Only two weeks in, but it's been a busy month so far. First to note-- Edwardian Ball! Despite losing my phone for nearly the entirety of Friday night (safely recovered at the last minute on my way out!), I had a wonderful time again this year!

Sadly not as many sketches as I'd like for the first night (lost-phone stress), but am pleased that I could lay down some ink on the second night, especially since it was the "Founders Farewell" 😢 Twas Rosin Coven's last time headlining/performing at the Ball apparently and I definitely got a touch teary eyed at the end of their set on Saturday night. As mentioned last year, I've been attending and sketching since 2008. Captured a number of the band members this year (5 of 8?), warming up as I went.

Will definitely miss them and a number of the classic tunes they play every year, but also understand that not everything is forever. Fingers crossed I see some of them in the years to come as they pursue future projects. Speaking of which-- was delighted to see/hear Robin Coomer on Friday, who I immediately recognized from her Loop!Station days.

And to remember that new and good things are still around-- I caught the John Brothers Piano Company early on Saturday night and LOVED the performance! Amazing energy! Got to fan girl briefly at clarinet/piano fellow at the end of the night and look forward to catching their next show March 17th (Saint Patrick's Day) at the Ivy Room in Albany, CA!

omg I'm sorry for how long this reply has taken, this was such a good question and it sure took me for a spin! I've fallen through so many Spotify rabbit holes trying to come up with a good answer for you. (genuinely thank you! I found a lot of cool stuff along the way!)

in honour of the live-action Osomatsu-san movie's 1st anniversary (and it having a fansub now) I thought I'd share its soundtrack, composed by the anime's own Yukari Hashimoto! in my opinion, and with no exaggeration whatsoever, this is the best soundtrack she's ever done for the franchise - the film is a whirlwind of genre parodies and each one gets the same care and attention as Osomatsu-san's own comedy, with a staggering variety of styles but a consistent quality level that lends the movie a similar comedic "voice" to the anime despite the different cast and crew

also it's 69 minutes long. nice

some things i learned about takeuchi-san recently!!!!:

joyrides on motorcycles!!! he’s also knowledgeable enough to recommend brands and builds for beginners

grew up in the vkei era of j-rock and j-pop, but when he started being cognisant of his music taste, he drifted to jazz and oldies rock

played guitar in his youth and has recently picked it back up!!!!!
