Understanding Amazon Review Scraping With Python And BeautifulSoup

In the digital age, data is king, and for e-commerce businesses, customer reviews on platforms like Amazon are invaluable insights into consumer preferences and sentiments. However, manually sorting through thousands of reviews can be a daunting task. This is where the art of review scraping comes into play, and with the right tools and techniques, you can master this process efficiently.
In this blog post, we'll explore the art of scraping Amazon reviews using Python and Beautiful Soup, unlocking the potential for extracting and analyzing valuable data.
What are Amazon Reviews Scraping?
Amazon reviews scraping means automatically extracting and collecting reviews from Amazon's product pages using web scraping techniques. This tool goes through the website's code, finds the reviews, and pulls out important stuff like who wrote the review, how many stars they gave, what they said, and when they wrote it. It's handy for getting lots of reviews all at once. But it's important to remember to use this tool responsibly and follow the rules set by Amazon and the law.
Amazon Reviews Scraping Using Python follows a process that includes sending requests to the review pages, understanding the webpage's structure, and then extracting desired information such as reviewer names, ratings, and comments. It's akin to teaching a computer to navigate Amazon's website and gather review data without the need for manual interaction.
Why to Scrape Amazon Reviews?
Scraping Amazon review data gives organizations significant information about customer preferences, market trends, and product demand in certain categories. Companies that collect many reviews can evaluate customer feedback to better understand what drives purchase choices and impacts consumer behavior.
Market Research
By scraping Amazon reviews, we learn much about what people like and desire in various items. This allows businesses to understand the market better and determine what customers want. Knowing this allows organizations to better plan their strategy for attracting the proper customers.
Product Development
By reading and scraping Amazon customer reviews, businesses may receive suggestions for improving their products. They may discover which features clients desire and what needs to be improved and even generate new product ideas. This allows them to create items that are tailored to the specific needs and preferences of their clients.
Content Creation
Amazon reviews provide valuable insights from genuine customers. Scraping Amazon customer reviews and evaluations can inspire businesses to develop marketing material, such as customer success stories or examples of how the product benefitted someone. This type of material can help clients trust the brand more.
Price Optimization
Analyzing Amazon reviews can help firms determine optimal pricing for their items. Companies may establish prices that earn money while remaining appealing to customers by studying how they react to varied rates. This helps them remain competitive in the market.
Product Development
Amazon reviews scraping provide valuable feedback for product development. Based on customer feedback, businesses may discover feature requests, areas for development, and potential new product ideas, allowing them to improve their product offerings and better suit the requirements and preferences of consumers.
Content Creation
Customers often provide useful ideas and experiences in reviews. Scraping Amazon customer reviews and evaluations can motivate the development of marketing content like testimonials, case studies, or user tales, all of which can assist potential buyers in creating trust.
Challenges Faced While Scraping Amazon Review Data

Scraping Amazon customer reviews helps to understand what customers think about the goods they buy. This helps us understand if a product is good or if there are problems with it.
On the other hand, Amazon reviews scraping using Python comes with its own set of challenges:
Anti-Scraping Steps
IP filtering and CAPTCHAs are two of the steps that Amazon has put in place to stop website scraping. Because of this, it is more challenging for automated systems to access and get data from Amazon sites.
Dynamic Website Structure
Because Amazon constantly modifies the look and feel of its website, it might be difficult to keep scraping programs up to date because they could malfunction or stop working.
Rate Limiting and Throttling
In order to slow down and reduce the efficiency of the scraping process, Amazon may place a restriction on the total number of requests a scraper may make in a given period of time.
Detection and Blocking
Amazon is vigilant in protecting its website against scraping activities. They use advanced algorithms to detect and block scraping attempts. These algorithms can identify patterns commonly associated with automated scraping tools, such as high-frequency requests or predictable browsing behavior.
Complex HTML Markup
Amazon's product sites use sophisticated HTML structures that include dynamic content, JavaScript, and nesting tags. This intricacy makes retrieving useful information reliably and effectively difficult for scrapers. Scrapers must crawl through levels of nested HTML elements to find and extract the needed data, which necessitates advanced parsing algorithms and strong error-handling procedures.
Furthermore, Amazon constantly alters its website structure and markup, demanding ongoing maintenance and tweaking of scraping programs to ensure continuing performance.

