Luke Castellan in the books was literally a Mighty Whitey, the superiority complex he had and leftism he uphoalded is something only a white man could have.A whole serial pedophile that exclusively liked underaged girls and treated boys of color he groomed into child soldiers for him like shit because he didn't wanna fuck them with his I Like Little Girls by Oingo Boingo ass yet thought he was so much better than the gods for giving into an even higher power and doing child abuse the 'justfied' way,ntm his constant talking down to combined with physical of assaults and even stalking to afrolatino legend Perseo 'Percy' 'Anarchism does not like to be restrained' Jackson as if Percy didn't clock the gods as the bad guys on first meetings because he'd been dealing with his own gods, authority figures, his whole life so he knew better on fighting them than him and knew how to love and help the people better too as he actually wanted to while ignoring any opportunities for vengeance since he's not nearly of A Dude™️ to go ooouuhhh woe is me my feelings father i crave violence. You could never make me believe Luke had good intentions at any point that got misenterpreted or was a marytr of the gods, that's Percy's entire character from start to finish babes, not Luke's.Y'all give that colonizer too much credit and it's all stolen from Percy because you want your radicalists aesthetic and palpable and not the victims of the system

Poseidon: The sea does not like to be restrained.
Percy: Ok.
Percy: *fights Ares's godly son, wins and scares him*
Percy: *fights Hades in his own domain, destroys his army and sends Hades fleeing*
Percy: *calls the Olympians out on their bullshit and forces them into an oath on the styx*
Percy: *falls into Tartarus and strangles Akhkys with her own poison*
Poseidon, cheering from the sidelines: I love him so much!! That's my favorite son!!
Poseidon, looking at Athena & Zeus: And if you even think of touching a hair on his head I'll show you who he gets those powers and fighting skills from.

How is canon Annabeth abusive?
You want a list?
Alright!
1. She constantly hits Percy. Kicking him in the shins, elbowing him in the ribs, punching him in the gut. Not to mention the judo flip scene. Also, this is never said to be done playfully whatsoever. And it's done constantly in EVERY book.
2. She always belittles and calls him stupid. Like his plans never work. Ha, they work more than hers! Also, the parallels of her calling him Seaweed Brain, when Gabe called him Brain Boy! Like how would you feel if you have a nickname constantly degrading your worst insecurities?! All the damn time! Not to mention Thalia, who Percy was the first person who helped her after she stopped being a tree, after spending the school year with Annabeth started calling Percy Kelp Head and viewing him as dumb. Annabeth who ignored Percy all this year, and was overall just selfish and mean when they met again.
3. Annabeth is so possessive of Percy. Even before they are dating (which doesn't make it any better when they are), Annabeth doesn't let Percy be friends with Rachel. Trying to drive a wedge between the two. And Percy, literally only has Grover and Annabeth for friends. He is so alone, he needs more friends! Oh, and then with Jason she interrupts the two of them chatting and trying to get along. Also, just how she doesn't like that Percy seems to like Camp Jupiter, like he can't seem to have his own differing plans from her.
4. Tartarus. Everything about that was so bad. Like in Tartarus, whom Percy fell down to FOR HER, Annabeth brings up Rachel because in her thoughts, she needs to keep her boyfriend on his toes. Like bitch! Then, we get to how she thinks Percy is so manipulative when he talks his way to get Bob to kill his brother. Like that isn't Annabeth's number 1 tactic. She's so fucking judgemental!
And then the scene with Akhlys in Tartarus. Where yes, Percy is being scary torturing this goddess who tried to poison them to death. But she just tried to kill them! He's saving their lives! And then, Annabeth makes Percy promise her to never use those powers again, because "Somethings aren't meant to be controlled." Like do you know how useful poison-bending could be to save lives? What difference does this make from using a sword to kill monsters when all of them are trying to kill and/or eat Demigods! Not to mention, if someone is poisoned, Percy could help heal them!
Next, because of how horrible Annabeth made Percy feel for using these powers he attempts suicide. After he gets out and faces Polybotes, who controls poison, he doesn't even try to save himself and says to Jason that he deserves to die by poison for what he did! He tried to kill himself! And Annabeth never talks to Percy about this again, and instead talks to Piper who thinks Percy needs to be restrained like he's some kind of monster when he was saving them! Percy is literally the most selfless and kind person out there. And Annabeth treats him like crap! She doesn't deserve him!
5. Percy isn't allowed to have bad thoughts on Luke. Luke, who's tried to kill him repeatedly since he was twelve! And in general, this ship is so toxic and codependent right now, it's in no way healthy.
Anyways sorry for my rant, but yeah Annabeth is abusive, and it's just so concerning how people possibly in elementary school are being exposed to this being a healthy relationship, where girlfriends can hit their boyfriends, and can stop them making friends with others, because they belong to them like some sort of object.
Yeah, I just relate to Percy so much, and I don't want him to deal with another Gabe.
Edit: Okay, for anyone who likes Annabeth or Percabeth, I don't care - you do you. You can like and dislike all the characters and ships you want, just as I can. So, if you disagree with what is said, that's fine, but don't expect me to change my stance when I have already pointed out several concerning behaviors. So, like good humans, we'll just have to agree to disagree and move on with our days.

