My @aroyallybigbangrwrb Neighbours AU is so close to posting time! I've also finished editing Chapters 1, 2 and almost done 3 so it is almost completely ready! 🎉

Going with a fun, cheeky snippet today: 😉

Alex leans against the fridge and pushes his sleeves up, exposing his forearms. Henry can see the veins popping under his gorgeous caramel-coloured skin, contrasting beautifully with his bright white shirt. “Anything else I can help you with while I’m here?” 

You can push me up against that fridge and have your way with me, is all his extremely unhelpful brain supplies. And he absolutely will not be saying that out loud, so he decides not to even risk opening his mouth and instead shakes his head somewhat vigorously, hoping it doesn’t come across as frantic.

wip wednesday

guys this week is taking so, so long. at least i have childhood firstprince to get me through

“I didn’t know where to go,” he says again, and it’s an ugly cracking thing.

He sounds small. He sounds weak. And it’s too much: too many words out into the air without a joke sewn in, too many hints at how hard he’s kicking underwater to keep his head above the surface, too many viewpoints of the peeling wallpaper Alex always tries to hide with gauzy curtains and framed pieces of art. It’s too much.

But Henry isn’t looking at him like he’s something marred and broken. He isn’t looking at him like Alex is a problem to fix. No, Henry’s looking at him the same way he always has.

“You come here,” Henry says simply, like it’s the easiest thing in the world. “You can always come here. Alex.”

Alex looks at Henry then, really looks at him. He tries to peek under the edges of Henry’s calm features to see if there’s something more hiding there. He tries to find a hint of exasperation under the feathery gleam Henry always looks at him with. But he can’t find it.

Alex is standing in Henry’s room in the middle of the night. His blood sounds like summer rainstorm in his ears, and the back of his eyes are burning with the effort not to leak frustrated tears. His messy mouth has just painted the room with too many words he can’t take back. And Henry is looking at him like none of it matters, like it doesn’t change the fact that Henry wants him here.

“When it’s too much,” Henry says, not much louder than a whisper, “You can come find me.”

WIP WEDNESDAY

my dearest little eggs, today I have a small snippet of Sweater Weather, which is my @aroyallybigbangrwrb fic this year!!

Childhood friends to long distance fake but not really lovers over letters ;)) just what we need (oh and it’s a college sports au too)

He has spent a great deal of time recently doing just that. Sometimes, like now, when the dying grass waves golden in the August afternoon, and the cicadas hum the soft melody that only comes around every seventeen years, Alex can’t ignore the flip-flop of his stomach and the way the sunshine seems to sit atop Henry’s head like a halo.

“Shut up, man” is all Alex can eek out. It doesn’t matter though, because Henry smiles, shaking his head, walking forward to drag Alex into a hug.

He knows it isn’t a permanent goodbye, but just one for now. He is reminded of Winnie the Pooh and the emotional turmoil of the line “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” He knows Henry would appreciate the sentiment as a sap, but he isn’t about to slice the heart on his sleeve clean off to present it on a platter for intimate dissection.

Seven(ish) sentence/inspiration Sunday

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday!

I'm gearing up to start posting my RBB fic soon, and so it feels like about time to start teasing it. It's a late-Victorian AU, set over a week at a house party at the Duke of Windsor's (aka Philip) house, where a mouthy American meets a blond English aristocrat--and just about everything he thought he knew about himself gets turned upside down.

This is Foxden Park:

“I maintain that you owe me big time for letting you drag me to this.” “No, but you’re my protector,” June says dramatically. “The guardian of my virtue, the keeper of the family’s honour! Without you, how could I ever leave the house safely? How could I be trusted to not ruin myself and drag the whole lot of us into disrepute?” He wiggles his eyebrows at her. Of the two of them, he’s certain she’s the least likely to cause any sort of reputational damage. “Do you know who this Henry is who’s just arrived?” “The younger brother, I think,” June says. “Bea says he’s a delight.” “Oh, great. Is he an earl too? A count? Please tell me he’s not a fucking prince.”

Alex flings an arm out in the direction of Henry’s voice, managing to find fabric and fist a hand into Henry’s lapel. Henry squawks in a satisfyingly unroyal way when Alex yanks him forward and they slam bodily together in midair. He holds him close as they somersault through the blackness. Henry’s breath is warm along the side of Alex’s face.

