Hey, so I saw someone telling you about their OCs, mind if I tell you about my Wizard101 OCs? I've got two developed wizards and one Marleybone side character.

Marissa Nightshade is the first wizard I made that I kept (f in the chat for Roslyn Wintergarden). She's a Death wizard and she's 21 and bi. She came from Wysteria initially and she'd wanted to be a vet but then changed her mind and started studying magic at Ravenwood- as she didn't meet the requirements for Pigswick, which had required her to take some kind of classes before going there. On her journeys she became good friends with Nosferabbit and Billy the Cutter. She has a kind of sassy demeanor and gives off an air of being perpetually annoyed by everything but is actually quite friendly. She especially likes to roast the villains while she's battling them.

Genevieve is a Storm wizard, and is 25 and probably also bi (I haven't decided yet). She came to the Spiral on accident when a machine she was building on Earth malfunctioned and sent her through a rift in space-time to Wizard City. She worked odd jobs around the Spiral until she worked in the post office in Marleybone, which she absolutely fell in love with. When Arthur Wethersfield came to visit family and saw her at the post office they struck up a conversation, and she was interested in magic. She was too old to attend Ravenwood but Professor Wethersfield asked Halston Balestrom if he'd be willing to tutor her privately in Storm magic, which he was- and although she wasn't taking Balance tutoring from Professor Wethersfield they'd become friends and would occasionally meet up for tea and catching up. He mentioned a friend looking for someone who knew Storm magic and gadgets and asked if she'd be interested. Genevieve was very interested, and so he later took her back to Marleybone to see that friend and before long she was staying there again, working for a science lab with Storm magic.

She eventually met a Marleybonian gentleman and fell in love with him, and they soon got engaged.

Genevieve is very smart and sophisticated, and she hopes to help everyone in the Spiral solve their problems through science.

Finally, Bentley is Genevieve's fiance, and is 28 and might be heterosexual (again, I haven't decided yet). He's a gray and black anthro poodle. He grew up in a middle-upper class family and he's loved playing the violin ever since he was young. His grandfather left him the bookstore that the family's run for generations in his will. Bentley dedicated himself to making it absolutely beautiful and unlike any other bookstore in Marleybone. But he still kept playing the violin anyway, even though he didn't need to make money from it anymore.

And when Genevieve came into the bookstore one day to buy a copy of some scientific journal, it was love at first sight for both of them.

Bentley is hardworking, very meticulous (to the point of being nitpicky) tolerant, generous, and also generally nervous and unsure of himself.

Meet my Death wiz, Marissa Nightshade!

Marissa is my highest level Wizard at 56 and the first one I created (that I ended up keeping... RIP Roslyn Wintergarden and Anna)

The pictures of her with the coat and red boots are her main outfit, while the pictures of her with the dress are of the last outfit she had before that and the one I chose to give her as her main game-based outfit.

In my drawings, like with Genevieve, I also gave her 2 outfits: A main one based off of what she's wearing in-game, and another one based off of an outfit I put together in The Sims.

Marissa is 21 right now and is bi, and she loves all things creepy and dark- but don't let her edgy, cold exterior fool you, she's actually really sweet.

Marissa, originally from Wysteria, started attending Ravenwood at the latest age she could be accepted, as prior to this she had gone to a traditional school and was actually training to be a veterinarian- but when she had to help the vet whose office she was working at get the medicine to put a pegasus down she realized she'd have to do that too and she couldn't bear the thought of seeing the animals in that much pain or dying. On her way out after quitting her job at the vet clinic she saw a group of Pigswick Academy students playing around with spells and she thought it looked really cool. She applied for Pigswick right away, but their admission criteria required her to have taken certain classes in her regular studies- which she didn't, but luckily Ravenwood didn't have those same requirements, so she applied and was accepted there. She liked it here better anyway, as she adored the look of the Haunted Cave and Nightside. Death Magic came naturally to her, but her secondary classes didn't really come as easily. She happened to come in one day on the weekend to make up an exam for Storm class and she met Genevieve there, practicing with Professor Balestrom. The two hit it off and soon became friends, and they stayed friends even when Genevieve moved to Marleybone- where Marissa would often visit her once Headmaster Ambrose sent her to Marleybone to assist with problems there. She was so happy for her when she met Bentley- and she's scheduled to be the maid of honor at their wedding.

Because Marissa liked spending so much time in the Haunted Cave, practicing her Death magic here because the vibes just felt right to her, she met Nosferabbit. They connected over their admiration of the macabre and gothic aesthetics, and Marissa especially thought being friends with a vampire was awesome.

When Marissa was tasked to deal with Dr. Jackall she wandered into a random room and met Billy the Cutter. She thought he was beautiful- she managed to talk him out of fighting her, but after dealing with Dr. Jackall, Marissa started going back again and again so she'd have an excuse to see Billy. He didn't really get why but he didn't mind the company- finally, someone wanted to talk to him who wasn't either just trying to suck up to him or order him around!

