Shri Venkateshwara University hosted a seminar to discuss the importance of the new criminal laws that became effective on July 1st, 2024.

The School of Law at Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute hosted a one-day seminar on the importance of New Criminal Law 2023, aiming to educate students about the recent criminal laws implemented on July 1st, 2024.

University Professors, lawmakers & judges from different parts of the country explained the significance of new criminal laws & their application in today’s time.

A dozen law experts from Lucknow, Meerut, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Delhi & Bhopal took part in the seminar.

The Venkateshwara Group Founder President Dr Sudhir Giri, CG & District Judge Mr. Zafeer Ahmed, & the Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati.

The CJM Mr. Ompal Singh, VC Dr Krishna Kant Dave, Lawmaker Prof. Sanjeev Chadda, & Prof Hari Shankar Rai Senior Prof Meerut College joined them to unveil the seminar on the Importance of New Criminal Law 2023.

District Judge  & Chief Guest Mr. Zafeer Ahmed asserted old criminal laws devised by the British gave the benefit of doubt to the culprit & harassed victims by delaying justice to them.

The new criminal laws will provide speedy justice to the victims, ultimately increasing their trust in the judiciary.

Meerut College Professor & Keynote Speaker Dr HS Rai affirmed the new criminal laws will provide speedy justice to the victims, which will increase their trust in the judicial system.

Dr Sanjeev Kumar Chaddha HOD Law, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Central Law University, emphasized that the old criminal laws would harass the common man and favoured organized criminals by giving them the benefit of doubt.

Further, they failed to provide speedy and timely justice to the victims.

Those present included the Dean of Law faculty, Dr Rajwardhan, Dr Shyam Lal, Dr Samir Dwivedi, Ashok Kumar & Muskan Gangwar.

LUCKNOW: In a decisive effort to confront the growing wave of cybercrimes, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled an all-encompassing strategy aimed at fortifying the state's cybersecurity infrastructure. During a recent review meeting, the Chief Minister revealed plans to establish dedicated cybercrime police stations in all 75 districts of the state. Additionally, the existing cyber cells at the district level will be elevated to the status of fully-fledged cybercrime stations.

Enhancing the Cyber Sentinel Network

Chief Minister Adityanath stressed the need for a robust and multi-layered response to the proliferation of cybercrimes. Currently, cybercrime police stations operate at the regional level, but this new initiative aims to extend their presence to every district in the state. Concurrently, cyber cells will be integrated into each police station, forming a cohesive network to combat cyber threats at the grassroots level. This initiative is set to result in the establishment of 57 new cybercrime stations within the next two months.

In a significant move, Chief Minister Adityanath of Lucknow has underscored the pivotal role of awareness in preventing cybercrime. His visionary proposal involves the integration of cyber security education into the school curriculum, recognizing its essential role in modern education. To bring this idea to fruition, a network of master trainers will educate principals, teachers, students, and parents, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the potential risks associated with online activities.

Empowering the Guardians of Cyberspace

In acknowledgment of the pressing need for a well-equipped police force to combat the growing menace of cybercrimes, Chief Minister Adityanath has laid out a comprehensive training plan. His directive entails the training of five police officers from each district at the state level. These trained officers will then serve as instructors, imparting their knowledge to five inspectors or sub-inspectors from each police station, utilizing the resources available on the Citren portal. Captain Prem Mathur: The First Indian Woman To Be A Commercial Pilot

It was the era of pre independence. Women were still subjected to be chained by the responsibilities of the family and hardly encouraged to participate in public affairs. The societal structure had patriarchy imposed upon the freedom of women in various forms unrestricted them from receiving education and pursuing their dreams. Aviation was a male dominated area just like any other field. • Early Life:

She was born in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh in 1924. She was the youngest among the five children and lost her mother at the age of six months. She completed her schooling from Annie Besant School in Allahabad and pursued higher secondary studies from Ewing Christian College. She completed her Bachelors from Allahabad University.

• Sowing Seeds Of Dream:

After the World War 2 ended Mathur's elder brother bought old aircrafts used in the war to sell them to Lanka Flying Club. Captain Atal of the Delhi Flying Club got hired to transport this product to Colombo. It was him, who had encouraged Prem to let her dreams soar high.

Thinking she is a docile woman, Captain Atal gave her a ride of the aircraft and displayed all the aerobatic procedures he knew, to scare her off. Mathur, however, successfully failed to let him succeed in carrying out his intention and showed enthusiasm throughout the session and requested for the same again. In the next ride, she received the controls and instructions to fly the aircraft. Upon their return, she found a piece of paper, where he had written, “You are a tough woman. You can become a pilot. Why don’t you try?” Mathur decided to follow her passion.

• Beginning Of Her Career:

Captain Atal got appointed as an instructor in the Lucknow Flying Club on October 1948. She was his first student. Prem would go to cycling for hours and at in her training everyday sincerely. Soon, she was capable to fly solo without instruction. Her enthusiasm, added fuel to her determination to ace at her task and encouraged her to broaden horizons to explore her talent.

In 1949, Lucknow Flying Club got an invitation for the National Air Race to be held in Calcutta. When she showed her eagerness to take part in it, asking for an aeroplane, she was discouraged on the grounds that all others were men with ‘high experience' in their fields. In spite of sexist remarks to keep her off the competition and underestimate her resolve, she did manage to get hold of a flight owing to her firm persistence. The plane was a small one with a capacity of 10-11 gallons of petrol for covering a distance of about 3500 miles. The race required her to travel from Barrackpur to Jamshedpur, from there to Asansol and finally from Asansol to Calcutta. Her father’s words of encouragement boosted her morals further when he asked her to remember that, ‘a person only dies once.’