Amidst this plethora of offerings, product reviews serve as guiding stars, illuminating the path for prospective buyers. Harnessing the insights embedded within these reviews can provide businesses with a competitive edge, offering invaluable market intelligence and consumer sentiment analysis.
In the realm of data acquisition, web scraping emerges as a potent tool, empowering businesses to extract structured data from the labyrinthine expanse of the internet. When it comes to Amazon product review data scraping, this technique becomes particularly indispensable, enabling businesses to glean actionable insights from the vast repository of customer feedback.
Understanding Amazon Product Review Data Scraping
Amazon product review data scraping involves the automated extraction of reviews, ratings, and associated metadata from Amazon product pages. This process typically entails utilizing web scraping tools or custom scripts to navigate through product listings, access review sections, and extract relevant information systematically.
The Components of Amazon Product Review Data:
Review Text: The core content of the review, containing valuable insights, opinions, and feedback from customers regarding their experience with the product.
Rating: The numerical or star-based rating provided by the reviewer, offering a quick glimpse into the overall satisfaction level associated with the product.
Reviewer Information: Details such as the reviewer's username, profile information, and sometimes demographic data, which can be leveraged for segmentation and profiling purposes.
Review Date: The timestamp indicating when the review was posted, aiding in trend analysis and temporal assessment of product performance.
The Benefits of Amazon Product Review Data Scraping
1. Market Research and Competitive Analysis:
By systematically scraping Amazon product reviews, businesses can gain profound insights into market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor performance. Analyzing the sentiment expressed in reviews can unveil strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within the market landscape, guiding strategic decision-making processes.
2. Product Enhancement and Innovation:
Customer feedback serves as a treasure trove of suggestions and improvement opportunities. By aggregating and analyzing product reviews at scale, businesses can identify recurring themes, pain points, and feature requests, thus informing product enhancement strategies and fostering innovation.
3. Reputation Management:
Proactively monitoring and addressing customer feedback on Amazon can be instrumental in maintaining a positive brand image. Through sentiment analysis and sentiment-based alerts derived from scraped reviews, businesses can swiftly identify and mitigate potential reputation risks, thereby safeguarding brand equity.
4. Pricing and Promotion Strategies:
Analyzing Amazon product reviews can provide valuable insights into perceived product value, price sensitivity, and the effectiveness of promotional campaigns. By correlating review sentiments with pricing fluctuations and promotional activities, businesses can refine their pricing strategies and promotional tactics for optimal market positioning.
Ethical Considerations and Best Practices
While Amazon product review data scraping offers immense potential, it's crucial to approach it ethically and responsibly. Adhering to Amazon's terms of service and respecting user privacy are paramount. Businesses should also exercise caution to ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations, such as the GDPR.
Moreover, the use of scraped data should be guided by principles of transparency and accountability. Clearly communicating data collection practices and obtaining consent whenever necessary fosters trust and credibility.
Conclusion
Amazon product review data scraping unlocks a wealth of opportunities for businesses seeking to gain a competitive edge in the dynamic e-commerce landscape. By harnessing the power of automated data extraction and analysis, businesses can unearth actionable insights, drive informed decision-making, and cultivate stronger relationships with their customers. However, it's imperative to approach data scraping with integrity, prioritizing ethical considerations and compliance with regulatory frameworks. Embraced judiciously, Amazon product review data scraping can be a catalyst for innovation, growth, and sustainable business success in the digital age.

Unethical fur farms, Yarn tails and Faux fur
It's a little alarming that people may not know about cruelty fur farms and unethical fur tails, so I'll put my little guide on how I usually spot them. I'll also have a little section comparing faux fur, yarn tails and real tails.
How to spot Unethically sourced fur
Everything I know is by my experience, as well as research I have done via youtube videos. Thorn from Therian Territiory has an excellent video talking about the subject, (Click Here) But I will summerise below if you want to get straight to the point.
A key feature I find when it comes to unethical tails is this goddamn golden keychain

