Hello Mr.Haitch!!
I hope you and your family are doing well ^^
So my questions for you are—
1) Would you consider yourself a picky eater?
2) Thoughts on the debate around pineapples on pizza. Do you like/dislike Hawaiian pizza? Also mint chocolate ice-cream yay or nay?
3) If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
4) Can you give me a lesser known food related fun fact?
5) Do you like Indian food? (Also I’ll add a little rant)— As an Indian, it peeves me a bit, whenever people reduce Indian food to only Naan, Tandoori chicken, Biryani, and Butter chicken.
India has such a vast variety of food. With each state having its own cuisine. The food which the western world is more familiar with, hails from different states. Like butter chicken is from Delhi, tandoori is from Punjab and Biryani (originally from Iran, brought to India by the Mughals) is typically from Hyderabad.
Also, India has a vast variety of vegetarian food. As far as I know, India is the only country with a vegetarian menu for McDonald’s
Okay. My rant here is done!
I hope you have a great rest of the day!
And thank you in advance for answering my silly questions ^^
1. Nope, I'm a fairly opportunistic eater when not at home. Otherwise I've got a fairly loose regimen that I follow.
2. I'm fairly neutral - I'll eat it if it's there but I won't seek it out. Mint chocolate has never been to my taste but I wouldn't deprive someone else of it.
3. This changes often, but probably salted pistachios.
4. Button mushrooms are incredibly toxic, but only at high concentrations. Unless you eat your bodyweight in mushrooms you're absolutely fine.
5. I'm hesitant to answer, in light of your comments, but not because I disagree. It's a colonial hangover where cuisines from other cultures are imported, bastardised, and then the bastardised version becomes the standard. I love what we call Indian food in the UK: lamb Rogan Josh with saag aloo is my standard. We also cook it a little, particularly keema muttar. I still use the same Madhur Jeffrey recipe my mum used, but even that's likely to have been altered for western palates.

Dinner, 7/18/23:
Main: Saag with tofu
I’ve written about this recipe before I think but it’s always worth revisiting because tbh I think it might be better than saag paneer (made at home) I know that’s controversial but most grocery store paneer tastes so bland to me?? It’s never as tangy as the restaurant ones. The tofu seasoning described in this recipe gets it just right though. I basically follow this recipe exactly but I skip the step with cauliflower and cashew and just stir in some yogurt at the end. I also add 3/4 tsp garam masala with the other spices because it just doesn’t taste right without it, and often a big squeeze of lemon juice to brighten it up. I ran out of lemons making the marinade this time so I used acv and it was fine. I also used 16 oz frozen spinach because I wanted to avoid going to the store today.
Main: this dal recipe from Madhur Jaffrey’s Vegetarian India:
Tumblr media
It’s really really good. I just used whatever dal mix we had in the cabinet which included split urad, whole urad, moong dal, red lentils and green lentils so I’m sure any available small legume mix would work. I soaked mine for 4 hours before cooking because the urad and moong dals are a bit tough usually but I’m sure it would have been fine. I also cooked it in half broth because I had some and it tasted AMAZING. I could literally eat a bowl of this for breakfast. You’re going to want to double the crispy fried shallots on top, trust me on this.
Side: basmati rice
which we are running out of. Also plain yogurt, tamarind chutney and a green Indian hot sauce that I definitely need to buy again.
Dessert: lime blueberry loaf
it’s tiny sour perfect wild blueberry season here in the northeast so I bought a pint last weekend at the farmers’ market. And then I made my one and only cake recipe (ok I guess I will eat 4 or 5 others including my lemon Bundt cake, my mom’s carrot cake, my brother’s ginger cake and my other brother’s marble yogurt cake but THATS IT. NO OTHER CAKES I DONT LIKE THEM) which is lemon yogurt anything cake but as stated above I was out of lemons so I used 4 limes. It’s quite unexpected and not overly sweet at all! And truly the texture is so good. Most of my problem with cake is how dry so many of them are, but this one (and my lemon bundt) is soaked in citrus syrup which keeps it very dense and not crumb-y at all. And there’s no frosting. Just fresh citrus juice and powdered sugar, as god intended.

