?) people in my class who almost exclusively refer to me as ma’am and even refer to me as a teacher.#but helping last minute is so. deeply chaotic.#and I have this issue with me where having others around me makes me immediately drop into a ‘role’ of sorts?#i’ll be freaking out but then someone else starts freaking out around me and my immediate response is to just.#hey. we are going to make it out of this. it’s easy as pie. do you see me worried? no right? <- on the verge of hyperventilating#there’s this one guy in particular who got so excited to find out we have the exact same examination set-up tomorrow.#i gave him like basic pointers and i don’t think i’ve ever been thanked so earnestly and desperately in my life.#i remember during mocks my friends would message me what I wrote in questions and then they’d immediately go oh thank Fuck.#they’d literally just act like they’re absolutely going to pass now just because we had points in common.#as if i’m some sort of fucked up correct answer sheet incarnate.#it’s genuinely really sweet to me though; like i’m not posting this ranting or such.#having so much faith in another to the point that you can put yourself completely at ease says. alot i think.#and i’m glad i can be that person for so many.#and I feel like it helps me in a way too because i become so concerned with others that I forget to drown myself in my worries.#i forget that I’m worried because there are others to care about and console and help. so i suppose they help me in a way as well.#but also who is going to be that person for ME. who is going to console ME. im going fucking neurotic /jest#<- woman with ego issues & control issues who would rather die than accept help.#sigh. oh well.