“Oh, my,” Henry whispers when swirls of color begin to emerge from the dark around them. “How peculiar.”

The colors coalesce into shapes that should never be in a hospital closet. Instead of red EXIT signs or utility lighting, there are glowing toadstools and lightning bugs and, strangest of all, a white rabbit hopping down the tunnel as they fall.

...Or, the "Alice in Wonderland as an allegory for the closet" AU fandom needs :)

Alex and Henry are strangers brought together by public transit - in three different cities. If one meet-cute is happenstance and the second is a coincidence, what do you call the third? More importantly… is it enough to fall in love?

“When we had the stupid missed connection thing earlier this month, I told Henry that life’s not a romcom. You’re a scientist, I didn’t think I would have to tell you that, too.” Alex eats another fry. Henry’s a romantic, it’s disgusting. It’s adorable. Alex can’t stop thinking about him.

“I’m a data scientist, it’s not the same,” Nora objects. “We’re built different. Anyway, who says your life can't be a romcom?”

(Or, three times public transit plays Cupid between Henry and Alex, and one time it’s no help whatsoever.)

Seven (+1) Sentence Sunday

I'm really happy to be able to say that I have finished my rough draft for @aroyallybigbangrwrb and Chapter 1 will be posted a week today, next Sunday!

Here's another little sneak peek of my neighbours AU with a bonus sentence! 😂

“Hi,” Henry responded, barely able to make proper words in his head, proud to have at least formed a single intelligible syllable with his mouth. 

His brain was still stuck on how stunning the man in front of him was, his unfairly long eyelashes coming into view as he got closer and closer. In fact, he felt there were not enough adjectives in the English language to describe just how beautiful he was. And Henry should know, as an English Literature major with a Master’s degree from Oxford, and certainly as a published author with a novel currently on the New York Times bestseller list.  

(Okay, it was #14 this week and had never been above #12, but he was definitely not complaining - he had at least made it onto the list!). 

Not wanting to be rude, Henry managed to get a few more words to escape his lips, “I’d shake your hand, but I’m a bit, uh, indisposed at the moment.” 

He tried to point at the box by tipping his head towards it, hoping that got the message across. Henry also tried to appear perfectly capable of managing the weight, but his arms were straining at this point as the box started to slowly slip lower and lower in his grasp, inching towards the floor.

here’s a tiny snippet of the bridgerton au that i am working on for the Big Bang. hopefully i can take a little break from it and be able to show you something else soon.

“He has got nice lips has he not? I notice that you have been looking.”

“What is it that you are getting at,” Henry snaps, suddenly on the defensive, trying to stop the heat from rising in his cheeks as he starts to get all flustered - thretting that the game could be up.

Bea is over to him in an instant, taking hold of his hand reassuringly. “It’s okay Henry. If I am being honest, I have also seen Alex’s eyes wandering to other men.”

Henry’s eyebrows shoot up as he says, almost horrified, “He’s been what?”

Bea’s smile just grows. “Especially you, Hen. I think he also might think that you have pretty lips. Ones that even I am very jealous of. At the races when you two were bickering and in a heated debate, it felt like the rest of us did not exist.”

FINALLY done with Chapter 2 of my Tangled fic for @aroyallybigbangrwrb, so here's a snippet with a easter egg that I'm way too proud of coming up with

They rush into the forest just outside the kingdom’s borders and take a break under a hidden tree, away from the main path. Alex leans against the tree, catching his breath while the other two desperately gulp down their water when he sees it. It’s wanted posters of all three of them, which, fine. Fair enough, comes with the job. At least the artistic rendering of him is looking fairly accurate and pretty flattering, much better than Miguel’s and Hunter’s. He scans through the information on the post: his alias “Gabriel Luna” printed in big bold letters, alright,; brown eyes, curly hair, charming smile, oh thank you, you’re too kind; age, early twenties, okay; height… “Are you kidding me?” “What?” Hunter asks, irritated. “How in the world did they get all of my information right, except for my height?” He squawks indignantly, peeling off the post and showing it to his cohorts. “Five foot eight? I’m freaking six foot two!”