I have 4 tails with this keychain and all of them are of varying quality - however I don't doubt they are from unethical fur farms.
Another key detail is The tail is thin, the fur brittle and the leather has not been scraped correctly, meaning there is fat from the animal it once came from. Have you ever bought a tail, looking at the leather within and there has been yellow patches? That is animal fat that should have been scraped away.
I avoid buying from Chinese or Korean sellers as that is usually where unethical fur comes from, there are very little rights to animals within these countries, so there is no guarantee the animal had a good life before being killed. As stated earlier, Thorn goes into detail on this subject, although I must warn you the contents He speaks about are quite upsetting.
I would also avoid buying from Amazon, temu, wish, shein and Ebay, as the tails bought from these sites are usually of questionable Quality.
So, where can I buy ethical fur from...?
I highly recommend Etsy, Always check the reviews from sellers - check how thin the tail is and check for that pesky key chain. As a personal caution, beware of cheap tails as there is a good chance they are drop shipped from unethical fur farms, I'd bought a cheap tail from a sale here in Australia (With the golden keychain) and the tail was sadly not great Quality...So always check for that keychain. I hear people can buy tails from Renfaires, oddity and taxidermy markets.
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
Authentic fur vs Yarn tails vs Faux Fur
I've seen there's quite a debate on which is the best to buy and best for the enviroment. I'm sure all of you have your reasons for swinging this way or that way, so I'll just list some pros and cons
Authentic Tails
Pros
Good for the environment as it is bio-degradable
Beautiful to look at
you will never find 2 identical tails
If well looked after, can last you a lifetime
supporting small buisness
Cons
Expensive
From a real animal
Yarn Tails
Pros
Fun craft
heavily customizable
cheap to make
Cons
Time consuming to make
Getting the supplies can be a pain
not completely biodegradable (Yarn has plastic)
Faux Fur
Pros
An animal didn't have to die for it
Durable if made right
Cons
not bio-degradable (Faux fur has plastic)
faux fur is expensive

If you have questions feel free to send them to my ask box, I'll do my best to answer them as best I can - I'm not an expert or a professional in this field, just someone with a bit of knowledge.
I hope this helped keep you all informed ♡ And remember, gear does not make you a Therian or Alterhuman - your non human identity does.
If you have anything to add please feel free to reblog with any additional information. I'd really appreciate it if someone who did Taxidermy were able to weigh in on this manner, as I'm just a dog who loves to collect tails :3

I was thinking about getting into models cuz I like puttin stuff together y'know, so where should I start with this kinda stuff? Like any specific model shops or suggestions or swagever
I'm not sure I can reccommend any specific model stores as I'm not sure what's most accessible and cheapest where you're living.
In terms of where to start, I think the best place to start is probably with some of Bandai's snap kits. Bandai's sprue engineering is pretty great, and their snap kits are all mostly colour correct from the get-go, with a few colour correction stickers depending on the kit. I think the simplest place to start is probably the Bandai Pokemon Quick Model Kits - these are designed to be pressed rather than cut out of the sprue/runners, and snap together very quickly, usually within 15 minutes.

I think most hobby stores with model kits should have some of these, and they're reliatively inexpensive.
Another place to start is with Bandai's Entry Grade kits. They've got quite a few, with 5-6 gundam themed ones, but also some from other anime franchises. The Entry Grade kits are a little more time consuming and complex, but completely novice friendly. I think pretty much all you need for those is a set of nippers, and maybe a modeling knife to scrape off mould lines and the little nubs left from where you cut it off the sprue. Again, what kits you get will depend on what's available near you, but I reccomend the EG Lah Gundam and the EG Build Strike Exceed Galaxy, which I feel are the highest quality. I've got reviews for both of these kits as well.

You should be able to get the correct set of nippers from the same store, usually you can find packs or just a few types of nipper individually. Bandai does an "Entry Grade nipper" but it's not really worth the cheap price as it's not really going to last. You can get these super cheap gunpla tool sets off Amazon, and those will definitely last a decent amount of time. I'm still using a lot of the tools I got from that initial set, and it cost me like $14.
If you want to step up from the Entry Grade kits, I think the best place to start with HG kits is the Witch From Mercury line, like the HG Lfrith. These are also pretty beginner friendly, but they're also more complex. Other HG gunpla is a little more difficult, requiring a lot of mould line removal, super close attention to detail when following the instructions, and in the older ones, a lot of colour correction painting. You can note older gunpla or bandai kits in general with the red rather than blue logo.
Definitely don't pick up any Real Grade or Master Grade kits as a beginner - I've seen some people reccommend MG as a beginner kit due to the larger scale, but I feel like the pieces aren't necessarily bigger and they're also pretty complex. RG kits have very small pieces and can be pretty difficult to put together as well.
If you're looking for non-gunpla kits from Bandai, they do a lot of Star Wars figures and vehicle models, as well as a few poseable Dragon Ball Z and Kamen Rider figures, and some static Demon Slayer statues. The Star Wars ones definitely aren't the *best*, as you've got to paint them a decent amount, especially the vehicles. The included stickers for the Star Wars kits are atrocious, and aren't worth the effort.
Otherwise, I think once you've tried model kit building with some of the Pokemon Quick Kits or an Entry Grade, Aoshima also does a few car snap kits, which also require pretty minimal painting.
If you're game to paint entire kits, I think the next level of complexity would be tank kits, affectionately referred to as "armour models". Tamiya's tank kits are definitely the most beginner friendly, as they dont require you to glue together each individual track link, but they do require you not only to cut out each piece from the runner, but to sand and file pieces to fit, and to remove flashing and mould lines that are a little more prominent. They're also not snap kits, which means rather than friction-fitting together like Bandai's kits, you need to buy plastic cement as well to glue the kit together. For a basic starter kit I think the best one is Tamiya's 1/35 M41 Bulldog, which has a pretty low parts count and shouldn't be too expensive. Tank kits are generally much more expensive than HG or even some RG gunpla, however, even ignoring the extra cost of tools and paint.
I know this is a suuuuuper long reply, but I hope you (and other curious beginnners) find it helpful!!

