It was 4:50 and Saiki was supposed to pick you up for a coffee (and coffee jelly) date at 5. And yet he sat in his room contemplating the decision to ever even agree to this date.

He liked you, he truly did, but he wasn't so sure it was romantic. Platonic, sure. But romantic? Did he like like you?

Now, that's a conversation he knew needed to be had. Especially if you were serious about a relationship with him.

So with reluctant thoughts, Saiki finally put his shoes on, and started his journey to finding out if a platonic-romantic relationship would be enough for you to settle for.

"Good evening," he greeted. You offered a smile, humming in acknowledgement.

"before we go, I need to ask you something." He sighed, somehow genuinely nervous for the first time in his life.

"okay? What is it?"

Just get it out of the gate, Saiki. I'm sure they'll be fine. "are you okay with this- us- is just platonic?"

You raised a brow, a smile appearing on your face. "Define 'platonic'." Your voice held your usual happy tone, surprising Saiki.

"Um.. well, you know..."

"like friends, or...?" You trailed off just as he did.

"Yes, but I'm fine with us acting like it's romantic."

"what do you mean?" You began walking with him, realizing standing awkwardly wasn't helping the conversation.

"Holding hands, or you can hang onto my arm if you want, and things like this could still count as dates. but to tell you the truth, I don't really feel romantic attraction. It's nothing against you, of course. I never have with anyone." Saiki took a big breath, having rushed all of that out in one long exhale.

You thought for a moment. It certainly would be something to get used to, but you'd be lying if you said you wouldn't take any relationship you could with him.

"sure, I'm fine with that. I just have a couple questions."

Now he seemed like the happiest man alive. "Go for it."

"So, is this like a committed thing? We're just seeing each other?"

And when he answered, you were sure you heard a hint of affection and satisfaction in his usually monotone voice. But all he said was, "yeah."

A/N: idk what to say man, i love kusuo so much. please tell me if there are grammatical errors, english is not my first lenguaje!

Summary: Y/N has dangerous bad luck. Saiki tries to not get involved with her but for some reason he always ends up saving her anyways.

Y/n was a new transfer student at PK Academy, and as soon as Saiki Kusuo laid eyes on her, he knew there was something off about her. It wasn't just that she had a cheerful and outgoing personality that clashed with his own introverted tendencies, or that she always seemed to be getting into some kind of trouble - there was something else, something he couldn't quite put his finger on.

But Saiki was content to keep his distance and observe from afar, not wanting to get involved with someone who seemed to be surrounded by such dangerous bad luck. Y/n's misfortunes ranged from tripping on stairs to getting caught in freak weather events, and Saiki didn't want to risk being caught up in her chaos.

That is, until one day when Y/n's bad luck took a particularly dangerous turn. She was walking home from school when a car suddenly careened off the road and headed straight for her. Saiki watched in horror as Y/n froze in place, unable to move out of the way in time.

Without thinking, Saiki used his psychic powers to move Y/n out of the path of the car, barely managing to dodge it himself. Y/n looked up at him, her eyes wide with shock and gratitude, and Saiki found himself unable to look away.

From that day on, Saiki found himself inexplicably drawn to Y/n, even though he knew that getting involved with her could only lead to trouble. But no matter how hard he tried to keep his distance, he couldn't help but find himself saving her from one mishap after another.

It wasn't until one particularly close call that Saiki realized the truth - he wasn't just saving Y/n because he felt sorry for her, or because he was trying to avoid being caught up in her bad luck. He was saving her because he cared about her, more than he had ever cared about anyone before.

As Saiki continued to save Y/n from her dangerous mishaps, he couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility towards her. He knew that if he didn't intervene, something terrible could happen to her, and he couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to her.

But at the same time, Saiki couldn't deny the attraction he felt towards Y/n. There was something about her optimism and resilience in the face of her bad luck that drew him in, even as he tried to maintain a distance.

