Heute war etwas entspannter. Wir standen spät auf und fuhren in die Stadt, um uns die sogenannte Orchard-Street anzuschauen. Entlang dieser Haupteinkaufsstraße gibt es wortwörtlich alles. Wir marschierten im Schritttempo durch die verschiedenen Hallen, die alle im Labyrinthformat miteinander verbunden sind, und Wilson kaufte bei UNIQLO Klamotten ein. Da Webster ein zweijähriges Einkaufsverbot verhängt wurde (von Mama verhängt, weil er anscheinend in den USA als reiner Konsument zu viel angesammelt hat), durfte er Wilson nur zuschauen. Danach fuhren wir zusammen mit Nic zum Rugbytraining, was uns beiden enorm viel Spaß bereitete. Anschließend lud uns Shonas Familie zum Abendessen ein, wo es köstliches Fleisch und japanisches Bier gab. Als Krönung kam Julia Bierkämper noch dazu, Wilsons ehemalige Klassenkameradin aus Leipziger Zeiten. Sie kam frisch aus Frankfurt und passte direkt super mit dazu. Als letzte Aktion des Tages ging es dann in eine Kneipe, wo wir verschiedene Biersorten ausprobierten, und das spät am Sonntag, wo hier noch alles offen hat!

Day 6. July 9, 2023

Today was a bit more relaxed. We got up late and went into town to check out Orchard Street. We strolled at a leisurely pace through the different halls, all interconnected in a maze-like format, and Wilson bought clothes at UNIQLO. Since Webster has been placed under a two-year shopping ban (imposed by Mum because he apparently accumulated too much as a hard-core consumer in the U.S.), he could only watch Wilson. After that, we went together with Nic to rugby training, which we both enjoyed immensely. Then Shona's family invited us for dinner, where we had delicious meat and Japanese beer. To top it off, Julia Bierkämper joined us, Wilson's former classmate from Leipzig days. She had just arrived from Frankfurt and fit right in. As the final activity of the day, we went to a pub where we tried various types of beer, and that was late on a Sunday when everything is still open here!

One of the great things I feel like we are seeing now is distinguishing between the different sides of CrossFit. Explosive Rugby Power [ Axe Physio ]

Explosive Rugby Power. Rugby players need to do a rugby power day each week. By doing so players will develop "Explosive Rugby Power". Simply, you perform exercises that mimic tasks on the rugby field (or whatever sport you choose). This means when you come to perform those tasks you will be more powerful in rugby, if you are more powerful and explosive you have increased chance of success. To become more powerful, pro rugby clubs will have specific power days in their club gym sessions. These power days focus on; less weight, moved as quickly as possible, for a small number of reps. By doing so you are creating adaptation to be explosive. Power days vary, there are many ways to do them. In general I like a session that's ordered in a way similar to this: 

1. Main Compound lift: Push press, Squat jump, Hang cleans. 

2. Secondary compound lift: Bench Press/Throw, Bench Pull, Jammer,

3. Explosive Exercises: Watt Bike, hill Sprints, Counter movement Jump, Broad Jump, Box Jump, Depth Jump, Sled Sprint, 

4. Accessory Exercises: Med ball Slam/Rotation, Band Rotation, Palloff Press, Rollouts. 

If you only do heavy weight but moved slowly, you will get strong BUT you wont be able to 'express' that strength in a quick fashion. Much like a powerlifter vs a weightlifter vs a sprinter. On the strength side of things the powerlifter moves more weight but is likely not as explosive as a weightlifter or sprinter. The weightlifter is more explosive then a power lifter (but cant lift as much weight (possibly)) and the sprinter can express their power the fastest but is most likely unable to lift as much as both a powerlifter and weightlifter.

TL:DR if you want to be fast/powerful, you need to train with exercises, at certain weights, that allow you to move quickly. More weight is not better, if you cant move that weight quickly.