remember the scene where Percy almost let’s himself die during the whole polyblotes fight under water cause he feels guilty about akhyls and opens up to Jason and Jason’s just like yeah i get it :( So what if Percy genuinely thought this was an issue and that Jason needed help? So he hunts down Piper first and is like
Percy: You need to look out for you bf
Piper: Wait why what happened?
Percy (trying to respect Jason’s privacy): He said some pretty concerning things
Then it slowly becomes a whole thing until they all decide to stage an intervention so when Jason wakes up late and sees all their solemn looks (and the fact that he’s not the earliest to be awake for once) he’s just like
Jason: Who died
No one speaks and Jason gets more frantic until-
Percy: We’re here to help you
Jason:???
Piper: We all love you and want you to be here
Jason: wtf is going on
And then everyone turns to Percy in confusion who’s trying to avoid talking about his whole breakdown in the first place so he’s like um.. well…
That’s how Percy finds out Jason is a drama queen who exaggerates

Can we just talked about how fucked up it was that Percy had to be the one to tell Nico about Bianca. Like we must remember yes Nico was a kid but Percy was too. Mans was literally THIRTEEN. Just Percy having Nico yelling and being upset at him then finding out he was a child of Hades and having to keep that in for Nico's safety while Nico was resenting him. And look Percy didn't even promise, we can see at the start Percy is already not sure if he can make sure Biance will make it. So he doesn't actually promise. Also like in like battle of the labyrinth Percy having to see Nico go from a happy kid obsessed with a game for CHILDREN to see him become this depressed person who just wants his sister back and doesn't even care about mythomagic is heart wrenching. Point is: Percy and Nico make me want to vomit out my insides but I love them and dear God someone just give them both a hug (Me to them: 🫂)

To Percy, Sally Jackson’s son.
Why do you stay with her?
When your bloody and bruised
When her pride almost gets you killed
Loyalty truly is a fatal flaw
Why do you smile?
Her lips are stained red
Her heart always beats for another
And you can never compare
Why do you let her use you?
Your achievements are hers
Your dreams useless to hers
Normality killed by the world she insists on making
Why do you let her mock you?
“Seaweed brain, all your plans are useless”
“Coward, admit your feelings for me before your reaped”
“It’s our ‘guy secret’ remember brain boy”
Why do you let her hurt you?
You’re stupid, a kick to the shins
Stop speaking, an elbow to the ribs
Don’t leave, a judo-flip where your mortal spot from Achilles’ curse once was
Will you die for her?
Worse, you’ll fall into Tartarus for her
Protecting her while she keeps you on your toes
Only to have to suffer and suppress yourself
How can others stand this?
Easy, you are a monster that needs to be restrained
So you try to kill yourself in poison she made you promise not to control
And Loyalty never knows abuse when it is absolute
To clarify, it’s Riordan’s Annabeth I don’t like, and when writing her, it will be as a friend, and her more extreme behavior is changed or addressed. Though, Percy is always my focus anyways. 😊

Does anyone else hate the nickname seaweed brain?
I think it would be fine if Annabeth also complimented him, but all we, as the reader see, is her making fun of him. I can't think of a single instance where she complimented him. And since the name came from a place of bullying, she should have stopped using it as soon as they became friends. Percy in canon has only called Annabeth wise girl like 4 times he pretty much dropped the name as soon as they became friends.
In canon, he did it cause he thought the nickname Annabeth gave him was clever, but I think that's wrong given what we know of his childhood. It came of him being mean, so he stopped.
It's fine to tease your partner. I tease mine all the time, but I also make sure he knows it's just that, teasing, I also compliment him the same amount because I know his insecurities.
Percy made an attempt to take on his life and Annabeth still makes fun of him.

