"I Spy"
This is confusing if it were read as a caption in the story.

Feeling unsafe is not the same as being unsafe and people are unable to distinguish between the two - you always have a right to be safe, but you do not necessarily have the right to always feel safe. This is an underlying theme in a lot of issues, like judging others' kinks, queerness, race, media analysis, and more; what the real heart of the problem is is unfamiliarity, things that people do not know and thus shrink away from in fear or disgust or discomfort. It can be a basic instinct to approach change and unfamiliarity with caution, but it needs to be an intentional act to challenge that fear/world view. It is something that we owe to the people around us, and that we owe to ourselves.

I am just so fundamentally uninterested in the story where Jason is in the wrong and needs to Gain Perspective or whatever. God what a snore. What an absolute waste of my time.

shoutout to Jake Animorphs for being kinda uninteresting for like forty books and then hitting you so hard when he fully snaps and steps into his role as a hardened military leader at the age of sixteen
and then suddenly that sweet, stressed-out kid is just gone. he only exists to win wars anymore. it makes you realize too late what was lost

Here's an unfortunately necessary reminder that I'm not a proshipper and I don't want proshippers interacting with my stuff.
Despite all my jokes about narilamb and lambteeth being toxic, the 'toxicity' in question is only a tool for literary exploration of their characters and themes and I don't mean to portray it in a good light, encourage nor romanticize it.
here's a few other considerations
I especially don't want to see anyone who ships the bishops with each other, or ratau and the lamb.
My blog is not an outright safe space for minors, but I usually tag anything explicit so any minor that wonders in can (and should) skip it
I repost artistic gore sometimes, heads up for that even though I try to always tag it
If you belong to any of the fandoms I'm in (see in pined post) and you have a blocklist, I would be really thankful if you sent it to me

Alright. I want you all made perfectly aware that I have completely cut support for Wilbur soot and any associated projects. I find his "apology" to be disingenuous and trashy damage control, and it undermines whatever desire he has to improve, however genuine that is.
I 100% support Shelby and any victim of such disgusting behaviour, i commend them for their courage, and I wish them nothing but prosperity, support, and happiness. I will always value their peace over whatever art he made. I'll find other fucking art.

NYC queer org politics ahead !
Dyke March NYC who’s march theme today will be “dykes against genocide” is being attacked for not being anti Zionist enough on insta because they released and quickly deleted a statement accidentally released without full consensus by the organizers saying that they’re anti Zionist and Pro-Palestinian liberation but also want to assure Jewish community members that they are safe and that we mourn all civilian lives lost and that was enough for the most rabid (mostly white) “leftists antizionists” to turn on this historic dyke led grassroots volunteer protest march.
I want people to understand Dyke March NYC isn’t an “official” organization. There’s no office. It isn’t run by rich donors. It’s entirely volunteer run. And it’s run mostly by poor dykes of color and disabled dykes and dykes who are on the margin in this city. They are putting their own time and money and labor to put together a march that is usually 8,000+ people and provide free water and wheelchairs and taxis for those who need help to get there. And they’re the ones who put their bodies on the line as marshals when we take the streets. Because when the march happens every year, they are the ones who block off traffic for us to march. And right now they are being attacked by people who are saying they are too “institutional” but who refuse to put in their own time to change what they want changed. I doubt most of them were even going to come to the march in the first place.
And going back to the statement. They deleted it because the statement was put out without full consensus, and they wanted to write a more detailed statement in support of Palestinian liberation while also assuring Jewish community members that they are safe. Because the march organizers received many emails from Jewish members who are pro Palestinian asking if they would be safe from antisemitism at the march. But according to the purity politics happening online, Jewish dykes feelings of safety doesn’t matter and also aren’t “real”. And you can’t be truly anti Zionist and feel empathy for civilian lives lost on Oct 7. And if you do you’re actually pro-Zionism and anti Palestinian liberation and should be hunted down by Instagram activists who are currently posting “who are the Zionists infiltrating the organizers?” While trying to hunt down whoever wrote the statement for being a “secret Zionist”. A statement put together by anti Zionist volunteer organizers is hiding a secret pro genocide message because they dared to mention they care about the safety of the Jewish community members who will be marching in support of Palestinian liberation. What the fuck is happening. People are literally spreading the rumor that the march is anti Palestinian and Zionists “infiltrated” this organization. Because a badly worded statement calling for safety for all marchers was released and deleted before a longer one was released.
Anyways I’m still going to Dyke March because every year it’s an incredible experience of thousands of queer people from all over taking the streets to scream for human rights and queer rights around the globe. And this year the march will be focused on supporting those who are facing genocides. From Sudan to Palestine. From Myanmar to Somalia. We are Dykes against Genocide. We are not safe until we are all free from violence!

