I really just keep thinking about how, the way offerings work is you’re supposed to burn something you want. And SALLY MF JACKSON throws a match into some half melted left over ice cream that’s not even her’s, and Poseidon shows up IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!
How powerful Sally Jackson is! I love it!

“Just breathe” being something that Sally’s been telling Percy for years to help him calm down, and then being something Poseidon tries using as well. Him knowing exactly what to say to Percy meaning that Poseidon has been watching them; he’s been keeping tabs on Percy this whole time. And him telling Percy to “just breathe” is much more than trying to calm him down; it’s to try and get him to trust in his heritage, his powers, his father. And that’s why we see so much resistance from Percy in that scene, because he’s made it very clear that he doesn’t want his father’s help but in this instance he has no choice but to accept it.

Poseidon's mentally in his 40s even besides the being millenia old thing,he wasn't no 'soulmate' to a 19 year old and their dynamic was predatory as shit with the combo of how Sally had no living family members and him buttering her up with his riches and THEN ditched her with their kid not even a year later and sent ZERO reperations because apperantly him dating her was necessary to him but helping his kid until he became useful to the mythical world wasn't and it's all topped off with how he prioritizes his image over being kind to Percy and the nicest thing he's said to him was backhanded because calling them his 'his favorite son' is an insult to Tyson and Triton.AND the Pjo show made him a british white guy.Pjoverse Poseidon, kill yourself rn before i get to you first

Sally Acorn, Archie Sonic
In the premiere issue (issue 0) of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comics, Sally's appearance was different from the rest of the series (issue 1 onward). Most notably, her hair was blonde

I've been rewatching M.I.High for the nostalgia, and I just came up with a theory. What if Della/Sally, the little girl from the Agent X episode, is actually one of Zoe and Keri's sisters? It literally all matches up when you think about it. Della's been brought up by SKUL to work as an agent for them her whole life, just like Zoe. Della's 10 when we meet her, and the episode that introduces Zoe, who's 14, aired four years later, so the ages match up exactly. Della's real name turns out to be Sally, which could have been a code that was tattoed on her arm just like Zoe and Keri's names (SAL1 or maybe SALIX if that's where her Agent X persona comes from). It all makes sense!
Also another theory I have is that maybe it was meeting Della/Sally that persuaded Zoe to leave to track down her sisters. Because I like to think that Sally would have kept in touch with Oscar a bit. And maybe after the series 6 finale Frank called on Oscar and the rest of the old gang to get a bit of extra protection for Zoe and that's when oscar joined the dots and realised Sally might be Zoe's sister and introduced the two of them, and Zoe left to get to know Sally better. Idk, I just love the idea that somewhere offscreen, Zoe and Sally went off to have sister adventures together!

@bxtsence: “So what you’re saying is that I’m your ideal partner.” - Nik [x]
Salvatore stares blankly at Nik, then snorts as he wrinkles his nose in distaste. He can't keep up the disgust for long, however, and lets out a bark of laughter. ".... You fuckin' wish."

"But the term today does precisely what it did 30 years ago, as backlash brewed against the women’s movement: It serves as an indictment of women who want. It neatly captures the absurdity of a culture that in one breath demands women do everything they can to “maintain” themselves and, in the next, mocks them for making the effort. She wears makeup? High-maintenance. She shops? High-maintenance. She’d prefer the turkey burger? High-maintenance."

I swear to god these people will literally fight tooth and nail to justify aging BEN up, most possibly for shipping reasons, but will turn around and not be fine with it as soon as it comes to Sally.

