Agron :: RPC Dev Micro Discussion
How does your muse feel about pets? Would they ever own a pet? If they did, what kind of pets would they have, and what would they name them?
AGRON & DOGS
As if Agron isn't already a bleeding heart softie (well... once you get to know him), he's also a Massive Dog Person™. Growing up, the working hounds of his family's homestead were the his constant companions. They assisted Agron in managing the goats, watched his back when he was trap hunting in the forest, drove foxes off the garden coops, even kept him warm on the coldest nights. The Germani had honestly never imagined his life without a dog at his heels until he'd been captured by Roman forces.
But even the Fucking Empire had dogs, if a different sort than Agron was accustomed to. Breeds that were both familiar enough to make the Germani homesick, and strange enough to make him angry. But beggars (or slaves) can't be picky with their company, and a Dog is still A Dog. So on the rare occasions that there was a canine sniffing around the Ludus, Agron spent precious hours (and mouthfuls of food) coaxing a tentative friendship. Duro would tease him, but he hardly minded, since it also made his brother smile.
Later, after liberation (after... everything), the Rebel Army was no place for animals. Not ones they didn't intend to eat, anyway. So Agron reined in his natural inclination to befriend the dogs he encountered, instead holding tight to the hope of the homeland beyond the Rhine, its wild forests and craggy terrain, and the unassuming working dogs that walk alongside its people.

Does your muse know multiple languages? What is their mother tongue? What drove them to learn more than one? How fluent are they? Can they read and write in all of the languages they know? Or can they only speak and understand these other languages? - rpcdev micro-challenge
Spencer does indeed know multiple languages; canonly, he knows English (of course), Korean, Russian, Spanish && Yoruba. I headcanon that he also knows Japanese, Chinese && American Sign Language, && in one of my ship verses he is learning German. As far as fluency, he is only Fluent in English, Korean, && Russian. He can understand Yoruba enough to help with a case in Season 10, but he is by no means fluent && definitely cannot speak it himself. He can understand && likely read Spanish, but as shown in season 1 he is not the best at pronouncing it. His pronunciation has gotten better over the years, but considering his lack of chances to use it, his pronunciation is not perfect. In my ship verse in which he is learning German, he can speak a few sentences as well as read && write at a beginner’s level.
Why he learns these languages is purely headcanon on my part, as it is not ever discussed in the show. Spencer is shown in ‘Honor Among Thieves’ (2x20) to have absolutely no knowledge of the Russian language, but he is shown in a later season to have enough Russian comprehension to not only speak it, but also understand a 5 hour long movie completely in Russian. I believe that Spencer learned Russian out of necessity; he encountered a case in which knowledge of the Russian language would have been incredibly beneficial, && he did not know it, so he set out to learn it in case a similar situation arose && Emily was not there, for whatever reason, to be the Russian translator. This is also why Spencer knows American Sign Language; in season 8, there is an episode featuring a deaf && mute unsub, && Alex communicates with him in ASL during the confrontation. After this case, Spencer asks Alex to teach him sign language, && she happily obliges.
For Spanish && Korean, Spencer learned these 2 languages in order to watch soap operas. That sounds silly, but hear me out; in season 2, Elle mentions sitting at home watching soap operas && Spencer enthusiastically asks her which ones, implying that Spencer not only watches soap operas but greatly enjoys them. Two other languages that have similar types of shows are Spanish && Korean, with telenovelas && K-Dramas, respectively. It’s quite likely that Spencer stumbled upon a telenovela when channel flipping, && upon realizing the content, started to learn Spanish to be able to understand them. I’m not too well versed in the world of K-Dramas, but it seems as if there is a Korean Broadcasting Station in America, so it is also likely that Spencer stumbled upon K-Dramas in a similar manner. Why Spencer is so interested in these types of shows I’m not quite sure, && will be further developed in a later headcanon.
As far as why he knows Japanese && Chinese, I think it’s fair to say that Spencer may have a bit of a fascination with language; why else would he learn so many instead of relying on subtitles && other team members that might know these languages?? Therefore, I like to think he’d learn Japanese && Chinese in order to compare their language structures && written characters to Korean. They are certainly not the only languages with their own specific written characters, however he would learn those 2 specifically to compare their similarities to the Korean language. This fascination with languages can also be attributed to his seemingly random knowledge of Yoruba; it’s likely he stumbled upon it either on a case or when reading the obscure foreign texts he likes to read, && simply wanted to learn more about it. He is a polyglot && certainly would not pass up an opportunity to add to the amount of languages he knows.
#;; why would they need to know that ( about )#;; headcanon#rpcdev#not me seeing a micro challenge and managing to write over 600 fucking words for it

