I know the impression Jaune is under is that the cat is evil and whatever, but i legitimately think that maybe he’s misunderstanding the situation. The cat doesn’t seem to be malicious at all and in fact seemed genuinely hurt that the team so easily discarded them. I think Louis was the one who got out because he was already kind and perhaps figured out who he was in the ever after. Alyx was probably deemed unworthy of the tree and some part of her is still in the ever after. I also think Louis maybe wrote the story and made it about his sister, maybe to give her the happy ending he wished she could have had if things were different.

To me, it’s highly pertinent that the main villain of Volume 9 was someone who pretended to be the group’s friend while actually planning to subvert their autonomy, and the only way to beat them was to separate the two.

Can we talk a little bit about this hug and the whole scene? There’s an aspect nobody seems to notice.

The whole scene, it’s the first time when Weiss and Jaune *touch* each other! Despite Jaune being quite touchy type with lots of on-screen hugs, leans and pats he gets and gives. But Weiss always kept her distance. So V9 is huge in this aspect - and the huge indicator White Knight can be endgame.

[The only exceptions was “healing” in V5 finale, but it was medical situation so it doesn’t count.]