I was doing a study session at Saiki's house. We were just rewriting notes while listening to music or to random things we find on Youtube, we were sitting at the floor with a table in front of us while Saiki sat at the opposite side of me. I looked at him and sighed as I laid down on the floor, covering my eyes with my arm "I'm so tired. Why do i even do this, I learn nothing" I complained, grunting and groaning at the floor. 

As usual Saiki ignored me and continued writing and copying his notes "you know you're a Psychic, why are you studying? you can just read the thoughts of the genius in our class" I said, sitting up and leaning on my hand as I watched him write. His handwriting is indeed really pretty, not gonna lie. I'm just studying with you, he stated and I grunted in response "so you're just studying cause you want to study with me?" I teased him a bit, Well you can say it like that. He responded, to which I stilled, huh? Did I hear that right? Am I hearing things? yeah that's probably it, I should clean my ears If I have the time. no, I meant it. he said, I looked at him "Are you joking with me somehow? Is this your joke?" I asked him, he looked up at me and shook his head, in what world do I look like I'm joking? I chuckled "in a world full of Saiki Kusuo" I muttered, looking down. 

I heard him let out a sigh, I'm serious, look… you know I'm bad with emotions and feelings but I think I might like you. He said, almost stuttering at the last part. I stared at him, I saw a flush of pink pass but it went away so quick. Am I dreaming? Dear God this is not a fun prank, give me back my Saiki. Pretty sure God isn't gonna help you out here. "Are you serious? you're not joking? Oh God if you're joking I'm never talking to you again" I said to him, seriously I didn't know how to respond to the situation, he looks serious but he always looks serious. "I'm serious, I know you like me and there's a chance i like you too" he said, not in my mind but he opened his mouth to say it. 

He spoke to me… "you're not gonna self-destruct are you?" he asked, I looked at him blankly and shook my head "Oh God Saiki Kusuo can be my boyfriend?! This really is a dream" I chuckled, still not believing the situation. I couldn't take it seriously, so I stood up from the floor and flopped down to Saiki's bed. "Ok, now time to wake up from this nightmare," I muttered to myself, hugging Saiki's pillow. I heard Saiki's footsteps as he sat down at the edge of the bed. Enough y/n, I'm being serious, this is not a dream. We have to talk about this. 

I sighed and sat up, glancing at him "Ok- sorry, i just can't believe it. I never imagined this day would come, sorry I'm not taking it seriously" I apologized scratching my thumb, he sighed and rested his head on my shoulder. It's… ok, I understand. I'm saying I might like you but I have to confirm if it's the same with yours. I took a deep breath, God I hope Saiki can't hear my heart beating fast, it's almost as if I just drank several shots of espresso. Seriously, I have to focus. I hummed in response "how… Do you want to confirm?" I asked him, regretting that I asked it, I continued to scratch my thumb. 

Honestly, I don't know… you know I don't have any experience with love but whenever I think about it, If ever that… I have to, I want to experience it with you. Is that the same with yours? he asked me, I dumbfoundedly sat there, thinking about it… How Saiki wants to experience love with me, honestly I don't know if my brain is still working at this point, I heard Saiki chuckle. It echoed through the room, or it was just me "um… like do you want to go on dates with me? Do you see me being with you in the future? Do you see me more than friends?" I asked him and took a breath "because If yes, then yeah… it's just like how I like you, or love I don't know" I chuckled, trying to make things light. 

Oh, he said. 

God yeah he doesn't like me the way I do, I was too dumb to get my hopes up, who was I kidding he's aromantic- Then suddenly my lips were met with Saiki's, his hand slid up to my cheeks, cupping them. I stared at him for a while then melted into the kiss, my hand holding on to his shoulder. After a while he broke the kiss and looked at me, I was… in shock. 