disclaimer: as i say for all my headcanons, just in case; please don’t come at me saying something about what is and isn’t canon about my portrayal of a character i choose. if i wanted canon aspects in everything, i wouldn’t be here.
sirius black’s motorbike:
one of sirius black’s prized possessions is his enchanted motorbike that he got in the early months of 1977. he had a big fascination with motorbikes as a teen and a while after he left grimmauld place, he got and enchanted one. the bike was a triumph bonneville t120 (the model featured in the movies). it was the first model of the bonneville series and said model was discontinued for a bigger model in the early 1970’s. ignoring the fact that it was an older model, sirius loves his enchanted motorbike and he takes care of that bike like it was his baby. while he is in azkaban, the bike stays with hagrid and it was given back to sirius after his escape. sometimes, (after he is freed) when he’s bored or restless, he will just take his bike and go for a ride or a flight, the only sounds he needs are the wind whooshing in his ears and the roar of the loud engine below him. he can constantly be found cleaning it, checking it for scratches, doing small repairs on it, checking the enchantments, and even applying new ones.

September Week 2 Micro!
Does your muse know multiple languages? What is their mother tongue? What drove them to learn more than one? How fluent are they? Can they read and write in all of the languages they know? Or can they only speak and understand these other languages?
While in DELTA force, operatives needed to learn to blend in, anywhere. The ability to hide in plain sight was a high priority, so to do so, many of the operatives had to learn many languages. Several languages Gemma knows are; Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB), Russian, Arabic, French, Spanish, Farsi, Dari, Latin, conversational Chinese (meaning she can hold a conversation but does not have mastery over the language). She also learned; C, C++, Java, Binary, and Assembly because she is a huge nerd. Each of these languages helped her blend in during most operations. However, her mother tongue is English. But, while she knows how to speak all of these languages, the only ones she can write in are Spanish, French, and Russian. (And the computer languages, but you type those, so I don’t think that counts haha). There are many other languages out there that Gemma would love to learn. Though throughout time, Gemma might forget how to speak a few of these because of lack of use in the field or because of the effects of the chair on her brain.

If there are aspects of their personal stories that they leave out of the telling, how do they deal with them? Do they bury those aspects? Rewrite them? Have they accepted they happened at all? Or are they still in denial? || dev tea room november week two micro
Maria leaves most of her personal story out whenever she meets people. Even her professional life is shrouded in mystery — there’s a lot of things that she did in the army and with SHIELD that are still classified, and so she doesn’t give anyone a hint as to where she was or what she was doing when she was off the grid. It’s habit now to keep all of that to herself, but it didn’t exactly start that way. She’s always believed that the work is more important than the person, and as long as she gets the job done, it doesn’t matter if her coworkers know who she is behind the tactical suit. If people want to offer her their stories, she will protect them the way she protects all of the secrets that she knows; she’ll die before she gives them up.
The professional stuff she leaves out because she’s expected to — classified means classified, so unless the person that she’s talking to was there with her at the time, the most she might admit to is that she visited Place A at some point in her life, or met Person B sometime ‘before’. She makes no secret that she can’t tell those parts of her story, especially around other people in the world security business; if people pry she simply says that the information is classified (and, if they keep asking or poking and prodding, she might fling an elastic band at them. I’m obviously not looking at any dark haired geniuses in particular when I say this).
The things that she leaves out from her personal life are different. She knows she can’t change them and that they made her who she is, but sometimes she is ashamed of them. There is still shame in the fact that her father never cared about her, that her mother died giving birth to her, even though she’s gone through therapy and she knows in her bones that neither of those things is her fault. It’s not much of a secret that her home life wasn’t exactly peachy before she went to the army and then to spying — the fact of the matter is that most people in her line of work didn’t have a happy childhood or home life. It’s what makes them good at finding out secrets and living a life that doesn’t allow them to make connections with other people all that easily. But just because people can guess that something happened doesn’t mean that she will give them the real answer. It’s one of those things that only comes out when Maria has known someone for a long time, and generally only after they have already offered up a personal secret of her own. Maria is still used to learning other people’s secrets while keeping her own close, and it takes practice to get used to doing it the other way.

