A potential, simple solution to who can seal the dark fountains

One of the unanswered questions of Deltarune so far is, why can only Kris seal the fountains? I think it's because they're a human, but I will explain why.

Why Ralsei/Darkners can't seal the fountains

Darkners, and Ralsei for that extend, aren't shown to have SOULs. We can also presume they don't, as they are manifestations of objects and things Lightners use.

This may also be evident in the TP master's grazing tutorial within the Castle Town Dojo.

Why Susie and monsters can't seal the fountains

This will need some UNDERTALE logic, but for this, I think it's a valid source, as evident by the graveyard implying monsters are buried with their dust.

When sealing fountains, the SOUL comes out of the body, going towards the fountain. With the rules UNDERTALE established, monster SOULs should be incapable of doing this.

It has been stated by Alphys, that monster SOULs can't persist after death, and extracting a monster's SOUL requires incredible power, and it would kill the host.

The only exception to this within UNDERTALE is Boss Monsters, who are only Toriel, Asgore and potentially Asriel. Boss Monsters existing within DELTARUNE cannot be confirmed either.

Even then, the SOUL can only persist for a very short time before shattering. Sealing the fountain would be either dangerous or fatal for a monster.

Why only Kris and humans can seal fountains

Kris is neither a Darkner, nor a monster, but is a human Lightner. We can also see them sealing the fountain just fine.

In both games, human SOULs can be seen out of their body. And within DELTARUNE, Kris can live without a SOUL, at least for enough time to seal the fountain.

I believe it is the persistence of the human SOUL, and how humans can survive without the SOUL for some time, that leads them being the only one within the Delta Warriors to seal the fountain.

Conclusion

I believe the theory may be right, but given how much it relies on UNDERTALE rules, it may fall apart whenever the next chapters release.

The theory also provides an explanation that still lets humans and monsters be roughly equal in power, while explaining the fountain sealing.