My thoughts were in shambles, And here I thought it would shut you up. He chuckled, he cupped my face and turned me to him. He rested his forehead on my mind, I could hear his short breaths, still trying to recover from the kiss.. I sighed, maybe I really am In heaven. Good grief you’re not- stop it. I chuckled and nodded “okay- I’m not, let me just… sink into this'' I flopped back down to the bed, pinching my cheeks “I’m really not dreaming?” 

Honestly... this was a self-insert I wrote for myself when I was in my Saiki era (I just watched 1st season sorry.) I had such a bad obsession with him that time... he was my comfort character back then and I had more written, they’re all in 1st POV and maybe I’ll post them.

these are for you. that was a flat out lie. where had it come from? he hadn't even consciously made the decision to tell you that. he was craving coffee jelly all day, and now he was sacrificing the one thing that brought him genuine joy. was this what people described as self sabotage?

"oh my god, that's so sweet! you really shouldn't have. thank you so much," your glowing smile might've compensated for his newfound lack of coffee jelly, "uh, please, come in!" you moved aside for him.

no, thanks, he told himself. thanks, was the response you heard. he really was on a roll today, huh? putting aside his confusion and frustration towards this unprecedented behaviour, kusuo nodded courtly and carefully entered your house, taking care to remove his shoes at the doorway and wait for you before going any further.

you led him to your kitchen, where a quaint table and two simple chairs stood off to the side. "here, have a seat," you tried to make him feel welcome, "what's in the bag, anyway?"

just some coffee jelly, he delicately unpacked the dessert, which came in a pack of three plastic cups decorated with bright cartoons and colourful text. with practiced precision, he tore open the packaging and pulled out a single cup, placing it before you.

"ooh, the kusuo special!" you laughed amiably as you inspected the cup. he never got over the way you said his name.

after bringing to the table two dessert spoons, you reached into the pack and retrieved another cup. without asking if he wanted one or making a big show of offering the sweet to him, you simply placed the coffee jelly in front of kusuo.

for a few moments, he stared at you dumbfoundedly. why were you being so nice? what was there to gain from sharing dessert with a quiet, inert person like him? he never made an extra effort to please you or interact with you - didn't that bother you?

reluctantly, he accepted this offer (he can never seem to resist a coffee jelly under any circumstance, anyway). the two of you sat at the kitchen table, consuming the bittersweet delicacies in what you liked to think was a comfortable silence. once finished, you stood up. now she'll kick me out and tell me i've overstayed my welcome, kusuo concluded.

"wait here. lemme go put that math homework away and i'll be right back, okay?" you defied kusuo's expectations yet again.

he listened for the light sound of you padding up the stairs. waited to hear it again. couldn't wait to hear it again, because that would mean you were coming back to him. coming back to sit with him and talk with him and smile and laugh at him.

after some time, kusuo realised that you had been upstairs for quite a while. he crossed his eyes and, using his clairvoyance, discovered that you'd passed out on your bed. he logically conceded that this must've been the result of a sudden tired haze. you were really sick, after all. your covers were still neatly folded and your math homework was thrown messily beside you. your legs draped lazily over the side of your bed.

this was his chance to leave. but it would surely be rude, right? for you to wake up and find that he had left you behind when you had intended to spend more time with him. as though his body had a mind of its own today, he bounded up the steps to your room.

once he entered your bedroom, he stood frozen for a couple of moments. was he even allowed to be in here?

you rolled over slowly, murmuring sleep talk. you almost fell off your bed. kusuo moved forward and hoisted your body back up with both arms. he carefully unfolded your blanket and laid it over you, ensuring that it covered enough of you without making you feel uncomfortable. he adjusted your pillow with one hand, holding your head in his other with the utmost level of care he possibly could. after putting your head down, his hand moved down to hold your cheek gently. a delicate thumb swept across it.

realising this, kusuo hastily recoiled and he felt himself warm up inside as every bit of exposed skin flushed beet red. she drools. cute, he thought. a content smirk found its way onto his lips.