Grace - Head canon
What does your muse carry in their carry on luggage? Or their pockets if they don't carry a purse? How does this change from what they typically carry around in their purse or pockets? What would they pack in an emergency go-bag?
Grace has never really left Gotham. There was this one time she went to Metropolis, but that was ages ago back when she was in high school and it had been a total bust; it hardly counts. So she's never really had to pack for an extended trip before.
In saying that, she does have a go bag. This is mostly for when she gets the dreaded phone call from a concerned friend or neighbour that her mom isn't well again. It's worked in a pinch when the fire alarm in her building was set off too. The go-bag consists of: a pair of PJ's, a change of clothes, an extra set of underwear, the essential period related products, some miniature toiletries that she was given by a friend after they'd been on holiday, a spare her last 20 dollars for emergencies - all boringly practical things.
The pockets on women's clothes suck, so unless she's thrifted a good pair of jeans from the men's section, we're talking about jacket pockets here. She keeps her essentials in her jacket pocket - bank card, phone, that kind of thing. It's not like she hasn't got a purse with her too, but y'know Gotham. It's much easier to throw your purse to a mugger in an alley and run like hell in the other direction when there aren't any real valuables in there.

Keeping up with the Joneses is a phrase that Sonja has heard thrown about often in the modern world, and one that perplexes her to a touch. She does not understand buying things one will not use or does not need, in order to show up others or spark jealousy in others. It seems a waste of time and resources to her, she pays no particular mind to the trends that come or go as she finds them all to be quite circular. What was popular once a few decades best might find a sudden resurgence in a newer decade and be suddenly called new, or deemed ‘vintage’ or a ‘revival’ of a past style. To her, its all the same thing, repeated over and over again, and grew tiresome long ago.
She only keeps the barest tabs on what is considered fashionable for the era, in order to blend in more seamlessly in with humans to avoid having to change residences more often. As a result, she tends to favour more simple cuts and high quality clothing (to avoid having to replace things more often, given how clothing made in modern times have a shorter lifespan than what she was accustomed to in centuries past) that are perfectly tailored to her figure.
Inadvertently, she often becomes the Joneses without being aware of it. She looks put together without much effort, because she keeps to simpler cuts and styles that are tailored to her precise measurements which do not change over time. Purely because she hates the fuss of having to shop for herself often, she buys and keeps classic pieces that give her a timeless sort of look. To an outsider it would seem she favours vintage inspired clothing, whereas in reality she has likely had the piece since it first rose into popularity however many years ago.
On the rare occasion she has been asked just how she has a piece created by a designer/craftsman/artist long since passed, and depending upon how close the other is to her (if they are aware she is not human, for example) will depend on whether she will be forthright in her answer; if she will simply say she purchased the item because she liked it, claim it was a gift, or a heirloom she received as inheritance.
If someone close to her was to bemoan how they can never look as good as she does, or have the things she has; Sonja would likely be amused and gently point out to them that she’s a vampire and has the massive advantage of time to curate her collection of things, and therefore has had plenty of time to figure out what things work for her and which do not. She’s not materialistic in the usual sense, she prefers to collect quality products especially if she will wear or use them often, and therefore tries to buys things that will last and be able to be taken with her wherever she goes.
Sonja would ever bother to pay close attention to trends or whatever is deemed the latest and greatest if she were looking for a gift for someone she knew cared about that sort of thing--while she finds it a tad ridiculous she will not belittle the things others find important to them, so long as it does none harm.
She isn’t terribly possessive over her possessions, apart from a handful of items she’s quite willing to lend them out to a friend should they want to borrow it from her, so long as its returned back to her eventually. Occasionally she will outright part with items of hers, if they no longer serve a purpose to her and would be better used by another individual. If a friend of hers needed to borrow clothing from her at the last minute for an event, she would happily oblige and oftentimes gift it to them for safekeeping rather than ask for it back.
#--&;I'm not a hero or a martyr;think I'm the villain of the story(headcanons)#rpcdev#from the week four micro challenge:keeping up with the joneses#fun fact as someone who has a degree in fashion marketing and business: its literally all circular. its that way by design has been for ages#everythings recycled for trends so honestly don't beat yourself up over it go do your own thing#literally it does not matter. do your own thing. one mans trash is another mans treasure#fuck the trends do what you want even if its not considered trendy#be free! buy the stupid shit that brings you joy wear a ballgown to the grocery store#whatever you gotta do to get that seratonin#go for it my dudes#long post for ts#long post for mobile

