So, with the new year fast approaching I have decided on a few things. Honestly all of these kind of go together but it helps me to list out my thoughts. First thing is I want to try and create more. Be that writing more or drawing more, I want to spend more time making things that make me happy. Secondly, I want to try and post new parts of Soulmates? Soulmate. more often. Part 6 is almost done and should be up either tomorrow or Friday, I'm also hoping to maybe start posting new parts once a week or once every two weeks depending on my irl work schedule. Third I want to do more events and celebrate the fandoms that I'm in more than I have. I don;t have any dead set plans but I would like to give another shot at a pride event. This is basically a post for me to sort out my thoughts and put my plans out there so I'm more likely to accomplish them. also I'm tagging the fandoms I want to write for more in the new year so feel free to send a request for any of the tagged fandoms. Everyone knows my one true f/o is Terzo Emeritus, but what if I had to get with a Disney Prince or Princess? As a bisexual person, I thought this would be fun.

Guess what? I got Prince Naveen and Princess Tiana. Let’s be honest; Naveen would charm me 100%. Tiana, though… I dunno. I mean, she’s kinda my type but I don’t think it would work out. Besides, at the very beginning of the movie she didn’t think she had time to commit to a relationship since she was saving for her restaurant. Ya’ll, I don’t think she’d be into me lmao. Good Morning! I don't mean to bug you, but a lot of people on reddit seem to be divided on what kibbe type Morten Harket is. They seem to think he's either some type of natural or classic, but I wouldn't rule out dramatic either, since his face has notably sharp Nordic features. He kind of reminds me of an elf prince.

FN was my first thought, but the face and what suits him best are another story. i see him as an athletic Dramatic Classic (who so happens to dress like an N, and sometimes as a pure classic, which obscures his real type). i'll explain why below.

being smaller than his bandmates after all, he doesn't have the extreme vertical of D, SD, and FN but a chiseled face that's proportional, picture-perfect, news anchor. 6'0 is the DC height. the breaking point between balanced IDs and the big three.

some DCs have stronger shoulders too, like SD's T-shape body (though high glam and big hair looks tacky on him, and he's not narrow, so that's not his type either). men of many types are muscular, what suits a person makes the difference. let's go through all the categories.

stylizing him as a dramatic with dark strong fabrics and long hair always made him unrecognizable — it's sexy, but it's not "him", it's another guy (tarzan?):

any gamine material and pattern mix is a trainwreck, what an axl rose fit, G never did him justice at all — the heavy fabrics also make it even more confusing and too much:

reflective, satiny yin fabrics don't fit his face & make him gaunt: we clearly see how sharp yang he is. points to a dramatic subtype. only DC and FN are possible to me. no romantic in him.

but any casual natural fabrics... are like a loose cannon or a gimmick, not a timeless flattering outfit. (note the lack of tiny waist syndrome + conventionally masculine build = not a yin subtype):

finally, lets finish with classic, neat simplicity, his home. it shifts the focus back to the face, doesn't make him look harsh, brings clarity, looks handsome, and adds blush to the cheeks.

let's try kibbe typecasting: if you offered him a vintage james bond role, and the old james bond always wears DC, could he do it? yes. he looks great in custom menswear. i always thought FN clothes made him look like a copy of someone else, tom cruise, patrick swayze... dramatic classic gives his character back. he needs symmetry, contrast, sharpness, and tailoring.

Inside No. 9: London's final — April 5, 2025

There’s just so much to say, I don’t even know where to begin. Stage/Fright has become more than just a play to me — it was a deeply unforgettable part of my winter and spring.

The Show

I was lucky enough to get a standing ticket in the stalls for the finale, though I was standing a bit off to the side this time, and noticed that a bit of the “Kidnap” subtitle on the glass door wasn’t visible from where I was. Overall, the performance didn’t differ much from before, but you could feel a certain sadness in the air.

During the post-prologue transitions, I think I saw a glimmer of tears in Steve’s blue eyes, and Reece kept pursing his lips, looking emotional 🥺. When Steve said “bloody bell,” an audience — clearly excited — shouted three times in a row when he hadn't even finished his lines, and he said, “That’s immature.”