Rambling about Percy's nonexistent masculinity for a bit:Percy isn't masculine, not healthily or positively masculine or even nonconformingly masculine, because she dosen't have any masculine traits but she is interpreted as masc out of gender stereotyping. Her interests are the sea, blue, punk culture, kiddy things and skateboarding and none of these hold masculinity to them and blue comes from her mom and the sea is actually pretty feminine(mermaids, pearls, calling ships 'she',the term 'Beach Bunny',the moon in folklore has a motif of feminine energy that's mistaken for masculine and it controls the tides, etc)and her attitude dosen't either and strong, bold and angry≠masc.Percy also rejects traditional mamhood at multiple points, casually in her insults to men for their machoism like her calling Ares ugly for being too manly and as a major plot point in The Titan's Curse as she strives to prove herself as unlike cis men to Zoe,and there's tons of subtext to indicate she's wanting to be feminine such as her constant admiration towards other women for being feminine and comparing her treatment of Nico, her platonic soulmate,to acting like her/a mom.The visceral reaction to trans femme Percy comes from the idea that femininity and especially girlhood on amab people and percieved as 'male presenting' people is inherently an insult or mockery or even 'a downgrade' from mascness and should only be accepted when used for gendered sexualization.Sorry but Percy canonically dosen't believe in that as a punk and not a poser or 'a nonthreatning goofy boy' so you can't apply it to her🤷🏽‍♀️She's also been refered to as straight but never as cis or even a straight boy specifically so there's no trans femme Percy debunks.Y'all hate to see Girl Percy Jackson winning smh

unpopular opinion: percy being scared of annabeth in their relationship stems more from his insecurity of being a bad boyfriend than any actual fear that he has of annabeth or any bad trait of annabeth herself.
imo it's coming from the same place of whenever he says "I thought annabeth was going to punch me, but she kissed me instead"

Concerning Snippets from PJO Chalice of the Gods
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Annabeth didn't give Percy any warning. Didn't talk to him. Didn't tell him what she was thinking and just pushed him off the edge, not even knowing if this water was breathable to Percy, AND since he wasn't even prepared he could have easy lost his hold on this important staff.
Tumblr media
Now he's fighting this unknown god, Elisson, who guess what wants to cause Percy pain.
Tumblr media
Yeah, Annabeth, what did you think was going to happen? Oh, wise one *sarcastic*. At least Percy thinks of more than himself and wants to keep his partner safe.
Tumblr media
Here Percy's been through the ringer, forced into this situation BY ANNABETH, and Annabeth, who is safe up on the cliff, is just tapping her wrist like it's a watch because she's impatient for her boyfriend to hurry up. Like girl, this god could kill Percy and has already hurt him, and this is how you react.
Look, I don't care if anyone likes Annabeth or not, but this kind of behavior, not to mention so many more things, is just so concerning to me. Percabeth is not a healthy relationship, and it never has been.
It's just so concerning that this is what been taught to as early as elementary school kids about what is a "healthy" relationship. Not to mention how many times Annabeth has elbowed Percy, kicked his shins, and calls him stupid. Let's not forget the judoflip in HOO either, where Annabeth puts her knee on Percy's chest and presses her forearm against his throat and tells him not to leave her, LIKE HE CHOSE TO BE KIDNAPPED. Instead of ya know, hugging him and telling him she loves him.

What’s your opinion on Octavian?
*inhales deeply*
OK SO I think Octavian didn't ever get enough writing to be an actual character. Sure, he was a character in the story, but he wasn't a PERSON. He did almost nothing wrong in my eyes. The pillowpet? Reyna and Hazel told him to, it was his job, and he had no Grudge on Percy(in fact, he was pretty tolerant to him).
And what happened in the battle with Gaea, what happened to him and how his death was written, is absolutely sickening. It was a horrible death. Imagine you got your shirt stuck in a Canon and you were LIT OF FIRE and flew into Gaea! And it's played off as comedic relief? What the hell.
There's a lot wrong with the writing. But my personal opinion? He's an amazing character with so much potential. And the fandom? Probably the best mini fandom I've ever seen. Like, the people in the fandom are the kindest, sweetest, funniest people I've ever met online. :]]

will never understand why people think annabeth throwing percy was ok.
annabeth who is supposed to be smart, victim blames percy, her boyfriend! knowing he was kidnapped, got his memory wiped, and was put in a coma for 6 or 9 months, all hera's doing. (all of which she knew!) on top of that, instead of trying to make peaceful negotiation with the romans, who were being openly hostile at the time, decides to flip one of their leaders on his back in front of all of them, and then put her forearm on his throat. if percy hadn't laughed and defused the situation, the romans would have taken that as an act of war.
I don't care how many times you say that percy and annabeth have spared and she knew how to do it without hurting him, no. that type of behavior is not ok.