But eventually when they became close enough, Billy would drop a bombshell that Marissa wasn't expecting: he came out to her as gay. Marissa was stunned, and was glad that he felt comfortable enough around her to tell her a secret he'd been keeping, but was still kind of disappointed because she wanted to date him. But then she remembered something else... Nosferabbit was openly gay, and so she decided to set the two up. They would, of course, hit it off and start dating.

I forgot to tell y'all about my night time heartbreak last night.

So I was looking at my mints last night (peppermint & sweet mint in one giant pot, chocolate mint & spearmint in another) because I was proud of how much they were flourishing. They were all massive. Then I saw it...

Every single one had a horrible case of mint rust, a fungus that develops due to high humidity & the plants being so dense. I didn't harvest enough or pull them in from the rain enough.

Now, if it's not a bad case, only impacting a couple stems, you can just cut off the infected bits. Unfortunately as I looked closely at them, ALL of them were extremely infected. I had to uproot & then trash all of them (because you can't compost diseased plants). I cried. BUT luckily mint is cheap & it wasn't one of my not cheap tropicals.

Let's check on the rest of the outdoor crew, shall we?

Strawberries were being eaten but when I repotted them, I found the culprit. A little green inch worm. I took a mugshot then released him on bail into the wildflowers.

Speaking of...

The wildflower beds are doing well. One of my sunflowers (who hasn't bloomed?) is taller than me. Also, all the seed we (I) spread in the yard is doing super well with all the batshit rain.

Alfred Pennyworth, the plumeria, is still growing leaves like crazy but no blooms. I put my topiary hibiscus & Mandevilla together in a massive pot. They seem to like it, as both are sprouting buds/blooming.

My lavenders are growing like crazy & blooming! I've had lavender plants since my early 20s & have NEVER had them bloom, so that's dope. I moved my datura (nightshade) ober with them because she's more of a shady lady. She seems to enjoy their company.

Roslyn, the mini rose, is still flourishing & now has buds on her. The 3 bois in the long pot (i forget wtf they are) are blooming like gangbusters. Speaking of bonkers blooms...

My bushy hibiscus has 20+ buds getting ready to pop. The dudes behind him are cilantro seeds because Bailey ate the cilantro I had out back. So I repurposed the planter...

And OF COURSE i hit the photo limit. Fucksake. Brb.

Who wants outdoor plant updates?

(I'll just go ahead & assume everyone raised their hands or said "ooh! Me! I do!" while bouncing up & down excitedly.)

So...

FIRST OF ALL i moved Princess Jasmine to the side with the most direct sunlight about a week ago & SHE HAS BABY TENDRILS!

The lavender twins took her place in the mostly shaded end of the flowerbed & they are really flourishing, too. So that was a fantastic impulsive choice.

The mints are all insane. The 3 in the bucket (sweet mint, spearmint, & peppermint) have to be pruned regularly because I caught sweets & pepper trying to encroach on other pots. Chocolate mint outgrew his pot pretty rapidly after I moved him out of the Mint Collective container (I don't think he was getting enough nutrients) & now lives in the Big Green (who formerly housed wildflowers & strawberries but Fat Tony the squirrel ate all my wildflowers & I moved the strawberries for safety). Chocolate is really spreading out, but hopefully he gets bushier/fills out like pepper did.

The Spawn's cherry tomato plant, Bob, has shot up in the last week, so I had to stake him to keep the wind from toppling him.

Alfred Pennyworth, the plumeria, is getting HELLA foliage but no blooms yet. Crossing my fingers that this will be the year. Pinky Pie, the strawberries, seem happy with the new container but I really think she needs something deeper than that. Clearly the superbells are great & the bushy hibiscus is still recovering from getting overly wet out back during an unexpected downpour.

The petunias love being in this thing & in this spot. Sally, the flowering nightshade, loves that particular spot, too, & just had her pot upgraded so she can spread out a bit.

Roslyn, the mini rose bush, has lots of new growth but no new blooms. Frankly, I'm shocked I've even kept her alive this long since roses are supposedly pretty finicky.

Last but not least, this bit of the flowerbed is doing quite well with the native wildflowers & snapdragons. My rosemary isn't doing great in there but it's still alive. I may have to do another in a pot to get the growth I usually do. I don't want to uproot that one because while it isn't just flourishing, it's not dying either & I don't want to harm the surrounding wildflowers.

That's really it for outside baby news. The tree topiary hibiscus isn't dead but isn't really flourishing either. I'm not entirely sure what's up. And the other tropical that I got when I got the bushy hibiscus is also recovering from that downpour but has a new flower bud on the side, so that's encouraging.

I've been resurrected! I went outside for the first time in like... four days to start on Princess Jasmine's upgraded house & found some pleasant surprises among my plants.

Let's check it.

The lavenders are lovely but... what's that surrounding it in the wildflower bed? Let's take a closer look.

The Spawn's bulbs are coming up! And the rain gifted us a few mushrooms. What else has the rain gifted us?

Nightshade has really taken off! The cherry tomato boi has apparently lost his damned mind, going bonkers. He needs a new stand/trellis. Roslyn, the mini rose, has bloomed for the first time since I've gotten her. ♡
