My collection is small and personal. I have never purchased a bottle because of anyone 😏.... Every single bottle has a story. There’s a reason for every single one that own because as you guys know I refuse to blind buy .. still won’t change in 2018 .... yes I review and no I will never purchase a full bottle of anything just to review that I will not wear .. Fragrance of the Month: Givenchy Gentleman

As soon as I felt the weather in New York beginning to shift (on one of my very short breaks from touring,) I got excited for what it meant...a new fragrance. Going from cold weather to slightly less cold weather. On a day off in Latvia (or maybe it was Lithuania. Three countries in three days really fucks with your memory,) I decided to make a day of going out and exploring some scents I hadn’t gotten into yet. I contemplated going back to something I’d worn in the spring before--perhaps Dolce & Gabbana--but decided I should branch out this time. And as tour money has been flowing into my bank account the past few months, I decided to experience a bit of luxury. In I stepped to a fragrance shop in the shopping center near our hotel. I was immediately greeted by a wall of all of my favorite brands. Armani. Hugo Boss. Dolce & Gabbana. Mont Blanc. I was in heaven. I spotted the tester strips and where to discard them and was off to the races.

I must’ve been sniffing around for a good half hour, fantasizing about being the kind of man that would not just wear, but embody certain fragrances. Dolce’s “Light Blue” always makes me think of a tanned, toned, topless man swimming in the Mediterranean, only to later flit off to a beachside restaurant with more beautiful people and lots of white wine, smiles abound. Dior’s “Fahrenheit” brought to mind a man in a perfectly-tailored black suit, sipping bourbon in his high-rise apartment and looking out over the city, poised to conquer New York’s beauty in all his cavalier, handsome glory. And then I found it.

Givenchy “Gentleman.” A classic.

It smelled like 1974 (the year it was founded) in only the best ways. It smelled distinguished and relaxed at the same time. My wild imagination fluttered to more than one instance where this scent would be a perfect memory. That ultimate moment of cool when you see someone staring and wink as you walk by, only to leave them basking longingly in the breeze of the fragrance you sprayed on just before heading out. Or maybe you’re out for dinner with some supremely sweet arm candy and a few friends, and amongst the laughs you feel your dad snuggle up against your arm and nuzzle their nose into your neck, trying to hold on to that moment forever. Or perhaps you’re thinking of how someone will feel when your scent is left on their bed sheets long-after you’ve gone. That was it. I had to have it.

It was well worth the $70 or so I paid for it. And I still hop out of the shower every day, ready to spritz this little bit of sex on and feel like everyone’s eyes (and noses) are on me for the best reason. This fragrance exudes confidence and, in my opinion, it’s tone is both warm and fresh and will serve as a perfect transition from the chill of winter to the cool rains of spring. And I’m sure it’ll make you love the rainy days.