'there has to come a time in your adult life when you make watching the news, keeping up with politics, taking a stance in big, current discourses a habit' lol no there doesn't. you can just not do it. and no amount of internet people saying it makes you a bad person will stop it. making myself sick with grief for strangers on the daily does not actually help those strangers. terrible things have always happened and it's only the modern worldwide information network making us aware of it in real time now. humans were not meant to live this way. if you have the ability to help and give of yourself then do that but if you can't then it doesn't make someone a bad person to focus on their own life rather than the global tragedy of the day
you think you can live in isolation from the rest of the world and yet you send me a message trying to communicate your anger with me

They both stare challengingly into the camera with their arms crossed, though Dean also holds a large blade. The background is a two lane blacktop with an older style of power line and corn on either side. At the top and bottom are flames. Sam says "im restricting", Dean says "and im bingeing" and the flaming text gif at the bottom reads "the eating disorder brothers.]

this is your semi-regular reminder, especially now that people are going on vacation and may find themselves somewhere like disney or a living history site or any sort of attraction where you may encounter an employee in a costume:
If You Wouldn't Touch Someone You Just Met In A Certain Way, Don't Touch An Employee In A Costume That Way Either
i don't mind when im offered a handshake or a little kid hugs me at the end of a tour. hell, i don't even mind if your bachelorette party asks if i want to join a group hug for a photo.
but im a person! the tinkerbell you see at disney is a person! the milliner at colonial williamsburg is a person! my coworker portraying an enslaved woman is a person! the clothes we are wearing are our work outfits, our bodies are our bodies. you do not get to treat us differently because of the photo op you want, or because you caught a glimpse of historical undergarments that intrigues you, or because you think that we, as workers, cannot say no to you without getting in trouble.
Treat Everyone You Encounter As A Person, And Don't Touch My Fucking Stomach

I honestly don't even know how to start this, or even if I should. I know that this community has had its issues, controversies, etc. At this point? It's getting ridiculous. I'm disgusted by the actions of the fucking ADULTS in this community. This is supposed to be a safe space. For everyone regardless of age, race, sexuality, gender expression, religion, etc. The fact that you've used that to hurt people is revolting. I've gotten more information about what's going on by a friend, and honestly, everyone who is associated with the current thing going on except the minor or minors who were harmed. should be ashamed. If there is anything to take out of what has happened, it is this. Don't put any creator up on a pedestal. We're all human. We make mistakes, sometimes really bad ones. Myself included. Just be aware of the people you support and follow. If they exhibit bad behavior, call it out. I hope that all of you will hold me accountable for any harm I might have or may cause. I think the best thing about being human is that we all have the ability to learn and change. I wish everyone was involved the best, and I hope this situation teaches you a lesson. And to the people harmed, it doesn't matter if these creators do change and learn and grow, if they apologize up and down, if they do everything in their power to make it right, you don't owe them your forgiveness, you have every right to be mad. You're valid no matter what you choose.
I may take some time away from tumblr. Probably not for very long, but the air here is definitely toxic at the moment. My messages will still be open for my friends, of course. Just give everyone time to heal from what happened. To the adults in the community, we have an obligation to make this place safe. Not just for each other, for everyone. We all need to do better.
