You know what’s bothering about the the 2nd and 3rd Mummy movies that I’m just NOW noticing?

Why isn’t Alex British in the 3rd movie?! The kid playing Alex in the 2nd movie was British, so why not continue that continuity to Alex when he’s grown in the 3rd?

And don’t get me started on his age in the second movie, and that whole plot hole. That’s another can of worms.

If Lock-nah hadn’t wanted it, Imhotep probably would have let Alex live....

...if he wasn’t a problem to his plans.

Had him kidnapped alive and completely unharmed. Complemented his strength and seemed amused at his sass.

Only named villain in the movie to not explicitly threaten him (most convos he threatened Alex’s parents).

Gave him books to read. Let him boss around and annoy his underlings for water/bathroom breaks/other resources.

Patted him on his head after “killing” his parents. Kept him fed, gave him room to move, and made sure he had enough water.

Kept multiple other villains from harming or killing him. Never looses his temper with Alex like he does with his parents and even servants.

Overall, Imhotep was nicer to his worst enemies’ kid than to most of his own team (barring Anaksunamun).

Maybe it’s because he didn’t take a kid seriously, but Imhotep was never antagonist towards Alex.

Do you think Evy gets really sad thinking about Rick growing up?

Like, if someone would have just given him a chance, he wouldn’t have struggled so much. He wouldn’t have had to fight for everything he’s ever gotten. He wouldn’t have had to join the Legion, he wouldn’t have gone to jail and been nearly executed, he wouldn’t have done it all alone. He wouldn’t feel like he’s not worth her, despite how much she reassures him that he’s the best thing that ever happened to her.

And she sees it everywhere. It’s in the way he’s smarter than he lets on, it’s in how foolhardy he is, and how gentle he is with Alex. He’s always there, always telling him how bright he is, how much he takes after his mother. But to Evy, he takes after Rick most of all. He’s intelligent and brave and caring just like his dad.

If she could, Evy would scoop little Rick up and smother him with kisses, protect him from the world and spoil him rotten. But she can’t, and that hurts. So she does the next best thing she can think of. She tries so hard to make his life full of joy and to give him enough love to make up for what he missed and then some.

Alex O’Connell is the perfect example of how to write a kid that belongs to the love interests from a previous film while also taking his other family members into account as well.

He has little physical and personality related aspects of both his parents (as well as Jonathan) that make him feel well rounded.

He’s got Evie’s smarts and Rick’s determination, sass he got from both his parents, and a childlike, playful attitude that he gained from his uncle.

He’s just a good kid all around, and you can really tell who his family is from watching him.

I am so ready for this fucking night to be over. Slamming my hand on the desk causing my entire desk to rattle. They were sitting on a stage, there were  4 of them, the redhead in the center of the group, she had her hair pulled back, curled slightly at the end.