In those days, radio was not available and using maps was the only way to make it to the preferred destination. Prem effectively used the Maps and reached Patna. It was dark by then and she had no experience of flying at night whatsoever. Yet she stayed on her track without any sense of fright and successfully landed in Calcutta, the next morning, where she received congratulatory greetings along with amazed gestures towards her successful attempt.

Two days later the race was held, and Prem Mathur left behind all her competitors and reached each of the required destinations first. It was rare moment to see somebody with an experience of 100 hours of flying defeating adept participants. Overnight, she was raised to the status of a public figure and her achievement arrested the attention of almost all the newspapers. Appreciations were showered from the likes of Vijay Lakshmi Pandit, General Cariappa, Pundit Govind Ballabh Pant, Lal Bahadur Shastri.

• Captain Prem Mathur:

Prem travelled to Delhi to prepare for her commercial pilot licence test. She lost her elder brother in an accident meanwhile but remained undeterred from her goal and completed her course with the constant help and words of encouragement from her father. Her hard work paid off when she became the first woman to be be the commercial pilot in India. It was, unfortunately, the beginning of her struggles. She got mansplained about how the job of instructor was fit for her but she demanded to join an airline. Eight airline companies rejected her citing the reason of men being uncomfortable with the female pilot. These segregational attitude she received, however couldn’t stop her and she continued trying.

Finally, she got appointed as a co-pilot in Hyderabad for six months, unpaid in Deccan Airways. In her interview, she got asked a few technical questions and also how she would manage with the men during the night halts. She assured them with the response that they definitely wouldn’t regret hiring her. During this period, she flew eminent personalities like Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Lady Mountbatten. However, she couldn’t endure the patriarchal environment at the workplace for long. Deccan Airways had refused to give her command as a pilot, stating “If they know the pilot is a woman they will run away.”

She left Deccan Airways and took the job of a pilot in a private jet of G.D Birla. In 1953, she joined the Indian Airlines, which was a compilation of eight pre-independence domestic airlines, making India the first country to appoint a female pilot in their IATA (International Air Transport Association) Airlines Ltd. She took her retirement in 1984.

Prem Mathur passed away in 1992. Her determination, courage, resilience, strength and hard work continue to inspire women who dream of navigating the sky. She thoroughly challenged the socially accepted signs of femininity and demonstrated that woman are equally capable of engaging in whichever pursuits they like.

ASER Report 2019: Learning level of kids grim in Lucknow, Varanasi - education

The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2019 paints a grim picture of learning levels in Lucknow and Varanasi. The survey observed that class 3 kids --46.2% in Lucknow and 45.9% in Varanasi—could not read or recognise 1-100 numbers.In this report, focus was on the early years, reporting on the schooling status as well as on a range of important developmental indicators for young children in 4-8 age group.The nationwide report was prepared on the basis of survey conducted in 26 districts across 24 states including Lucknow and Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh. The survey covered a total of 1,514 villages, 30,425 households and 36,930 children in the age group of 4-8 years, said an official.LUCKNOWIn the hub where all plans to provide better education are conceptualised, picture is not so rosy as 28.1% class 1 kids are not able to identify even 1-9 numbers while just over 47% fail to recognise 1-100 numbers. Only 46.7% of class 2 kids could recognise 1-100 numbers but 14.7% children failed to identify 1-9 numbers. The survey also observed that 53.9% class 3 and 75% class 2 children in Lucknow could not read class 1 texts.VARANASIIn Varanasi, 45.9% class 3 children do not recognise the numbers till 99 while 31.2% class 1 children could not recognise 1-9 numbers in the district. Only 16.8% class 1 children could not read even a letter, the survey observed. As per the survey, 46.5% class 3 and 58% class 2 children in Varanasi could not read class 1 texts.Happiness most identified emotion among kids in Lko, Varanasi88.4 % 8-year-old, 83.8% 7-year-old, 80.6% 6-year-old children, 79.5% 5-year-old children and 76.4% 4-yr-old children in Lucknow identified happiness emotions. Fortunate 40 – A social initiative by FIITJEE to help the economically weak students

New Delhi: As social initiative taken by FIITJEE, for training IIT – JEE aspirants it’s Fortunate 40 admission test will be conducted nation-wide on February 3, 2019. The program financially supports capable Students soon going to class IX and XI and whose total parental income is less than Rs. 10,000/- per month. FIITJEE supports these meritorious Students in their preparation for achieving their dream goal, by awarding 100% scholarships for FIITJEE program & 100% waiver on hostel charges. For Integrated School Program the school fee will be charged from the student (at some locations scholarship on school fee may also be awarded). The Fortunate 40 batch for each program, at each location, will have a maximum of 40 Students only. Despite financial constraints many students in the past got selected through FIITJEE’s Fortunate 40 and pursued their dream to become IITians. Through FIITJEE’s Fortunate 40 Test MSK Manohar from Vijayawada got the opportunity to enrol in FIITJEE’s PINNACLE program and coupled with his hard work and FIITJEE’s coaching, he went on to achieve AIR 5 in JEE Advanced, 2018. “My father worked as a tailor and in such a scenario it was mere dream to even think of IIT. When my dream was on the verge of getting doomed, I appeared for the FIITJEE’s Fortunate 40 Test and was offered PINNACLE – Two Year Integrated School Program with 100% scholarship.