Feel like I’m the only vampire chronicles fan who loves the new iwtv series
“Book Louis was white!!!”
He was a slave owner and while Anne Rice contextualizes it real well—she doesn’t try to soften the subject matter, she doesn’t try the “he was nice to his slaves” book Louis is like “yeah I was a slave owner, it was fucked up” —still I feel no attachment to white Louis. It was not the most interesting thing about him.
Anne Rice was weird about any POC in her books. It’s still a white centric narrative, the main cast of vampires is white. Boring. Black Louis is much more interesting. A Black vampire navigating his immortality among a society hostile to his kin is so much more captivating.
Many of the main vampires in her series get a book dedicated to them where they explain their origins, their experience with immortality and their philosophies. Except...the vampires that get their own narrative are white. I would love to see an Ancient Black vampire that was kicking before any racism as it is now was invented. I wanna know their perspective, I wanna see them philosophize.
“Vampires can’t have sex!!”
Later in the books they invent vampire viagra—also cry harder im glad they’re fucking and sucking
“Book Claudia was supposed to be turned at 5 Years old. Book Claudia would kill to be a teenager even!! This Claudia almost looks like an adult!”
Teenagers definitely aren’t adults. Imagine being on the Cusp of adulthood and then you are paused mid puberty unable to develop any further. That would be maddening She looks like a young girl trying very hard to dress older than she is. Also it would be rough getting an actual 5 year old to act her part. Also there's some weird pedophile shit in the books, I'm glad we're writing that part out.
“Anne rice would be rolling in her grave”
Let her roll. Anne rice hated any adaptation—she was a control freak. Look up “interrogating the text from the wrong perspective” it’s her melt down in response to bad Amazon reviews on her vampire chronicles’ “Blood Canticle”
She didn’t even respect her own canon. She retcons it multiple times. In the end she retcons the origin of vampires (which had been established in books 2 and 3) and made it the product of an alien parasite. All bcuz some took a sudden interest in science fiction, she just had to turn it into science fiction
This series is not a masterpiece, it becomes pulp fiction by book 4, almost every book opens up like a personal vlog, Lestat is her Mary sue and also self insert. There is gay ghost sex that turns out to be incest. Actually there is so much incest, ntm the pedophilia it becomes almost unreadable.
God and the Devil are ex bfs that are in a millennia long theological and philosophical debate, also the Devil tries to recruit Lestat as the prince of hell and he drinks Jesus's blood. But several books later, just kidding, that wasn't the Devil that was just a spirit fucking around with Lestat.
The second to last book is called Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis--there are bird-reptile aliens pissed off about the asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs and want to eradicate mammals bcuz in every other universe reptiles are the dominant-sentient species.
There is nothing sacred about the original, this is not Beowolf or the Epic of Gilgamesh--this is Anne rice and her self-insert blorbo getting into scrapes. When adapting a piece of fiction the most important thing is preserving the Themes--which the show is doing superbly. What truly matters is that every character in Anne Rice's show is bisexual and polyamorous and a disaster.
If you're that upset about Louis being Black and Armand being Muslim you're just racist and either in denial or you know full well.

So I made a little split decision purchase the other day.

These are the Deathrippers from Warmachine. These were the last in stock on Amazon, and looking at most hobby shop sites I frequent, the last in stock I can find.
These little guys stole my heart the second I learned about them, and so as soon as I heard that they were no longer in print and were slowly being phased out, I immediately placed the Amazon order.

This is the first time I've ever acquired some Warmachine minis, so here's my little review of them!

These endangered bone doggos are great design wise, and I'm real sad that they aren't sticking around. I love the meshing of skulls and mechanical components in a subtle way. They aren't death guard's big biological nightmares, but they also aren't just regular ol' robots. I love the design choice to make them two-legged walker things instead of just another ol' four-legged dog thing, very creative! The porting on the necks is interesting, I'm unsure if the implications are that bones are magical and are causing it to overheat? Or maybe the machine runs hot and they want to keep the bones from getting melty? I dunno, but it's certainly neat looking!
4.5/5 on design!
Sadly, while the design is great, the mini quality leaves a little to be desired. First, the minis came in a little baggy instead of on sprues, which I have mixed feelings about.

