So I can see this as the justice league looking to hire both someone to help newcomers with costumes and also help fix up old costumes.
Batman finds out about Danny looking into Tailors and seamstresses. He decideds a retired superhero probably knows how costumes should be functional as well as comfortable.
I can see Danny as just an old mentor Esk figure for the younger age group.
Not many of the younger age group take him seriously until he beats up Darkseid with an L square ruler
I’m still quite young, but a few years older and more knowledgeable than when I first started reading Discworld. I know more about the world, and public discussion about sex workers has changed in the US in the past 5 years.
And Mrs. Palm and the Seamstress Guild is still hands down the best and most respectful depiction of sex workers that I have ever come across.
Everybody in Ankh-Morpork knows them. When new arrivals come to the city they stay with Mrs. Palm. The closest they come to being the butt of a joke is Sandra th Actual Seamstress. They’re unionized! They have power and are respected!
have watched Good Omens s2! a bit silly and enjoyably low-stakes, right up until it was very abruptly neither silly nor low-stakes at all, but still enjoyable in a ‘hey wait WHAT oh NO’ sort of way.
(part of me suspects that sometime near the end of 2020, Neil saw tumblr collectively trying to recover from November 5 and saw an opportunity to be hilarious.)
i can also see him bein' so fuckin' scared because "m'fucked up, y'know? jus' no good. best thing i ever did was somehow get you n'now we got this little one on the way and what if i'm no good at bein' a daddy?" he'd cry over it :( but then your lil sprout would come around and benny learns that bein' a parent means healin' that big part of him that still hurts every now n'then :( he's there for every first: the smile, the giggle, the tooth. n'when they're a lil bigger benny teaches 'em to ride a trike because, "gotta start small, we'll work' ya up to the panhead, though. don' worry. got fifteen years or so, plenty'a time." he teaches 'em that it's okay to cry. tells 'em to be like you n'lead with their heart. kisses every skinned knee, sits elbow to elbow on the sofa watchin' sunday morning cartoons, keeps a picture of 'em in his wallet :( dad!benny you will always be in my heart
One thing that we don't talk about enough with fashion trends like dark academia, cottagecore, etc. is that sometimes the pining for those clothes is pining for an era when clothes were sturdy and dependable. The aesthetic aspect of it for me - and the vintage clothing - is in no small part about high quality materials that are fitted to *your* body and will last.
In this essay I will ...
lol but no really!
I bought pants from Torrid that had houndstooth pattern, and I didn't think to check the material (i couldn't see the picture very clearly) and was so disappointed when I got them and the houndstooth wasn't stitches, but just ... a pattern on some ponte. Like. The POINT of houndstooth is that it is a clever way for fabric to be made durably.
I'm really sick of living in an era of expensive look-alikes that don't last over a year. Fast fashion makes up something like 25% of global carbon waste. I just want something that is made out of fabric without any petroleum in it. I know it costs more but that's also why we need to pay people more jfc