Does your muse feel the call of wanderlust? Or do they try and avoid going outside of their comfort zone? || rpcdev’s May week 4 micro challenge
Andrew is not especially inclined to wander. in fact, he’s a bit of a homebody with some nuance. home to him is where his people are, so if they feel inclined to wander off, he’ll gladly follow them but he won’t really be the one to initiate such a move. a large part of that comes from his trauma of moving his entire life very abruptly after the death of his husband - Cairo to New York City is no small move, & in a lot of ways, he’s still very much adjusting to that.
there’s some exceptions made for traveling to places already familiar to him - Alicante/Idris, or having to drop in on other Institutes he has previously spent time in being the most notable - but he will absolutely never set foot in Egypt again, not even for a layover in a modern verse.
in verses where Sabra is still alive (& living under the name Joe al-Kaysani), or he’s dealt with his grief to some degree enough that he’s finally felt safe enough to ease himself out of the comforts of what’s heavily familiar or routine to him, Andrew is much more open to wandering, traveling, & experiencing the world as a whole.

#rpcdev server micro challenge: social media
travis’ social media presence, in a word is best described as messy. while he tries to keep up with new trends and social platforms, he’s also incredible forgetful and easily distracted. on the off chance he hasn’t lost his phone, or had it turned off because he couldn’t afford his phone bill on any given month, then he’s probably forgotten the login to his twitter or instagram ( the only platforms he’s even tried to navigate, besides tinder ).
on twitter - he’s only there for the memes, the boobs, and the hope that one day his celebrity crush, rihanna will finally noticing him. on instagram - it’s mostly pictures of his gnarly injuries, motorcycles he dreams of owning or working on, and pictures of his current significant other.
on any platform, very little thought it put into curation or the bios of said profiles, and the usernames he choses are either just his name or some stupid joke like ‘dickmaster69′ that he created back in middle school and still hasn’t figured out how to change.
travis is not tech-savvy. he is still trying to figure out how to change his profile photo on twitter, so forget about a nice header or aesthetic theme for his profiles, he’s not into ‘stories, snaps or tiktoks’ and hasn’t even tried to venture onto these other platforms because quite frankly he’s lost most of the time on the more basic and user-friendly platforms.
when it comes to frequency, consistency or actual use of these platforms, he’s flakey, infrequent and hardly an active user. as stated above, he’s forgetful, he will go months without updating and then return to posting like he hasn’t been MIA for an extended period of time.
travis’ social following is almost always non-existent. it’s just close friends, and a lot of spam bots that he thinks are real people enjoying his lackluster content.

RPCDev Micro Challenge
Brock never chose to learn how to take a hit. he wasn’t a violent or confrontational kid, it wasn’t something he should have ever needed to know. but, when you grow up in an abusive home, over the years you learn how to take a hit so that it doesn’t hurt AS much. and learning that and how to hide the pain from other people has made it easy to put up with the punishing and strenuous training in the Navy and the SEALS… and SHIELD… and HYDRA.