A detail I don't see mentioned about the confrontation between Blitzø and Stolas is that while Blitzø is understandably angry and lashing out, he also ends his rant with an invitation to Stolas, imploring, no, demanding he meet him at his level, to get as angry as he is, to FIGHT HIM, right then and there.
We've seen frequently that imps are violent in general, they're originally native to Wrath, and we see that most of their bonding rituals often involve violence and/or bodily harm (just look at how much Millie and Sallie May messed each other up at the end and while being able to laugh about it; a broken bottle fight and broken bones is their version of a light-hearted pillow fight)
While Blitzø is also very self-destructive, even by Hell's standards, it should be noted that he's technically begging for Stolas to connect with him in this moment, to speak a language he understands. "At least respect me enough to fight me! If you care, why walk away? Get real with me, if we can't get physical with our genitals, then at least let us get physical with our fists!"
Unfortunately, Stolas has had the exact opposite cultural upbringing, having been taught his whole life that emotional outbursts are unseemly and improper, so his main go-to for conflicts is avoidance. He avoided confrontation with his father, he basically avoided Stella as much as he could even when she was openly shitting on him at parties; and ONLY just recently has he managed to stand up for himself and when he finally does, it's not to strike back, but simply stand his ground for once, emboldened his new-found love for Blitzø and the knowledge that his daughter isn't fooled by the act anymore and will soon be of age anyway.
It is not currently in Stolas' nature to be confrontational the way Blitzø desperately needs him to be.
Blitzø says: "Please, if you ever actually cared, you'd fight for us Get mad, show me that you care!"
What Stolas hears is just the most literal interpretation with zero subtext, because he isn't attuned to the subtleties of arguing and especially not what it looks like for imps, i.e. he focuses on the "I always hated you" interpretation.
Both gave the other an opening, but only heard dismissal, because it wasn't spoken in a language they were familiar with.
I'm not saying either handled things well here, Blitzø shouldn't immediately respond with anger and Stolas shouldn't default to walking away, that's my whole point.
I just thought it was an interesting angle that their differences aren't just societal (privilege/wealth/respect) but also cultural in how it influences how they each handle emotional confrontation, or, in the case of Stolas, how they don't.

While we’re on the subject of names, is there an explanation for how traditional nicknames came about that are seemingly unrelated to, or have little in common with, the original name?
ie- John/Jack, Richard/Dick, Henry/Harry/Hank, Charles/Chuck, Margaret/Peggy/Daisy, Sarah/Sally, Mary/Molly, Anne/Nan, etc
I am actually over a week into researching a huge follow-up post (probably more than one if I’m being honest) about the history of nickname usage, so I will be going into this in much, much more detail at a hopefully not-so-later date - if I have not lost my mind. (Two days ago I spent three hours chasing down a source lead that turned out to be a typographical error from 1727 that was then quoted in source after source for the next 150 years.)
As a preview though, here’s some info about the names you mentioned:
The origins of a good portion of common English nicknames come down to the simple fact that people really, really like rhyming things. Will 🠞Bill, Rob🠞Bob, Rick🠞Dick, Meg🠞Peg.
It may seem like a weird reason, but how many of you have known an Anna/Hannah-Banana? I exclusively refer to my Mom’s cat as Toes even though her name is Moe (Moesie-Toesies 🠞 Toesies 🠞 Toes).
Jack likely evolved from the use of the Middle English diminutive suffix “-chen” - pronounced (and often spelled) “-kyn” or “kin”. The use of -chen as a diminutive suffix still endures in modern German - as in “liebchen” = sweetheart (lieb “love” + -chen).
John (Jan) 🠞 Jankin 🠞 Jackin 🠞 Jack.
Hank was also originally a nickname for John from the same source. I and J were not distinct letters in English until the 17th Century. “Iankin” would have been nearly indistinguishable in pronunciation from “Hankin” due to H-dropping. It’s believed to have switched over to being a nickname for Henry in early Colonial America due to the English being exposed to the Dutch nickname for Henrik - “Henk”.
Harry is thought to be a remnant of how Henry was pronounced up until the early modern era. The name was introduced to England during the Norman conquest as the French Henri (On-REE). The already muted nasal n was dropped in the English pronunciation. With a lack of standardized spelling, the two names were used interchangeably in records throughout the middle ages. So all the early English King Henrys would have written their name Henry and pronounced it Harry.
Sally and Molly likely developed simply because little kids can’t say R’s or L’s. Mary 🠞 Mawy 🠞 Molly. Sary 🠞 Sawy 🠞 Sally.
Daisy became a nickname for Margaret because in French garden daisies are called marguerites.
Nan for Anne is an example of a very cool linguistic process called rebracketing, where two words that are often said/written together transfer letters/morphemes over time. The English use of “an” instead of “a” before words beginning with vowels is a common cause of rebracketing. For example: the Middle English “an eute” became “a newt”, and “a napron” became “an apron”. In the case of nicknames the use of the archaic possessive “mine” is often the culprit. “Mine Anne” over time became “My Nan” as “mine” fell out of use. Ned and Nell have the same origin.
Oddly enough the word “nickname” is itself a result of rebracketing, from the Middle English “an eke (meaning additional) name”.
I realized earlier this week that my cat (Toe’s sister) also has a rebracketing nickname. Her name is Mina, but I call her Nom Nom - formed by me being very annoying and saying her name a bunch of time in a row - miNAMiNAMiNAM.
Chuck is a very modern (20th century) nickname which I’ll have to get back to you on as I started my research in the 16th century and am only up to the 1810s so far lol.