In "Kidnap", the hare was indeed on the stairs again — maybe that’s now a staple? Reece moved the chair to the center and took those two little steps — it was adorable and got everyone laughing. The guest was Jonathan Ross, which was a bit of a curveball for me… I had been hoping for Peter Capaldi/Jeremy, or maybe even a return of Mark… After Thursday's and Friday’s shows, even someone guessed that the final guest would be The King, because honestly, who has a bigger name than Ian McKellen? But… "I’d never heard of this guest." Still, he made a lot of jokes about Mark, said Mark was too busy with Sherlock to bother with them (as far as I can remember), and mentioned how beautiful Reece was (I caught that keyword!). He did a pretty good flamenco, but failed to blow the trumpet. In this performance, Len used the celery to fight back against Tommy — kind of like when Mark’s Mike suddenly turned violent on Geoff in The League of Gentlemen’s 111-show tour.

When Tommy smashed the bottle on Len’s head during Brown Bottle, you could clearly see bits of glass stuck in Steve's wig.

The curtain had a few lifts and falls at intermission and the show started a little late, but thankfully everything went smoothly. I absolutely loved Reece’s “elemental dance” — he really is a delightful little toy of chaos! This time, I noticed the fake blood blade used by the doctor on Hugo. When the female lead threw chemical fluid, the nurse entered holding a bundle of eyeballs or something similar and just smacked it onto her right eye. During the “filming” scene later, when Steve left Reece, the hug was really tight (the contrast in their builds — Reece really is tiny and just completely wrapped in Steve’s arms 🥺). And Steve held his neck at the end! I still really love the bit where Reece gets choked — haha!

During the fake curtain call, everyone was genuinely crying. Steve choked up as he thanked everyone for coming to see the show. The encore musical was performed under total blackout — with the ghost light going out last.

Stage Door

There was actually a stage door this time! Reece and Steve really do love their fans. As soon as the SD started, props had already been moved into the alley… and when it ended and the crowd cleared, the theatre set was also being dismantled. Reece wasn’t even carrying his CAT bag himself this time (what a little prince!). The guy behind him carrying his backpack kept joking around — it was adorable!

We later saw they went straight to the bar beside the theatre, and we spotted family members and Simon. Some of us even said, “See you tomorrow!” to each other.

A passersby saw the crowd and asked , “Who’s that?” @silverview: Reece Shearsmith, from Inside No. 9 and League of Gentlemen!” Passersby: “Umm… oh?” Me: “Never heard of him!” (in Reece’s voice) (That’s just how it is with our beloved West End "nobodies"…hhhh not really)

Arin and I stood there in the wind in our dresses for wedding and graduation ceremony , watching the last of the props being taken away, crying our eyes out. I said SDs are the most painful and the happiest “job” in the world. We were crying over what had passed, and also over what’s still to come, unknown.

Reflection

It’s hard to believe that after nearly 10 years, I finally made it to London, and was lucky enough to see this play multiple times. Sometimes I wonder what it actually brought me. Beyond the show itself and the boys, the most precious gift was the friends I made — both Chinese and British. A show about friendship gave me real friendships. The play ends, but we won’t.

Lately, I’ve found myself quietly enchanted by Reece. In the daylight, I watch him on screen; in the evenings, I see him alive on stage; and after the curtain falls, I glimpse him again at the stage door, still shimmering in the afterglow of the performance. I see Reece becoming other people, and I see him returning to himself. I see him flickering across the internet, and then, strangely, I see different versions of him from different times appearing all at once—as though, for me, time no longer moves in a straight line where Reece is concerned. He slips through it. He can be anyone, and anyone could be him. Toby is Reece. Reece has become something more than a person—a symbol, perhaps—so much so that his very realness begins to feel like a beautiful illusion.

Every brief moment at SD feels like a glimpse from our 3D world into a 4D one — dazzling and fleeting. And so, like the little match girl, I keep striking match after match just to see that light and feel that warmth — even if it means using up all the matches in the box. What’s left after that? Maybe none of them are truly real, but the friendships among fans — those are sincere.

I don’t know if I’ll still be in the UK this autumn, or if I’ll ever see them or my British friends again — but I’ll always remember this spring at Wyndham’s. It was the most surprising, brilliant, unforgettable, and heartbreakingly beautiful season of all.
