greetings Blood Meridian tumblr,, at least one person was interested in seeing my OC and i decided to draw her out.

so here’s Sanna. (temporary place holder name)

i made her for an almost au, almost fan made prequel idea i had. inspired by the early explorations of the Arctic where it goes wrong and the men become stuck in the ice during a particular harsh Winter and Judge Holden is a part of the group. (this takes place sometime during either the early 1800s or late 1700s, before Blood Meridian)

he later reveals to one of the men, one of the only ones remaining, that the only reason he even went on the voyage was to capture a native woman who has apparently been ‘causing’ other explorers to become stuck and also thriving in the Arctic environment. Judge Holden wants to capture her and ‘study’ why she’s able to thrive while they’re humiliated by the environment. turns out she’s the embodiment of nature and the wilderness and the needle fingered cold and the human made cruelty of nature, who could’ve known??

and to make up for the fact this is tagged with the main tag and only features an oc and not a canon character, i’ll make up for by sharing the time i got paranoid over Judge Holden late at night under the cut. enjoy!!!!

anyways here’s some character inspiration that helped me build dr kelley<333 and also for the masses to get to know her better :3

Amy Dunne - I watched Gone Girl and read the book and I adored how much of a psychopath Amy was. Her strive to perfection and her constant adaptation to becoming more and more “perfect” in her own eyes to the point it puts her husband and other people at stake was probably the craziest thing I’ve seen and I love her for it. Dr. Kelley is like that in the sense she will become ruthless in order to reach these impossible standards of perfection she holds both to herself and other people.

Dr. Clef - She was my SCP OC before she was my VTM OC and Dr. Clef’s character played a major role. They don’t have anything much in common personality wise, but she makes herself an enigma to protect her reputation and make sure no one knows what else she might do or say.

Anton Chigurh - Both characters are devoid of remorse—though Dr. Kelley still does have a bit of cognitive empathy as she recognizes that she needs to understand people to uphold her reputation. Dr. Kelley never threatens people much like Anton Chigurh, her acts of violence being silent and clean.

GLaDOS - Dr. Kelley is often passive aggressive towards people she looks down upon, which is most people. She’s hates people that don’t have the drive to be smarter or more knowledgeable. Probably the biggest influence on Dr. Kelley’s character because basically the entire foundation of Dr. Kelley’s character is her motivation for a surprisingly sincere passion of medicine and human anatomy which is based of off GLaDOS’ own passion for science :3

Mother Miranda - Both are exceptionally intelligent but both of them have a fatal flaw: their arrogance. Their explosive anger comes after playing calm for far too long, which then causes dangerous shit to happen

Lorraine Broughton - Kind of a new one since I just watched Atomic Blonde and they’re both ENTJs so that’s what they have going on for them!!!! ^_^ They’re both stoic in the terms they don’t let anyone see who they really are. For Dr. Kelley, vulnerability repulses her to the point she finds any form of emotional weakness of her disgusting and that “only humans should feel this way” and other kindred are like okay damn. Both are assertive strategists who are directo and don’t play when it comes to getting shit done💗

Loving fictional characters is entirely harmless. They’re Selfshippers. They aren’t becoming “mentally ill” because their fictional other isn’t real. And someone you’re following literally is a Selfshipper, and is in love with a fictional character.

“Vent post” or not that was very inconsiderate and harmful of you to post. You don’t know what those people are going through. Loving fictional characters romantically could be a coping mechanism for them, or an escape from reality.

i think people's takes on jev being this like thousand year old creatura are fascinating and fit even my interpretation of his character and place in the story (as like. a representation of the setting at large. an archaic force being shoved into a simulation/loop/machine. cosmis horror kinda shit) but i also think it's 1. funnier 2. scarier 3. more emotionally scarring to imagine him as like. a 30, 40, 50 year old man. just a quirky little guy. he had a childhood, maybe he got picked up by seam as an urchin and they were a travelling magic act and clownery and judy n punch duo and they stole apples from the market and he climbed trees w his little paws before someone made him wear shoes. he was a brash teenager and he played the accordion and kept all of his trinkets in a little chest he used to sleep in. seam made his suits, from his own crayon drawings. he was a middle aged man disenchanted with his work and he sought shelter from the boredom in bothering others. and he ran away so many times and he slept outside and he helped seam make their own beer and mead and they still played the accordion and the hurdy-gurdy together. isn't it scarier to make him a normal man? who turns into what we see? doesn't that hurt more doesn't that make his character even deeper. he was just like you and this means That can happen to you too, grounding stuff like that is like one of the basic rules of horror. and then he just goes to jail they straight up lock a mentally ill guy with all those horrors in the basement - not an old-as-time-itself demon, not a savage beast, but. a man. jevil russian sleep experiment au.

hey man i cant actually see what that first one is without squinting. it just looks like a bunch of dots. and yeah, that one sure is esoteric (its visually something and doesnt quite fit with the rest of the symbols)

what is with the variable line weight? and amida.. honey. what is going on inside your eye? it might just be me but that looks more like a circle of blades than light rays. i greatly approve of how the eye lashes make you look like a sun though 👍 and also i just love the fire in eye symbolism for all of them.

these are just plain sexy. 10/10. basically no notes.
