The lab rat uniform: loose, drab, hanging on whumpee's frame like it doesn't feel comfortable there

Bloodstained, soiled clothing, the result of experimentation

Whumpee left naked in their cell as their uniform is washed

Whumpee arriving at the lab facility as a new subject and realizing that whumper will be experimenting on them, not with tools and drugs, but with dark magic

Inhuman whumpees losing whatever shreds of humanity they might have had as time and experiments continue and they're treated more and more like animals

Or, conversely, inhuman whumpees that become more human and exhibit more human emotions as they're mistreated

Whumpee forgetting their own name because they're only referred to by a subject number

Disorientation from drugs/experiment aftermath

Whumpee's sleep, the only time they're alone, being disrupted by nightmares about what's been done to them

Or, a whumpee who's never left alone, always watched, always under observation of some kind

Whumpee's skin slowly turning into a scarred, chaotic mess from cuts/syringes/injections, etc.

Whumpee seeing their own distress and pain mirrored in the glimpsed faces of other lab rats in the facility

Whumpee learning to see themself as nothing but a test subject

Bandages, sterile gauze, sterile lights, sterile everything

Whumpee being overwhelmed when they catch a glimpse of life outside the lab when visitors arrive

Waking up after an experiment, seeing bloodied instruments and wondering groggily what terrible thing whumper could have done to them now

Learning to damage their own body to foil whumper's plans

Whumpee becoming desensitized to whumper's drugs and needing higher and higher doses for them to work

No longer recognizing their own body after recovering from whumper's last experiment

Whumper leading lab rat whumpee to a mirror, after intentionally keeping them away, and letting them see how pathetic they've become

Or, whumpee looking in a mirror and realizing that whumper has turned them into a monster

Whumpee deciding that it's too late for them and they might as well embrace what they've become

Thinking about Gortash being shaped by his time in the House of Hope.

Purposefully mimicking Raphael's accent and manner of speaking, elegant, sophisticated, confident, to disguise his own working class roots and mingle with the Gate's upper class. Matching Raphael's demeanor, his posture, the way he negotiates his deals and flatters his clients. Even the theatrics, to an extent. Raphael is a consummate showman, and from him Gortash learns that presentation is key to manipulating people's perceptions to his own ends.

His views on sex don't differ too much from Harleep's, if Lady Jannath's note is any indication. Sex is just a tool, a commodity, currency that can be used to manipulate people and gain favours. He has no issues with selling his body, as long as the price is right.

As much as he hates the Nubaldin, he also learns from him. Each blow, each cut, each excruciating form of torture gets committed to mind. What worked, what didn't, how did each one feel. It's all knowledge in the end, and if he so wants it, it's his to use.

His own belief and devotion to Bane, God of Tyranny, his desire for absolute order and control, and lawful evil alignment could be linked back. Devil's are famously hierarchical creatures, who believe in order (in opposition to demons who embrace chaos), and the rule of the strong over the weak. Know who is a famous, scheming, sweet-talking tyrant in d&d lore? Old Hoof and Horns himself, Asmodeus, Devil in Chief.

Even his disregard of Karlach's optimism, generosity and good heart. The only truly "good" person young Gortash ever met was Hope, a captive of Raphael tortured for years for refusing to renounce her principles. Her sister Korilla, instead chose to serve Raphael and is thriving, free to come and go as she wishes, granted warlock powers by Raphael, living her best evil life.

okay inspired by another prompt but-

A prince that acts all high and mighty and well to do and overly confident. Someone - maybe a noble, or maybe a commoner, could be anyone that doesn't live in the palace with him - decides they hate his attitude and wants to take him down a notch or ten, so they kidnap him with full intent to torture him.

They get him somewhere alone, toss him around a bit. The prince's behavior has changed like the flip of a switch. His confidence and regal bearing is gone, replaced with cowering and feeble, half-formed pleas and teary eyes. The kidnapper thinks it's just an act to get them to let him go, and they get even angrier about it, so of course they take their anger out on him.

At some point they do strip him down...only to find the evidence of past abuse. Not anything simple either, nothing that could be caused by accidents. His clothes covered whip marks and scars, old and new. And an intricate pattern of brands spanning his shoulders, which looked to be a piece still be in progress.

The prince's change in behavior makes a bit more sense, but does the kidnapper actually care? Or maybe they feel vindicated, believing they're not the only one who thinks the prince needs a behavior adjustment.

The whumper would count every injury they inflicted on the whumpee- sure, some left permanent reminders, but many faded, and the whumper wanted to remember. The whumper had even started to make injuries far more severe- they wanted proof that they had injured the whumpee, they wanted scars in every inch of their skin.

Cub comes to scar asking if he'd let him hammer in a few nails in his spine and scar is immediately on board.