rpcdev October Week 1 Micro Challenge
If your muse moves into a new town and is interested in starting to date, how do they go about it? Do they participate in dating apps or join Facebook groups? Do they just throw themselves into public places and strike up a conversation? How exactly do they move past a chatty stranger into a friend or beyond?
Dating apps aren't an option for Ororo (outside of an AU). She's a public figure getting a crazy amount of unsolicited pics and invites from strangers as it is, even if she weren't being set up by friends has never worked out, so trusting technology to find someone holds zero appeal.
Though she's someone who enjoys (would even say needs) companionship, dating doesn't make the long list of her priorities anyway. If in a new town, the first and primary goal is making the place feel like home, and she'll join online groups (with a fake profile) to find where other locals, particularly Black locals, like to drink, shop, etc. Groups centering around photography, yoga, and gardening are also a draw, and she'll typically meet new people while exploring recommendations from the group.
Having experience as a diplomat and spokesperson, she can easily walk into public places and strike up a conversation, but due to her fame and looks, she gets approached more than she'll approach people. For this reason, she'll often cover her natural hair when visiting a location for the first time.
If she's hitting it off with someone new, Ororo is pretty straightforward about wanting to see them again, usually posing a friendly suggestion to swap contact info or meet up in the same place at a later date. And is equally straightforward about not wanting to see someone again. If her words don't get through, the sparks in her eyes make it obvious.

From an RPC Dev Micro that I Forgot to Post
What song(s) do your muses associate with important moments in their lives?
Logan, despite having long ago given up on the concept of spirituality (and isn’t that a whole ‘nother can of worms), finds he really enjoys Folk and American soul music. One song that resonates with him is "Run On," a long-lived song that eventually became known more commonly as "God's Gonna Cut you Down."
The most popularized rendition of this song is by Johnny Cash, but Logan originally heard it sang by The Jubalaires in 1947 and he's enjoyed listening to the song's evolution every time someone new records what is essentially a gospel song. While he favors The Jubalaires’s original, the Canuck also likes the Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash versions. Cash’s take on the song is darker, heavier, and sometimes it feels like the Man in Black is reaching down into Logan’s past and pulling it out with a tune.
Perhaps his attachment to the song is because Logan is a creature of habit. He finds comfort in things that are familiar despite (or maybe because of) his long lifespan and faulty memories. Music like this, that spans decades and different iterations, is of greater appeal to him than something brand new.

RPCDEV micro challenge: July Week Two - What is their social media life like? Do they have one? Is status connected to likes or could they care less?
In regards to a social media presence, Clary does actually do her best to keep active on things like Instagram; primarily to have places to broadcast her art when she can’t make it in time to submit to a gallery. She’s also very fond of posting pictures to her Instagram of her friends and family, especially when she’s generally the one who captures all the wonderful candids of everyone; these also include pictures of Jace, Magnus and Alec, Izzy and Simon, and of course Luke and Jocelyn.
Likes aren’t incredibly important to Clary when it comes to every day photos that she posts but in terms of her art, she’s well aware that putting yourself out there is important in the artistic community; especially in New York. She tries to stay on top of the trending tags and styles that seem to roll out on Instagram every other day, and she does her best to keep her platform updated at least weekly with new pieces that she’s finished or pieces that she’s in the process of working on. She has sustained enough of a following for people to notice if she doesn’t update at least weekly so, she does what she can to keep up; as best as someone who fights demons for a living can anyway.

blaise and paying the check:
when it comes to hanging out with friends or on a romantic date, blaise doesn’t mind being the one to pay the tab. he’d reach for the check first and sometimes engage in a playful back and forth debate if need be. he doesn’t have to be the one to pay, but he doesn’t mind if he is the one to pay. blaise isn’t the type that has to worry about money so he doesn’t see the point in actually arguing about it. if he’s on a date, he especially likes to pay because he’s typically the one to make a move and ask for the date. if he’s out with friends then it’s more of a ‘whoever grabs it first pays’ philosophy.

rpcdev's july's week 3 micro challenge.
Are they the type to reach for the bill at dinner first or hope the other will pay? Or do they assume the other person is gonna get the check? What’s the situation at the end of a dinner date with friends or a romantic partner?
clark kent, ever the gentleman, will always reach for the bill as if on auto-pilot. it's the same no matter if it's a friend, friends, or romantic partner. it takes a good amount of nudging from said friends if they want to split the bill, as he's rather quite adamant about helping out. but it can be done with a good amount of effort. it's going to be a mite harder for a romantic partner. it could end in a bit of ---- i don't want to say argument ---- but. it could end with definitely strong words. it would take a considerable amount of bond between them for him to be entirely allowing for someone else to foot the bill in this case. head over heels. haha. he also has this really bad habit of ordering about half of what he would truly want to order and go home and stuff his face afterward. because. peak metabolism.