On one hand, it's certainly convenient not to have to de-sprue the mini bits. On the other hand, these had some awful connection scars.

This was after I had scraped at them with a hobby knife for a bit, too. I'm likely going to have to pick up something to sand them down a bit. While I'm certainly calling the kettle here, I must say that these weren't taken off the sprues very well at all.
On top of that, the leg pins were slightly larger than the leg holes, which meant I had to do a mix of attempting to shove them in, scraping down the sides with my hobby knife and then rinse and repeat until they cooperated.
The instructions didn't help too much either. Figuring out how the top of the skull was supposed to fit onto the bottom took me a bit of pondering. The instructions just kinda had lines pointing to where they go.

Turns out you're supposed to attach the skull under a little overhang on the bottom jaw. The top piece has a rounded bit that fits in with a divot on the bottom piece, which... isn't what the instructions say to do.
Overall, I didn't have very much fun assembling these. Usually, (when I'm dealing with plastic, not resin minis) mini assembly is challenging, but at least a little fun. These were just a hassle.
Assembly and mini quality: 2/5
Despite that, I'm still planning on basing these and giving them the display quality treatment. In the off chance these end up becoming a collectors item or something (unlikely), it'd be nice to have some high-quality painted versions to show off/potentially sell.
Heck, since they're going out of print, I might look into making some molds of them to recast or see if I can get a really high-quality scan of them to 3D print myself! It'd be nice to not have these little goofballs fade into obscurity, I think they're my favorite thing to come out of Warmachine, if not the best thing to come out of Warmachine.

todays video/unpopular opinion/rant
(its fairly negative so like, skip if u dont wanna hear negativity 🫰)
todays vid just left an icky taste in my mouth. to be fair i watched it bleary eyed at 7am and haven't watched since but like idk the thinly veiled ad really irked me. i usually enjoy (and eyeroll) at their silliness doing full video ads. but like idk the whimsy wasnt there for me.
it wasn't til steevie did some digging that it clicked. this company is mad shady. data stealing (im aware judt about everything is these days), scraping the internet of bad reviews (as much as possible, steevie still found plenty - with some digging) and not to mention one of the prizes being a amazon vouchers? idk i think it hits worse than past ads bc shady company + 'prizes' that phannies will absolutely go for means that this shit ass company will actually make a dime on their backs. on their audiences backs. like its your classic 'free to play' but ofc people will spend money.
just not the vibes man, im just disappointed at the failure to do research into something they have promoted. big ick. i know advertising is a necessary evil in their job (and in existing on the internet these days) but like maybe collab with a company that isn't so shite?
i love these silly lil dudes but like come on, do better plz 💚

I love Sawbones "If I Wear A Plague Mask No One Has To Make Eye Contact With Me or Know My Gender" Sawbones, and their propensity to get into weird scrapes to help animals in need. ~ Amazon reviewer
After treating the Queen's pets, Sawbones wants nothing more than to put as much distance as possible between themself and Her Majesty. But when they stop in a small village to buy supplies, they're forced to to take a detour to take on another patient-- a Cockatrice in crisis! Oh, and help a family suddenly left homeless by a wild sorcerer's awakening. If they must. If there's really no one else around to handle it. ...Is there really no one else around to handle it? Nope, just one beleaguered veterinarian on the run from the law. Let's hope Sawbones gets out of town before the witch hunt turns on them.
Hi, Tumblr! I recently finished a short story about Sawbones the plague veterinarian, their pair of medieval bestiary unicorns, and an adventure while on the run from the law.
You can get it on Amazon or Smashwords - and can pick up the entire series, including the prequel "The Unicorn's Beard", for less than the price of a peppermint mocha latte.
Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!

Astrophysicists may have solved the mystery of Uranus’s unusual radiation belts
- By Nuadox Crew -
The weak radiation belts around Uranus, observed by Voyager 2 nearly 50 years ago, may actually be due to changes in particle speed caused by the planet’s asymmetric magnetic field.
Uranus's magnetic field is tilted 60° from its spin axis, creating an unusual magnetic environment.
Researchers, including Acevski et al., used new modeling incorporating a quadrupole field to simulate this asymmetry and found that particle speeds vary in different parts of their orbits.
This variation spreads particles out, decreasing their density by up to 20%, which could explain Voyager 2's observations.
Although this does not completely account for the weaker radiation belts, it offers insights into Uranus's magnetic anomalies. NASA’s proposed mission to the ice giants may provide further data to understand these mechanisms.