We didn’t do a whole lot today. Just hanging around in the house. I can’t stay home all day so I went for a run in the afternoon. There’s an event taking place fairly near me so I ran down to that and all round the perimeter and then back. I ran 5 and a bit miles, and then the final 1.5 miles home would have been all up a very steep hill so I rang H to come and pick me up in the car. He met me at the supermarket and we picked up some soya milk for the baby, and a nice bottle of wine to have with our dinner this evening.
Dinner was leftovers from our final gousto box recipe - butternut squash and cashew nut saag, with mint and pea rice. I added a packet of king prawns, because lovely as vegan recipes can be, they’re always enhanced (in a non-vegan way) by the additions of king prawns. Now I’m drinking the wine and catching up on The Sewing Bee (semifinal) and Traitors Australia (the final!!).
Tomorrow I am planning to take myself on a solo date to see the Barbie movie 💕

Indian Tasty Recipes For The Winter To Keep You Warm
Individuals of a more mature age in an Indian family relied heavily on the power of traditional spices, flavors, or kitchen fixings as a customary arrangement of medication. These cures are convenient solutions, yet they are regular and have gone the distance with science. We never truly have the opportunity to think about the occasional movements and the produce that nature profits from at that specific time. Healthy Indian recipes utilize these customary spices, flavors, neighborhood vegetation, and so forth, to fortify our body's invulnerable reaction and system.
There are fixings that help you prep for an occasional shift—fixings that immediately fix heartburn, a runny nose, hurting feet, and, surprisingly, an undesirable pimple! These recipes remember the fixings or mixes for which they are made to deal with everything under the sun. If you want to fight illnesses the right way or avoid them altogether, this is your guide to a happy and healthy winter. Discover a portion of our customary, healthy recipes below to warm you up this winter.
Sarso ka saag
Sarso ka saag is a popular north Indian delicacy produced using a mix of green, verdant veggies. Customarily, it utilizes spinach, mustard, and bathua leaves, which leave a slight harshness in your mouth. However, this blend is a fantastic source of anti-oxidants that build your resistance, are calming, and keep you safe from lung issues. When matched with a makke ki roti, this transforms into a flavorful dinner.
Tumblr media
Bajra khichidi with home-made makkhan
The name "khichidi" makes us go all warm and fluffy inside. This smooth Rajasthani bajra khichidi with home-made makkhan is a winter favorite in numerous families. Bajra, widely regarded as the best millet on the planet, is an incredible combination of insoluble fiber, essential amino acids, minerals, and a high-energy, low-glycemic-index food. When matched with a rich spread, this recipe gives you supplements and builds your digestion and internal heat level.
Handwa
Handwa is a Gujarati dish that is extremely flexible in the utilization of its fixings. since it utilizes a mixture of blended dals, rice, a few veggies, and a liberal tadka of mustard seeds, sesame seeds, hing (asafoetida), and curry leaves. This is steamed and served, so it makes for an entirely warm and cushy supper. As a result of utilizing this plethora of fixings, we stock up on protein and carbs in an extraordinary proportion with the decency of veggies, and the tadka handles our processing, nutrients, and minerals.
Gur ka paratha
It has been a winter custom in my home to complete our feast with a piece of gur roti. This regular sugar, arranged differently in the winter, is plentiful in nutrients and minerals. As a result, it promotes invulnerability, regulates internal heat, prevents colds and flu, and prevents weakness. Furthermore, it is a joy to complete your dinner with this.
Kaadha
Each family has its own recipe for a "kaadha." In any case, it is basically a blend of turmeric powder, ajwain, and dark peppercorns with a hint of honey. This invention combats cold and flu. It has mitigating properties that assuage sore throats and lift susceptibility. Instead of popping pills, try this kaadha the next time you need to get rid of a cold. Attempt these healthy and sound recipes this winter to guarantee a solid body and blissful taste buds!

Kochu Chingri  a unique delectable Bengali dish
Author: Rana Sharma.
Hello everyone,                          A warm welcome to all of you in the world smallest blog  name "FOOD FOOD JUNCTION", hope you are doing well .  Today i am very much excited to share the recipe of "Kochu Chingri  a unique delectable Bengali dish". So lets begin our journey.  Taro plant (kochu) with prawns (chingri), known as "Kochu Chingri" in Bengali food, offers a particular and heavenly taste that consolidates the kinds of taro leaves with the flavorful nature of prawns. The flavor of Kochu Chingri can be portrayed as follows: Hearty: Taro leaves (kochu saag) have a natural and marginally dull flavor. This heartiness coordinates well with the fish taste of the prawns. Umami: The prawns give major areas of strength for a taste, which is exquisite and adds profundity to the dish. Marginally Vile: Taro leaves have a characteristic foulness that can add to the general surface of the dish. This foulness can be charming and one of a kind, particularly when offset with different flavors. Impactful and Zesty: The utilization of mustard oil, mustard seeds, and green chilies in Bengali food bestows a sharp and hot kick to the dish, which adds a layer of intricacy to the general taste.
